i will never in my life return to this salon ever again. i asked for blonde and black. black underneath and for black to be underneath. this seemed to confuse charles for whatever reason. i do not believe he knows at all what he is doing with his so called career. you really need to rethink that and reconsider. he only did one strand of hair black and you can’t even tell it’s there unless you searched for it. i specifically asked for all of my hair to be blonde, instead he did highlights. which i’m honestly glad didn’t occur because he did such a horrible job with every process. he kept asking if i was okay which made me feel like he knows he isn’t good at his job. i even showed him a picture of what i wanted and even that seemed to confuse him too. he used a toner on my hair which didn’t even do any good at all it didn’t do any help to make the blonde go a little bit darker. my hair turned out terrible to be honest because there’s a huge spot in the middle of my hair in the front where you can obviously tell charles messed up as stated previously he doesn’t know what he is doing with other peoples hair in fact. the part of my hair i’m talking about is literally white it’s all different tones of blonde and i wanted like a golden blonde and he literally thought i was speaking of the color gold which i was not! golden blonde and gold are totally the opposite. and in one specific spot if you look close enough it is orange. not enough for other people to notice but i can and i care and it looks bad. i didn’t ask for orange hair. he used box dye and if i would’ve known that then i would’ve just done this myself. he is not a professional do not go to this salon. when he bleached my hair he didn’t section it correctly. i’m not hair stylist or professional at this but i know for a fact he wasn’t doing it right. you don’t bleach someone’s hair and then put it over their face like he put all of my bleached hair in front of my forehead covering my eyes. he charged me 240 for all of this and i would love my money back but i know that’s probably never going to happen. the only good thing i think that came out of this was that i got a free coffee from him.

It has been a few weeks and I am still very upset with how my hair looked when I left. I looked like James Brown in his mug shot. The person Charles who did my hair tried to say it looked good. It was a hot mess. He was pleasant but that did not negate from my hair looking worse that when I came in. He then charged me an extra 10 dollars. Charles gave me a price and he did not adhere to it. He knew that I was upset with how he made my hair look. Why would he charge an additional 10 dollars on top of the price he guaranteed ? I felt taken advantage of. He also asked last minute for cash, and he had the nerve to ask if I wanted to tip. I would have felt comfortable if we just called it even and I did not pay. That's how horrid my hair looked. I immediately went to another salon and had it fixed. He had me looking like Money Mike on Friday After Next when Damon was chasing him around the hood. PS he also asked if I wanted my ends cut because my hair looked damaged. The only damage is his work. My hair is healthy and long. I did not want to write this but being that it has been weeks and I'm still upset I must warn the people. I am Truly flabbergasted expecially with the price increase and the tip question after he was aware I hated my hair. I should not have paid but should of ,could of ,would of ,but NEVER AGAIN. I really think he should be ashamed. I He knows that transaction did not follow business ethics. Unethical/unacceptable. Oh he then asked me for cash last minute. Again flabbergasted !

The stylist (Charles) was very polite and greeted us outside the building, and after a short wait where he finished up with a client, he got started. He spoke in depth about the color my mother needed that would best match her hair, which was great because previous salons have given the wrong color without telling her what they would be using. If you are natural, I would definitely recommend this place because Charles used a wide tooth comb to detangle our hair only when it was full of conditioner. He used a denman brush to blow out our hair, and the blowout was so smooth he only needed one pass with the flat iron to get the hair smooth! He only trimmed what was needed, the service was excellent, and for the price I cannot recommend this place enough! For the wash, blowout/ iron and trim it was about $50, and adding color makes the total about $90 (there are some beauty schools uptown charging the same price, which is how you know that for a professional job, Salon of Evidence is giving its customers a great deal). We will definitely be going back to Salon of Evidence!

Went in to get my hair blowdried so I could get my hair braided the next day. One thing I will say about Charles is that he is very flexible. I had missed my initial appointment and he managed to squeeze me in and was even willing to stay late to accommodate me. I got there and once he started to work on my hair, he took a phone call from another client and ended up leaving me for 20 minutes to go visit that client outside. I had expected the detangling process to be somewhat lengthy and rough considering I had just come out of braids the day prior but Charles was VERY rough with my hair and it honestly felt like he was scalping me (and trust me, I am not tender-headed by ANY means). He trimmed my hair (which I should NOT have let him do) and he trimmed off at least 2-3 inches. My hair was very uneven. He also was very unsubtle when trying to persuade me to give him a 5 star review and charged me $80 when I didn't even get the full blowout and simply got my hair blow dried. Do not recommend.

Charles really saved the day or more like saved the week. I literally flew into Charlotte the same day that he was able to see me and this was during COVID-19 season. I was able to make an appointment while I was at my layover in Houston and in desperate need of a haircut since in California all the salons and barbers were forced to shutter their businesses. I was flying out to Charlotte to visit my mother for her 60th bday and I really wanted to make myself look presentable to her upon my visit. Well Charles came up on Google and he was near the hotel I was staying at. I'm typicallg very hesitant when trying out new barbers or hair stylist, but for Charles' first time he nailed it. He even washed my hair afterwards. It was awesome! The whole experience! He is very nice and informative and asks the right questions when trying to get your hair done. If anything you must get your hair done by him. You will be very very pleased. Thank you Charles for making me look good!

It was almost two months since I got my hair cut and I needed to badly. I asked a random stranger in a car and he recommended a place, but it was closed on Saturday afternoon, so I searched with my phone and found Charles's business Salon of Evidence also near by in Uptown. I found the place in the nice Fifth Third bank building and was greeted at the door by Charles. He was really attentive to my hair cut. Normally I have to instruct the ladies how to cut my hair and to make sure to trim a few areas, but Charles got it right. The atmosphere was relaxing and for a first hair trim in North Carolina I was surprised that he cut my hair so well. He even trimmed my eyebrows, which no one has ever done. "It grows too and needs to be trimmed" Charles said. I'll definitely be coming back for future trims and cuts. For me his schedule is a plus, open late and accepting walk-in's. Happy about that.

But seriously, I’m natural and wanted a silk press mainly because I needed a trim and from time to time I like to do my length check. I stumbled across this gem with a quick google search and he was the closest to my job. I saw he was very diverse is hair & let’s be honest versatility is key! I called to find out his availability and had gotten an appointment the same day. I told him what I wanted and he got right to work. He’s an excellent conversationalist btw and kept me smiling/ laughing the entire time. My hair came out on point and the trim was well needed this bob look is giving me life (I hate trimming/cutting my hair lol) On one visits I found a new place that I trust with my hair. & I hope you all go visit his salon. Charles was incredibly nice, accommodating, fit me into his schedule right away, and offers great prices! With all that said, my hair did not look good once my appointment was finished. I went in for a haircut, all I needed was a trim and long, soft layers, like I already had. However, once finished, it was very uneven and very choppy layers, and when he went to thin it, I saw a chunk get cut out. I went to a different place the very next day to get it fixed, but it will take a couple cuts to get my hair back to how it should be. I do not by any means enjoy writing a critical review, and he is clearly good at what he does given the other reviews, but if you have fine to medium, thick hair, proceed with caution.

I came here for my first time in adding color to my hair and I showed him what I wanted and I was there for about 5 hours he seemed like he knew what he was doing at first but afterward he seemed concern. It didn’t seem bad at first since there’s not much lighting in there the next day I had to go somewhere to see if they could possibly help me get it fix and the girl took a picture of it and it was noticeable there was so many different colors when I don’t know how was there 5 different colors when he only used 2 colors. I tried to get at least half my refund back since he did charge me 220 but not even half a refund back. I don’t normally write reviews but I had to this time

What a great experience! First off, I have to say that coming from the New York area where any salon worth its salt will set you back $80 per cut, seeing the prices at Evidence made me happy as a clam. They are VERY reasonable. The environment is friendly and welcoming, and I love how attentive they are to giving the customer exactly what they need. I brought a synthetic hair lace front wig in to have it cut and thinned out, and Kendra (a wizard, I swear) did a perfect job and gave me pointers on how to make the wig look more natural, how to care for it, and how to style it. I'm so thrilled, and will be returning for cuts and trims on my natural hair as well.

I cannot day how amazing my experience was but it was the best ever!!!!!!. I don't trust hair salons but this will forever be the place I go and Charles will be my stylist. He is a God when it comes to highlights and doing color and man can that man wash hair. While I was there I saw the other stylists do some amazing weaves and cuts they blew my mind!!!! They were friendly funny and all.around a pleasure. Not only that but they worked me in in a Saturday and my hair is phenomenal!!!! I had uneven dark hair and walked out with beautiful highlights and ombre blonde that would have taken any other stylist three or four trips to .achieve. I love this place!!!!!

Charles was helpful on short notice, but took and made personal phone calls while coloring my hair. He was very distracted and the dye seeped into my neck/ears and forehead when he left the room a couple times. He missed chunks of hair and had to go back and dye those pieces, which resulted in a patchy look because of the uneven color. He asked me to leave a 5 star review, but I can’t honestly do that. Also be prepared because apparently they don’t have a credit card machine? Had to pay through Zelle. I don’t want to be rude but I don’t want anyone else to be disappointed with their results and the unprofessional service.

Charles did a beautiful job with my hair, I’m so happy with the results! I came in for a keratin treatment and was a little nervous about the process because I’ve never had this done before. However, as soon as he got started I knew I was in good hands! The whole process took several hours but he was extremely diligent and meticulous the entire time. I also had lots of questions and he was super patient with me. Professional, friendly, passionate about his work, genuine - just a few words to sum him up! I highly recommend if you want fabulous results!!! I will definitely be back. :)

Charles was extremely kind however I left and immediately went to another salon to get my hair fixed. I have thick, wavy/curly hair and after reading other positive reviews, maybe this hair type just isn’t his specialty. I asked for a trim and layers so my hair laid better and with more volume. The layers were cut poorly and looked clunky and frizzy. Additionally, after specifically asking for length to be maintained, several inches were chopped off rather dramatically. I hate to write reviews like this but if you have hair like mine, maybe consider trying another salon.

Had a fantastic experience yesterday at Salon of Evidence in downtown Charlotte. My hairdresser, Melly, was a true professional, and obviously had a talent and passion for doing hair. She took the time up front to ask questions and learn exactly what I wanted done, and during the cut itself she continued to check in to make sure my hair turned out exactly how I wanted. On top of giving me a fantastic cut, she was genuinely a really sweet person and fun to talk to about life in Charlotte. The owner, Charles, was a great conversationalist, as well. 10/10 would recommend.

Charles works absolute magic. He is a life savor, a hair angel to my outrageous out of control hair that was in one GIANT dread from not brushing, product overload, salt water, and laziness on my part. Time spent on my hair was 2pm to 11:30 at night... the longest process of getting my hair back to, well, hair! No one else would have done that for me, no stylist for sure, but not even my mom. He did absolutely amazing. Patient, very skillful, and a great person. Go See Charles. Treatments, hair cuts, blow drys.. he will make you look amazing!

Charles is a very good artist. Not only is he very accommodating but he is very pleasant. He makes sure he knows What you are looking for but will use his artistry to create that perfect look. His location is perfect and he is always professional. I looked hard for his shop after I came to him the very first time because he left a lasting impression. Just moved here and looked up the best salon in Charlotte and I found this place. At first, I was skeptical and thought that their employee was writing the review, but I can't agree more with all the reviews after I got my hair cut their. Charles is so friendly and makes you feel so comfortable, and the most important aspect of all is that he is amazing at cutting hair. He made me look AMAZING, and I am constantly looking at myself in the mirror. Maybe I'm gonna start taking selfie haha. I highly recommend to all of you guys.

I wish I would have listened to one of the recent reviews on here about them not being able to cut your hair to a certain length. Because I unfortunately found this to be true too. I asked for a specific cut and for them to leave my hair longer but that didn't happen. It's not a bad haircut but definitely not what I asked for. If you need your hair short and are willing to spend 45 bucks to do it go ahead and book an appointment. Otherwise go somewhere else where they will actually listen to what you ask for.

Charles was absolutely incredible! I went to him for a keratin treatment and was absolutely blown away by the results! I went from having unmanageable time consuming frizzy hair to hair with zero frizz! I can actually wash my hair and step out of my house with out the time consuming process of styling to a manageable hairdo. I HIGHLY recommend getting a keratin treatment done by Charles, it is a great investment! He is very meticulous with his work and really wants you to be a happy customer!

This man understands hair. He runs this establishment professionally, all surfaces were clean, and he takes his time, for better or worse. He’s an artist, and as such, he’s mercurial and came off as awkward at times. Personally, I don’t think he liked me very much, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. However, he did an outstanding job. He seems to have an intuition about him, for better or worse. I would absolutely let him cut my hair again, whether he likes me or not.

My experience at The Salon of Evidence has always been outstanding. I really enjoy the atmosphere which is why I have been a client for almost 4 years. Charles is a Master Stylist and whenever I leave his shop, I am stopped by someone on the street who inquires as to where did I get my hair done. Not only is Salon of Evidence a place where you can get your hair done to your specifications, but it is also a relaxing environment where you can unwind for a few hours.

Actually incredible they are still in business, I walked out with by far the worst haircut ive ever received. The dude took 30min to shave the sides of my head and that cost me $35. I could have walked in handed him the money and left and looked exactly the same. Also only takes Zelle and CashApp which is ridiculous, downloading and making an account just to pay a barber is so stupid. Please do youself a favor and not go near this place. Keep your hair

Charles is a pro. Very nice atmosphere and kind man. Got a fantastic haircut to get rid of the stay-at-home mess I had going on. Feel like a new person. His rates are great and skills to match. This was my first time here after leaving my old barber, and I'm glad to say I've found my new go to! Update: He bailed on me last time. Forgot the appointment, said if I waited he'd get out if bed and come. Waited longer than asked and he never showed.

Charles is an amazing stylist and person. I came to Charlotte for the weekend and he was nice enough to work me in for a same day appointment. He also stayed on the phone with me and directed me to the correct parking deck. He took the time to understand what hairstyle I was looking for. The result was nothing short of being fabulous! This was my first trip to the Salon and Charles was great! We started with a dry cut and then a dye and blow out. It looks great! Smells great and feels great! Greetings, I came to Charlotte from Boston on business, and Charles went above and beyond accommodating my schedule. He colored and styled my hair so beautifully, I kept getting compliments all day. I would come here every day before work if I could. Don't hesitate - you will love your hairstyle after Charles does his magic. His place is conveniently located uptown, but is in the basement, so pay attention to the signs.

New (2018) in town was so fortunate to find Mr. Charles. I needed a Keratin treatment as I arrived in August with high humidty. His styles and conditioning treatments are perfect. I try to go whenever I am in town. And he can go by your preferences in terms of type of Keratin you prefer. Excellent. Well deserving of 5 stars. I am African American, need only a partial treatment of Keratin and have very fine hair.

I came here on a whim on my way home from work. I called Charles and he graciously made time in his schedule before they closed. I came in with no idea of what I wanted other than to chop all of my hair off. He turned that idea into nothing short of a miracle. I hated my hair walking in and I’m fully in love with it now! I was absolutely thrilled with the haircut by Charles. He paid close attention to what it was that I wanted, and he spent time to get the results that I wanted. I could not be happier with the keratin treatment that Charles gave me! My hair is very curly and very thick. It took all day to blow dry and flat iron, and Charles cleared his whole schedule just for me. I wanted it smoothed out and not completely straight. I am in love with how it looks now. Salon of Evidence was my first salon experience in Charlotte. Charles is an awesome stylist. Although I was a new client, he stayed late on a Friday to accommodate my schedule. I told him what I wanted and he gave me the best precision cut that I have had outside of Chicago. The prices are fantastic and best of all, I didn't have to spend an entire day at a hair salon.

I went in to get my hair straightened with keratin and I LOVE the results. I am so happy with my hair and even more happy that I went to Salon of Evidence. My hair is a little complicated and Charles was so patient with it. He stood for hours just to make sure he detangled my hair well enough and I am so appreciative. Highly recommend!!! I am new in Charlotte and I was scary to find the right hairstylist cuz of my past experience, but then I found Charles. He is the best he made my hair exactly the way I want it (color, haircut, blow dry) he is also very friendly. I definitely will go come to this place now on. I had a very early appointment and while both the owner and I ran a tad late, he was very professional. Salon is clean, beautiful, secluded so its quiet, and the whole atmosphere is relaxed.
