We decided to come for the grand opening after seeing that they were giving away free cupcakes. There was a bit of a line, but it wasn't too bad. I'd assume this was just because it was the grand opening. We got the two free cupcakes--the Tiffany and Cleopatra and then built one of our own. The cake was pretty dry on the free cupcakes, but I'm thinking it might just be because they made a bunch for opening day. They icing and toppings were both good. I really thought our build your own was the best of the three. We did strawberry cake, cookie butter icing, and poptarts, marshmallows, cinnamon toast crunch, fruit pebbles, and raspberry sauce. The cake was less dry on this one, but I still think I've had better cake. The icing and toppings were where they really shined. Overall, I love the concept of build your own, but I've had better cupcakes. If they improved the cake to be more moist, I think they would really stand out. I'd definitely come back to give it another try though. Since it was opening day, I'd be interested to see how it is once they settle in.

Cool place the fact that my friend and I ordered the same thing which was an ice cream sandwich and hers only came with one cookie and a scoop of ice cream. First off the cookie looked NOTHING like how it did on TikTok. They had the good stuff hiding all in the background to where it was too late for me to add. I mean what was advertised was a thick layer of ice cream and after almost a 10 minute ride home it COMPLETELY MELTED! I didn’t know that they warm the cookies up to make them “soft like insomnia” but it did the complete opposite instead it grew hard and stale! Not to mention the chick that served us made several eye contact with us while she was in the back doing whatever until we actually approached the counter even though we were the only ones in there! Overall the cookie was okay and the ice cream would’ve been good, what I have pictured is a ‘strawberry type pop tart cookie’ and mind you this is the next day but as she stated but nah that wasn’t it and I was lit ready to do a TikTok video but eh. Will I be back ? Maybe to get a second thought.

Our family of 4 visited for the first time this weekend. Overall it was a great experience. 1. The shop is super clean and inviting! It's bright with lots of colors and a really cool mural. 2. Staff is very patient and friendly. 3. We did not try the cupcakes and cookies. The sign out front advertised the best milkshakes in Charlotte so we had to give it a try! We tried the birthday and the thin mint. Both were tasty but a bit underwhelming. There's actually nothing negative to say about them, they were just good. 4. There was a bit of a wait but that's to be expected because they prepare everything, including your cupcakes when you order. 5. There is a parking lot out front with plenty of parking and they do have a restroom. 6. Definitely stop by and judge for yourself. My family and I will be returning to try the cookies and cupcakes.

I had the pleasure of enjoying a Cleopatra cupcake yesterday and it was one of, if not THE best cupcake I have ever had. Pretty sure I had a dream about that icing. I was greeted by a very welcoming gentlemen upon arrival (I believe he was the owner) who did a great job of explaining their process to me and answered all of my questions. Not only do they have custom, made to order cupcakes (why compromise? have it your way) they also have an eye-catching assortment of various baked goods to choose from. I wasn't able to try everything I had my eye on so I will definitely be back! The friendliness of the employees paired with the colorfuly designed treats wrapped up in a location whose aesthetic borders between bakery and skate shop creates the perfect experience for all ages. 11/10. I seen this place on Tictok and decided to try it out, you can choose between cookies, cupcakes and milkshake and create your own or buy one that's on the menu, I tried the create your own cupcake, the cupcake by it self is really good it bigger then the regular size cupcake you would make at home, it moist and not too sweet, they have like 6-8 different icing to choose from and you pick the topping you want on it. I like that they don't charge you for each topping you can pick as many as you want and it will be the same price. The icing is really thick so if you don't like a lot of icing you may not like this cupcake, you might have to see if you could get light icing but since they pipe it on, that might not be possible, but I will definitely be going back and trying the milkshakes next time.

Stopped in based upon reviews. No one was waiting when I arrived. I was promptly greeted by friendly employee. I asked a couple of questions and she proceeded to make my 4 pack of cupcakes. While she was making, a DoorDash employee proceeded to jump the line and order a cookie, which meant I had to wait for this accommodation. The correct answer from the employee would have been to acknowledge DoorDash and state if she had additional order, she would have to wait. I stated this to your employee and she said that the DoorDash timer was on and that making them wait would lower the store’s rank/rating. Hmm…I’m not sure how that makes me feel. Probably like I won’t bother to return to this local bakery since I’m outranked by DoorDash…had planned on trying both cupcake and cookie pack but why? SMH

I have been to Swirl on several occasions now and have been overly pleased every time. When first walking in, there is always someone up front to greet you. The staff is always so friendly and helpful! The unique cake flavors of the week keep me coming back to try what's new. They are so flavorful and the cake is very moist! I love to pop in on a Saturday when they have the donuts in shop! Those cake donuts are by far the best I have ever had! My personal favorite is the Strawberry cake donut which I like to get early because they tend to sell out. They have so many sweet treats in the display case to choose from. Mom's Fudge is a must, the Award Winning Cookie is ah-mazing and the Cakey Balls are delicious and worth trying! I just can't say enough about this place!

Swirl fosters the creativity in dessert addicts! There menu has a simplistic list of cupcakes, but frosting and topping options that allow you to create all kinds of fun and exciting combos. The staff was friendly and patient as I pondered my selections. I decided to get some of their smashwiches and a cupcake. I’m officially addicted to those soft pillowy cookie sandwiches. There cupcakes are decent. They are little smaller and have less complex flavors in comparison to some of the other shops in Charlotte. But that is the appeal with the vast frosting and topping options. And they have cookie dough and ice cream. Swirl is definitely worth stopping by and giving them a try. They have something for everyone.

I have to say that the cupcakes I ordered were delicious! I haven't had a cupcake from any other bakery that can compete with SWIRL. My cupcake choices were, lemon toppee with buttercream icing, coconut flakes and raspberry drizzle, double chocolate topped with chocolate butter cream icing, brownies bites, M&Ms, and chocolate chips, the last cupcake was salted caramel topped butter cream icing, white chocolate pretzels and Carmel drizzle. The cupcakes were very moist and the icing was amazing. Very sweet but not too sweet. It was a perfect blend. I will definitely be ordering a dozen next time. The little boxes are very cute, along with their logo stickers.

Sweet lover's fantasy! Cupcakes, cookies, and ice cream all at one location. Where should I start?? I decided to go with the midnight swirl with vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate. Noticeable big pieces of oreo and brownie throughout my ice cream, which made for a tasty filling treat. I love that they were not skimpy with the ingredients. I took a four pack of cookies to go. The seasonal cookie for the month is a salty oreo. You already know that sea salt and oreo combination is a blast waiting for a nice bite. It was The Boom! The store was clean and the staff was nice. Please give yourself time to find parking. Enjoy you a treat or two, maybe three.

Nice spot! It was on the other side of town for me but stop in to celebrate my sister's birthday with a sweet treat! Many cupcake flavors to choose from & you can create your own. Tried the monster ice cream & my 7 year old love it..it was delicious! My sister's went with me & wanted an almond cupcake. It wasn't one of their flavors but it's nice to know that she told us we can put in an order for almond cupcake & they'll make. The really do customize! I had the oreo red velvet, cinnamon toast crunch, birthday, & cookies & cream cupcakes. All delicious & moist. Ate before thinking to take a pic. ‍♀️ I'll be back!

The store was very clean and colorful. The woman who greeted us when we walked in wasn't the most pleasant, but the experience was overall good. I got a Sundae (gold n oreo cookie (warmed) with scoop of vanilla icecream on top & several toppings (brownie pieces, cinn. toast crunch & strawberry syrup drizzle)..it was delicious! We also ordered a chocolate chip cookie that wasn't served warm (not sure if thats an option). Also, they dont currently have any non-dairy icecream options, but everything we ordered was good. I will definitely be back to try the cupcakes & other options.

I went to get a cupcake at this store and the employees were very rude. They laughed at me because I could mot remember the name of the cupcake. After they fixed my cupcake and boxed it up I took out five dollars to pay cash. The employee turned a sign around and said to me we don't take cash. Well that would of been nice to know before hand. I asked her could she make an exception because for one I did not know because you did not tell me. She said no very rudely and I walked out with nothing. This was horrible customer service, and these two should be ashamed of themselves.

I found this place a couple of months ago on my way back from picking my grandson from school, he saw it from the distance and pointed it at me, so we gave this place a try, i went for a millk shake and grandson got what is call half wich ( a cookie topped with fronting and toppings of your choice) it was so tasty, the only one thing i would add that i wish this place have is more options on the size of the shakes, they currently have just one size that i feel is to much fo me. Half of my shake go to waste. Please make a small size an option. Thank you!!

Fountains of sweet flavors in cupcakes, cookies and ice cream swirls!! We loved the Swirl experience with the birthday cake swirl--chunks of cake, vanilla ice cream and rainbow sprinkles!! Yum! Then we each got a cupcake made to order, you can choose from a Menu of icings! I chose salted carmel cupcake with cookie dough icing, chocolate chips and carmel sauce with graham crackers. My kiddo had a vanilla cupcake with buttercream icing and rainbow sprinkles! Fabulous idea! Service was excellent and I signed up for points in their rewards to earn free gifts!

They're super nice and helpful people. Cute and inviting storefront atmosphere. I got a little frustrated trying to find my way there and a guy actually took a baking break and guided me right to the front door and walked out my order and handed it to me I loved the place before I even took my first bite! They're cupcakes are the best we've tasted! My daughter and I are always craving and testing new and creative sweets. These are PERFECT cupcakes! They have so many other delicious looking things to choose from. We can't wait to try them all!

I went in here today. I went for ice cream but they didn’t have ice cream, so I settled for a cupcake. Red velvet, and it looked delicious!!! Got in the car and on the way home wanted a bite because I couldn’t wait until I got home. It was soooo hard I couldn’t even put the plastic fork through it. The icing was delicious but I was more than disappointed with the cupcake and threw it all away. Waste of 4.00. I want to support the East side businesses but y’all have to do better than this.

I love everything about SWIRL! Cookies? Delicious! Cupcakes? Amazing? Just tried the ice cream yesterday and the milkshake made me dance! So yes, the products are great…but so is the staff! I always receive great customer service. I love going into a shop where people make you feel like they WANT to be there and they are happy to see you. I also love how clean the shop feels. If they had the space to add a few tables/chairs it would be perfect, but overall I LOVE this place!

This place is shweet! From the front door to our first bite of confectionery goodness, Swirl gave me an old school feel of my childhood bakery with a very updated and modern twist. At first glance the swirl machine didn't seem like much but after we saw its purpose and might we were in awe. Not sure what they were thinking when they made this place but only greatness comes to mind for me. I am very pleased with the service and more excited about the treats. Until next time!

Swirl has soo many options, my mind was about to explode with all the possible combinations. As the employee behind the counter was going over everything, all I could think of is I'll have to be back so many times to try it all! Ended up going with a vanilla swirl with the walnut/chocolate cookie and Reece's Piece's, and it all blended together so well. I will be back to try the myriad of options and combinations! They also have some cool looking apparel, check it out!

Said it was open online today (4/21) had To drive about 35mins to there for it to be closed and have a note on the door saying they are not opening today till 4 (which is really late). I wish they had that posted at their time on their site or something before I wasted my gas to drive all the way there. Their menu looks good and I would have loved to try it but I’m honestly disappointed at the lack of consistency to be open at business hours posted.

What a cool place to grab a sweet treat! The swirl machine is the only one in North Carolina! I got a swirl (similar to a blizzard) with vanilla ice cream, espresso powder, Oreos, and caramel sauce. YUM! It was kind of melty by the time I got home but I was really able to taste the espresso powder because I was savoring it instead of concentrating on driving. They were out of bananas when I was there so I need to go back to try the Elvis swirl!!

Great location and they always provide fast service! The ice cream treats and the cupcakes are delicious! Update- it's been a few months since I posted my first review of this local favorite. The shrink factor must be at play in this place because I paid full price and received significantly less ice cream and toppings. My scoop of ice cream didn't even make the half way mark. Definitely feeling cheated and disappointed, so I'm removing a star.

This place is absolutely wonderful. The store itself is bright and clean and comfortable, and all the food is incredible. It's all baked in house, and you can tell. The cupcakes are soft and moist, the buttercream is sweet and fluffy, and the cookies are crispy on the edges and squishy in the middle. If you're in Charlotte, give Swirl a try!! I suggest the rainbow sugar or flourless chocolate cookies, I think those are my absolute favorites.

I’m not a huge fan of cupcakes, but I’ve been in with my dad a few times and the red velvet was pretty good. I like that they have several types of icing, and lots of options for toppings. They have a new pumpkin spice flavor, which my dad got today. I got vanilla soft serve ice cream with bits of cookie dough, brownie, and chocolate syrup- yum! I also love the cookie dough balls. Super cute place and the guy who works there is really nice.

Ice cream is Rick, creamy and really great. Can’t get your scoops in anything except cups ( no cones ). Can however get cups with free toppings included in with price. Ice cream offered in two flavors, vanila and a rich chocolate.. negative is that they need benches or anything with shade outside or in where you can eat ice cream cup.

I go for sweet treats to bring to my clients, friends get togethers, birthdays, showers, and just to treat myself! Curtis and team are easy to work with and were recently SUPER generous throwing in some freebies with my last cupcake order for my son's 4th birthday. Thank you, Swirl!

Grand Opening day was so much fun! All the sweets were so yum. Watching the kids eyes light up when it was handed to them with their own creation. Even better was watching the adults be kids at heart by picking past time favorites. The owners and staff are kind which make them our kinda people. Such a great family night out after lunch or dinner or even a date night with my sweetheart. We will definitely be back.

I love a cute cupcake store and since moving to CLT I’ve been missing my favorites! Fortunately I found Swirl! I like the “design your own” concept, but their pre-designed flavors are really cool too! Their packaging is genius-they put the cupcake in its box then add the frosting and toppings. They also have other bakery yummies and ice cream. Definitely a fun and yummy place to add to my treat rotation!

The coworkers were rude to each other. The lady with the glasses and blonde hair and tattoo on her neck was soooo rude to the other coworker it was unreal. She asked for help and started just working on the other order instead of helping her with the larger order the other young lady with brown hair was working on. The entire energy and atmosphere was negative. Cupcake was dry milkeshake was delicious!

The owners of Swirl are wonderful and their cupcakes are amazing. They baked me 100 cupcakes, with a variety of flavors, for a birthday celebration. I highly recommend them! You can even build your own cupcake with toppings that you like! I love the concept, the taste of their cupcakes, and the people who work there. You can tell there is a lot of heart behind what they do. Can’t wait go back for more!

This review is overdue. I had a sweet tooth and stopped by on Saturday, 12-24-22. Treated myself to an egg nog shake, a ginger cookie, and a cupcake (I can't remember the flavor). It was my splurge after shopping. I haven't been since; they'll probably be seeing me soon.

I honestly am not a cupcake person and only went because my girlfriend wanted to go and she loves sweets. I originally didn’t even plan to get one until I saw the display and all the options so I went with the salted Carmel. The best cupcake I have ever had by far. The cake is why I don’t like cupcakes but this was very different and a must have for anyone near by. Words just can’t do it justice.

Okay y’all, leaving my second review here. Because this place really is THAT GOOD. The owner made my cookie-wiches tonight and was THE most patient. Bonus cool points for the silliness. 10/10 recommend for the best sugar fix in Charlotte. Ps thank you, thank you, thank you for accommodating my obnoxious requests while I anxiously grasped at straws on what my date might like. Y’all the real mvps.

Swirl had so many delicious treats, it was hard to choose! I got an Oreo smashwich and my friend got a customized Red velvet cupcake, subbing the Oreo topping for raspberry syrup! So much freedom to customize here. You can build your own cupcake too. They also had flavors of unbaked cookie dough to choose from. Talked to the owner who was ringing us up and he is so friendly!! We'll be back.

Got 4 cookies (flourless chocolate, some kind of sugar cookie with Oreos in it, chocolate chip, and snickerdoodle) and 4 cupcakes (two chocolate, one red velvet, and one cinnamon).....HOLY SHITAKE!!! All the things were DELICIOUS . Can't wait to try the ice cream next time (that is what everyone was queued up for, causing a bit of a wait).

Ok - take this feedback the right way. The cupcakes were pretty good, very moist and delicious. However, the cookies were literally the best cookies I have ever eaten. I have not had a better cookie than the Reese’s cookie from Swirl. I will be back. I would have posted a photo of the cookie but I ate two of them before I could post…

First timer here. I ordered four cupcakes with butter cream or sour cream icing and the cakes were all moist and fresh (the icing wasn’t hard). The oatmeal raisin cookie was soft and delectable. The iced lemon doughnut with blueberries was my favorite. The key lime pastry was tasty as well. This is the best cupcake place in CLT yet.

Some of the best cupcakes can be found here. I am obsessed with their red velvet with Oreo cream cheese icing. If it wasn't so far from me I'd be there more often. They have a large variety to choose from and you can also build your own. Love their rewards system and how quick it is to stop in for a sweet treat. I'll be back!

My family and I go to Swirl at least once a week! We live within a few minutes of driving distance and we like the convenience of having a sweet treat spot so close by. We been going there throughout the summer and just recently signed up for the loyalty program because we know we’re going to rack up points as often as we go!

Swirl is awesome! On short notice they were able to help me get 120 treats (mix of cupcakes and cookies) for a corporate event, and have them delivered when I needed. In fact they were 30 min early! They went above and beyond in customer service and MOST importantly, the treats were incredible!!! Cannot thank you enough!

Staff is always polite, smiling, and happy to fulfill your requests. I’ve never had a bad visit. Cupcakes are wonderful and decorated exactly as you want right in front of you. I love their cookie butter frosting!! I really can’t say enough good things about Swirl! I always pop in when I’m in the area! Highly recommend!

I don’t love cupcakes/cakes, so I wouldn’t think to come here. However, I was gifted with a cookie, cookie sandwich, and two cookie dough balls from here for my birthday and they were absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend trying Swirl for a variety of different treats and I plan on going back to try the ice cream!

The staff here work around the clock to put their heart and soul into the most delicious cupcakes in Charlotte. With many creative flavors, amazing gluten free options, macaroons, cookies, etc., there is something for everyone! My personal fave is their Unicorn Oreos - try them out ASAP, Swirl is not to miss!

I picked up treats to make a dessert charcuterie board and everybody loved it! They even have gluten free cupcakes and other delicious things!

Such a cute place! Cupcakes reasonably priced at $4 including your make your own. I did a vanilla cupcake with buttercream icing ,white chocolate and raspberry swirls. Coolest place EVER! For all the cereal lovers, it's a dream! Get any cereal turned into your favorite shake! They sell other items as well, such as cupcakes and brownie/ice cream. My favorite part is watching them actually MAKE the shakes on that super cool self-rinsing machine! It's so neat!

Ordered four custom cupcakes & one specialty cupcake. Kids enjoyed creating their cupcakes by choosing cake flavor, frosting, drizzle & four toppings from an extensive list of toppings. Cake was moist, toppings were fresh and buttercream frosting was a great consistency just a little sweet.

So many combinations of toppings cookies and floats and shakes and… it’s all amazing. I could live here. Pro tip the owner built some tables around the corner to the right when you leave. You are definitely going to need to sit down if you’re using both hands for a sandwich!

Me and my sister wanted something sweet so we found swirl on DoorDash and ordered 12 cupcakes and I didn’t read the reviews and I’m soooo happy they were delicious not too sweet just right if you come to Charlotte or live in Charlotte go to swirl and get your a great cupcake

I think it is incredible that there is a dessert spot in Charlotte where I can create ANY treat I can dream up ANY time I walk through the front door! I also appreciate that if my creativity is lacking, Swirl has an extensive menu of delights that are all showstoppers!

Got Doordash delivery for a coworker's birthday and they reported back as delicious so I had to try it. OMG so good!! Everything I have had there is wonderful but the ice cream cookie sandwiches are the most amazing!! Customer service has always been outstanding too!

1st time here and we love it! Since the icing was piped after ordering, it was so fresh! The Icecream is great too. Not sweet at all so it compliments the sweet toppings available:) much better than most places I’ve visited.

I have been getting cupcakes and cakes from Ella and Curtis before it was Swirl. Ella made my wedding cake and a cookie tower for my husband. Treats are always so yummy! The birthday shake is typically my “go to.”

My taste buds didn't know what to do with themselves. So tasty and the way they make their items I've never seen before, and I've seen some ice cream. Lastly, some of the best customer service I've ever witnessed.

Went with group of friends on a weekend. Everything treated great except the brownie cookie, tasted kinda burnt (I'd assume it was just a batch and we got that). Else case, it's a quick in and out place.

Out of five people sampling cupcakes and cookies they were just okay or not good. The icing on all was way too sweet. The red velvet did not taste like red velvet and the key lime cookie had zero flavor

This place was awesome! The cupcakes were massive. One of them was two servings for me. The service was fast and friendly. The cashier even offered us two cupcakes at no additional charge.

The cupcake was delicious but the staff working that day was very distant and rude, I don’t know if he was having a bad day or because he was from California but I almost walked out.

Love the cookies here, especially when they are right out of the oven. My kids love being able to create their own cupcakes. We come about once a month and Swirl never disappoints.

Just had a box of vanilla with cream cheese and sprinkles dropped off at my work. I’m not sure what flavor they call it, but I’ll call it “Best cupcake I ever put in my mouth. “

Hands down my favorite dessert place in all of Charlotte. The milkshakes are the best and if your sweet tooth is aching bad, go for the squish. Please go if you haven't already.

The Cleopatra Cupcake is "slap yo mamma" good!! The flavors and textures marry so well together. I wish I had a picture to post, but I inhaled and the cupcake was gone.

Great shop! Delicious cookies and special swirl ice cream. A real family treat. I love to take the cookies as gifts too. Everyone loves the rainbow sprinkle cookie.

Not recommended for diabetics. If you don't have diabetes you will walk out of the store with it! Very sweet to the tooth stuff. Oreo cookies are the best.
