"I’ve bought various dishes from this restaurant for many years and I have to say it is not very consistent"
Due to horrible customer service we stopped going there a number of years ago. Between my siblings and I, we used to purchase food for our family about 4- 5 days a week so our orders were pretty big. The employees complained about the length of time it took to prepare our order, but we ignored it cause we knew it was time consuming to prepare, at the same time our orders were always in excess of $70 and typically went over $110 so they should have been happy. What was the last straw for us was we noticed a few times we were overcharged so one day my mom asked for a receipt. The reaction from the person I'm assuming is the owner or manager, was as though we committed a crime. She went off on my mom. So due to the fact that the food was fairly ok, bad customer service, being overcharged on more than one occasion, and finally the lady yelling at my mom, we decided to stop going there about 5 years ago. Last week my husband worked down the block from there and had lunch a few times, and they treated him very well so I decided to give them a try again. I must note, that one of the orders he brought home was macaroni pie, and after taking about 5 bites there was a small bug in it. I almost missed it but upon looking further, I saw it had little tentacles sticking out of it. That should have been warning enough, but I still went back and ordered. We went in and was at first greeted by a really friendly employee, who then started filling my order. She gave good size portions, but then she stepped away and told us another employee would continue filling our order. Before the other employee could start, I'm guessing it was the owner or manager went over and picked up one of the containers, and not realizing it was ours, reprimanded the lady for "filling the container with too much food". I continued ordering and noticed the new lady started filling the containers to less than half the capacity. I didn't say anything because I know she felt badly when she got reprimanded, the 2nd lady was nice as well. My order totaled approximately $120. When I went home and was dishing out for my 6 year old son, I was shocked. Usually a container of food from any other roti shop would be enough for 2 people to get some. One order at this place was not enough to feed a 6 year old!!! And he's a picky eater!! I ordered curried eggs because I wanted it so badly. I was charged $7 and got 1 egg!! The other orders that the second lady packed were not enough for anyone to eat. It was not enough to eat with even a quarter roti!!! They packed the smaller food container to under half, I would said it wasn't even a quarter way full. The food was mediocre at best. I was truly disappointed. I would probably never step foot in that place again. Oh, the serving lady forgot to charge for a $1 item, and since she saw how much my order was, she said she won't charge. The same lady who reprimanded her earlier was passing by when she said it, and told her to go ahead and charge it!!!
So I buy food from here because they sell some stuff that reminds me of home but after today never again will I be eating here. The employees are cool but one of my friend(Guyanese) told me about the experience he had as an employee of this place. Firstly, they have a lot of Undocumented people working there but that is not my problem, my problem is the wages they pay these people, it is $60 a day for 12 hours which is like $5 an hour. They sell the food for a very high price but they pay $5 to a human being in New York? Secondly, they have some documented employees that they pay $10 an hour. Isn't the minimum wage in New York $15? Isn't this illegal and I wonder when will our City officials investigate places or businesses such as this that takes advantage of people. We are a free nation but yet our fellow citizens are being worked like slaves and no one is there to represent them. The owners of these places must be investigated and there are many such businesses in Queens. The only way I can ask for justice is if people stop purchasing food from places like this. STOP SUPPORTING THEM. We should be moving forward not back. Please stop buying food here. 01/14/2022- Competitive pay below the minimum wage? Who is this guy fooling? Competitive pay would start at $15 an hour and increase from there. I see we have a ne Mayor and I hope he start cracking down on pay unfairness and illegalities.
Sorry, I am not a fan of this restaurant anymore. I will not be going back. Today we purchased two small orders of curry and rice. The server asked me twice if I wanted dhal on either dish, and twice I said "no". Guess what they did? Put dhal on both dishes. My next issue is the pricing for these dishes. They each cost on average $11 and majority of the dish was of rice, and very little curry. Why charge so much? Lastly, this place has a restroom but does not allow their customers to use it. After all these years, their restroom is still out of service. Lol, it's okay, they have less than 20 seats so they pass the legal loophole of not having to provide a restroom for their patrons. They could use a bit of improvements. Wishing this restaurant all the best for the future. I hope that this review was helpful.

On 2/15/19.I arrived at 9pm for dinner. The food was cold and I had to heat it up in a small microwave . I informed the waitress. She said sorry. I told her 25 yrs I’m in this country, I’ve never had to heat food in a microwave at a restaurant anywhere in this world. Crazy and unbelievable. A male came out , checking the temperature of the food. Nothing changed. The waitress ask a woman who works there “should I switch on the steamer”. She said “no we are closing at 10’Oclock”. I tried a second plate with lamb. All the food was horrible and very stale. I simply regret this entire experience. The Dinner buffet is $15.00. They still hit me with a $42.83 bill. No class, no care for customers. Great ambience but very very poor food and customer service. If I knew the steamer was off , I surely would have left. This bring shame to West Indian ( Trinidad/ Guyanese flavor). I wouldn’t eat there again, even if it’s free.
I’ve bought various dishes from this restaurant for many years and I have to say it is not very consistent. Some days you get fresh tasty dishes and other days it seems like yesterday’s food is being sold. They do have a variety of West Indian dishes available and their prices are reasonable for the amount. It’s a West Indian fast food place in a sense where customer service and ambiance aren't theirs first criteria as a restaurant, which explains why so many customers complain of poor customer service. The 2nd floor buffet makes a nice addition to the neighborhood and also carries a large selection of dishes. I personally recommend the breakfast buffet because it reminds me of every dish a Caribbean home would prepare each day. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant because you paid for what you get. Just don’t expect to have excellent customer service experience here
Reply to the “Stale Dhal Puri” review: to the owner - Maybe you need to check with your staffs. I’m sure you feel you are not selling stale food, but your staff is and they’re the faces of your business. My dhal puri today, 11/15/2020, was dry dry dry and I brought more than 1, just my luck! (I’m collie, so I know what stale Roti is). Like I said, this wasn’t my first time. Guess I didn’t believe the first time I experienced it, so I gave the dhal puri a 2nd shot & was still disappointed. I’m sure it’s not everyday the staff is packing in some stale food. But the day after Diwali, I was hoping for some fresh dhal puri and that was after 11am today. If I wanted stale, I could’ve brought it and freeze it. There isn’t many “Guyanese” Roti shop in Richmond Hill, so it would help to at least improve the standards, with staffs who takes pride in your food. Respectfully yours.
I went to this restaurant and had very bad service. I ordered chicken liver and they gave them gizzard and heart. No liver. I told the women behind the counter and she said this is how we’ve been serving it for years. If there’s no liver in it why are you saying there’s liver? Do you tell your customers that your food is halal but it has pork products in it? The woman told me that when I got my food at the counter I should’ve checked the curry to make sure there’s liver in it. I told her she’s a fool and walked out. The OWNER came out and asked me if I called her a jackass. I said no I told her she’s a fool expecting me to check the meat at the counter. So he points to me and yells you’re a jackass and walks away. This is the owner of this restaurant and his employees and this is the customer service they give. Disgusting. If I could give this place zero stars I would.
Absolutely trash, not just in their food quality, but mostly because of their service and disgusting treatment of customers. My family had a post funeral lunch here. They charged about 50 dollars a person for food that should be about 5 bucks per person. We got there moments after my grandmother’s burial, and one of the owners, akin to a rabid dog, stood by the door and refused the bereaved food because she said they had not yet been paid; they were already paid 4500 dollars for an assortment of overcooked chicken, dry rice, and ZERO beverages. They left the buffet area empty and we had to keep begging them for a refill. What a trashy establishment and I’m glad I made it out before I ended up making an absolute mess of what is already a dumpster fire.
Worst service ever!!! The cashier’s always have an attitude. The food quality and quantity is not worth the price. Every time I order the prices alway change. The lunch special is supposed to be cheaper but when I ask why is there such little food I was told because it’s lunch special so I’m guessing instead of it being cheaper you get less food. This does not make sense it’s supposed to be cheaper not less food! Make it make sense. If you have to order a roti it doesn’t matter if your online the cashier will look at you see that your on the line waiting and ignore you and than proceeds to cash the customer that was placing order for food. The food is not worth your money!!!

The food here Is a hit or miss, sometimes you get good tasty food and sometimes its really bad. I don't know if they have different cooks or they serve food from the day before. Customer service is horrible, especially when you call over the phone, they are not nice. They have a variety of Guyanese pastries however I must say it is horrible!!! I bought cheese roll, pine tart and black eye cake, omg I had to throw it out. The pine tart was ok, but the black eye cake and cheese roll was very bad. I don't understand why they would sell these things to people. I am only giving them a 2 star because their fried rice on that day tasted good. Never going back here! I am very disappointed!
2 years later I went back service sucked and it wasn't busy very pricy and the chicken foot soup had dry chicken chunks inside ( how does that happen in soup) and no chicken foot . Price upgrade without quality service and food that misses the mark doesn't make sense . people pay for the experience a lot of times over the food if you have neither you should lower your prices . Or train the staff to be friendly My old review Funny this place is a true diamond in the rough . Never busy But the food is always tasty

Customer service is horrible. A friend and I walked in and said good afternoon to two workers, we were ignored. We again said it, ignored again. A worker finally turned around, she rudely asks, “wuh yall gah get?” And we said good afternoon, and she just stared at us. The food was then scarcely put together. I got three pieces of chicken and couple drops of curry and a piece of potato with a full box of rice. The food taste is decent but overall experience was horrible. Drinks in the fridge are all over the place and has no sort of organization or arrangement. This place could use some management intervention.
I was there yesterday around 5pm, to get some food but after what I saw turn me off and I leave. I saw two of the employees who works there (ladies) empty some stale dry up curry (two sets) and then add water to it. I don’t understand why doing stuff like that being bold face to do it in front of customer too So disgusting thing to do when people pay to get some good food. Can the people there be any low to do that? The portion the give is little and very pricey sometimes their food is tasteless and horrible, customer work hard for there money when people there do give a bs.
The service used to be better. The portion sizes used to be appropriate for what they charge. I used to go there at least 3 times per week and each time l would spend a minimum of $60. Per visit. I recently stopped going because: 1. The service is atrocious. 2. The prices have sky rocketted. 3. The portion sizes are half what they used to be. 4. The quality of the food is not what it used to be. If l can give a rating of -0 l would. It's a shame they're loosing business but l don't think they really care at this point but it will when it's too late for them to realize it.
They don't need no star, I brought food there and they charge me $1.00 for a plastic bag and I call the owner and explain to him what happen and he rudely told me don't tell me how to run my business and hang the phone up. Shame on these ppl giving them business and trying to rob u in a smart way.The owner should also put the roti shop telephone number on the receipt and not his cell if he doesn't want to hear his customers concerns .The own need to know how to carry himself in a more business manner

home made guyanese roti curry here, egg bag curry. pachounie and various other curry and dishes.. they don't offer restaurant dining setting where a guest that want to dine will have the bill at the end. that is the only downside for me.. charge has to be over 10 dollar for a credit card.. and while dining if you run out of a bottle water you have to join the line to buy a water and leave your food.. while you loss your appetite to eat.. good food unorganized service for people who chose to dine in..

Cashier has a nasty attitude. You ask her a question and she ignore the life out of you. I’m pretty sure she overcharged me. I brought one eggball and one coconut water. Not knowing how much is for either one I had to swipe my card cause she’s was ignoring all my questions completely. When I got my receipt I saw $10 for TWO things. I asked her for sour she’s like ITS IN THE BAG ALREADY with the craziest attitude I wanted to curse her out. SHE NEEDS TO FIX HER ATTITUDE OR JUST QUIT HER JOB IF SHE DOESNT LIKE IT. will never go there again !
Place has good food, priced well and if you come in between 11am and 3pm you can get a great deal for dishes such as chicken curry, fried rice goat etcetera for $5.99. I tried this place out and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food here. If you are looking to beat lines for a roti shop on a Saturday or Sunday, try coming here and you won't regret it whatsoever. The dal/dahl was actually my favorite. Food wasn't perfect but for the price and taste which even my grandmother acknowledged was "just de right seasonings".
Great food, but I’m still giving them two stars because their customer service sucks. They have the worst customer service. They don’t know how to greet people nor serve food correctly. They are ALWAYS angry, morning and afternoon and they speak to you as if you owe them something. Try to avoid the short fat lady because she’s the worst. Also this place comes with a hefty price tag compared to a lot of other places. The only person that’s very polite is the owners daughter, you’ll be lucky if she’s there to serve!
I was there for my grandma after service dinner - the owner and wife absolutely has no class , was very rude and treated the the guests like pigs. There was no refills and no beverage - the rice was over cooked and burned fried rice with no salt. My sister saw roach running around the establishment. They took advantage of a family who were vulnerable during a time of crisis - what a shame and they called themselves muslim - beware of this place - don’t go , run as far as you from this !

The food is tasty. Service is good. The rest room smells of urine, the sink was filthy, garbage can covered with dust, no air refresher. I was so embarrassed for a business that is doing well, to have such a filthy rest room. One would think the owner would care more about their customers. I gave the rest room a zero. I mentioned it to the sales person, I hope to see improvement in the future. That is extremely poor hygienic for the customers and very disgusting.
I was a bit disappointed. Use to come here back in the days for their bakes. But now it's double the size and super heavy, I was honestly surprised. The saltfish was a bit high in salt. The passion fruit drink was overly. For $66, this should have been better

5 years ago I gave this place 5 stars but now it’s down to 0 if it was possible to do a zero star because of the staffs. An example I recently had was with a chicken cookup the staff was making for me. I watch her doing it then asked where is the chicken and she pointed a piece of it. She then proceeded to dump the food back in pan and went in the back to wash the take out box. Whoever own that place look into it. Make it the 5 stars place again
Doing a tire swap at mavis which is next door from this shop and this is on a Sunday morning around 11:30 am , bought a fry rice fried chicken , fried rice tasted bad almost like it been out to long or old , the fried chicken had good taste but was too dried out and hard probably from staying to long on the heat plate. I would never get anything here on the Sunday anymore, I don’t know how it is thru the week , but definitely not on the Sunday
I spent $20 on the lowmein with sambala shrimp. I ordered on Uber eats. It was horrible. It was very salty. The shrimp smelled and tasted like it was raw. I also ordered dhall and it was salty. I won’t oder from them again especially if I want to keep my blood pressure from hitting the roof.

Trash. My family and I had a gathering last week and the customer service was terrible. The lady running the place has no idea how to treat people and was rude to almost everyone. The bill was very high even though they served a handful of dishes, no service, had paper plates and utensils and kicked us out as fast as they could. Stay away.

Food is good but was very grossed out when myself and two friends observed the owners son using his hands to take food from the buffet as well as behind the kitchen. I understand it’s his fathers business but at the same time you’re dealing with food that is being provided to your customers. Was a regular customer but I refuse to consume food that’s being picked and touched by someone hands.
Customer service ice is very poor at this food location the attendants always rushes to take out the food and don't listen to wat the customer is saying or ordering. The owner of this business needs to sit and a conversation with his staff on on to do customer service. Myself being a 15yrs customer representative from my aspect of this it's very poor. Sry that I had to give this re iew.
The food is not great anymore maybe they have a new chef. The serving sizes are very small for the prices they are charging. Also the soup is very expensive an they give one piece of cow foot in a small serving for $8.00 dollars

Whoever says this restaurants food is good is LYING. Not the place you wanna spend your money on. They are expensive for no reason.. the food is disgusting always has been… dry and tasteless, service is disgustingly poor and they are greedy. Disgrace to the Muslim community. I don’t know why they chose to own a business when they have no type of patience or respect for customers.
Terrible food, came here with my family to try out this new halal buffet spot. Big mistake. All the food was cold and we were told to use the microwave to heat up our food. What? Microwave our food? The food was very bland, no taste, and the desserts were disgusting. It's as if they left the food out for days and just kept reheating food that wasn't consumed. Avoid at all costs.
Had bad experience with the food upstairs buffet.. Not once but twice... Am not trying the third..... Downstairs food is much better. I believe the leftover goes upstairs next day ., and it’s not what I expected.. The place is very cozy and updated amazing ceiling and looks, but remember u can’t eat that.. Not recommended..... eat downstairs or somewhere else..
Customer service very poor, and when finish eating they said bathroom not working. This is ridiculous. Staff was very rude. I don't think these staff are trained here in the US,their attitude sucks. Go to rice bowl better food and service.

So today we got BBQ Chicken & Jerk chicken. The Bbq chicken was red like it has food color on it, and very sweet. The jerk chicken was TASTE--LESS no taste whatsoever. No salt, no seasoning, i dont know what the hell it was it suppose to be nice n spicy, with a real jerk taste, but it had none of that. I'm so damm upset, wadted my hard earned $$$.
The staff is downright rude and have no customer service etiquette whatsoever. And as for the “you have to wear a mask”, that’s you being a sheep being led by a false SUGGESTION. Its not a law. I deal with patients every damn day and still don’t have COVID! I don’t crave that unhealthy Guyanese food often but I just walked out of there. Food is ok there.
Flavorful and good portion size. The chicken Patties are also good. I like that I can walk in and out with my order fast. I wish they would offer a phone order option. It would save me time to place my order via phone and just pick up.

Absolutely worst Customer service I have ever experienced and I got to McDonalds so thats saying something. The actual food is eh, nothing worth talking about but rest assured after experiencing the ladies behind the counter with their lack of manners and general nastiness I will not be returning to this little hole in the wall.
The cashier has a nasty attitude. She acts like you're begging her for something when you're paying for it. I will never go back to this place again because of her attitude. You should never have to feel as though you're begging someone when you are paying your money. If she hates her job she should find one that she likes.
First off I've bought food from here regularly. The food is a hit or miss, taste is not consistent. But this evening was the worse the fried chicken tasted spoilt and shame on me for buying it again. This is not the first time but it will certainly be the last.

Wide variety of meals, dishes and pastries originating from Guyana/ India. However, when you ask for a "large" request of your order, the servers don't give you a large. 60% of the time, you get a complete order but 40% of the time you are shortened.
Significantly high prices for little food & severely poor, rude & unprofessional customer service. They give you less & less food now! It’s very unreasonable. There are tons of other roti shops that give you way more food & affordable prices More

The only thing good from here is the roti and the free parking lot. Everything on the menu is tasteless and cost way too much . I ask the girl with the hat for a baigan choka with roti with her STINK attitude I asked her to give a little
Barely picked up 4 food items and the bill was $75! On the bill 2 sets of hidden charges why am I paying miscellaneous fees? Not worth it won’t go back again. Too expensive for the food that tastes like regular

The curry chicken wasn’t that great . It’s just that it shouldn’t locate near a chicken farm I keep smelling next door in the air. The snacks were okay.

Order baigan choke and the person serving me fill the container and as soon as I turn my head they took like two spoon away from my container I mean like I'm paying for my stuff I'm not asking for free ....fair is fair
I tried West Indian food after a really long time and this place has brought back my love for it. The buffet is just great and there’s a wide variety of food to choose from. I’m definitely coming back for more
If I could give this restaurant a 0 I would, the lady in there is very rude and nasty, the owner is no better he is worse than his employees. They give you 3 shrimps in fried rice for $14 dollars. What a rip off

Can sit in but mostly do take out & delivery. I love the chicken curry best & the spice is just right. Everything I've tried here has been above average. The owner is a real nice welcoming guy!
Customer service would be 0 Guy andwers the phone and says we have everything which they dont. A lady answers and gives a little more info but still no help .i cant seem to find a menu online.
Great experience! The best roti & mutton curry I ever had. Unbeatable prices with great quality/quantity food. Will definitely come here.

I usually buy food here but I've bought consistently for a few weeks, and a few of my stuff is undercooked. Its not healthy at all. I also found hair in some of my trays. Terrible service.
The portions were small and the goat curry wasn't good. It was like very old meat and tasted very bad

Had a family gathering there last week. The Service was horrible. Over priced and the food was limited . The owners wife is very rude and obnoxious. Will not refer this place to anyone.

Very bad food and service. Roti was like rubber and bake was hard as a rock. Food has no taste. What made it worst...staff was rude! Do not waste your money. Go somewhere else.

Really great place to enjoy some roti and curry. Had a good experience. Employees were friendly. Food was delicious.

Portion size are small they are expensive plus I found a long hair in my food and one time I bought macaroni and chicken when I came home it was spoiled slime was in it.
Very bad customer service, the guy barely put food in your container and has to pay so much never again. And I be spending so much all the time there.
Didnt taste the food but not buying food from there if they dont change those baby bowls for 10.00 and up. Small Is suppose to be bigger than that.
The food is okay and the service is also good but not great. I would say it's worth a try once but not sure if I would recommend as a go to place.
Good food, good service, a bit more pricier than other west Indian restaurants but some things are worth it. Wait time can get crazy sometimes.
Very very bad customer service especially the the lady that pack the food …. She look angry

Would never go back there Price Is over the limit for a small chicken cookup curry duck was from like 3 days ago nasty
A really good place if you are looking halal Guyanese and Indian food. Their desserts don't taste as good though
Great selections but a bit pricey. Workers are unfriendly unless you are Guyanese. Food was good but too spicy.
Pretty good authentic west indian food. I found some food to be a little salty though. Not had and priced ok.
