"One of the worst priced Salvos store in the Western Suburbs along with Salvos Williamstown"

"This store is selling some shoes for $120 then l went to the chemist and bought Homey pad shoes on special all leather upper and lining for $39"
Used to love this place. I donate, I buy, my money I spend goes to the less fortunate, I'm not contributing to fast fashion.. win all around. Lately, something is awry. I noticed the prices were exorbitant ($20 FOR A MAGAZINE) and was told 'here is the market value' (Karen manager used eBay lol). The magazine is $24 in absolute mint condition on eBay, no bidders anywhere. First of all, why are you investigating 'market value'... Aren't people who can't afford 'market value' supposed to be able to afford what is donated? The books broke my heart ($6 plus). Kids books should be 50c or free. I'm disappointed and will be researching why the sudden change in not only ambiance, but rudeness, price hikes and inability to negotiate. Op shops are supposed to be affordable for less fortunate, and people who shop there that are fortunate hope the proceeds go to less fortunate. I found out Salvos has KPIs with BONUSES which is why the manager, who serves to profit from meeting KPIs (only paid worker), is called if you ask for a negotiation.
One star is harsh but it's a very, very ordinary look when you bring an item up to a counter and the employee takes a picture to then search it up on eBay to price it in front of customers. The price ended up being reasonable but still 30-50% more you'd expect to pay at an op shop. Item had a blank tag on it which meant the item was an an "over". In that the item was above usual, standard tier pricing. Never heard or seen something like that before at a Salvos, Vinnies, BSL, Red Cross, etc. Really flies in the face of the supposed community aspect of the organisation. Overly dressed up as a boutique-like place as well and one of the most obscenely expensive Salvos out there. Size and variety were great, staff were friendly, attentive for me and the lady was reasonable in giving me a discount on two other mispriced items so it wasn't all bad.
One of the worst priced Salvos store in the Western Suburbs along with Salvos Williamstown. Hopefully another retail space can move in here in the future because the location and size is excellent. This is wasted on a poorly priced op shop dressing itself up as a boutique retailer. It feels like you very much have to fluke a bargain or two here, which flies in the face of the supposed NFP ethics of the overall organsation. Too much of a boutique vibe here with too many glass cabinets housing overpriced goods. Awful pricing on all clothing, $5 for FIFA 14 on PS4? GTFO. They ask $8+ for scarves and hats which are $4-5 tops in other Salvos stores. Lots of stock for homewares, furniture, manchester, books and a well sized store - but for me I'm wanting quality > quantity. A literal waste of space.
They had everything for $2 that had a yellow tag. I brought a brown jacket, that had the $2 yellow tag, the lady behind the counter said, the ladies didn’t do there job right, I said what do you mean. And her raising her voice stated that they should have taken the yellow tag off this. I just said sorry paid and walked out. As I was walking out people where looking at me. I felt so small. As a promise I will not return
This store is selling some shoes for $120 then l went to the chemist and bought Homey pad shoes on special all leather upper and lining for $39.99 ...how on earth do you justify that!! a second hand store pricing items as if it was some kind of a boutique or a Antique shop they are not taxed as a Antique store ....absolutel greed and pathetic
Prices are ridiculous for goods that are donated and meant to support the needy, beyond the budget of most and subject to "what staff consider valuable or not" Shame on you, as a store it's there for the most vulnerable, not just for resellers, and the prices should reflect this!
I didn't like the middle aged short haired lady on Saturday afternoon around about 2pm describe customers of the store as xxxxxxxx because they didn't agree with the pricing she set on a unpriced item. Worse she used very bad language describing them.very poor quality volunteers
Very large op shop with plenty of parking out the front, there's lots of good stuff inside, some of the prices are outrageous and overpriced. They sell second hand items of womens, childrens and mens clothing, shoes, homewares, books, toys, jewellery, collectables and furniture.
I must say, this is one of the worst priced op shops I have stepped foot into my whole life! $50 for a pair of jeans is ridiculous. Charity shops are supposed to help those who cannot afford store prices whereas the Taylors lakes salvos believe otherwise.
So I am mad for thrift shopping. I go multiple times a week to various locations. I have noticed that a large number of items here are very overpriced (compared to other op shops in the area). Can occasionally find a bargain but overall too expensive here
Ridiculous! I donated a whole boot load of next to new items. I went to the back to donate and the gentleman was so rude, questioning each item, picking each item up and studying it, no wonder people just chuck it away! A joke! Never again!
Thoroughly enjoyed my time visiting the Salvos yesterday afternoon! Lots of variety in clothing and goods and found some little pre loved gems to take home :) Will definitely be back again sometime soon, great way to spend a weekend!
Spacious place but horrible priced, most of the stuff are so overpriced, I never leave an op shop empty handed but this place won that, would not recommend this op shop
Loved coming in here but why are the dvds so overpriced? They should be 20c-50c considering they get them for free. Other then that it was wonderful
Extremely over priced. A green mug they had on the shelf they where trying to sell for $35.... and many other over priced items.
Not much changes in regard to stock, l visit every few months.! Busy carpark area if visiting late morning. Disappointing!
Such a spacious but well organized lovely shop! I picked out some nice items and nice chats with friendly staffs.
Best op shop in the north west! Great products, friendly and helpful staff. Heaps of great bargains!
Great layout and plenty of stock. But $9 plus for a cook book. You've got to be joking right?!
Great store, so much variety and beautiful staff. Some things are a little expensive though.
