So I'm a regular contributor to Google reviews I'm a local guide. I do my best to be honest and fair about my reviews and to give the benefit of the doubt when necessary. In this case I needed my air conditioning evaporator coil changed which is a pricey repair over $2,000 at the dealership. So when the price came back at $1,700 I thought that was fair I figured there would be other charges that weren't included but it would have been negligible. I repeatedly asked about the supplier and the product I would be receiving in my van before I drop my vehicle off. I know enough about vehicles and how to fix it to be dangerous. I know that sometimes parts can get confused or can be delayed for reasons that we couldn't have possibly expected. For this reason I wanted to bring my vehicle in after the parts had arrived but the salesman assured me that the parts would be on time and they would be quality so I agreed to bring the car in early so they could work on breaking down the dashboard before the part arrived. I proceeded to bring my van in the night before and I picked up my rental van that I ordered on my own because I needed it for work this is my work van which I also explained to the salesperson. The next day came and as I was working I started to notice it was 12:30 1:00 and I hadn't heard anything about my van. Funny thing is I got a call almost exactly at that time from Mike. He told me that he needed some information about my van. I thought that was weird because I gave him all the information the day before but I played along. He asked me what exactly had been done to diagnose the problem previously which I already explained to him I took it to the dealership and they told me that they put blue dye in the system and it was leaking from the drain below the evaporator. This is a really good sign that the evaporator is leaking. So he thanked me and said that he would pass that information on to the technician who would be working on the vehicle. Which I thought was odd because he should have already been breaking the vehicle dashboard down per our previous conversations the day before. I let it go thinking well maybe we'll get it done pretty quickly and I can still have it that day as they thought they might be able to do. 20 minutes later it called me back and says hey there's a problem with the supplier they didn't send a part and it's going to cost a lot more than it would before, actually $2,900 total instead of $1700. This was several hundred dollars more than the dealership was saying it would cost. I'm sure it's certainly no surprise I told them I was disappointed and that I would be picking up my vehicle. During that conversation I was made to feel that they were defending themselves. Not giving a truly sympathetic apology for their lack of thoroughness in the investigation and process of ordering the part and making sure they ordered the correct part they needed to do the job. Perhaps if they took a little more time in the beginning to make sure they had the correct part I wouldn't be out the $100 I paid to have a rental van. I think sometimes auto repair shops think they are so good that they don't take the time to do the correct steps to ensure a fast and accurate repair. And when they do make a mistake they need to pretty much stick their tail between the legs and ask for forgiveness because you don't know what I had to go through to make sure I had a van to work in that day. There's a shortage of vehicles available through rental services for cargo vans right now because FedEx and all the other delivery services renting them all. A little more sympathy could have gone a long way. Needless to say I probably won't be back and I'll be sure to tell everyone I can about my story. Despite all the positive stories I've read this was not one of them. That's why I gave you two stars instead of one cuz I know you can do better.

On November 5th, 1997 I bought my first brand new vehicle, a Toyota Camry that had 4 miles on the odometer the first time I shifted it into DRIVE. Quite a momentous occasion that paled in comparison to November 9th, the day I met the Love of My Life. Somehow, I managed to avoid looking like a weirdo stalker and was interesting enough to warrant a “yes” when I asked her out on a date. This car witnessed all of our dates, our wedding, jobs and schools along with the minutiae (both G-rated and R-rated). I trusted the staff at Sallas Auto Repair to evaluate this very sentimental car and tell me honestly the costs involved with keeping her or letting her go. They kept their end of the bargain. I got a thorough estimate of what it would cost to fix her up and some helpful words of encouragement from Nick as I decided the fate of this car that was almost a member of the family. I could not be happier with their professionalism and the fact that they actually LISTENED to me and what I needed from them. I’m appreciated their honesty and integrity as they inspected my car and formulated a list of repairs and their priority. I know my car pretty well and it is as apparent early on that the staff here would not be trying to shine me on about repairs that were not needed nor trying to move me out of the way because I wasn’t going to be a high paying repair customer. They will be my GO TO repair shop for any and all future auto repair needs. It is a blessing to have a trusted repair facility in your neighborhood.

Because of the convenient location my husband and I have each taken our cars there a few times, but NO MORE! Every single time we took our cars in, even if just for an oil change, they would call us with a laundry list of very expensive repairs that "need" to be done to our cars. That was exhausting and annoying, I never gave into their sales pitch though. What really sealed the deal was catching them in a straight up lie. They had told me during an inspection the timing belt on our SUV needed to be changed. I told them good to know, but my husband would do it himself. Which he did, the next time I had taken the SUV in for an oil change, the man at the desk told me I needed that "same" timing belt changed still. Since I know for a fact my husband has "just" changed the belt... this was a lie. I looked that guy straight in the face and asked him if he had personally laid eyes on that timing belt and was positive it needed to be placed. I gave him a chance to get out of it... he assured me it definitely needed to be replaced. He must have thought I was a complete idiot. When I told him he was straight up lying and my husband had just replaced it, he looked like a deer in the headlights for sure! Oh and they didn't apologize for lying either. It's hard finding an honest mechanic...Sallas is DEFINITELY NOT IT!

Not sure why I'm just now writing the review but whatever. My engine was making a knocking sound and I was planning on going across country. I took it to Sallas Auto Repair. I let the person know what the problem was and that I was planning to drive across country. I asked their opinion on if they thought my car would make it due to the knocking sound. They said no. I left my car in their hands. I was suggested more than once service to fix the sound. After racking up about 800 in "repairs", the sound was still there. The mechanic tried to convince me that the sound was slightly not as loud....what a joke. He then said that I would need to have the engine replaced. I would have thought that a mechanic would have been able to figure that out from the sound on the initial visit. IT CAN'T BE FIXED AND THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED. They then offered engine replacement for a couple thousand. I took it to FIRESTONE and they were able to tell me the engine needed to be replaced immediately, without doing all these "repairs" that cost me a ton of money and did not fix my problem. I'm actually convinced they didn't do anything to the car at all and just charged me. I will NEVER go here again. NEVER

Sallas Auto Repair, I would like to address your poor customer service and lack of accountability regarding basic service for my car. On Wednesday, August 25, I went to your shop to set an appointment for oil change and diagnostic. According to your employee, the appointment was set for Friday, August 27. I arrived at the scheduled time but someone in the counter told me that my appointment was for Monday, August 30, not for Friday. We waited for the employee who set the appointment for me and, after acknowledging his mistake and apologizing, we agreed I would take my car with you on Monday. So I left my car at Sallas Auto Repair on Monday at 8:00 am By 3:30 pm, I wondered why you had not called me to pick up my car. Having to work in the evening, I headed to your shop on an Uber ride, only to find out you had not worked on my car. Your employee only asked me if I wanted to reschedule my appointment. Of course, I didn't. In summary, because of poor follow up on the part of your employees, I wasted valuable time, money on Uber rides, and did not get the service you agreed to provide. They have a friendly receptionist who seems to enjoy her job and the people are professional when fixing the cars. Great free services such as a shuttle service and a vehicle drop off even. The problem is that they weren't the best when it came to remembering to do small convienent things such as sending out an e-mail copy of the repairs being done in an itemized way showing specific repairs and costs. My husband tried to ask them to send the itemized bill estimate to his e-mail twice actually and they never did. They sent a text message on his phone that didn't have it all broken down like we asked either. So, they are fantastic car mechanics but maybe remembering to do little things could be improved. My husband and I will still go back definitely but maybe writing down notes to do things like that for a customer to help be reminded to follow through during busy times would help a lot. Great work on our car!!! Thanks so much!!! Go here for good prices and excellent service on your car that eliminates so much stress with their free services.

I told them it was leaking oil, smoking out the back and it would hardly go over 20mph. It was in the shop for multiple days. They ran a bunch of expensive test with inconclusive results. They told me they needed to replace my valve cover gaskets, spark plug tube seal set, spark plugs, ignition coils and a fuse. Charged me $2120! They wanted me to pay $456 just to test my catalytic converter and I said absolutely not!! When I got my car back it still smoked out the back and the oil light was still on! If it was brought in for leaking/burning oil you would assume they would top it off before returning it! Wish I would of realized the name working on my car was "Crook"ham. Stay away from this place! If I would of know the persons name had crook in it I wouldn't have allowed the work to be done. ‍♀️ Thanks alot! I ended up taking it to KC Muffler and they charged me nothing to test my catalytic converter!!! Only $462 to replace it and showed me why it needed replacing! Wish I would have brought it to KC Muffler sooner!

Being new to the state I had to get a safety inspection done as a requirement to register my truck. Sallas Auto Repair is AAA approved and close to where I now live. When the inspection was over, Chase came and explained everything to us and even showed us pictures and videos of the things that were wrong and needed to be fixed. He also sent the link to me! He quoted us a price and allowed us time to think about it. He wasn’t pushy and I appreciate that. A few days later we dropped the truck off to get the things fixed, they provided us with a ride back home. A few hours later Chase called and told me that it was ready and they could have one of their drivers come to pick us up to bring us back to the shop. Sallas Auto Repair has a new loyal customer thanks to their great customer service, professionalism and being personable and understanding. We work graveyard shift and he asked if a text message would be better than a call. That showed that they listen and care about their customers. That is hard to find!

After having my car die at a drive-thru and needing it to be towed to Sallas, I was very grateful for the gentlemen working out front. They took the time to write down what was going on with the vehicle. They ran a digital inspection on my vehicle and found that the alternator was the problem. With the digital inspection I got a text link detailing all the good and negative things they found with my car. It was definitely worth the cost of the inspection for that. I decided not to have Sallas change my alternator (as my father could do it for me) but I am very likely returning to have them fix my oil leak. Even when I explained that I wouldn't be repairing the car with Sallas, the men were NOT pushy rather they were kind, understanding and continued to be helpful with towing my car away from the shop. Price-wise I am not certain how they rank as I don't often go to car repair centers but I was incredibly appreciative of their professionalism and the work they did do.

Called them up and told them my car was running rough and making a ticking sound. The guy on the phone asked if my check engine light was on. It was. Dropped it off in the morning. I called and told them if the problem was $500 or under then to go ahead and fix it. No need to call and confirm. Well, the cost was $400 and my car is still running rough and is still making a ticking sound. I paid over the phone when he called amd said it was done. They did replace the purge valve and that did fix the engine light. I was more worried about it running rough and breaking down. It sounded like a lifter to me. He said they would have to look at it and put a stethoscope on the valve covers to find out where it was. I thought I just took it to you guys due to running rough and making a ticking sound. They did have a quick turnaround and the people i spoke with were nice. Thats why they get 2 stars

Absolutely Fantastic! Will highly recommend and continue to take my vehicles to Sallas for service and repair! Paul gave me updates every step of the inspection and repair process. The online inspection they share has pictures of the issues they find and allowed me to approve instantly of the repairs I wanted done now while keeping a record of items that will need service/repair in the future. ZERO pressure to do repairs/service I was unable to complete this trip or didn't feel I needed! Paul and the Service Tech answered my questions by walking me around my truck and showing me the issues along with their thoughts and recommendations. The whole experience was stress free and pleasant! From the young lady I spoke with on the phone, to the Service Techs and the Service Reps, everyone was very polite and smiling. Thank you Sallas! Best repair experience I can remember having!

I sent the car to Sallas because the engine was blown. I wanted to know what caused it. When I called I told them this specifically and they said they could do this. When I got the call they said the engine is locked up and that’s all they had. I got charged $61.00 to be told what I told them was wrong with the car. Class said that they would be able to tell me why it blew up. So not sure if there was some miss communication or what. I feel I was VERY clear about what I was wanting. The reason I am giving them a three is because they have been nice enough to let the car sit there while we can get it towed since my girlfriend broke her foot. We have been slow to get it done. Otherwise it would be a one. I had high hopes for them as far as the mechanics part. Nice people though. Mary did have problems at one point getting a call back. I never did as I always got a call back.

Ive been going to Good Year for years and I ran into a window issue and couldn't get in and I was just tired of the unprofessional demeanor of the staff. I googled "Auto Repair " near me and Sallas popped up with a high Google review. I gave them a call and Zach was extremely professional, pleasant and able to get me in the next day. Although I didn't anticipate spending so much I didn't mind because it felt they had my best interest in mind and kept in communication with me during the day. They even made sure I would be able to pick up my vehicle after hours. I have honestly never experienced service like this even at a dealership. I was truly satisfied with how my car ran and looked after picking it up and I will not be going to anyone BUT Sallas going forward. God bless this place and I'm thankful for the excellent work and service.

5 stars. My vehicle broke down while I was visiting KCMO (over heated). I made it to a friend's house and replaced the thermostat myself, but that didn't stop the over heating. I had to get out of town to get back to work, so I called and set up a tow to get the vehicle to Sallas. Sallas did a great job of getting the car right in, they communicated well throughout the process, and they were extremely detailed. Best of all, the issue was a simple airpocket and a burp of the coolant system fixed it. They didn't try to over charge, no pressure. And the complementary inspection was extremely detailed. If I lived in KC, this would be my mechanic. Nothing worse than having a car breakdown out of town and having to try to orchestrate service from hours away. Sallad made it stress free.

Customer since 2004. Moved to different city 9 yrs ago. I could go cheaper and closer, but still return for auto maintenance and repair. Why? Adherence to make/model guidelines. AAA sanctioned. Service recommendations and maintenance education. Summary: Top notch service! ...and pretty good coffee, too. UPDATE April 2022: Replaced battery purchased from Sallas Jan. 2020 which Sallas charged $100 to install. Charged $150 to remove the current bad battery and install the brand new battery. I questioned this and was told charged for difficultly of removing &/or installing. 3 yr Battery purchased from AAA Dec. 2016 took 10-15 min. tops to remove bad & replace w/good battery, which lasted the term +1 month. AAA didn't charge any fee for battery removal & installation.

They were very helpful. They were very friendly. The facility is clean and nice. They go out their way to make sure you are comfortable about your repair. They did a very good job on my car and gave me a 24-month 24,000 mile warranty. Against parts and labor. In writing once you on the receipt. Showing that they stand behind their work. Just like they say. The engine light is off and my Chevy Cobalt is running good. The company told me that if the lights would come back on anytime within the next two years don't worry they will fix it and no cost. I am so happy! if my vehicle's shouldn't need any repairs Sallas Auto Repair is the place I will take my vehicles.

WOW was totally amazed at the huge royal treatment that was rolled out to all of us attending the Sallas Car clinic this morning! There was a depth of well communicated knowledge imparted to us, plus a breakfast of fresh fruit and pastries. Then the prizes at the end were extremely plentiful and generous! All that said, you know when you take your car there, that you will hear straight up information, and that they aim to give you the best deal with the highest quality available. Just a note. At Sallas they will give you a list of what is needed to be done to your car. It's up to you to do it or not. Sometimes there is an oversight that they do not get in that something has been done already. That's life. Just realize these are good-hearted guys and they don't want to take you for a ride. Pun intended. I was just wondering why the weren't 5.0 and saw some comment that seem to come from those who are less than trusting put one star. I've been there too, so I understand. But these guys really are good-hearted people. Thanks for all your hard work, Sallas!

My truck needed a good wheel alignment. Google revealed that Sally's Auto Repair was a good shop to perform the task. They have a strong gated parked lot for your vehicle to rest over night and be protected. Inside the office they have a mini fridge with complimentary water bottles to drink, if you chose to wait. My silverado is a older model and was shocked to see how well it was aligned. Night and day difference between the way it handles currently vs the way it handled before I broght it in. Highly recommend Sally's Auto Repair, if your wanting an older chevy aligned.

In my experience repairs of my vehicle I only like to deal with one person but I found out that this company is one person they work together. They make you feel safe and content they take away the nervousness and doubt they guarantee honesty they are like family. Nick And Bary Were Great To Work With. They Explained Their Diagnosis, Repair Plan And Kept Me Notified When The Repair Would Be Completed. They Are Honest With Their Repair Plan, Fair With Pricing And Helped With A Loaner Car. The Pickup And Drop Off Of Our Vehicle Was A Great Feature As We Did Not Need To Change Our Work/Life Schedule Nor Did We Have To Wait In The Shop. I Plan To Bring My Other Vehicles In For Service Too. They Detail Cars Too And Did A Deep Cleaning And Detail In My Wife's Car, Looks Great! Thank You Sallas Auto Repair!

Sallas has went above and beyond to exceeded my expectation when it comes to their services. They made the repair process super easy and convenient by coming out to my work place to pick up my vehicle and repair it and return it before I had gotten off work. I had a part on my vehicle repaired and it ended up being faulty not once but twice . Each time, they replaced the part at no cost. I highly recommend taking your vehicle to them. They will make sure you and your vehicle are taken care of each and every time!

I'm from out of state but found a vehicle in Kansas City that was worth traveling for. I contacted Sallas to have a pre-purchase inspection done and they were very reasonable with price, and it was a thorough inspection. They found numerous things with the vehicle that in turn made me not purchase it. They also sent me plenty of pictures, and their service manager Barry spent half an hour on the phone with me while he was looking at the car answering my questions. A+++, great job guys.

While buying a used F-150 long distance, I went online to find an auto repair company to do a pre-purchase inspection. I found Sallas Auto Repair and chose them for their great reviews. They made all the arrangements to get the vehicle to them and did the 101 point inspection. I went ahead with the purchase having the knowledge of the condition of truck. They did the inspection on a days notice sending me the results along with a ton of photos. Thank you Mike for the great service!

I've been taking my cars to Sallas Auto for a little over two years now. I've got nothing but good things to say about the employee's and the service. The work they've preformed for me has ranged from oil changes, to tire repair, to diagnosing issues I described over the phone, to full inspections. One thing I really appreciate is the transparency of the inspections. They'll take pictures and give you a full online report of all the issues minor and major when doing an inspection.

Had a bad experience, they took my vehicle in the morning and didn't even look at it until 4:30 in the day. After finally looking at it, they wanted to charge me obscene prices for a muffler replacement. After taking it to a muffler shop nearby, the price was less than half of what they wanted to charge me. Even though they did no work and just looked at my car, I still was charged 60 dollars for wasting my time. Will not be going back to them and do not recommend them.

I came into Sallas with several issues and not knowing what the root of the problem was concerning my vehicle. They did a thorough inspection and advised me of the exact issues. While I couldn't get everything repaired due to finances we worked together to fix the most important suggestions and what I could afford at the time. They were able to fix it that day and even worked past closing to get me my car back, excellent customer service. I would highly recommend them.

The best part about Sallas Auto is their communication. From the text to the personal phone calls, they will walk you through the process. When they find something, they help you understand the issue and give you recommendations. Unlike many repair shops, they will not do any work until you give the ok and not before you understand exactly what the issue is. I needed a safety inspection for my car. I was told the car looked good but did not make it clear that car failed inspection. In my hurry to get to DMV I did not notice the inspection failure until I had been in line for an hour.
