Came in with a friend for a late lunch while she wanted a beer. We found abooth and sat down and chatted while we waited for the bar lady to come to our table. Neither of us had been there before so we weren't sure how things worked there. After about 10 minutes she finally walked over to us. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries with a Coke to drink. My friend ordered a draft Dos Equis. We continued chatting for a bit until we realized the bar lady hadn't brought my friends beer yet. It took us almost another 10 minutes on top of the already 10 minutes we had waited before she came over and asked us if there was anything we needed. My friend promptly replied, "Yeah, the beer I ordered!" The bar lady began to apologize and said that she had completely forgot about the beer and would go get it right now. So the beer came and a bit later cacti brought out my burger and fries with all the condiments I could ask for. The burger was really good and the fries were awesome. Seasoned fries are the best. When the bar lady brought us our check she whispered to my friend that she wasn't going to charge us for the beer and to make sure we cashed out with her. We both were pleasantly surprised and grateful for her doing that. All in all it was a pretty good experience and we will definitely be coming back!!!!

I will start off by saying that the food is AMAZING! I love the hot wings and their fries. The food is the only reason why I go back to this place, if the food was bad then I’d never step foot into the Purple Turtle again. The problems with this place mainly, is that when you seat yourself, it takes absolutely forever to get the attention of a waiter (like 15-30 minutes), and I’ve been here during the early afternoon on a weekday when virtually no one else was there. After you order your food, it’s takes even longer for you to get it, I always order wings and fries and that takes over 40 minutes to get to my table. Once again, wings and fries are pretty easy and fast to make, and there’s no other orders. When you get the food, it’s amazing, it’s hot and fresh, so delicious. But again, it’ll be impossible to get a waiter’s attention so good luck trying to get a refill or napkins. If it wasn’t due to the good food, I wouldn’t come here anymore but I love the food! Also the place is pretty sketchy as well (like ghetto sketchy and feels like any minute there’s gonna be a shooting or stabbing, so maybe don’t come here during the weekend nights). It’s also very runner down so not the most pleasing place to look at or be at but the food’s good! (Try to have it delivered, it’s on Postmates)

Wings are good I have no complains however the bar is a bit outdated and it is painted dark to disguise the need of an upgrade. I had always come here before and the wings we priced fairly based on the quality of food. However, the owner has decided to increase the prices on each item to pay for to go boxes. So for example had 25 wings wanted half medium and half bbq. They no longer split the flavors. So I had to get dozen packs in order to split them. Lol isn’t that the same thing. Anyway so if you eat in the 12 wings are 10.99 but if you order to go they are 13.99 so imagine I ordered 3 sets of 12 wings so si can order 3 flavors which is $3 extra per box so I am paying $9 worth of to go boxes. I could buy a pack of to go boxes for that much. That is so not cool and they use frys bags meaning they recycle the bags. So even then I am picking up food no one is delivering and I’m paying $9 worth of containers? So how in the world do other restaurants have reasonable prices and they don’t. Never coming here again due to that reason. It’s ridiculous. Lost a customer just for that. People giving this place a 5 has no knowledge in food quality. Or they might even be fake reviews.

OMG! The service and staff are absolutely GORGEOUS ❤️ but they're also very sweet and do their best to please their customers in what can be a very busy bar! Did I mention drop dead gorgeous sweethearts, GORGEOUS?! Rubie, Mia, Denise, McKayla, and Name, ok fine I love everyone lol don't judge me.The whole crew, fr! SPORTS!!! Cmon now Sunday ticket, PPV, NBA they do it ALL! They didn't even charge cover on the Davis vs Garcia fight! Food: very the wings breh. Lotta meat on them bones, sloppy and saucey is the way. I went out with a friend and her boyfriend. The food was not great. I had nachos that came with shreds of lettuce, which confused me. No salsa was offered. I had a lemonade, which was good. I came to try to experience the "night club" they had but left feeling underwhelmed. During the hours I was there (8:50PM-10:30PM) only (2) folks danced. The dance floor apparently doubles as the dining area. I was expecting it to be separate. The music was too loud for the size of the establishment. I requested DJ Cien to play Teena Marie's Ooo-La-La-La but only a short snippet of the song was played. I guess I should be happy at least some of it was played. I didn't have a cash tip on me at the time but appreciated his consideration. I may come back one day to try the wings and listen to music. Next time I will be sure to tip the DJ and request more current music. I may also be interested in karaoke night if I work up the nerve to sing. Thanks for having us.

Not bad last time I came here there were prego chick's in skimpy clothes lol 4 years ago which deterred me away went with my coworkers who always wanted to go try the wings I experienced b4 the new management came atleast 4 years ago but we enjoyed the wings they were yummy!!!but it hasn't change alot inside beside electronics one pool table something that looks like a vip area some visuals..but tables are still the same etc..the server was very nice attentive more then what I got 4 years ago she did a great job I'd go back past the old school turtle tables etc food tastes the same and service got better I'll go back my mind has been changed!! If u haven't tried fo ahead and do so kids are welcome to eat aswell probably only till 6pm not exactly sure

What a dive! And that's not a bad thing, I like dive bars. We were the only ones in there when we got there. Service could have been better and the food was ok. We didn't receive one item ordered but decided to let it go. Ordered 12 wings thinking it would be the 13.99, as the special said. Apparently, it has to be only 6 wings and with fries, which is not mentioned anywhere I saw. Even though the waitress asked if we were good twice as we finished and we said we were done, we had to ask for the check. When we got the check we noticed we were overcharged by $20. The issue did get fixed quickly, but seemed shady. I'd give it another shot understanding that mistakes and miscommunications happen.

Kids are allowed (Everytime I come) The food is great so recognition to the Chef! The Purple Turtle has decent specials as presented in the photos ($5-12) for the drinks but they always seem to be limited on supplies and ingredients. They do have security in the front entrance before you can be sat down. Overall it's a decent Dive Bar for the area with recognition from the neighborhood. If you're looking for a straightforward facility this is it. Not bad but not great. Food is good!! 4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's time to update my review. I have not been in 4 years and I guess it has new owners and they really changed up the place it's better, however 50 cent wings are nice but you have to get 2 drinks to get that price and water is $3 (you can get a 24 pack of water for the same price) ‍♀️ anyway we had a 50/50 experience I really liked the mango habanero wings but he had so much grease on the bottom of his order of lemon pepper wings you had to blot them on paper towel like you do for bacon. For drinks the tropical turtle was superb but the sour turtle was not so great like a watered down grapefruit juice. Definitely recommend the fried zucchini.

RIP to the OG Purple Turtle! We loved this place it was definitely a 5 star dive bar if that makes sense. The staff AMAZING, wings BEYOND AMAZING best wings in town! Now they are under new management and I can’t help but notice dramatic changes to our favorite bar! It is now filled with Raiders fans, don’t get me wrong idc what team you go for but when I say they are OVERWHELMING it’s an understatement! They take over and if your teams game is on at the same time as a Raider game good luck paying attention to your game! I loved this bar for many reasons but now everything is changing, change is good but not in this case. Unfortunately, after today we will be finding another bar to spend our time at because this does not feel like the bar we used to love! RIP OG PURPLE!

I've never been a in bar been ignored by waitresses the only one that acknowledged me was the Asian waitress but the others were quick to pick up the tips and leave my empty beers and bucket with out ever asking if I'd like more ... The goals to make money here right?? I'm sorry I don't care if you have a terrible bbl job and aren't flirting with you I still deserve fair service shouldn't have to walk to the bar when you've walked by me n my empties 10 times looking right at my table lol what a joke n $9 for a single beer in this trash cans an even bigger joke

Loved the vibe. We was great for pool. Tables and cues kept up so that's always good. We white but love hip hop. So it was good to hear West coast beats. Thanks kindly for starting the tunes beautiful Lady. Beer was perfect cold but next time.....make me a better rum and coke. Tasted terrible. I could of given a four or less but it was not a big problem since I didn't say anything at the time about the drink. Now, you do need a better Purple Turtle sign promoting that there is a chill spot to shoot pool, throw darts, listen to what you want and chill. Bud smokers lounge should be the next move after the sign. Trust me.

Had a horrible experience in the first minute! I am a black man I walk thru the the within the first minute I was here. One of the patron says out loud what is someone like you coming in here? I got insulted and turn around and had to walk away! The place was filled with Mexicans! Maybe that was my mistake! WTE! Never will return and WILL tell my black friends and family! :(

This bar has horrible customer service and is ripping people off. They give you drinks that you pay $9 for and has no alcohol in them. We went here to celebrate birthday and was treated horribly. We went Friday night and went back Saturday night because not many places have vacancy to allow people in right now. They told us you cannot be here you are not welcome here anymore and need to leave. When we asked why they said because you complained about our drinks and did not tip us. This place is the worst. Do not go here!! Will be reporting to major news outlets and also BBB!!

It was my first time there..I know this place has been there for a long time. Bartender was nice and good service. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is..they have off track betting & some of the guys hanging out watching the races or whatever kept standing right next to us.( we were in a booth) and not just 1 guy it was 3 of them within 2 to 5 feet of our table . its not very comfortable to have someone talking to themselves and moving around behind you when ur trying to relax and have a beer. Over all not a bad place to drink and watch some races..minus the weird guys.

The food is really good but definitely not worth the added secret costs by the waitress saying each item is taxed individually. ALWAYS ALWAYS pay in cash and check your receipt prices are not what is on the menu. I also pulled out $100.00 cash from the atm in the bar for an $85.00 bill and waitress gave me back $5.00 when asked where the remaining $10.00 is she stated I only gave her $80.00 which obviously she was trying to take some for herself. Just beware when dining here!!!

Under new management... turning into a loud raider fans base bar so that’s already a big no no for me but they’re charging you to get limes with beer no more pitchers they’re getting rid if our OG bartenders and the wings are getting made by a new guy so they’re not purple turtle wings anymore. Extremely disappointing especially when this was the dive bar to be at with our friends. So if you come here be ready to be disappointed by the changes that the new owner has enforced definitely going to look for another bar after today.

I moved here from cali and I couldn’t find a good place that serves wings then I was introduced to purple turtle and since then I’ve been obsessed.!!!!!! I get lemon pepper all flats with honey hot on the side on top of it the vibe is chill and the bar tenders are the best .! Respectful and hot as hell I’ll always come here to support and grub .!!

Definitely changed from the friendly neighborhood bar that has been here for decades...clientele is mainly Hispanic nowadays, don't like the new renovations. I think its not attractive at all...went on a Thursday night...they pat you down at the door like you're at a concert...even females!! Server was unfriendly, maybe because I was white i don't know that for sure but it whst it felt like at the time. Sad to see such a longtime friendly bar not so friendly anymore Pool tables and electronic darts to play on

I was here Christmas Day 2013. I thought I would stop in again. The Ownership and management has change. The wings are supposed to still be awesome. I was here on a taco Tuesday. The tacos are amazing. I ate 2 ground beef tacos in house, ordered 2 fish tacos plus, a bacon wrapped burrito to go. Oh, did I mention that they are $1.00 each for the tacos... Well, now I have. Not to mention the beer slinger was very attentive (Cristal).

The wings are huge, and delicious. We also love their Bossman Pizza, we used to get it from 27th Ave bar & Grill. When we heard the owner bought this place we had to come see of it was on the menu. Its just as good. The salsa was different though. I took off one star because the price charged was different from the price advertised and the waitress could have been more friendly. She seemed to chat with the regulars. I didn't feel very welcomed by her. I will still return though because my food was that good.

Bartender was racist and lazy. Refused to give me water because she wasnt serving my side of the bar...it's water. She got offended when I called her lazy and she grabbed a big can of mace. I was shocked!! I'd definitely go back there cuz it's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Especially since they have their kids serving customers alcohol.

I was there a month ago. The food was just okay. But nobody could make any of the drinks we ordered. I ordered a tequila sunrise instead of orange juice it tasted like they put tang in it. It was like drinking Kool-Aid. If I wanted Kool-Aid I would have made it at home. Then they had like a Three year olds toys in there which I didn't understand for a being a bar. Very disappointed in the changes they need better bartenders and a better cook didn't have no problem when it was under different management.

Been going here for 5 years my kids love their wings and so do I idk if the chef changed or what but spent 60$ on wings and I called back to say they messed up my wings gave me hot instead I called to report the mistake and this girl laughed and said there’s nothing they can do about it after admitting that they were suppose to be mild gave the worst attitude and just laughed at me the whole time . what happen to the older funny women ? You guys got younger ones with horrible service to a loyal customer

I havent been here in years and it's definitely changed, this is not a dive bar anymore. Each mug of beer is $10, they don't sell pitchers either. Only 1 pool table now. Waiter was nice at first but throughout the evening her attitude became poor. My advice is to go somewhere else nicer with the amount of money you will spend here

The food here is pretty good, although you better get in there early cause the kitchen closes at 10. The beer is cold. There is probably anything you may want to acquire within a relatively short distance without much effort.The five star rating is based mainly on an employee there though. EVELYN is an amazing and wonderful woman. I could have talked with her for at least a few days without stopping. I would have done more, but the bar is open to the public so.....society and its rules! Pfht.

Denice is very RUDE!! Denice cuts off karaoke at 9:59 on the dot I thought this time would be different but it wasn't and I'm never coming back!! She favors her people and ignores everyone else.

I love this spot for my favorite honey hot wings. The wings are the biggest out of any hotwing type restaurant. I get mine honey hot extra crispy and it's always good for me. No matter the driving distance its that worth it to me for the best hotwings & I've tried plenty of places. Oh ill add the last visit I had I ate the best crispy Fry's like yummy took me back like I was a lil kid & that french fry taste haha seriously really tasty. I think ill go tonight

This place is pretty good and they have the best hot wings around. They have good atmosphere, good bartenders ok pool tables and I really like how each woman's bathroom stall has its own sink LOL but the reason I didn't give it 4 stars is because they allow children in here to eat hot wings until I believe at 9pm. The last thing I want to deal with is children when I stop by to have a beer after work every once in a while they're running around in unsupervised.

There will be some sketchy people that will come in here. Snakes! Back when it use to be 27th Ave Bar & Grill, I had some stuff stolen from there and also there would be this one guy with a long beard & backwards hat that would weasel his way in & try to record you on his phone when you were super drunk, he would basically try to blackmail you & try to get dirt on you by confessing some stuff. He dated "Ally" for a while. That guy is a "POS"!

The purple turtle is an experience. I've been here many times, though mostly about ten years ago. I used to go here for the proximity, and also because I enjoy a dive bar from time to time. This last time I went, the vibe had changed quite a bit. There isn't even a purple turtle shell anymore...which just feels wrong. Additionally, the music was so loud I couldn't hear any of my friends, and what's the point if you can't even talk?

Michaylla has been just a doll!! We go there as usuals for lunch and the service she gives is amazing. Always very attentive and on top of her stuff! Very friendly staff and good food! Definitely recommend this little neighborhood bar !!

Under new management so everything is being changed. However went to have some drinks with family around 9pm and we were turned around because they say "it was slow so they are closing" if that is how the purple turtle will be from new management they lost generations of my family coming there. Well when my husband and I went it was around closing time so there were like maybe 10 people if that, there. I had a beer my husband had a coke. We met 3 women there that were really enjoyable to talk to. I've worked there many years ago. I was known as the singing waitress so no matter what no matter how long it is, my husband and I will remain faithful patrons of "THE PURPLE TURTLE".

This place was awful music (not great at all) over priced food I’m guessing menu was not updated in their prices I should’ve gone to another place for the ridiculous prices of food and drinks. Unless bartender charged me twice which she probably did. I wouldn’t waste my time in this place again, I’m only giving it one star since it wouldn’t give me an option of zero stars.

Only saving grace to this place is the food. The “bartenders” are slow and rude. There is a couple of them that always look high on something, my guess pills. On more then one occasion the bartender served me my food, then took a wing for herself!! This is not a family place nor a place to take a date. If you want wings then try it out but guard them from the staff!

This Sports Bar is so FREINDLY. The Food is Delicious, especially on Hot Wing Wednesday!, & the hospitality is Great, they make u feel comfortable when u walk in. My brother & I try to go every Wednesday to enjoy the food, & relax from the work week. The only one thing I think they need is UPGRADE on REMODELING the place. Thanks for that place to unwind responsibly.

Came here for the comedy show I saw on Facebook. How they can justify $10 dollar beers is a mystery to me. The comedy show was decent considering is free and on a Thursday. It's a dive bar and neighborhood hangout. They do have darts and pool tables so that made it a fun night. The bar tenders weren't always behind the bar and were sometimes hard to order from even though it was very slow. We had a few drinks and left. This place needs to be cleaned with the lights on daily you can tell it's old and not been kept up.

If your looking for a relaxed environment with good food, people and drinks this is your spot. You can't knock it til you try it...

I only gave it 3 of 5 stars because an unauthorized tip was taken out of my company card even after I paid a cash tip. I tried numerous times to get the $5 back because my job was on my back about it. I advise customers to check their bank statement the next day or right away. Other than that I had a great time, great servers, food and music.

Drinks are unnecessarily expensive for a "dive bar", so are all of their food options. Waitresses are somehow always new and don't know what's on the menu or what drinks are available. A very limited selection of beers. To top it off, their happy hour ends at 4, when everyone gets off work. Who is making it to this happy hour?

A wonderful place. Great staff! One of the best things a tavern/bar can do is make one feel like one is in one's neighborhood hangout spot, even if one is halfway across the country. The Purple Turtle accomplishes this. What a great bar! P.S. if you're going to a Brewers Spring Training game, this is a great place to pregame

There's not much to say about it. No good drink specials, the wings were mediocre, all the tables were dirty. We had one long island ice tea played one game of pool ate our wings and left. There was a weird vibe. I gave then an extra star for having a wing special on Thursday...if you don't mind mediocre it's a good deal.

Kitchen is extremely dirty. Cooks do not wear gloves and seems to never have been cleaned. Went for a stroll around the building definitely not within County code. I would definitely stay away. Bartenders and staff very obvious and not paying much attention to customers.

This is usually our family outing once a week. I even take my son that is 5 years old. They have the best wings ever, fries, and onion rings. I've heard their burgers are also delicious. Sometimes the wait is awhile, but it is well worth it. Not pricey on food or drinks (liquor). I would definitely recommend.

These guys are so chill, good at their services and fun and great people. Bathrooms are metal af but very clean and each with their own sink. They even have a little makeup counter with mirror. Also a great place for football, everyone is super fun!!!! One pool table too. Def check this place out!

Stopped in for a lunch break from work. The music was great, the wings were even better and I couldn’t ask for a nicer staff. Best of all, they have Big Wave on tap! I’ll be back.

Best wings in Arizona. This bar hasn't changed in probably 40 years. It's definitely a dive, so pretend you're in the 80s and embrace it. Don't come here looking for craft beer. Beware: the environment is much different during the day vs. at night. You may want to avoid this place at night.

Was in for a midday lunch. Food was okay. Place looks a little run down and staff sat on their phones the majority of the time. You can clearly tell they don't get much daytime business. Lots of fun lights and looks to be a DJ set up. Maybe it's better at night.

I went to the bar on Saturday for the live music with my group of friends, Name was amazing considering she was by herself, still very attentive even though it was a full bar. Considering coming her again !

Like everyone says wings are good here in my opinion. But security was cool didn't say anything about my patches since I'm independent but I'm guessing bikers are allowed on a certain level. But I'd definitely say your independent if your a rider and no club

Been coming here for years. New owners updated bar. But the one thing that has not changed. Are the best wings in town. Of course the beautiful bartenders. Make it all worth while.

Love this place. Ive been going since i was old enough to drink. Wings are famous around the area and the beer is cheap. Like any dive bar is full of different people and a lot of regulars. Keep an open mind when you walk in and you'll have a great time.

It's pretty cool. I love the bright blonde waitress.. she so nice and fun. Please come threw. The bar tender is great. The lights on ceiling are amazing...... The music is great..... 5 star for sure

OMG LOVED THIS PLACE! Went with the girls on a Saturday afternoon about 3. This place was already lively. We had an amazing waitress and drink presentation was amazing!

Good old purple turtle. Great place always has been. I love the karaokes and poker. But there is usually always drama that pops off. Shootings sometimes. It can get crazy. So as long as u drink ur beer and mind up buisness then ull be good

When nobody else has the game, they do! The beautiful sexy bar maids will treat you right. It's always fun here!! After party with dj and local stars as well.

This place is a complete dump. Smells like old beer and the servers are deceitful and rude. Ordered wings and a glass of water and they charged me 3 bucks for a glass of water

Didn't have regular Smirnoff, Fried Mushrooms $8.00 were more grease than mushroom. This used to be a good neighborhood bar with good food. Now....will never return.

Crystal was an amazing bartender. Drinks were yummy but a short on the rocks is a shot not a shot and 1/2. Beautiful surroundings with all the "Ladies" who work here. Chicken finger crinkle fries were very tasty.

Would like if the website said 11 o clock shut down instead of 2a.m. hate coming from laveen just to find out they are shut down other then that good spot

Me and my fiancé and friend were in here on Saturday, my fiancé preformed and we had a blast. Service was excellent and vibe was great. Drinks were awesome as well! We will be making the hour drive again.

Haven’t tried the food yet, really nice atmosphere! Employee are very attentive.

Apparently basketball shorts are not appropriate attire for this wonderful establishment. And the security guards don't tell you until after you're frisked and your ID had been checked. G t f o h.

Have been here several times for the wings and every single time THEY ARE ON POINT. They aren’t small like other places. BTW The hot isn’t really that hot lol. Crispy and sloppy is a must.

Just a great neighborhood bar and grill. Something that is not around much anymore. A ++ all around!!!
