I ordered from ubereats here - but then I received a completely different order, also one of the packaging lid got quite a hole at the corner Might’ve got my order swapped with other customer’s order. *Just realised now that apparently the plastic bag has my name on it (photo attached), so not the uber driver’s mistake. Was quite upsetting, but I’m hungry already and I don’t mind with the food, so.. I tried it. I got chicken ribs with egg fried rice & fried kueh teow delivered to me. Chicken ribs already got a bit soggy so wasn’t crispy anymore, but taste-wise not too bad. I do like the egg fried rice tho, the subtle yet fragrant taste complements the chicken ribs very well. Or maybe they put MSG on it that makes you keep eating it hahahah The kueh teow was surprisingly bland and has no taste at all except for the fish cake, hmmm.. will not have this anymore here Portion wise, they’re good.

Located is a residential area in an quiet atmosphere. Friendly staff and fast service. Food is delicious here. I had the kung pao tofu on rice and vegetarian mee goreng. Both dishes tasted very good. There are plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. The kids are provided kids tableware and cutlery. They have high chairs available for kids as well.

On 2nd Jan 2022, we went to Sambal Kampung Edgewater and was again let down by poor non- existent service. We stood at the sign that says Wait to be seated, did our check ins but only to have an older staff asked If we are alright and then tended to the fish tank. We waited there confused and asked if they want to serve us or not to which they said if we want a table they will set it up. If we want a table? No we are there to inconvenient them. We turned around and left. Below's review was 3 years ago. Pretty average the food. Nothing to shout about. The staff could use a little smile and friendliness. There were about 5 tables filled for lunch and when it was down to us and another table, the aircon was turned off, probably to save energy but totally inconsiderate of us as their patrons. It was getting warm so we quickly ate and left.

Really poor service.. Restaurant was less than half full but we waited ages for someone to come take our order. I tried catching their attention multiple times but to no avail. The lady at the counter had been taking takeaway orders for people who walked in after us so I went up to the counter to order too but she told me to sit down and they will come to me. I waited some more and still the lady continued to take takeaway orders, make and serve drinks etc and no one came to take our order so we got fed up and left. Ended up eating somewhere nearby and ordered the same food that I was planning to order from sambal kampung and their food and service was excellent

I always give 5 stars even from deliveroo or DoorDash. I ordered the same thing most of the time, and I even called to ask to make it extra spicy. When I called this time the guy at the front said “ u already choose spicy, what do u want to change? “ And I said yes I did, I just to make sure to make it super spicy. And he hang up. My food came and isn’t spicy at all. Is really sad because I been like this restaurant, and from deliveroo I might been orderder almost 30times. However work outside need to understand the customer need. Is very simple. I didn’t ask much. Most of the time food was good, this time I’m very disappointed. Sorry

4.5* Really delicious food (probably due to it being laced with salt/sugar/msg). Great for a dirty (in a good way) classic chinese/malaysian takeaway fix. The beef with bitter melon, chicken ribs and roti with chicken curry came to $46 so good value. Quick service, good place for casual lunch/dinner. Slight surcharge on card payments. MAY TAKEAWAY UPDATE - of course takeaway will never be as fresh/good/hot as dining in but I do NOT get the 'Singapore noodles'. These are nothing like they should be - no curry powder, no char siu and more of a pad thai flavour.

The Curry Fish head and hot plate tofu were so delicious that we couldn’t have expected more. The taste is so close to those in Malaysia that you can’t tell the difference. The 3colour dessert is savoury. Highly recommended!

Ordered beef in black bean sauce and pork rib with Guiness sauce. The beef was ok. The rib was unappetising. It was clearly frozen before hand and reheated. The cut of meat had large chunks of unrendered fat and stringy. I wish restaurants would shrink their menu and focus on fresh ingredients and a few signature dishes that they do well. Instead, this restaurant has like 100+ dishes with many that probably just sit in freezers. There's no way they can do all of them well. It's a real hit and miss.

Hands down the best malaysian and Singaporean food in Melbourne. It's Melbourne's best kept secret tucked away in a quiet corner in Marribyrnong. Must tries are the nasi goreng, seafood curry laksa, cereal prawns, roti canai, and hainanese chicken rice. Even their teh tarik is good.

We adore every dish you serve, but this is wrong. In addition to Hokkien noodles and minced pork over egg dry noodles, we also ordered Nasi Goreng Kampung. As per usual, the food was delicious, but the Nasi Goreng Kampun worried me since we discovered a few hairs, which, upon closer inspection, turned out to be the bristles of the brush that was used to cleanse the pan not just one, but a few .

We went there on Saturday (1st Oct) between the time 4-5pm. The food was not hot, it was not even that warm. The front of house definitely did not possess customer service skills. We won’t be going there again, such a shame. When we asked for extra sambal, she spoke in Cantonese which was very disrespectful. It’s a pity for a restaurant to represent Malaysian Chinese cuisine without showing the beauty of the culture and proper hospitality.

Around 10 Takeaway orders last Sunday. Singapore Fried noodles and Sotong Mee was very tasty. ☆5 Chicken and pork dishes will be very nice for dining in. ☆4 Fried rice was dry. ☆1 The curry chicken was little spicy and while having the chicken curry, the piece of plastic came out from mouth. ☆-5 Very disappointing and I really wish the plastic wasn't in the food and would be fine all together I wouldn't recommend this place.

I had Laksa craving today , but I didn’t want to go to busy highpoint weekend to eat Laksa, so I googled and hit the Sambal Kampung in my local area . There are lots of car park spots, just 5 mints away from highpoint . I had seafood curry Laksa with mix noodles. It was nice and spicy . Some piece of fish, shrimps , fish cakes and fish balls. They have outdoor seats in summer ( at moment ,area was closed ) Next time, I would like to try some rice dishes . Thank you for the delicious Laksa .

  • Ping Chong

Three of us went there on a Thursday night for dinner, the place was not busy. We ordered the prawns with egg yolk ($32), eggplant with pork mince ($22), and the yam nest with kungpow chicken which is a chef special ($48). In my opinion the prawn and eggplant was just OK, the yam nest tasted nice but on the expensive side. All in all a pleasant experience.

Below average Malaysian food. Ordered the CQT & laksa via takeaway. Char Quey Teow was extremely bland and lacking flavour. Seafood laksa was too sweet and lacked the same. Passable for non Malaysians though. However, if you're looking for a good, delicious authentic Malaysian spot, there would be better recommendations elsewhere cheaper or around the same price.

Food is good. The BKT "Bak Kut Teh" was very clear and not super oily. The Crispy fried chicken ribs with salt and chilli flakes was very good. The Kolo Mee was good too. The hainanese chicken rice is good too. The chili is good. The only thing missing is a good PENANG WHITE CURRY noodles or "Curry Mee" from the menu. It would make this place a Malaysian food heaven if they had that because it is very VERY different from the Laksa that Melbourne has.

  • spoonfork fork

I have revised my original review. This was a good place to eat but the quality has really gone down hill. Have been here a number of times and the last time we came the Fish head Laksa was very average. Hardly any broth and the little broth that was in the Laksa had very little flavor. The fried fish head was very bland. The other dishes I ordered were OK. I can really only give this place a 2.5 stars and would only come as a last resort.

I have had a few take away from here and found them quite good. Dined in for dinner. Service was good, wait times was fair but they brought food out over a ten min interval which has that ethical choice of waiting for the last meal to arrive v does yours go cold. Cancelled my Uber order 1 hour after ordering, didn’t even bother to have the courtesy to call to advise they’re cancelling. I contacted Uber and they said the restaurant cancelled randomly. Poor form, was my first order and had heard high reviews from people. Disappointing. Should shut off Uber system if it’s not functioning to your business rather then leaving customers hungry after 1 hour of waiting.

Love all the dishes and staffs are very nice ❤️ I called to pre-order 2 crabs and told to be confirmed later. The ship is quite hidden here in a corner but they were doing good lunchtime business when I visited. The lunch specials are great value. The food was delicious and the sambal is very authentic tasting. Both of our meals were filling and tasty. The lobak or lob buk as it is on the menu here was as good as any I've tasted. The food was brought to our table fast despite the shop being quite busy.

The female manager/cashier is very intimidating even to customers. You can tell that the employees are very scared of her. We booked 6:15 and arrived 6:05 and she blurred out "why so rush" in Cantonese thinking we don't understand. The tables are empty...... The food is so so, nothing special. experience as a customer very sub par. Won't be coming back simply because of the lady in charge.

  • Anisa Anwar

Loved the fried chicken ribs and sambal kangkong, would recommend those dishes! Food didn't take long to come out but FOH service was a bit slow since there was only one person out. You can sort of self-service by taking the menu and seating yourselves, then ordering at the register instead of waiting around for the wait staff to attend to you.

The service by the staff needs to improve. You can't treat customers like they are the source of your unhappiness. One day the customers will stop returning no matter how your dish tastes. Simple customer service tip: if you are busy, it is okay to look up from the counter, acknowledge the customers and let them know you will be with them shortly. That will be better than ignoring them.

  • Javier Gomez

Very good option for Maribyrnong locals. Service it's ok. Food was very tasty. We got butter prawns, seafood laksa and tossed vegetables. All good and very reasonable price. Would like to come back to taste some other dishes like a type of hainanese chicken and a sort of steamed fish with soy freshly cooked from an aquarium in the restaurant. A big yes for this local restaurant.

Out of all chicken curry laksas I have had in Melbourne, this is by far the worst. Very stingy, only one tiny tofu puff cut in half Missing the normal eggplant or any fish cake/ fish balls. It is a takeaway meal but please show some respect to your customers. As a first time customer you have lost my business. Will definitely not return or recommended.

I ordered the chicken curry laksa. It was very tasty with a decent amount of chicken pieces. It wasn't very spicy at all. The venue itself is an unassuming, no frills suburban restaurant and perfect for quick lunch or dinner. Service was prompt and efficient. Restaurant is wheelchair accessible. Amex not accepted.

  • Emeline Mocco

Incredibly quick ! From the ordering time to having the meal in front of you, it is crazy awesome ! I'm a huge fan of their seafood laksa, however I got unlucky a couple of time by trying another soup and a stir fried. The staff is also super duper friendly, it is nice to go there when no one wanna cook at home.
