Reid-Hillview Airport is a jewel of an airport and a great asset to pilots and the surrounding community. I've been an flight instructor for 15 years and have given over 7,000 hours of instruction in that time (LearnToFlyWithPilotGuy). I've trained many a student at Reid-Hillview and San Martin Airport (where I currently instruct) and have found RHV an ideal environment for training. When my San Martin Airport students are ready for towered communications, Reid-Hillview Airport is where we fly to develop and polish their tower communication skills. The tower/ground personnel are always welcoming which is a great situation for student pilots who may initally have some apprehension about talking to a tower or ground controller for the first time. This airport is also an asset to the community and has been used to support firefighting and other supportive services for the community. Even for the non-flying public it is a wonderful and welcoming spot for them to visit their airport with their children and enjoy the sights and sounds of aircraft landing and lifting off into the air, all while enjoying a sandwich or two.

Reid was a great little airport where you can keep your plane, rent a plane or get flying lessons. The County has taken over fuel service and 100ll is no longer available. They are purposely killing the airport so they can use the land for other development under the false pretense of lead poisoning affecting the community around the airport. Very sad to see such a wonderful little airport falling appart due to political agendas. So sad for our community. If it was really an issue with leaded gasoline why haven't they banned leaded gas at south county? Are the communities around South County second class communities? Shame on the Santa Clara board of supervisors for playing games.

Attended the Community Day and managed to see up close and personal some of the amazing machines on display. Some of these machines look big on the outside but are tiny on the inside while others looked really sketchy to me as they seem so fragile, but are clearly airworthy. Would have been nice to be able to jump inside some of them and pretend to be Maverick for a few moments and feel the need for speed…

Used this airport as main base for emergency operations following the 1989 earthquake. Flew many flight for relief of Watsonville area blocked for ground transit. The two runways are the only pair for use in GA in the bay area rest have one. Not good in an emergency, one may be damaged in quake yet other usable. We need Reid Hillview for future emergency. Please stop city from closing her.

Great airport, pretty convenient for access to San Jose and the closest you can get to the SF Bay from the south without doing a ton of radio work. Underfunded and underappreciated by the county, but still nice thanks to the tenants working together to keep it up. EAA meets here normally, along with other aviation and disaster relief groups. Controllers are also good and friendly

Awesome airport, lots of aviation history with this airport. If you are looking to become an amazing pilot look no further, Reid-Hillview airport is the best airport for flight training for price and quality. Being a class Delta airspace students learn how to work an airspace far superior than non-towered airports

Reid Hillview is a fantastic general aviation airport with a slew of flight training and enthusiast operators to stretch your pilot wings. Its location in east bay puts it just outside the complex airspace up the peninsula, so it's a great place to learn.

So many planes flying ahead all day/ night, I can't hear myself think. No noise restrictions on this airport has made the local neighborhood unlivable. Hope someone flies their loud planes where these pilots live all day and night …

Just went here for the annual Hot San Jose nights car show. It usually features hot rods, classics, muscle and foreign cars, not so many this year. They also had a band, some military vehicles and a few private aircraft along with a couple

Leaded fuel makes your IQ drop which is why the neighborhood kids are suffering. Because they are poor, they don’t care. Special statistical analysis has determined it’s the lead in the fuel. Thank Reid Hillview for generational setbacks.

It’s a real shame that the loud and obnoxious are allowed to influence the closure of such a valuable resource. You can’t rebuilt airports, because inevitably people will build homes nearby, then complain. The argument that people are

If you need a hanger or try out flying training classes this is the place to be ! Also ,they have space available (full runway) for events in the shadows of small planes .check out for event happening her much of the year!

Great place to be, seeing all kind of airplanes, from training to comercial or private activity. I don't know what is in the mind of those politicians who want to close it, perhaps personal greedy interest.

  • Marcelo Bizantino

Airport location and accessibility is great. It has a pilot shop and a lot of great learn to fly schools. It even has a BBQ place. Also, they organize several events throughout the year for families.

9/2/2022 A great local airport in Silicon Valley. Gathering location for community events. Home for the Civil Air Patrol. Would be a lost to the community if converted to housing/commercial use.

I am reviewing this from the perspective of a bike rider and not the actual airport. Cunningham ave is a nice road to bike on. You get to see many flights up close

  • Jake Blozan

Great FBOs, parallel runway is great for training, tower is nice and understanding, lots of on-site events, always something exciting going on, great airport.

I have no idea how I posted a review of this airport. I have not flown into or out of Reid-Hillview. So l will keep the review and hope to visit it sometime.

  • BayAreaAviation HD

My favorite airport in the Bay Area. Tie down fees and gas prices are much much cheaper at KRHV rather than going to San Jose International Airport.

  • jason brown

Great local asset. Nice to have in the area in case of disaster they can provide disaster relief. Nice place to watch airplanes fly. Alway fun

  • Nikolaus Lindberg

Cute little County Airport. Definitely shows it's age, but in a good nostalgic way. I suspect it'd be interesting to see it 30-40 years ago.

  • gaurav kakade

Great place to try out “Learn to Fly Bay tour” . Sergey was cool instructor and made the flying experience enthralling.

  • Hudi

Great place to learn to fly. There are or 5 flight schools. The tower is open till 10pm and very professional.

  • Ariel

A place exposes the neighborhood to high lead levels thanks to the leaded aviation fuel the small planes use.

  • Klairung J

Very convenient airport to land and leave your plane for a weekend or more. The free is very fair.

  • David Lombardo

Awesome airport. Check out the "From the Flight Deck" FAA video we produced for this.
