I was not quite sure what to expect from RiseNY, but am very glad we went. I thought it was informative, interesting and really entertaining. That's a hard thing to manage. The walk through section deals with New York's growth as a city and then it's explosion into the modern media age. It's great - where else is Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street going to tell you to go away? There's bits covering every era and on fashion, TV, movies, music and Broadway, so there is something for everyone in this bit. But the highlight is the 'ride' at the end - even for someone like me who is not a fan of coasters or thrill rides at all and was a little concerned by what it actually was. If you can cope with air travel, you can cope with this. They are a little coy about what it actually is so I won't say too much, but I loved it and it is done really well. Would recommend 100%. It will take about 60 to 90 minutes from start to finish and is basically right on Times Square so it is easy to slot it into even a short trip to NYC. We got in with New York Pass so not sure how much it costs individually - I never checked, but I would have paid it.

On September 2nd, 2023, I visited RiseNY. I was excited about the opportunity to fly over the buildings, rivers, and bridges of New York and to ride the subway. However, I was surprised to learn that the flight itself only lasted 6.5 minutes. In total, the experience (get to the ride) lasted about an hour, but most of that time was spent looking at pictures and reading historical facts about the city. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find that the ride technology was outdated. The same technology was used over 20 years ago in Disney. I expected something more modern, like 3D or augmented reality, but instead, I was shaken in mechanical seats and watched a low-resolution screen. The video quality was not up to my expectations either. I expected 4K quality, but instead, it was just a regular old movie. I also wish there were two types of tickets available - one for just the ride (6.5 minutes) and a second for those who want to see the museum and ride (one hour).

This kept popping up as an option in my searches. Turns out it was literally feet from my hotel on 45th. After reading some reviews, I planned it for my last day as I had time to kill before leaving for the airport. It's actually REALLY cool. You do a little movie in a small room covering the base history of NYC and the boroughs. Then you're allowed to adventure through the museum portion at your own pace. Some just flew through to the ride but if you actually pause to read, there's so many cool facts and artifacts and replicas. Then you do a 4-D ride experience taking you over the city in various areas and over the ocean, modeling after the first televised New Year's Eve ball drop in Times Square. There's also a little overlook where you can pretend you're in the Statue of Liberty's torch (also viewable from outside) but it was closed off and I didn't ask why. Tickets are timed entry but the process was smooth and quick and they usher traffic through easily without making you feel rushed once you're in. I had a really great time!

If you only have one day or a weekend trip to NYC this is the place to go. It looks small from the outside but is well done on the inside. The tickets were a little pricey but no more than other similar experiences. The diverse offerings make it a great overview of the NYC experience. Everyone can find something to be excited by here. Whether it's the artifacts of the creation of the city, to the music, TV, fashion and story of NYC, it's all here. I live in Florida and have ridden Soarin several times. This is just as good as that experience. I even felt teary as the overall theme in New Years in Times square, and I grew up watching it my whole life. Even my husband felt a little teary seeing the birds eye view of the 9/11 Memorial. 100% worth the entire experience.

RiseNY is a relatively new attraction close to Times Square and it was fun! Tickets were available at the counter even on a weekend and is exactly the same price as you see online. As part of this attraction, you get to see a video on New York's evolution, then go through a small museum with displays on all famous attractions of NYC and finally get to go on a 4D ride that takes you through the famous New Year Eve's ball drop. The ride was thrilling and exciting! There is free popcorn available at one spot which was a really nice addition to have. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because I felt that the price of $43.5 (after all additions) per person felt a little too high for the experience. This is going to be a one time visit for us.

If you're looking for a new, quick, and exciting attraction in NYC, then this is the one! It's a relatively small museum, so if you're one of those people that just has to stop at every wall to read, (like myself!) you will most certainly be able to do so without feeling rushed. We purchased tickets online and entered a tad bit early just in case there was a crowd. But, it wasn't too busy on the weekend so the employee at the front desk was kind enough to let us in despite the time of our ticket. Museums like this are extremely important to visit and support as they remind us of the enormous influence a city like NYC has had on the entire nation. Wherever you may come from in the world, you will truly appreciate this! The 4D ride at the end is the cherry on top!

Fun. Pretty short experience and a bit expensive, but might be worth it for the ride at the end alone. The attraction is in Times Square, so it is close to other destinations. The first part of the exhibit was a museum themed around the history of New York. The conclusion was a Disneyland-like ride, which was not scary at all and was a simulated experience. I definitely do not recommend getting the VIP tickets, however, since the lines are nowhere near long enough for the VIP entry benefit to be worth it, and the free merchandise choice was limited to a shirt, a pin, a magnet, or a postcard. Definitely not worth almost $20 more.

I stopped by recently while I was playing tourist in my own city. This is a cute little museum about the history of New York City, but the price of admission is rather costly in comparison to how much you see and how long you stay looking at the exhibits. The main highlight for me was at the end with the 4D ride. It was like flying in a plane just overlooking the entire city. They also have several other exhibits that are interactive with photo opts. The staff is friendly and they have a decent gift shop before you leave. Overall, it is worth checking out while visiting the area if you have about an hour to kill.

Went to visit after seeing an ad online. Finally getting a chance to see things!! Outside of the daily work grind and commuting, really didn't get; or should I say, give myself time to go see, explore, enjoy, relax and just live life. This experience was cool. I do think it's a bit pricey though. Tourist trappy, but as a native, the ride makes it all good!! I did enjoy The Beatles and Notorious BIG displays. All in all, it is short but the ride makes it worth it!!!

Super disappointing. Way over priced for what it was. In the broadway room a staff member yelled directions to everyone that.was lined up. She was talking for 60 or 90 seconds. We could not hear anything because the broadway exhibit was so loud. When the line moved I let her know that I couldn't hear anything. She acted super annoyed and just told me to move forward. We had no clue what was going on, and felt that staff could have repeated themselves since it wasn't our fault we couldn't hear, and we paid a lot of money for this experience. Would not go back.

I loved RiseNY, my first time there and I live here in the city. I enjoyed the entire experience but most especially the last part which was like a ride showing you a 3D projector movie of NYC, it felt like you were in there. My only complaint is that I wish that part ( the last part) was longer, it felt like a 6 minutes ride. Riseny should make it a 15 minutes experience at least. Other than that it was awesome I recommend.

There were 4 workers in the front when we arrived. I had a small coffee. Not one of them said anything about drinks not being allowed on the 2nd floor. So we get up there to be rudely spoken to by the employee who was there. But the walk through, art, information, and visuals were very cool and entertaining. The ride was awesome, except the employees rushing you to read through the health risks, which I found rude.

Visiting from the UK, we started our NYC day 1 sightseeing from RiseNY, would recommend to do that - it’s a great way to start your trip! It takes around 60mins to go through different aspects and history of NYC in your own time, reading through some interesting facts. The simulator ride at the end was the highlight for us. It’s good to do once as an experience!

Excellent experiences. We did this on the first day of our trip. Was good to have a bit of history to orientate around New York. The information was easy to follow and not too much. We went on a Thursday around 12:30, wasn’t busy. The end ride was sooo nice! Was happy we were not with our toddler though, it would not be possible to get off the ride half way.

Visiting from the UK and pleasantly surprised by the rise. It takes about 60/90 mins to complete and is full of very interesting facts. The simulator ride at the end is great too. Our teenagers enjoyed it and it’s suitable for all ages. 10/10 for the staff also, they were all engaged and courteous throughout. Take a sweater as it can be a bit chilly.

Its a great addition to what to do in New York. If you wanna see something different, this is the place to visit. There’s cool stuff to see. I would think spending 1-2 hours here is great. The entrance price is on the high end but the true spectacle is at the end! The ride was so awesome, that we went 3 times! You can ask to go again for a small fee, really fun. Its very new so there is always room for improvement but they started out great! I hope to visit again

This was such an awesome experience. We did book our tickets online in advance but it was quiet when we showed up and I'd say you can probably do walk-ins on weekdays. The museum stuff was pretty cute but the highlight was the ride at the end. It was great! I'd come back just for that virtual ride. Highly recommend if you're visiting New York City.

RiseNY completely exceeded our expectations! The museum was really cool and there were tons of great pictures opportunities. We definitely felt nostalgic going through the different areas. We went at 2pm on a Sunday and it was empty. We did not have to wait and had plenty of time walking through taking everything in. The ride was fantastic, it was not too short and really hit on a bunch of different notes. A must do when in NYC!

  • Gabriela Simion

We loved the experience! The journey takes you through the NY Times square history, a walk through some iconic American shows and ends up with a thrilling 4D experience through the first live TV broadcasting of the ball drop on New Years Eve of 1958 along with a now and then fly through New York. Definitely a must see! Totally recommended!

Located in the heart of Times Square, Rise NYC is one of the most coolest places I’ve been to. This really cool museum sends you through time to see how our great city grew over the years up to our current time! Rise NYC was fun and the ambassador’s there are amazing! I’d say definitely give it a try! You will leave happy you did!!

Very nice experience. If your in New York City there are plenty of things to do. I recommend checking this on out, part museum part history lesson. The Rise part is 4D, reminds me of one of the rides at Universal Orlando. The Rise over NYC part was short but overall a great experience

This was an amazing experience. From the moment you walk in. The history of New York is amazing. I loved the Friends set up and the SNL set. The history of hip hop was my favorite part. But the last room is the absolute best part. I highly recommend this even for the kids.

Nice museum that has a lot more exhibits than you would expect. Covers all aspects of New York from fashion to film to architecture and more. Lots of interactive components starting with a subway simulator and ending with a ride similar to those at Universal or Disney. Incredible, immersive experience! There was also free popcorn!

I suggest going here before starting your new york trip, it was a very nice introduction. It has different areas, it has history, fashion, television and movies, theater and more. And the highlight of the trip is you will be able to fly around new york, it is like the soaring trip from disney. It is so good

One of the most encompassing ways to see and feel all of new york in all its weather's. Plus side. No walking. You get the birds eye view in the fun ride. Safe for young and adults

If you’re visting nyc. You’ve to come check this place out. There is a lot of nyc history in this museum. The ride takes you on a journey thru time of nyc. Don’t be afraid of the ride. Just sit back and enjoy it. Checkout the nyc. I definitely would recommend this place to friends and family.

We weren't expecting much from Rise NY but it turned out to be one of the better attractions we visited. There was a lot more to do in here than just the simulator ride. We really enjoyed all of the exhibition before the ride and the ride itself was great. Thoroughly recommend visiting . More

This an absolute must do. I am from this area. I really try to avoid tourism. But this one is a must for everyone. I don't want to give too many details so I don't spoil it. It is true New york. I felt so nostalgic for the city that sow me grow up. I would this one twice

We sort of found this place on accident. I think it's a bit too new to be one of the top attractions, but you can bet it will be! Visit NYC from it's infancy through the present through a financial/ entertainment lens. It was an amazing mix

  • Natalie Kiely

I had the best time here. I spent an hour in the attraction on my last day in NYC. I'm not sure if it's something to be done at the beginning of your trip to give an overview of what you can visit and see or at the end, to show you what

The 4D “Soarin” over NYC is a thrilling simulation ride. Nice indoor tourist experience on a rainy day. You will spend about 30-40 minutes exploring the museum style galleries prior to the Rise.

We came with high expectations but we felt a bit disappointed. The cinema with moving chairs was the highlight. The museum beforehand couldn’t live up to the hype.
