I am probably among some of the oldest customers of this bike shop since I work around the corner at a local nonprofit organization and first came in a few days after it opened. Rey's Bike Shop in my opinion is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood ... Maybe I'm a little bias since I bike to and from work...I have from time to time purchased bike accessories when I needed them and also have had some work done on my bikes.I The shop owner, whose name I guess is Rey, replaced tires on a $500 bike I bought at another store. The tires he recommended were much better than the tires which came with the bike. I also once had to buy an inner tube from him after realizing one day I had a flat tire. When I got the store I realized I didn't have my wallet and without even asking he said I could take the inner tube and pay him back the next day. Nevertheless, I returned that day and paid him his money. I have purchased a couple of used bikes from him. Most recently I traded one in and bought a used limited edition Cannondale mountain bike.. It is probably one of the best bikes I have ever owned. It has front and rear suspension. After a few days riding it a small pin connecting the rear chain stay fell out,. I bought it in and he said he would see what he could do. When I returned later that day, he had replaced the entire rear derailleur and at no cost. He even put a new seat on it since I was having trouble with the seat post. I didn't pay a cent...That was yesterday so I figured after all of that the least i could is write him a good review on Google and Yelp.
This man is amazing. I have a 1989 Schwinn Roadbike I bought in NorCal in 2010 as an undergrad and adore my bike. After being run over by a car in 2017 , my front wheel, fork, handle bar, pedals and chain ring were unusable. While all other bike shops told me to give up on my beloved bike, Moises said it would be no problem and brought my bicycle back to life. He understood the bike is special to me and replaced all the damaged components with era equivalent pieces and to this day takes extremely good care of my bike. In order to accommodate for an electric wheel I added to my bicycle, he ensured that I have a steel fork strong enough for the torque. Bring your bike here. It is a small business and might lack a website or even proper recording of bike prices but Moises has been in the area for decades and works for the people of the neighborhood. Any gentrifiers that distrust him should know that they are the reason he had to move from Echo Park and should give Moises a chance as oppose to criticizing him. In pictures, the chrome fork and ebike wheel and the before crash picture.
Perhaps the best bike shop I have ever set foot in. That is rly saying something since I lived 7 yrs in Davis, CA A.K.A bike heaven of the U.S. The amount of high quality parts and versatility and patience of the the shop owner are really worth the meet-you-in-the-middle-price. I fixed up a 1972 Schwinn Super Sport with white pedals, new brake cables, new front basket, and white handle bar tape. I recently fixed up another schwinn with all the works here as well. The fact that he will order the bike parts that meet your imagination/devised solution to the problem or even jimmy rig it to perfection. Definitely recommend traveling to the top of the hill for this one! Be careful w Menchita's pupusas just a few (1 or 2) blocks away!!
I walked in and asked about commuter bikes and he just ignored me and then after a minute of akaward silence he said he doesn't know anything about bikes. So I asked the second guy in the back if he could show me some commuter bikes and he said just look around... then after another period of akaward silence he says oh the bike guy isn't in. He MIGHT come at 11:30. Like... seriously? There wasn't really a "selection" of bikes you could choose from anyways. I wouldn't waste my time even going into a store like that ever again. I'll take my money and buissnes elsewhere.
This place is incredible! When I ordered my bike online two years ago from Retrospec I brought it here to be put together and the owner did such a great job. I also recently brought it back for a tune up and to replace some rusted pieces and the owner was so helpful in recommending what should be replaced. The price was very reasonable, and he even helped me load the bike into my car afterwards. It's a great local spot.
Rey is the man! We stopped in to have 2 bikes assembled which was very well priced and he completed both bikes in less than 24 hours. The bikes are safely assembled by a professional and ride smoothly. He is a great man, friendly and professional. He informed us how to properly use our bikes. He has a large selection of bikes for sale as well as helmets and other bike necessities. We love Rey!
They'll get the job done more or less, but if you're more than just an occasional cyclist or want more than modest quality work on your bike, I would recommend another bike shop. Rey is nice, but can be a little difficult to communicate with, not as knowledgeable or experienced as other mechanics, and isn't as professional. Some of the work or parts I've had from there have been sub-par.
THE WORST SHOP EVER! told them I would be there in 20 min...5 minutes before they closed.. He said he would wait. I call 10 minutes before closing and he already closed The shop.. No answer... Wasted Subway fare... Today (the next day) I waste a bus fare to get to his shop that is suppose to open at 9am but he's said 10am.. It's 1010 and no one is there.

Rey is a great guy! I came here 3x already and I’ve gotten great service with cleaning, washing, tuning to changing my handle bars to changing my wheels and tires. Great deal and great customer service! I went to other bike shops close by and did not get close to this kind of service! …
I love Reyes Bike Shop! It's in a pretty solid location between Echo Park and North of Westlake. Rey knows what he is doing and I love that he's always willing to help out with any little thing on your bike. He gives honest opinions. Rey speaks Spanish and English which is always a plus.

Can’t express how happy I am to have bought my 1987(?) Nishiki from Rey! Bought it at the start of quarantine and went back today to fix a flat. He remembered me! This is how you do business. Fully support!
Rey is awesome! He consistently does anything I need to my bike and turns it round the same day! He also makes me feel like family and his prices are incredibly reasonable. Love this place.
Just bought a bike from Rey’s and super excited about it! Rey was very nice, patient and helped me pick the right bike. Great to know I can go back for any repairs needs in the future.
A small but good selection of bikes. Moises was really helpful and pleasant - he even affixed my bike lock holder to the bike. The bike was in good condition and fairly priced.
