We visited this restaurant tonight that had garnered positive reviews and captivating photos, creating high expectations for a delightful dining experience. However, my encounter at the restaurant left much to be desired. Despite the promising start, several aspects of the visit led to disappointment and frustration. Upon entering, we communicated in French, because we can speak it. Unfortunately, the staff consistently replied in English, creating a language barrier that hindered seamless communication and contributed to a sense of disconnect. While the initial course, the entree, showed promise, our enjoyment was short-lived. Surprisingly, the main course was brought to our table while we were still savoring our entree. This untimely delivery disrupted the pacing of the meal and left us feeling rushed. To make matters worse, the restaurant misunderstood our order and served pasta instead of the anticipated pizza. The other main dish that arrived, a plate of gnocchi, was uninspiring. The lack of flavor left much to be desired, and even a liberal sprinkling of salt only marginally improved the situation. The absence of taste was a stark contrast to the promising descriptions we had read and the visually appealing images that initially drew us to the restaurant. Tragically, the culinary disappointment was further compounded by the unfortunate aftermath. The food not only failed to live up to its reputation but also left us feeling unwell.

Very poor service overshadowed otherwise good food. We ordered a pizza and a steak. The pizza was great, the steak was well done when we asked for medium. We politely pointed this out to the lady waiter, who immediately reacted as if we were the worst people in the world. They did take our steak and promptly brought us a new one, which we immediately thanked them for. Second time however the steak was blue... we very kindly asked if they could cook it slightly longer and the waiter flipped on us, told that it was medium (it was raw) and told us she didn't speak English before continuing to serve the remaining customers in English. She was rude and abrupt for the remainder of the meal and we basically felt uncomfortable trying to enjoy our meal. No one ever apologised for our poor experience even though other employees had witnessed the whole thing. The food itself was nice, and it was a shame we ended up having such a poor experience.

Absolutely great find! We stumbled upon Carpe Diem while looking for a late lunch spot & so happy we found this gem! The food was incredibly delicious & service was warm and friendly. Our wonderful server gave us complimentary limoncello at the end - who ever says no to that?! My friend did the pre-set menu and I decided to go with pasta with lobster & shrimp. I have worked at an Italian restaurant & been to Italy - my pasta was the best thing I had in my whole trip to France. It was cooked perfectly, lightly sauced and with lots of flavor! My friends mussels frites were also yummy, but honestly I was focused on devouring my dish. We shared a dessert, because why not? The lunch was at quite a liesurely pace of 3+ hours & we did not mind. We tried going back for on our last night but unfortunately they were closed. This is a definitely a great lunch or dinner spot!

Simply delicious! We had been in Nice for three days, and hadn't had any Italian food. Someone mentioned that Nice was more like Italy than France and we must try pizza and pasta. Naturally when some says that you immediately start craving those things. ;) Luckily, the timing of our hunger and willingness to settle on a place all party members agreed on, landed us here. This place was so good! Not to mention, the service was outstanding. They spoke English and were very patient with us. I had the classic pasta with shellfish. I had never had this dish before in my life, but wanted to try it while here and it's now easily one of my favorite dishes ever. My fiancé had the Gnocchi with 5 cheeses and that was equally good!! We will be going back tomorrow!!

Nous avons eu une expérience peu satisfaisante lors de notre passage. Le service à été très rapide et les serveurs étaient absents de notre salle. Il a été très compliqué de demander du pain et de l'eau lors de notre repas. D'autant plus que les serveurs avaient un mal fou à comprendre le français. Les plats étaient bon mais les frites ne sont pas maison comme c'est indiqué sur la carte. Les pizzas ont l'air très bonne mais nous ne les avons pas goûtées.

Bon accueil, la carte propose pizza, viandes, poissons, pâtes. Les spaghettis aux langoustines et crevettes et les pâtes aux fruits de mer sont bien cuisinés , c'est très bon . Prix modéré, c'est une bonne adresse pour un repas dans la vieille ville. Service en salle, ou à l'extérieur sur les tables installées dans la rue qui n'est pas trop passante.

We've ordered Caesar salad and pasta with seafood. Both dishes were very good. I took the pasta and I must say it was delicious, the seafood was prepared so well that it was very easy to separate from shells, it was tasty, the sauce was deliciously tasty and the pasta was al dente. Really liked it. Very nice work. We took tiramisu and chocolate panna cotta for desert. They were also very tasty! The restaurant is located on a small cosy street of the old Nice, atmospheric and beautiful. Really enjoyed it.

We went for dinner here during a storm and were so lucky! The restaurant is small but the service is good, the atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the food was great. I had the Entrecôte (boneless ribeye) with Gorgonzola and it was fabulous! Also the small setting allowed us to strike up a conversation with ppl at other tables which made the evening even more charming!

*Incredible* pizza in a picturesque street in Old Nice. Giuliano was very welcoming and friendly, he was patient and kind with our poor attempts at French and happily helped us in English. He was fantastic! Very kind and gave us suggestions on our trip the next day to Italy. His pizza is a multi-time world champion winner in Napoli and I completely understand why. It is incredible food! Takeaway options were much appreciated, but the atmosphere made it well worth eating in. Truly a gem, don't miss out!

Overall experience, just 1 star . Empty restaurant at 6 pm (literally 3 tables outside with guests).Wanted a quick meal (one pizza to share) and 2 vines. Obviously, it is a huge problem , YOU HAVE TO ORDER ONE MAIN MEAL PER PERSON. We were allowed to stay only as 4 guests next to us were also surprised. Felt very unwelcome during the 20 minutes meal, especially when the waiter explained in French language to the chief why only one pizza . Not recommending, tourists trap. Bonne pizza, endroit tranquille, service correct. Un petit bémol quand même, c'est le gérant qui me demande à la sortie des sanitaires, après le repas, si j'avais une table dans le resto?!? (Sous-entendu bien sûr, êtes-vous là pour manger ou juste pour utiliser les WC) Il aurait quand même pu demander aux serveurs au lieu de m'offrir ce moment de gêne inutile. Très maladroit et désagréable.

Good food, the sauces are flavorful, the cheese has a good taste. The pizza dough has a good texture. The service wait time is reasonable. The seating is comfortable, outside seating available. Prices are on the high end, which is something you see in this area. The restaurant appeared clean. Service could improve, the way they talk to costumers makes you feel like you are not welcomed.

Nous avions très faim et nous sommes passés devant ce restaurant très accueillant, des tables avec des petits coussins sur les chaises avaient été mise à disposition pour les tables extérieur. L'endroit est climatisé et on y mange très bien. Nous avons pris un menu qui comprend entrée plat dessert et c'est difficile de finir. Les plats sont jolies et très bons. Je recommande.

Had a great plate of Gnocchi with some wine for an excellent price for the quality served. We started with a bruschetta, which was really nice and my wife had a pasta carbonara with a very nice quality pasta and lots of flavor. The only downside, which isnt really a downside, is that they served too much food Amazing quality for the price. Can definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful supper at Carpe Diem this evening. Lovely small family run restaurant vibe. The Calzone pizza was the best pizza I’ve ever had (but I am heading to Italy tomorrow so this could change quickly.. but safe to say it’s really tasty). Eighth day in France and this and the ravioli my wife got were the two best supper main courses we’ve had so far.

Très bon restaurant. Les suggestions pour le vin étaient pertinentes et satisfaisante (bouteille finie d'une traite). Je recommande la pizza à la truffe était crémeuse à souhait. Mention spéciale à Tomazo aka mon petit tomate pour son service aussi chaleureux que la vue de sa moustache.

We were looking for a true Italian dinner spot and were not disappointed. The pizza was an absolute delight and the bolognese was also spot on. The service was very friendly - and surprisingly fast! I think the prices are fair for the quality of food. Just the outside seating wasn‘t as moody as wished. All in all a good experience! Plus

The bolognese pasta was very good, the milanese escalope was great as well. It is rare to find a good restaurant with reasonable prices in this area so it deserves 5 stars.

Decent restaurant with mediocre food. Nice staff, but not very attentive. Ordered the seafood pasta with langoustines - tasted like a plate of sea water. The Crème brûlée was delicious. The restaurant itself is a sad sight in a very dark alley with an occasional noisy motorbike breaking the silence. Average priced.

Place is very cozy and good located in old town on way to Castle hill. I ordered Caesar salad, my wife beef steak (medium) with french fries and two glasses of good Italian wine. Food was amazing tasty and prices reasonable. Owner was kind and friendly. Highly recommend this place

Really yummy, service and quality. We had lunch there and tried aborigine with parmesan, see food pizza and mussels, they were really good. Recommended.

We stopped here for dinner after arriving in Nice late last night and did we get lucky! The people who work here were extremely hospitable and the food was delicious. The mussels and frites were amazing and the Dorade fish was baked perfectly and finished with a nice char. Would highly recommend!

We ordered the truffle pizza which was very good but a little too oily. The pizza was very large for one person as they insisted we couldn’t share. Overall it was ok but it is not a place I would necessarily go back to.

Petit restaurant chaleureux dans les rues du vieux Nice. Intimiste, très agréable. Le personnel prends soin de ses clients et nous y mangeons super bien ! Je recommande les yeux fermé ! Service de qualité et prix pas excessif ! Et super Meloncello fait maison !!

Honnêtement une des meilleures pizzas que j'ai mangé. La Pizza Burata avec les tomates coeur de boeuf était exceptionnelle. Le meloncello maison du chef superbe également. Le chef est champion du monde de pizza 2014. Et les prix sont très abordables !

Ordered delivery through Postmates, and the food was delicious. Wine was cold, food tasted great, and everything came in microwave-ready containers. The menu has many great options, and would recommend stopping by or ordering while in Nice.

A great Italian restaurant for seafood in the heart of Old Nice. There's a great selection of options with the combo meal. I highly highly recommend the moules frites where you get an endless bucket of mussels and great tasting fries!

Amazing. Loved every bite of my gnocchi, we will be back!

Delicious 3 course fixed menu for a very reasonable price! Owner or manager who greeted us was a fantastic host. Also had an ipad menu that could translate to all languages.

The burrata pizza was beautiful. The best pizza I have had in France, tomatoes were fresh and pesto sauce was perfect. Staff were great. Would definitely come back again.
