"Got turned around on the way to my hotel and walked in to this amazing place"
Had high expectations given the reputation. Great scene to walk into, classic decor and attire on the staff - was like being transported back in time. But that's about where the magic ended. Unfortunately the bar staff was disinterested in really showing what they could do. When asked to have something unique made with a whiskey base I was given a Manhattan... Service was below average overall. There are places within walking distance with FAR better service, drinks and prices. This is essentially just a well-polished tourist trap, move along. Update: I guess I struck a nerve! Got a response from the owner resulting in a bullet-pointed diatribe about how my review was invalid. If only they put this much effort into improving the quality of their service... As to the owners comments: the bartender at the location I went to greeted me with "Welcome to the Roosevelt Hotel Bar." So if this truly is the wrong location then you guys should take that up with them not me! Good luck.
Not busy for a friday night. Not much atmosphere. There was a great live jazz band outside on the street which got our attention bit thats all the bar had. The bar lady was very rude, told me to wait when there was no one else at the bar looking to be served. She seemed drunk. More interested in gossiping with her friends at the end of the bar. Some people asked when the music would finish and she had a rude (banter) response. Nice bar but service was very bad.
Ok first off let's try to keep this mature and professional. This review was intended for the hotel. Apologies for that. Your response should have been a little more inquisitive rather than accusatory. Suggesting a compromise between parties without seeking more information is defensive instead of asking for details. I am well aware of the quantity of bars in the New Orleans area. Regardless, your response is enough for me to never return to the Roosevelt.
We had a blast at the Roosevelt Bar. This tiny hole in the wall, neighbor bar, has a great vibe and an even better bartender. Bailey made us a wide variety of classic cocktails, each more delicious than the last. She chatted up locals and tourists alike with a positive, fun attitude, keeping smiles on everyone's face the whole night. So glad we stopped in on a whim!

Got turned around on the way to my hotel and walked in to this amazing place. I received such a warm welcome, I felt like I was home instead of lost in a different city. The bartender Elizabeth, was absolutely awesome, from the music to the drinks I never wanted to leave. Not sure why this says closed, but if you're in town you MUST visit this place, you won't regret it. Can't wait to come back!
When you find the Trifecta of place, people, and vibe...you want to keep it to yourself... However, the ladies behind the bar, and the loving yet irascible owner make this gem a must!! But if you are a typical tourist, boring conventionaire, drunk vacationer who expects more than you bring...don't bother...they will eat you alive!!! Easily our favorite!!
This is not the bar inside of the historic Roosevelt Hotel (that is the Sazerac Bar), this is a stand-alone bar next door. Drinks were decent, much better than Bourbon St but not high end. It’s small in the room with the bar, but opens to a larger room with pool tables

What a place! Absolutely amazing service and the menu is amazing. The staff really knows how to take care of their guests and patrons. Everyone, staff and patrons, had a smile on their faces. What's more amazing is that every staff member had a devotion to their craft! It has been too long since I have seen this level of pride in a job.
Every time we come to New Orleans we come here to enjoy our favorite drink, the Ramos Gin Fizz (aka adult milkshake). New Orleans is one of the very few cities that makes them! The atmosphere and historical attributes make it one of a kind. You feel like you're in the Great Gatsby! Service is also top notch.
Extremely overpriced. I paid 16$ for a drink and it was nothing fancy. I felt like I stepped on a land mine. Not surprised that it is always empty. A lot of people reviewing here are adding pictures from the hotel bar! This is a small bar that you enter from the street, not the Sazerac bar.
Our group visited on a monday night, which has their specialty fried chicken dinner. This is an excellent meal, especially with the bisuit, cole slaw, and red bean side dishes. It is worth the price.

I was in town for a Saints game, and was staying around the corner at the Wyndham. Went by both Saturday and Sunday afternoon, and drank a few double Makers Marks, while I sat down outside with a stool and table. Enjoyed a fine cigar while sipping some bourbon. This place ROCKS!
I love New Orleans and the abundance of bars here. The Roosevelt Hotel Bar is by far my favorite haunt. All of the bartenders I have dealt with are fantastic and the atmosphere is very down to earth. Jordan and Liz are by far my favorites. Highly recommend you come too!!
We dropped in here for a quick drink before dinner and really enjoyed the relaxed vibe of the place. Roxanne was behind the bar while we were there and she was very friendly and accomodating to us and all patrons that visited. Will stop in again next time in NOLA!
Low key, but fun. Met quite a few interesting people sitting at the bar. Drinks were mixed well, but I was quite a few into the night.. If your looking for a more low key spot to meet drinks and new people. Give it a shot. I was drinking Old Fashioneds all night.
It's like sleeping in history... it's awsome.. worth every penny... the staff Is so awsome. It's so close to bourbon st... I love it!!!! My friends love it. This was on my bucket list.. now I can check it off. Altho there is a very good chance I'll be back..
Great New Orleans atmosphere. Where sazarac was started so they are the best. Fun and busy but still classy. The ligjts in the hotel are beautiful during the Christmas holiday time and worth the trip. Come...enjoy the atmosphere...relax and know the history!
Stopped in for a couple of drinks, the Ramos Gin Fizz specifically. It was pretty good, shaking it for minutes turns the cream into basically whipped cream which they put on top. Overall the drink was tasty but a little pricey, coming in at 24 dollars
Historically speaking absolutely beautiful but it's hard to appreciate it when you're being ran over by the billions of people spending their time taking selfies. Feel bad for anybody that's actually staying here but man is it beautiful and a must-see
This is a separate entrance than the Roosevelt Hotel! I want to call it a dive bar but it was honestly really clean, and we received excellent service from Roxanne. It was a "chill" environment that I will be returning to.
One of the best small bars in new Orleans. Has pool table, pretty beautiful women, need I say more!!!!! Just go .......stop looking for other bars go!!!!!!! Now!!!! Lol .....jokes aside you'll love it …
Loved the bar. Small but elegant. As a APA pool player, they need to replace most of their pool cues as most were warped and missing tips. Bartender was amazing and very accommodating to all people there.
The Roosevelt is simply lovely. I highly advise visiting at Christmas time when they have all of the beautiful lights on display in the lobby. The smell of Evergreen adds to the charm of the season.
Great place to stop during the holidays for a drink while seeing the Christmas lights in the hotel lobby. Ask Sara about the bullet hole in the wall and ask Matthew to make you a Ramos Gin Fizz.
This place is decorated so beautiful. It’s magical. Went to the bar area and had a couple of drinks. Very clean, friendly service and nice place to unwind after a day in the quarter.
Had to come and try a Sazerac. It was liquor-y I am sure it was really good for a Sazerac. The bar is very classy. Dark wood. Old paintings. Art deco floors. Worth a stop! …
Went to happy our. Small plates were too spicy....meat pies were deep fried mess. Server tried to overcharge by presenting inflated charge slip, a common scam in the Quarter.
This hotel stay was incredible! I was blown away on how helpful and kind everyone was not to mention how nice the hotel is. Must stay here at least a night if not more.
This bar is so cool! It's a great place to stop by after work, have a couple cocktails and unwind from your work day. The bartenders are super nice and very friendly.
Espresso martini and black Manhattan. Very skilled bartenders. Top rate bar that knows how to make drinks. It’s fun to sit at the bar and watch them make the drinks.
They probably have the best bar snacks I have ever had. There is a little three compartment tray that they give you when you order cocktails, which are also amazing.
This is a great chill bar with friendly bartenders and good prices. Most people have this confused with the Sazerac bar in the Roosevelt Hotel but it's next door.
They were amazing and hospitable for the entire week I was here... And they saw me daily. :) Great Hendricks and Cucumber Tonics.... WOW... gotta get those!
This tiny hole in the wall is actually unaffiliated with the hotel, but it's a fun night cap spot. Bailey the bartender was a blast. Go see her!
The 1st Sazerac Bar in New Orleans does not disappoint. It's a great historic spot and place to endulge in the rye beverage native to this area.
more of a real nola bar not so gimmicky. Real folks real good conversations. You go in alone you can have great times. My favorite bar in nola.
Cute little dive bar. Jordan is amazing. Definitely must pop in for a drink or two for a warm welcome, especially if you’re staying nearby.
Very attractive lobby, Christmas decorations very well done and a real treat. Lobby bars were of interest but packed with cheerful tourists
Recommended by friends for the iconic Gin Fizz. I was not disappointed, it was absolutely amazing, and fun to watch being made.
Just beautiful. I have never stayed here but we came to see the Christmas lights. Breath taking. It's just a beautiful Hotel.
Love this historic bar! Definitely worth your time. Low key lounge bar with attentive staff and absolutely delicious drinks.
Great experience. Elizabeth is wonderful.come check her out Thursday, Friday and Saturday.Definitely try the Faubourg
The classiest, fanciest dive bar in New Orleans. It isn't even really a dive bar. Want a Sazerac? They have the best.
Always a great bet in NOLA. Dark and cool, a nice place to have a drink when it's hot outside or late in the evening.
The most beautiful hotel in New Orleans! Christmas was decorated with lights from the front to back of the hallway!
Incredible hotel you have to go during Christmas and try there cookie martini at the lobby bar. Oh it’s amazing
Cool small place with a pool table and some familiar statues. Pretty laid back and cool bartender to talk with.
Great Dive downtown. Not too pricey. Great crowd that's not too pretentious.

Pool table is in decent condition. It is hard to find a place to play pool around the french quarter area
Beautiful lobby. Didnt stay oreat or drink but outside the quarter in business area. I would stay here.
AWESOME HOTEL AND BAR! CHILLAXING ENVIRONMENT WITH A EXCELLENT VIEW ON THE PATIO! NEW ORLEANS FINEST!
How is the power always out at this place? Note: not affiliated with the actual Roosevelt Hotel.
Very knowledgeable and skilled bar tender who made excellent Sazerac and French 75 cocktails.
Bar was near empty which was awesome, got to play some pool and had a few drinks undisturbed.
Won't accomodate arrival for nightcap at 11:50pm because they close at midnight. Zero stars.
Love this bar, it's the best for low key friendly service :) PS - love Bailie and Liz!!!
You have to see Jordan, she’s the best bartender in the city and my new best friend!!
Nice relaxing spot. Had drinks while waiting for the rest of the group to meet us.
The bartender, Elizabeth, was amazing. Is go back just to have girl talk with her!
George runs such a great bar! Best local bar I have been to in New Orleans.
Cool dive bar with nice pool tables, not much else but it gets the job done
Not a locals bar. went in since it was across the street from the orpheum.
Great drinks. Less expensive than the Sazerac Bar inside the Roosevelt.
Another legendary cocktail spot, with can't-miss drink options galore.
Was very beautiful. They really had it looking good for the holidays
Nice place. Friendly staff.

Definitely a chill vibe and strong drinks. Bailey was super nice.
Friendly for locals and visitors. People talk to you. Good value.
Friendlier staff than most other places I've been in New Orleans
Must go destination for a classic cocktail experience in NOLA.
Stopped in to see the architecture, nice place but very busy.
Nice swanky atmosphere...plus met a good looking girl there.
Not the Roosevelt hotel bar, not affiliated with the hotel.
Seriously, they have the best bar tenders in the city!!
Nice relaxing place with good service and great people!
Nice bar. A little pricey. Try the Saverac cocktail.
Fabulous hotel Nola bar. Great food and cocktails.
Drinks were great and so was the customer service
Total dive bar. Empty some nights, packed others.
Brittany great bartender. Fun place. Chill vibe
Hotel is somewhat outdated.... needs renovating
Nice place for the average person will be back
A nice stop on the way to Orpheum or Saenger
It's really a nice place to have a event ..
Dive bar that pretends to be more. Not bad.
Another beautiful New Orleans landmark
Very classy and wonderful night spot!
Bailey is the best bartender in town
Excellent bar and bartender!!
