My name is Celeste Terblanche. I am the Grade 4 teacher at Shelanti Private School. I have been a teacher for 14 years. I started my teaching post at Shelanti at the beginning of 2019. From my very first day, Shelanti created a warm feeling in my heart. This is my happy place!!! I absolutely love teaching here as every day is a day of learning, discovery, exploring and just being yourself within a very welcoming environment. We have small classes and thus we are able to cater for each and every learner's individual needs. There is time in the day to spend with that one learner who wants to tell you about their latest discovery, done on their own, and the joy in their eyes when you can devote honest and true time to them and extend on their learning, is just priceless! My days at Shelanti are days of joy and days filled with valuable, unique learning experiences. Not just for the learners, but also for me. Each day is a treasure box just waiting to be opened! Here at Shelanti we take each young learner's individual talents, traits and potential and then we build on that. Our learners flourish! They leave here at the end of Grade 7, ready for a big world with big challenges, but they have a strong solid foundation built at Shelanti. They are ready for anything!

As parents, we want to be able to give our children the best opportunities to help them reach their potential. They are the future, and they deserve not only to be recognised for who they are but also to be given a chance - despite of and perhaps precisely because they are a challenge for conventional teaching methods. I believe that Shelanti does exactly that by holding open the space they need to grow in both academics and as a whole person. Although we are new to the school our first few weeks has been an enlightening experience for our family. For the longest time we have struggled to gain learning ground so others could “see” the potential we knew existed and at Shelanti I feel that they really get it, they understand it and they know how to nurture it.

Shelanti Private School is not only an inclusive school of learning, but it's a safe home away from home for children. Both my daughters grew into themselves with teachers surrounding them with love & special attention to their individual learning needs. My youngest daughter moved from a bigger school environment where she developed great anxiety whilst at school. Since joining Shelanti we have a different little girl. She is confident, eager to learn & loves being at school. For a parent, this of course if first prize. Being apart of Shelanti is really being part of a family. Good morning, It is with great joy in our hearts as parents of a son with a physical disability that we could say when we found Shelanti Private school we found our son's happy place, the place where he belongs in his school career. He feels loved, cared for, and would also say that there is always someone who assists him , always looking into his needs when he need help and assistance. We are assisted with many things, not even a pandemic could stop the Team from educating there kids..... You are all STARS..... My Son is new to the Shelanti, however, from the first time that I made contact via email, I have been made to feel part of the family! It may sound cliche, but in less than a month, my Son not only 'talks' about school, but has so many positive stories to share! The Teachers are very welcoming and I believe that my Son is enjoying the school so much because he can feel that the Teachers love and believe in what they are doing. Shelanti was an answer to prayer for our family. When we had no answers, Shelanti became the answer. My eldest daughter, now a Grade 11 pupil at CBC is a success story thanks to Shelanti. When she was in Grade 3 we were told the school she was in couldn't teach her. Five years later thanks to Shelanti she mainstreamed and has gone on to do very well. The teachers are dedicated to helping children reach their potential. The small classes offer a nurturing environment. They are passionate about their children. My son has ADHD and has been to 3 different schools before he was 6. Trying to find a school that works with him and understands him kept me up for many nights. We met Shelanti and we were sold that they are perfect for my son. Grade 1 thus far has been so fulfilling and my son is excelling. My son is excited to go to school every single day. A far cry from the dread at previous schools. After hearing so much negative criticism from mainstream schools it was a joy to hear my son is finally doing well. I thank you Shelanti for saving me and my son in more ways that I can mention.

The fantastic teachers and staff are highly skilled in understanding the various problems and initiating interventions that work. They have created a safe and nurturing learning environment that allows your child to grow in confidence, tackle their issues with expert guidance and become well adjusted learners who can then move forward with their education. Our time spent there has been a blessing for us as a family. I can highly recommend Shelanti School to any parent who realises that their child has a learning difficulty - there is no better school.

Our eldest son was struggling to cope in a mainstream government school environment and after 3 years, Shelanti Private School was recommended to us. Within a week of him being there, we could see a marked difference in his work and a positive change in his mood. We have only seen improvement. Our middle child is now at Shelanti as well and we can truly say it's the best school environment we could wish for our children. Classes are very small and the teachers love what they do.

I was extremely impressed with the quality of teaching at Shelanti Private School. All the important aspects of learning are integrated in the school: small classes, whole brain teaching, individualised movement programmes and nutrition with the brain in mind. They focus on each learner's unique talents, aptitude and learning styles and on the process of learning - each achievement is celebrated! They are a solutions-focused school. Well done!

Sometimes as a parent you are not sure if you are making the right decisions, but this one, we have hit out of the park. When our son told me after 3 weeks of being at Shelanti that he loves his school and he never wants to go back to his old school, then your parent heart soars!! A great inclusive school for learners with various academic and emotional needs. The school and teachers make effort to understand the child and their individual needs to create a space where their full potential can be unlocked. A wonderful alternative to mainstream schooling, with a focus on the child in his or her context. I would definitely recommend this school for children with specific learning difficulties.

Since attending Shelanti, my daughter has just grown from strength to strength. She found her voice and Shelanti brings out the best in all children. It is a school where children feel safe and loved and constantly uplifted! We love this school and my daughter is happier than ever! Smaller classes means she gets the individual attention she needs. So blessed to have such an amazing school on our doorstep.

What insight and knowledge I gained from working at Shelanti Private school. I have learnt to listen, to take note, to care, build relationship with and really love children. As soon as you have that, the academics will follow, and they will overcome every barrier they face!!! I love the school, I love the people, and I love being able to express my faith.
