In all honesty it deserves a 3.5, entrée wise. The service was the best I've had in a long time. Our waiter helped us through the menu, and let us know what everything on it was. Great service. However their signature dish (a pricey one at that) left a lot to be desired. While very savory and cooked to perfection it was very empty. Compared to the pictures it was a very small portion. About 2 spoonfuls of risotto, and 3 bites of the braised beef. All very delicious but not filling. The appetizers were the real show stoppers. From the pork rinds to the bacon wrapped dates it was all delicious. The only thing on the starters menu that feels out of place and overpriced is the Warm Baguette, it was mid. The drinks, both cocktails and their non-alcoholic mocktails were splendidly mixed and balanced. The rack of lamb, a 55 dollar dish was essentially 2 rib bones with about 2 ounces actual meat on them. Will definitely return to see if all of this was a one off. But the service, drinks and ambiance are exactly what you would want on a night out for a nice dinner.

The food and service here is AMAZING! Been a long time since I had food this good. It did not disappoint. It's busy every night so try to get reservations. If you have a small enough party definitely sit at the "chef's table". Best perk here is that the chef's may just give you tasty little bites of things in between your courses. You'll also have views of the kitchen along with all the food prep. Just know that you'll be sitting at a counter instead of a table. One of their signature dishes, the Osso Bucco is TO DIE FOR! I never order or even eat veal, but it was a specialty and recommended. It was so good I wanted to lick the plate. The risotto that comes with it is especially tasty. Get the Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Dates as an appetizer. They normally come with 3 so take your server up on their offer to make it 4+. You'll each want several of your own. The chocolate souffle is very good and light. I can't wait to go back here to try more. The service was top notch as well, something pretty rare these days. Hands down one of the best restaurants in the PNW!

Our group went family-style and got 3 appetizers, 4 entrées, and 1 dessert, which turned out to be just the right amount of food for 3 (very) hungry people. The dishes were delicious, featuring well-matched combinations of ingredients. (See photos and captions for more detail.) The cocktail menu has some fascinating twists on well-known classics (along with the classics themselves). Overall a good experience. The only thing stopping this from being a 5-star review is service -- though absolutely no fault of the waiter. It seemed like the place was generally understaffed, and there was only the one waiter working the entire main dining area for most of our meal. Still excellent service, but he had precious little time for each table -- of which there were many. Possibly for this reason (or otherwise), we were also asked to put in our combined appetizers+entrées order all at once.

One of the best restaurants Amanda and I have ever been to. The staff was very friendly and the food man. I have been to fancy restaurants before but nothing was this good. I also got sticker shock with the price. I was expecting to pay over 200. Even with the tip (we over tipped that is how good our server and the whole staff was), we never came close to 200. The only negative was Amanda ordered lemonade w/lavender syrup (non alcoholic) and they most have got busy and forgot about it. They did not charge us for it, so there was no issue there. Our server did a great job and we are not letting 1 oversight ruin a great experience. We can not wait to come back to Portland so we can go back to Q. Thanks to Chef Annie and her staff.

I love to dine at Q! It is a wonderful place for a pre-theater dinner! The service is impeccable and the timing for a tighter schedule is perfect! My Beanies Cocktail was a great way to start a rainy night dinner! The seasonal salad with miso dressing was a unique spring salad with crispy parsnips and radishes accompanying the asparagus and shitake mushrooms. I had the crispy relleno that was also an unexpected meal. The Meyer Lemon Semi Freddo with blood oranges was delicious! The entire meal was filled with great flavors and textures! It is always fun to sample their seasonal offerings. I am looking forward to my next visit! It is always a special place!

This is the “new” location/re-boot of Veritable Quandary and I was reminded why that restaurant was so fantastic! We didn’t make a reservation so we found a spot at the bar. They were very busy but the service was still great. They were friendly, fast and the food was as delicious as I remembered. We shared the pear salad with honey, pepper vinaigrette, NY strip steak with potatoes au gratin, pumpkin dumplings, with crispy, pancetta and crème fraîche and the lamb meatballs. The bartender was fabulous! The signature drinks on the cocktail menu were not as great as others were raving about but were still good. Already planning our return date night here with a reservation !

I happened to notice this wonderful restaurant while walking through Portland on a beautiful Saturday. They were serving brunch so I decided to give it a try. I ordered one of their specialty cocktails, the Dr No, it was excellent! For my main course I had the Pot Pie, it was served piping hot with a perfect crust. The insides filled with root vegetables and chicken, really delicious on a cold winter day. For dessert I tried the apple and cranberry crumble paired with the suggested dessert wine from Hungary. I savored every little bite. The service was prompt and friendly. My only suggestion would be to provide a cloth napkin/placemat for guests sitting at the stone top bar. They placed dishes and utensils directly on the bar, which kind of grosses me out. Other than that, a perfect dining experience.

This was our first visit since VQ closed and we were amazed at how great everything was and how much the experience lived up to our expectations. If we only get down to Portland once a year, it will be for our Pi(e) Day Wedding Anniversary every year. Great welcome by the host staff, and custom Happy Anniversary menus were printed for us. Amazing service and very understanding about the 5 month old baby sitting on our laps, making noise during dinner. Food was better than we remembered; my husband could still remember the first time he had the osso bucco 5 years ago and said it more than lived up to memory. To end the fabulous night there was a candle on the pie to celebrate our special day. Thank you so much for a fabulous evening and anniversary, and we hope to be back soon.

My favorite place for a fancy dinner! I've taken my husband there, his friends, my ex-husband, my mother, my realtor, and one of my best friends. It's not cheap, but the food and wine are just amazing. It's actually one of the only places where I'll order alcohol. The desserts are to die for. Parking around there isn't hard, and I've often been able to park right in front. The staff is amazing. One waiter complimented my husband on his magnificent beard and remembered us months later. One of the waitresses had a Misfits tattoo and she was so excited when I recognized it. Just writing this review, I want to book a table. Highly recommended!

Came highly recommended by a few dear friends. The place is well kept and quaint. Staffs were freindly. We were quickly seated. Menu had a lot unique dishes and everything looked tantalizing. We settled for the Deviled caviar deviled egg, pear salad, Osso Bucco, and Seafood stew. The foods were scrumptious. Everything were prepared and paired well. The few highlights were the refreshing pear salad, tender and juice osso bucco and the seafood. The only thing I thought they could have done better is clean the beard off mussels a bit more. Otherwise a definate place for great food downtown Portland.

I am a better man for coming here tonight. Every time I walk pass here they’re always packed. Tonight there were far less occupied seats and I wasn’t in the mood to cook dinner. Thank you everyone at Q for making my visit worthwhile. I had the Seafood stew with toasted and the cobbler for desert. I know we eat with our eyes first but everything smelled so great that I ate it all before we even made eye contact. The staff recommendations were superb and made the experience just that much more delectable. I will definitely return during my stay in Portland. Go check out Annie and Victor everyone. You will not be disappointed

Q Restaurant & Bar provides outstanding food and service. I ordered bacon wrapped dates for my appetizer, Osso Buco for my entree, and piña colada tres leches cake for dessert. Each portion of my meal was exceptional. The Osso Buco the best I’ve ever had, and the tresleches dessert was unique and very flavorful. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming, and my server was amazing, she was timely and attentive to all my dining needs. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I will return the next time I’m in Portland.

Went here for lunch and ordered the Q burger as well as white fish served with coconut rice. We enjoyed the fish as well as the rice, if only the burger had been half as good as that dish. Though the flavor wasn’t bad, it was a shock that the medium cooked burger that I ordered turned out to be well done and packed with steak juices. It would require wiping after each bite to prevent juices from dripping down my face. The burger soaked the plate juices and was just too messy for my liking to eat. The burger was too tough and too fatty, it made for a very difficult time to engage in conversation.

We happened upon Q while we were walking to another restaurant when we recently visited Portland. The menu enticed us and we went in to see if they had room for us. The staff was very friendly and they went out of their way to accommodate us. We were very impressed with the service, but the real treat was the absolutely exceptional food. We both ordered something different and both items were fabulous. We cannot say enough good about this restaurant and the chef and her team. Thank you for an amazing culinary experience. We will be back!

A friend and I dropped in one evening because we thought we wanted Luc Lac (across the street) but realized we didn't want to wait for Luc Lac. We decided to try out Q and wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. We appreciated the freshness and quality of the ingredients in our pizza. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that I ordered a an albacore tuna dish but there actually wasn't much tuna on it, which was a disappointment because the tuna from the nibble I got out of it, it tasted good. It feels like such a small thing to dock out a star...but I have to be true to myself and my experience.

  • Autumn Redwood

We had the hidden gem of a tasting menu at Q. It was a 9 course menu and every morsel of every bite was incredible. We sat at the Chef’s counter and the interaction with the chefs (especially Victor, McKenzie and Marcos) elevated the entire experience. We could taste the passion they put into the menu and we devoured everything. We were so absorbed in the experience we didn’t even take pictures. Absolute 5 star restaurant experience in Portland.

My partner and I have been here twice now, once for dinner and once for brunch. We were very pleased both times. For dinner, I had the Osso Buco, which was amazing. Dessert was the lemon pudding cake, which also very good. Not too sweet, not too tart. For brunch, I had the Chilaquiles, which were exactly as good as they were at VQ. My partner had the Blackened Catfish and was very happy with it. Service was top notch both times, as good as you would expect for a restaurant at this price range. Reservations are definitely recommended, it's been busy both times we've been there.

Ive been coming here since it was the Veritable Quandry. 20+ years? Peak time is noisey and a little cramped. Last time I was there I had a large loud group right next to me. It was difficult to enjoy ourselves. Nonpeak times are lovely.

After loving Veritable Quandry (RIP), I went to Q with a party of 4 from work. The space feels a bit cramped and the hard square wood benches in the booths were tight for all of us. The food was very good and service was okay. At the same time, the place wasn't exactly welcoming. It was full and looks like it usually is. We had reservations and were seated quickly. A lot of the entrees are $40+ there now.

This was my first time here and it was as amazing as I had been told. I got the Baby Back Pork Ribs in Oaxacan Mole. The meat was super tender, and the mole was a beautiful, rich flavor. The meal was overall, amazing. The service was on point. Not annoying, but there when needed and always polite and considerate. The atmosphere was also wonderful. In short, the whole experience was fantastic and I highly recommend it. I will definitely be visiting again.

This is one of the best restaurants in Portland. The staff is incredible, the food is outstanding, and the atmosphere is chic. They leave the huge sliding windows open as well, and seat people as far apart from other parties as possible. We had the Osso Bucco with risotto and the Hanger steak with potatoes and broccolini. Side note: eat the marrow. It's like gravy, although that's like calling caviar "fish eggs". This was the best meal we've had in a long time. I don't give 5 stars often. This place earned it.

First dinner in the Portland area to start my Willamette wine tour weekend and this restaurant did not disappoint. The ambiance was really nice and I can see why the warm time of year this restaurant being a nice place to visit. The food was delicious. Downtown Portland is the eating and drinking haven . We had tapas at @q_portland which included grilled octopus, Brussels sprouts, seafood soup and the special not on the menu - smoked fish lavash. We had an interactive front seat at the chefs table. I love watching the chefs in action, especially on a busy Friday night. The service was great and would definitely plan to return based on that alone. We enjoyed the food. The soup needed a bit of seasoning for our palette BUT it was very fresh

We had an absolute magical evening, sitting at the chef’s table. The food was fabulous, the recommended wine was also. Got the steak, Chile Relleno, squid ink pasta, bruschetta, peaches, and figs … would purchase all again!! The chefs were so delightful and knowledgeable, and made our experience even better!! 10/10

Everything about this first visit was extraordinary!!! DO sit at the counter! You'll get to meet the fantastic staff. DO try as many things as are offered (at the counter, wee samples find their way to you to try!). I was honored to meet Chef. She's assembled a top-notch team that brings farm to table in ways that will make your taste buds sing! Today was indeed my first time - can't wait to visit again. Try them soon! You'll be blown deliciously away!!!

The seating at the kitchen window is fabulous! Interacting with the kitchen staff and chef makes it an experience. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and fun. The food was complex, delicious, and beautifully plated. Everything was served on time. Loved the short rib as it was tender. The sauce/dressings of each meal really added a lot of flavor too. I liked the mix of thin sliced apples with the slightly salty sauce. We didn’t like the seafood and house meal as much as the short rib, though the crab had a delicious buttery texture. Overall, would highly recommend!

Stuff is very caring and educated , great service and great food ! Octopus salad was amazing ! For main dish I had Hawaiian fish with mango and rice - delicious. I love fruits and I’m pescatarian, that dish was a great combination for my taste. Thank you for such a cool spot !

Had a wonderful meal for date night. Service was very attentive and quick! The food came out perfectly timed, temperature was perfect, presentation was amazing. Loved the duck spring rolls and bruschetta. The wahu fish was spectacular as well and the ricotta gnocchi wasn’t bad but it’s a little misleading since it was only ricotta balls and I guess I was expecting gnocchi pasta. Overall a grand place.

Our service was fantastic. Our waitress was attentive and walked us through the menu options. The tomato, peach, and burrata appetizer was so fresh and flavorful. The gnocchi were pillowy and delicate, but stood up to the flavorful sauce and sausage.

Delicious food but insanely long wait even after seated. I understand many restaurants have not enough staff, but there were plenty of people on the floor. We weren’t the only patrons frustrated with the service. We were ignored by numerous

What a great find in downtown Portland that was recommended by our hotel concierge. Great menu of selections with some really tasty seasonal options. The food was fresh, presented well, and full of flavor. Very attentive and courteous staff

  • DoTheJane Fonda

Great atmosphere, incredible service. We sat in front of the kitchen, which was a really cool experience. The food was, for the most part, great. HOWEVER, everything we ordered that came from the grill was pretty badly charred, and the

Very nice lunch of beef stroganoff. Good house red wine. Looking forward to coming back for dinner. We went back for lunch and this time I had NY strip skewer with wonderful vegetables and a reduction sauce. It was wonderful as usual.

  • Zsofi

Underwhelming experience. Service was quick but unfriendly and the food was utterly bland and boring. Ingredients were nice quality but the food lacked flavor and umami. I ordered the grilled kampachi which tasted like a home cooked

  • Zach Parrish

I would give it a zero if I could. The service is overly arrogant and the first true experience of the tatoo elitism that I have avoided in my 15 plus years visiting for business. THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR OUT OF TOWN GUESTS. Horrible

Had a great time eating here. Loved the Filet Mignon the best. The seafood stew was really good as well. (Mussels were so fresh!) The Mille Crepe was also nice though a bit too sweet for me. Overall a great dining experience here.

  • Josh Mandelberger

Food and drinks were excellent, service was a little on the slow side though they were pretty slammed when I was there. Their Osso Bucco was savory and delicious, I thought the little fork to dig out the marrow was a great touch.

  • Ashley Stone

Everything I had here was great! It was my 1st time too. I'll be back next time I'm in Portland!

A great place for a nice business lunch or even a casual lunch. The service here is stellar and the food is also great. One of favorite items here is their Reuben Sandwich. Its tasty, but a bit messy...but definitely worth it.

Very nice place, decent menu and great drinks choices. I have uploaded a copy of the current menu. I had the Q burger and it was very excellent!!!

Always delicious and in set in a lively, upscale-but-relaxed atmosphere. Great wine selection and cocktails, salads and entrees, as well as some tasty small plates and appetizers. A little pricey, but well worth it.

  • Joe V

You can tell a well-run restaurant almost immediately when you walk in and this is the feeling you get as soon as you enter this spot. The space itself is very warm and welcoming and the staff is just as pleasant.

  • Shane Neugass

My family really enjoyed this place. Small but well thought out menu with delicious food highlighting a few locally sourced ingredients.

Great food and service here. I got the beef stroganoff and it was delicious. Very thin noodles with a ton of flavor. Very tender steak. Good ambience. We also got the apple cider here and that was equally amazing.

  • Clint Warren

I had a great business dinner here tonight. The hostess was very friendly, our server was very good and walked us through the entire menu. Drinks were great and my hanger steak (pictured) was absolutely amazing!

Honestly I really think the food is good, but not for the price. Easily spend couple hundred bucks if you drink a lot. The food definitely amazing but the dessert is really sweet and I don’t really like that…

  • Matt Bolton

Got the lunch prix fixe. Winter greens and citrus salad with goat cheese, mole and chicken flautas, and a dollop of ice cream and cookie for dessert. Outstanding

The bacon wrapped dates are a must have for an app! Delecious all round meal; A little expensive but the flavor pallette is well worth it! Also are able to accommodate various allergens including gluten.

  • Noel Paterson

Fantastic food. Great atmosphere. Staff was very friendly. The flat iron steak was aMAzing. The tuna was also very good. Try the ice cream sandwich for dessert. Small, but tasty! Definitely recommend Q.

Great food, solid presentation, great service. I highly recommend the food. It's a seasonal menu, but you can't go wrong with anything they sell.

Another amazing dining experience in Portland! Everything we had was done to perfection along with the service. Try the pork chop and the fresh catch but leave room for desert...it had to be shared.

  • Divyang Riziya

Staff was one of the nicest I've met. ERIN especially was wonderful. Made our son we such a nice time. Went for a 5 course vegetarian chiefs special and were surprised with each course. Must go.

  • Cindy Tsai

Excellent Pacific Northwest cuisine and fun cocktails! Tuna salad with local greens was excellent and generous portions. Be warned though they open till midnight the dining room closes at 10pm

  • Ashish Singh

I had the baby spinach salad with mushrooms. The musrooms were well seasoned and tasted very hearty. The ambience is nice. The price on some of the entree's could go up to $40.

  • Michael Frodyma

Incredible meal with a staff that knows exactly when to be by your table and when not to. Very nice wine list as well. Duck confit egg rolls and osso bucco were outstanding.

  • Matt C

Excellent selection of vegetarian and dietary options! The menu might be simple, but the dishes are all delightful. Charmaine was a wonderful host to us! Will be back soon.

  • Shibalik Chakraborty

One more Portland favs. Food is absolutely delicious. I had the Chilaquiles and they had a variety of flavor profiles. Would definitely be back for more.

  • Chris Foley

Owesome! Great food (unique)and service. A little pricey, but much better than some of the other places we visited with similar pricing.

  • Lama Mouawad

We went for a drink and some snacks. I love the ambiance and the service is extremely friendly. The food was great, I will be back.

  • Blaze S

A place with great vibes and food! I got Osso Buco and tomato soup. Super delicious. The staffs here are friendly and professional!

  • Chang Su

The food is amazing, service is fantastic, elegant decor. It has all the ingredients of a great restaurant. Highly recommended.

  • Walt Moorhouse

Would be 5 stars if the bar wasn't so slow. Order your drinks about 20 minutes before you need another or go thirsty.

  • Lejin

Must be hands down the best restaurant I've been to in Portland. Great food, amazing service, lovely ambience. More

  • Seth Morris

Everything is delicious, from the drink, to the bacon wrapped dates, to the hanger steak, and finally the tart!
