So here is our story. We own an old 1997 Ford Ranger ("Rusty" is her name) and use her everyday as a work truck. A few weeks ago, the Heater Control Valve (HCV) busted open and coolant went everywhere. Luckily we got home with minimal to no overheating. The HCV is a nothing $20 part that is so easy to fix, but we didn't have the time that week, so we took our car to our local mechanic who I previously trusted, Otto Motive. They told us that they did a block test, and that the truck failed, and that the truck should be junked, and they would be could give us $400 for it. They also said they wouldn't fix the HCV, and that they COULD look into a whole new engine but it would probably be about $7000. My husband did not believe them, as the rep was acting cagey, so we got her towed home. Thinking we could do no additional damage, and knowing minimal about auto repair, we fixed the HCV, and a couple vacuum leaks, but it seemed the truck still wasn't running smoothly, and I was convinced that the Head Gasket was blown or it needed a whole new engine as the other body shop said. I had given up hope and figured we would need to shell out $30K (we don't have) to buy a new truck. We had done all we could to the best of our knowledge, and as a last ditch effort, I asked around for referrals. My work mate suggested Chris Satterfield. Got the truck towed to Chris. I was skeptical and thought we would probably have to buy a new truck. Pulled up in the tow truck and Chris was there to greet me. He started the truck right up and IMMEDIATELY found another vacuum leak (just by looking), which fixed the rough idle we were experiencing. He also stated that the truck "runs like a dream" -which gave me newfound hope that I hadn't had in weeks. He also drove me home for free out of the kindness of his heart. We left it with Chris to diagnose and he called back after a couple days and said there was really nothing wrong with the truck. I couldn't believe him...and I couldn't believe how another shop would say that to us. Because the truck is not brand new (lol), there were many small fixes that it needed, so Chris went ahead and repaired those, and changed some gaskets as well. Within in a couple days, he called and told me it was ready. He even came to pick me up from the house to come retrieve the truck. When I got there, I was stunned! Not only did the truck run more smoothly than ever with all his fixes we agreed on (A/C, headlights, valves, engine cleaning, door regulator), it looked beautiful as well! He had even fixed the broken horn and spray-painted the grill as a courtesy. It is a week later now as well, and the truck is losing NO coolant, NOT overheating, and Chris was perfectly correct. He was wonderful to work with, and really told us the TRUTH. Thank God for someone who takes pride in their work, who is honest, and who enjoys what they do. My husband & I have been going to RPM for 10 years with our 2 cars. Recently management changed and we no longer felt they had the customer's best interest at heart (also only 1 guy left there can drive a stick shift and he doesn't work everyday). I asked a group of moms for recs and this is where they said to go-- Satterfield Automotive. I called Chris up when RPM called to tell me I had a $1200 repair on my hands (1 day after an $800 repair and then on the drive home it had a burning smell so we turned right around and left it with them again). RPM said my brake caliper was bad and my brakes needed to be totally replaced ONE DAY after handing me a clean report that my brakes were all good. Chris told me to bring it there and have him do his own inspection. He inspected it and looked deeper into the problem, took a bit more time & energy and solved the problem for $130. I will be going back to have my brakes flushed and even then it won't amount to $300-- so that $1200 number from RPM seems even more shady now. Not only that-- you can tell Satterfield Auto really cares about customers & educating them about their car so it'll last-- they aren't just trying to make a bunch of money off you. Also-- I am glad to be switching to a small business over the corporate thing RPM has become. Chris got me in & out in time to pick up my kids from school and I felt good about the entire experience. Mr. Chris is hands down---PHENOMENAL! I just moved back to Jax for work, and I was experiencing several issues with my car regarding the starter. My car would not start on my first day at work so I called a mobile mechanic for help. After the mobile mechanic "fixed my car," my vehicle continued to break down 1-2 times a week for 4 weeks straight! Finally, I did a google search for "mechanics" and Satterfield Automotive Repairs popped up. I was impressed by the reviews, so I gave him a call. I explained my situation and told Mr. Chris I really needed my car to get to work for my new job. Under these emergency conditions, Mr. Chris met me after hours to diagnose my car's issue. What impressed me the most is that Mr. Chris contacted each previous mechanic that worked on my car to discuss my car's previous issues before he diagnosed my car's issue...which was a big mystery! He also talked to my old mechanics back home in South Florida to verify parts previously purchased in order to verify my warranty------which saved me A TON on parts. Thereafter, Mr. Chris fixed my car and gave me some additional feedback on how to keep my car running steady. I told him I want to keep my car for at least 2 more years, and he said he would do his best to help me achieve that goal! I'm so impressed and relieved to find him. He's honest, hard working, caring, and very passionate about his work! Don't look any further----Mr. Chris is THE BEST!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1994 Toyota Celica which I am sentimental about. Yes, I could have spent the money on a newer used car but decided to fix this one up if it was 'worth it' to me. After leaving it with Aamco and Toyota dealership and spending tons on money it eventually still would not start. They didn't tell me what other issues were going on with the car but seem to just do the minimum, took the money and left me with an undriveable car with me not knowing how much more it would need. I think due to ineptitude or dishonesty I was not provided with a realistic picture and a non-working car. When I told them they didn't seem to know or didn't seem to care. It actually died on me in a store parking lot and hence we found Satterfield Auto Repair. Like another poster said, Chris is the real deal. He takes pride in his work. Not only did he find and show us the issues he understands the inner workings and will share things with you because he just has that much experience. He told me what needed work on and what could be held off at a later time. The car sounds great. Chris goes above and beyond and I will be forever grateful for the care he has shown my favorite car.

I saw the great reviews for this mechanic and decided to take my wife's car here. The battery light was on and I figured it was the alternator. I had a tow truck drop the car off there and told Chris (the owner/mechanic) what was going on. He had me sign a paper saying he would look at it and give me a quote for repairs. Long story short, he was charging nearly double what everyone else was. Almost $500 dollars to change the alternator. When I said no, that I would pick the car up, he wanted a $100 dollar payment for diagnosing it. I told him that he never said anything about a diagnosis charge at all, let alone such an expensive one, and he said I should have assumed. Wow! It took about ten minutes of arguing with him from my job over the phone before he would let the tow truck driver just pick up the car. So to sum it up, be prepared for a dishonest experience unless you want to pay nearly double what any other reputable mechanic will charge you. I don't know where these other posts find the honesty in his business, unless they just don't know what the cost is supposed to be for mechanical work. Just be aware of what you are walking into.

I bought a very nice Chevy 3100 from 1948. After a couple of months, I noticed a problem and it turned out the engine needed to be rebuilt. While it’s very nice to drive these old cars, it turned out to be very difficult to find someone that can do the work on it. I am in IT and we Google all IT problems. With these old cars, you need mechanics that have been around the block. It turned out that these guys are really good with their hands and spend more time in the shop than building their website. Until… I found Chris. He turned out to be the right guy for this job. He really cared about the car and fix the issue. In addition, while the engine was rebuilt, he did additional things like fixing some brake issues, repainted the parts in the engine compartment. The result was stunning!!! Chris and his team turned out to be a great choice for me and were fair in their price! I would absolutely bring my car back to him and am very glad I can trust my car to them. Thanks guys!!!

Saturday evening my mother-in-law passed away. Oh my Way home from the hospital, my AC in my van started to make a horrible sound. The next day I made a search on Google and found Satterfield‘s. I saw that the reviews were wonderful so I gave them a call. I spoke with Chris and shared with him what had happened, first he was very sympathetic for the loss of my mother-in-law. He also shared with me that he had just lost his mother two years before. He told me to bring it in on Tuesday and he would check it out and he would get it fixed. I took it in at 11 o’clock On Tuesday morning, Chris got his guy on it right away. He got it fixed and the price was fair. My AC is blowing cold! Thank you so much Chris and your guy that works for you. We will be bringing our auto repair business to you from now on.

After breaking down on the highway exit ramp we randomly picked Satterfield's garage to service our motorhome. The tow truck driver couldn't take all of us and Chris came to drive the extra person back to his garage without any extra charge. He quickly let us know that he would take care of us and solve the complicated problem of the broken down RV. He made us feel like family and let us fill up on water, use his WIFI and electricity. We highly recommend calling this garage if you have mechanial problems. If you are looking for a garage, this is the one!!!!!!!

My car needed a new water pump and water pump belt unexpectedly. Chris was able to get my vehicle in, ordered and received the necessary part and fixed it all in a matter of 2 hours. I was actually pretty surprised at how quickly he got it done. He educated me on the problem, how it affects my car, and how to take better care of my vehicle, plus he was also transparent/upfront with his costs. He took care of me very well and even did some courtesy cleaning for my vehicle. I think my vehicle actually drives better now since he worked on it. Thanks again Chris!

Had a little accident where I cracked my transmission fluid holder. Car broke down due to lack of fluid/pressure on bay meadows about 2 miles from the shop. Had my 11 month old with me and couldn’t hard core search and research repair places to tow it to in 90 degree heat. Looked at reviews and sent it here. Glad I did as literally less than a week later all is well and fixed. Car runs smooth and looks like I’m on the clear and didn’t kill my transmission. Will now be bringing back both my cars for oil changes and any other general maintenance/repairs.

I was looking to purchase a used vehicle… The car dealer let me take it in for an inspection... so I took it to Satterfield Automotive… He took me right in as I was there from out of town and the car dealership would be closing in a couple of hours… He did a thorough inspection of the vehicle and explained all the issues that were wrong with this car… I appreciate how he worked me in when I called and explained everything in detail to my son that was wrong with the vehicle. I own a 1980 Ford Escort. Chris has done an excellent job maintaining and repairing the car. The car runs better than before I started taking it to him. He also polished up a minor scratch at no charge without me asking him to do it. Really shows the detail and pride in his work. He is usually helping many customers so you may need to wait a couple weeks if the work is not urgent but it is well worth the wait. I highly recommend his services and I am very thankful to have him as a mechanic.

I came with my daughter about her car. Well, Mr. Chris did a diagnostic on it and basically found the main issue with the vehicle. Chris is the most honest, upfront and trustworthy mechanic i’ve came across. He went out of his way to help me unexpectedly and went above and beyond. Oil changed, serpentine belt replaced, brake light replaced, tag light replaced and cleaned up my oil leak to the best of his ability. He even fixed my bolt on my wiper without asking for free which shows me he connects with customers on a personal level. I highly recommend him!!

I was on my way to the beach with my friends when my truck broke down on the side of the highway. I googled mechanics and Chris’ shop pulled up. I towed my truck there and explained my situation and he got me and my friends to the beach in 2 and a half hours. As someone who doesn’t know much about vehicles, it was such a refreshing change of pace to take my car to Chris, who not only diagnosed and fixed my problem with my starter, but he took me out to his workshop and shower and explained things to me, and I am so Thankful! I had an emergency AC failure. The right side was blowing hot and the other side cold and I am moving in 3 days to Ohio. I called and the told me that I can come in right away. My issue was resolved within an hour. Everything was explained well , the guy was very professional and sincere and the price was decent. I would definitely recommend this place.

I went to get my AC compressor diagnosed because it was making a funny noise. Chris took the time to find out it was the AC clutch that was bad and explain what he was doing while doing it so that I was more informed on what was going on. Very knowledgeable and and doesn't try to upsell you on anything you didn't go in for. Highly recommend.

I love this machanic he took care of my car better than any mechanic I've dealt with at the dealership. The dealership charged me to do a complete tune up (valve cover, valve gasket, pcv hose, spark plugs, and coils) for $1871 and he had me pay for it at $1081. My car feels a lot smoother on the run and its not miss firing anymore.

Was an excellent mechanic. I'm in from Louisiana for work and car broke down called him and he fit me in between other work. Took in for certain repairs and found out was something else caused it. He called me and informed me about it and told me cost of everything before he done work on it and had completed in very short time.

After Express Lube ruined my oil filter assembly on my Chrysler Town and Country, Chris jumped in and repaired the oil unit for less than what Jacksonville Chrysler wanted for a diagnostic fee. THANKS CHRIS! If I could give you more than 5 stars, I would.

Chris installed a new Flowmaster exhaust & tuned my 1987 Corvette. He did a fantastic job. The car was running terrible when I brought it to him and now runs GREAT!! I highly recommend Satterfield Auto as he treats your car as if it's his own.
