This is a back packers, Nomad paradise or for those trying to save extra cash. It just a place to rest your head and be lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean. It's no frills and for about 14 euros or 17 usd it's a BARGAIN. The prices will change depending if you pay in person or use a booking website. CAUTION don't use expedia it doesn't work well with this business and will cancel without refunding This is a concern because the owners know about this problem. It needs to be addressed. Back to the review. Soap, Towel, and tissue should be asked for at the time of arrival. In certain rooms there are showers but no toilet. The others are bed and shelves. Remember the time when your parents sent you off to camp? Yup same set up. There also are no TV's in the rooms that I stayed in but I did see signs about television ‍♀️ *For long term visitors there is wifi available to you. I personally like room 7 its small but *hint lol it's perfect because the breeze from the ocean and the fan above makes the room very cool. Ask for an extra sheet to cover up and ask for a chair to enjoy the patio area outside if your room. Surprisingly the food is not camo food lol it's quite delish and prepared by a woman names ROOTS. The atmosphere in Rising Phoenix is chill. Reggae Music, pool table, two bar areas. One for cocktails and the other for beer, soda, water and hard liquor. There also is a small shop to buy beads, tshirts, pants, tanks. They are all tye dye and sold by MARTIN. I picked up a few items. You can access the beach area by using a very precarious route to the beachfront. Be careful ok? It's lovely but the ocean returns the waste back to the beach. It's best to wade in the water at sunrise to possibly noon. Check it out if you are not fussy and expect 5stars at a 1star budget. Oh and if you are lucky you will catch a live band or a troupe practicing for a show.

I asked for the cheapest room so if course it was basic- you get what you pay for. (140ghs a night, marvellous) I should've brought my mosquito net- the bed was comfy but the pillows weren't, there isn't glass in the windows but there is mesh. (The mozzies must've come through the cracks in the door). The lock was just a wee padlock but I felt safe cos only the guests could get to that part anyway. There's a plug in fan & the view over the sea is amazing (though the amount of rubbish in Ghana breaks my heart). There were 2 shared toilets and bucket shower- it was fine. I don't think even the must expensive room has ac (but prob have their own bathrooms) but it's all good value. I loved the sounds of the waves and the birds singing. There are cats running about too. They also let me in rather late one night (I woke them up, sorry guys) & were nice about it. The food is veggie (and delicious) which was a nice surprise after Ghana's usual meat/fish heavy diet. I had forgotten what mushrooms look like! The place is in a really central handy location. I got taken (by friendly folk) to the art market and to Abajo arts centre and saw a local traditional band- it was really good. I also saw the Kake Dance Ensemble practicing- 65 children dancing, drumming, singing (original songs!) and doing the most fantastic circus acrobatics (over hard concrete! No-one fell!). Look them up & follow them on the socials. They practice at the Rising Phoenix 3 times a week. All in all, it's an exciting, friendly, vibrant place.

Rising Phoenix magic resort lives up to it's name of been magical. Great space, open air everything: kitchen, bar and lounge. If you want to feel Africa and miss with the indigenous people then this is your best bet. Rising Phoenix magic resort conquers the nature approach by providing you with just the bare minimum you need in a room to relax . Mirrors, shelves and washrooms which is simple and relaxing. The sound of the sea always makes you sleep so well as you might think its raining heavily. Resort by the sea face hardship especially in maintenance as the sea corrodes everything metal and blows mists of salt everywhere. But Rising Phoenix has stood its grounds against this corrosive but magically wonderful body of water. Great staff and good food(vegan) . Secured environment and affordable prices from 70cedis.

This place has a lot of potention, however none of it seemed really used. The sanitary is poor, and the rooms were dark. There was no light in the bathroom, neither was there a door, nor a sheet or toilet paper. There's a lot on the menu card, however almost nothing was in stock. The food was too spicy to eat for an European person and they refused to make us something else. Very unfriendly staff in the kitchen. The bar however was quite alright, the bartender was very kind and made very nice cocktails. Also, there is a nice place to sit and chill. Swimming is not possible. The breakfast was alright, but we were glad we only stayed one night. Would NOT recommend to anyone, unless you like smoking weed all day. Deserted place.

For me it's great I have been here 2x since the last booking. Please don't mind the negative reviews. 17 euros or $22 is an indication. Me? I love doing yoga on the beach, good food from Miss Roots from Akuma, reggae at night, coconut and dreams cocktails, the breeze, sound of the ocean and swinging in the tree chair. Again this is a no frills...GO TO THE $550 HOTELS IF YOU DONT APPRECIATE BACKPACKER NOMAD LIFESTYLE. This place is usually booked. I call ahead for a room. Stop expecting MORE than what you paid for.....We paid for peace and ocean calm, walking distance to the city and chill time with conscious rastafari. I will always give a 5 star! At this place everything works together to make a wonderful experience: The stunning location is the biggest asset and they make the most of it. The kitchen is great and must-go for all vegetarians tired of not vegetarian-friendly Ghanaian food. The staff is friendly and helpful. The self-contained rooms are very nice. The rooms with shared bathroom are quite small and good if you just need a place to sleep and spend the day in town or just sitting on top of the cliff in the hotel. The room prices are justified with the spectacular view from the rooms so no wonder you get a room of the same size cheaper in other pars of town, but then no location can match this one!

The romms where to expensive for that, what you have. When we arrived, there where some drunk and unfriendly people at the Hotel. Not the workers from the Hotel, but some Guests. I think it could be a very nice Hotel because of the Location, but we had bad luck at the moment we arrived. So we saw the Rooms etc. but we got to another Hotel because it just wasn't the right Place to stay for us. I think someone different will think good of this Hotel

  • Kweku Mruth

Perched on a cliff by the gulf of Guinea. You have a wonderful view of the ocean, full moon night's a glittering reflection is magical. The resort is Afrocentric in theme more wood, bamboo a famous international meeting place for Rastas, panafricanists. Nayhabingi sessions. Many musicians have passed through before. Many people in Accra do not know of its existence due to its unique location behind High street facade of storeybuildings

  • Thomas Mekuria Gebre

I'm amazed the authorities are letting this hotel run in the condition it is in. There isn't even a bed in the rooms. It is just a mattress on the floor. The bathroom is moldy and falling apart. The owner actively avoids accountability for the state of his hotel. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, but especially not women. The only positive thing I can think of is the view which they have probably no say in.

There is no wifi, no running water, no A/C No nothing. The view is good. That is the only good thing in here, but lots of trashes are in the sea. Also it is too hard to find the location. You have to pass through some dirty places to come. It does not worth the price. Pay little more and go other better place.

I've visited Rising Phoenix twice since my stay in Accra. This place is serene and a great location for a drink and to relax. There is a semi secluded beach that's great for a dip. Would totally recommend Rising Phoenix for a beer and meal. Do not be uncomfortable walking through Akuma village to Rising Phoenix. The villagers are very welcoming.

Exclusive location with amazing views. Some may be afraid as it's off the beating track, but don't fret and enjoy your trip. Management is stellar

Although Bradt guide raccomanded this place made it clear that the place would be a bit run down we were told that the atmosphere would have been amazing. Unlucky this was not the case. Finally we saw an employee of the resort tossing garbage on the beach (plastic and food waste).

  • Innocent Youth

no showa the guy told me 2 wash in a bowl, dirty room, no wifi as advertised, room has damp inside very unhealthy, the guy said i have 2 pay more for a showa wen it waa advertised, dont run a business if u can keep up with basic standarsa would of been cleaner sleeping outside

  • olakunle oladokun

Awesome for back packers, nomad travelers, vegetarians and vegans. Cool reggae vibes every night with the breeze and sound of the Atlantic ocean. You would get the most friendly and down to earth people here (Ruth, Mary and the rastafarians). Definitely going back

  • Ter

I don't like this place. We were here in restaurant, everything was dirty, food wasn't good. The location of accommodation isn't the best. Some black men were disturbing us.

The beach itself was Very dirty trash all over the place broken bottles cans close all over the place the rooms on around the area stock I would not Set anybody there to stay there very rained down here years ago it was a nicer place for the back keeping it up

  • Ewurakua Asah

is it that I'm the only one who realised that that nasty nonsense of a beach resort is trash? full of weed bombers disturbing the fresh air with smoke. NOBODY SHOULD GO THERE. IT'S TOTAL CRAP. no wonder they said they serve only vegetarian dishes. WEED!

  • Kalli Hansen

It’s so unique. Interesting people. Yes it is basic. Cold water, show restaurant. But I still think about it 10 years later! The views...the drumming...the Rastafarians. Great exposure to local Accra.

I love waking up to Mami Wata....the sea cliff is breathtaking. I am hoping to see more beautification and improvement in the rooms and the water supply is always low....I hope to see the area and the beach be cleaned up more.

  • Sangeun Bae

Good food (had one of my best jollof here) but very poor customer service. The waiters attend to you grudgingly with no enthusiasm whatsoever. Worst thing is the poor condition of their toilets. Absolutely disgusting.

  • Alexander Nechanitzky

Probably the cheapest hotel in Accra, you can find online (although the price shown by Google is lower than the real price). Rooms are simple, the sea breeze is mixed with smoking of visitors. Food is good.

  • EfyaKimora

I needed the cheapest accommodation in Accra on my way from Togo base on my budget and this hotel was the only option and also in Osu, because I want to do some activities around the following day.

  • Solomon Appiah

I enjoyed the fresh sea breeze except that the rooms lack the touch of beauty and modernity. Water supply is poor with poor ventilation.

I had a terrible experience here. A group of young men kept pestering me. I was forewarned to be careful at this place but I didn't know things could get that dangerous around here.

  • Olufunmbi Lasebikan

The place is quite bad. The rooms are not neat enough nor decent. They're are even some rooms without private bathrooms, and you won't get to know this while booking online.

  • Caroline Mager

This is a fun place to stay for the view of the beach and the vibe. But the rooms are pretty basic and very hot - but it was pretty cheap. The staff were sometimes friendly.

Nice food. Local and Jollof specific

  • domilese spartan

The rooms sincerely does not justify the price especially the bed. I dunno if the sea is what makes the price go up but not a bad place though. It just looks overpriced.

  • Ifeoluwa Adeoti

Very lovely accommodation. Just by the beach and you can have a sea view from your balcony. I enjoyed my night there and would visit again. Good and pleasant host.

  • Merete Severinsen

The staff is unfriendly and unhelpful. If you are white they will try to change the price to more expensive. But if you love weed this is the place for you

  • Earl H. Aziz

  • Herbert Asakiya

Ver bad experience...rooms are leaking, Sinks toilets are leaking.......Old paiy inside.......They need serious and immediately renovation.

  • Giulia Bondesan

A rasta bar with nice reggae concerts during the weekend. A hideout spot from the busyness of the business district where it is located

  • Omo Int

One star because the sound of ocean breeze is quite relaxing at night. But they definitely have to work on their sanitary conditions

  • Lady Mensah

Listening to the breeze at night while relaxing with friends here has been awesome. I'll definitely visit again when I'm back home.

  • chibuike onwugbufor

Not too wonderful a hotel. It is closer to the Atlantic ocean with waves across the shore. However everywhere stinks

  • Martin Vlášek

Really nice and friendly place, the best place all around Accra city centre. Just relax and enjoy the ocean magic.

  • Roland Joseph Tetteh

Life Expectancy in a line of vision for the understanding of the world is not the same as sleeping in the world.

  • Reuben Zadeh

Don't expect any luxuries such as toilet paper, soap or towels! The place is very centrally located though!

  • henrikwilken

Not recommendable. Room wasn’t cleaned, open wires next to the power outlet, and everything is overpriced.

  • Henry Abraham

Good vegan food wirh wonderful views out to sea. Relaxed atmosphere, including service being a bit slow!

  • Yaw Sah-Somiah

This place is full of unbelievers but willing to accept Jesus Christ. Rastafarian are also around
