A seriously amazing experience watching the hockey game. The atmosphere is electric with tons of people cheering and the dome erupts after every point. A save? You'll hear cheers. A point scored against Calgary? There's still applause. It's the people that make it such a fun experience! You can actually feel the heat from the "fire cannons" after the flames score. The whole stadium is spectacularly red, from the lighting to the fan jerseys. A husky will fire out jerseys during the game too! How that dog got a firearm license is beyond me. The view from all sections gives you a decent view of the game so no need to worry about visibility (they also have huge TV screens for sections farther from the rink). Intermission means a flood of people heading to the washrooms so there is 100% a line for every single washroom. They have metal detectors before you enter the dome as well and you're not allowed to bring in food/drink. Food sold there is alright, beer, mac n cheese, fries, pretzels, your typical game food. They did have vegetarian options though. There's plenty of stalls strewn around the hallways with vendors walking up the stairway to sell directly at your seat. Some issues I have are with the hallways leading to the seats + the seats themselves. The Saddledome wasn't even fully filled and there were issues with getting out after the game. There's just so little room to move around that you're squished. Also getting to your seat in the middle of a row is seriously annoying. There's very little room to walk past other people so try to get tickets on the edge of the row. My tickets were 240$ for 2 people in section 2 but that can vary. It's definitely aging consider Calgary's population but it does the job. Space issues and the overall look is industrial. That said, you'll have a great time despite these small issues. It's a must go and the facility itself shouldn't stop you from relaxing and having a blast at the Saddledome! So much fun!
As a professional musician (percussionist), it was a pleasure to come here and be part of the orchestra that backed-up Cirque. The production staff were generally excellent. However, the reason why I gave this venue a three-star review is because I was shouted, sworn at, and threatened by the IATSE workers who wanted to take their stage down because I was "taking too long" to remove my percussion equipment from the stage, and they actually implied that they would just roll it off of the edge (thereby destroying it) if they were to ultimately lose patience - despite the fact that I was scrambling and working absolutely as hard as I could (and I am not only very physically fit, but also accustomed to assembling and dismantling those instruments). It ended up resulting in a confrontation between the American Federation of Musicians and IATSE, which was never adequately resolved. If you vend here, just make sure to never tick-off an IATSE employee. They might try to destroy all of your business assets. Otherwise the show was a great time! The audio engineers certainly were consummate professionals!
I had the opportunity to experience ice hockey for the first time in Calgary, and it was truly impressive! I attended a Calgary Flames game and was engulfed in the passionate cheering. The atmosphere in the stadium was electric and full of intensity. I was amazed by the players' speed and skills, and the flurry of the puck and the sound of skates on the ice filled me with excitement. The Flames' victory, in particular, was awe-inspiring. The entire crowd was ecstatic, raising their voices in celebration. This sense of unity is a memory I will never forget. I had the chance to fully experience the charm and passion of ice hockey and was deeply impressed by Calgary's ice hockey culture.
Had the best time in a long while watching the hockey game at the Scotiabank Saddledome go flames go . The Saddledome seems to be making the best of the times we are in keeping everyone one safe and happy to the best of thier abilities well still letting you enjoy a night out watch the game. Concession stands are temporary closed and you are not able to drink or eat in the stadium at your seats until further notice do to guild line. Loads of parking available for games bring cash $15 dallors tho they may be able brake a 20. All and all looming forward to going back again as well as everything opening back up.
Second time here, but first in like 9 years. So my biggest disappointment is getting to “club” seats, going down small corridors - very old arena - and the fact that concessions closed at ~9:45pm local time - over an hour before the end of the Iron Maiden concert. I couldn’t even get a water - at least anywhere near my seat (I wasn’t gonna go wander around). Just horrible. Good riddance to the S’ Dome in the coming years I suppose. And for the sake of regulars, hope they fix the concession issue.
As the stadium has been around a while, the only thing that could improve is facilities for disabled patrons, especially those who require walking canes or wheelchair access. The stairways are really steep and the seating is not so comfortable. Bring a cushion if you are fussy. Other than that the atmosphere at a professional hockey game was electric. I do wish people would stay in their seats, it detracts from viewing an event. Get your drinks and popcorn etc on the way in.
Nice place lots of exits lots of parking options with multiple street exits too. It might take you a while to understand which exit and which parking is the best according to your seats but once you do it you really have no excuse for traffic or long waits in the car after events. Inside, the same. A little confusing but every arena is kind of like this. My long time complain: no family bathrooms (or at least I haven't seen them and some staff doesn't know if they exist)
I came here to see 50 cent. It was amazing! It was well run and organized. Security, people selling merch and everyone else was really nice and helpful. They kept everything organized. Got some nice seats on the floor. My camera quality is bad, don't let it fool you. But it was a good experience. I didn't get lost or anything. Everything started in time. Just come a lot earlier if there are big events. 50 cent, Jeremih and Busta? What a time to be alive!
Visited here while at stampede. Got to take a tour of the arena only as I have never seen a live game or event here. The arena is excellent as all seats look like they have a good view and appear very comfortable Food and drink are great and arena is awesome. We ate at the Sports Bar restaurant attached at the entrance. Would go back to this arena again for any venue or just for the restaurant Finally got to go to game Dec 9/23 against the Devils.
The saddledome needs to be revamped. The seats are old, coming apart in some areas. Very uncomfortable to sit in for hours on end and we the people are squished in side by side without even space for drink holders so there are none in many rows. The food vendors are boring and tasteless. The bathroom skinks are from the ice age. I really enjoy watching lacross though and there isnt anywhere else to watch. So kinda stuck with the dome for now.
We were attending a Flames game as a hockey team. The boys and their families enjoyed it! We were there for the New Years Eve game. We enjoyed the fireworks after the game. Nice touch! We had seats together as a team but were sitting way up top. It was a good view of the game, and we all got to sit together. However, there were SO MANY stairs!!! I hope the new arena will be better planned out. Otherwise, a great time had by all!
Extra time in an @NHL city means, rink tour! @RickTulsie was an amazing tour guide, loves his job & the Saddledome. While an old arena (currently 2nd oldest in the league), it still is home to amazing fans and the game. Love the trophy cases, stories & history along the concourse. Looking forward to my next visit to Calgary, maybe a #BattleForAlberta matchup and possibly the planned new arena.
I have been to the Scotiabank Saddledome during Calgary Stampede before. But this was my first time to watch an ice performance there. Disney On Ice was a great show. I am so glad I made it during my visit in Calgary. The stage at the Saddledome was excellent for this show. My overall experience was awesome. Hopefully I can watch more shows or games at the Saddledome in the future.
One of my absolute favourite places. The staff are all amazing from the concession to the staff directing you to your seats. The atmosphere is so fun and inviting- we absolutely love going to the Scotiabank Saddledome and even more so being a part of the C of Red! We will be sad when the day comes that we have a new arena and the Saddledome won’t be the main attraction downtown.
Went and checked out Flames and Washington game. Great ice level seats behind the Caps goal. We won 5-2. Only issues food and drinks are crazy prices (2 beer $25)(hotdogs, nachos,Coke $25), can't leave the building at intermission for anything as yoy won't be allowed back in even with tickets. Parking sucks when leaving, thankful I parked at a friend's condo 3 blocks over .
When planning my trip, I made sure a visit to the Saddledome was included in the itinerary. I went to the season opener for the Calgary Flames and had a great time. Security wasn't bad as I entered and met some great people too. The food selection isn't bad and the beer selection was better. Even if you aren't a Flames fan, you need to go for the atmosphere. So much fun!!
Though older, this stadium is still nice. Easy to walk to from the city center. There is a variety of stands and shops around the venue. I will say, and this is no fault of the stadium, but if you go to a hockey game try to plan your taxi home ahead of time or walk for a bit before calling one, as it gets very busy and Ubers were extremely limited.
It was a long awaited moment on my Dad's and my Bucket List to visit the Saddledome someday for a game before it gets demolished. We may have been rooting for the Rangers, but I want to Thank the Flames Staff for being very friendly! I celebrated my Dad's Birthday that night and the Saddledome staff made sure to wish my Dad a Happy Birthday!
Yes we are finally getting a new arena soon for our team .. but still love this old unique looking Saddledome !!! Great history 88 Olympics (I was there) World Juniors , Flames of the 80's our Stanley Cup 89!!!! So many great memorys ... POCKET DAWGS !!!!! GO ISLES !!! HAHA AND GO FLAMES GO (When they dont play the NY Islanders haha)
We had a wonderful time at the Flames game. Been a fan from Texas for 22 years and finally made a trip to see the team at home. Wasn’t disappointed at all (besides the shut out), and was thrilled I got to see the classic Saddledome before the erection of a new stadium. Wish I could go back right now! Had such a fun night out there!
Pengrowth Saddledome is a sports and entertainment icon! Its electric atmosphere during games and concerts is unbeatable. The venue's modern facilities and friendly staff ensure a fantastic experience. Whether you're a sports fan or music lover, this place delivers top-notch entertainment. A must-visit in Calgary!
We found tour information at the last minute and went along, not knowing what to expect. My wife and I really appreciated Rick's passion (the guide). His knowledge of the stadium, history, and sports was great to hear. I would recommend a tour for sure! There is a merchandise store open during the day there also.
The experience at the Saddledome is always a lot of fun. Try the burnt-end beef brisket with cornbread on the second level close to the visitor net when they start the first. It's amazing and very filling. We always make the mistake of ordering 2 when 1 is more than enough. For the Saddledome the price is great!
It's a fun place to watch the Calgary sports teams. It's definitely showing its age, but none the less It has decent viewing angles in the lower bowl and 2nd tier. They have expanded the food and beverage selection a bit, which is nice. Adding in a couple of new areas and bringing a fresher vibe to the concourse
Such a Historic building. A must visit during a hockey game before they decommission in 5 years. Atmosphere are awesome during flames game. Super fun. A lot of history in this building from 1988 Olympics to Calgary flames Stanley Cup 1989 and 2002-2003 flames Playoff run the birth of “C of Red”.
I've started going to flames games more regularly, and I've enjoyed finding new food to try. The experimental kitchen is always a place I stop to see what they are creating that day, but last game we found the soft taco stand, and we were thrilled with the chicken tacos. And flames won in OT!
Shifty arena which hosts a shifty to mediocre team at best. Can't host modern concerts unless they are dumbed down and they charge the same prices for everything like they do in Edmonton in there new rink. Absolutely abysmal and I feel for anyone who has seasons tickets to this nonsense.
It's pretty good, they're definitely trying (lots of staff, etc) but it's hard to get through any lines in a timely manner and security is slow to get through (if you're arriving 30 minutes before a Flames game you might not be in your seat for puck drop with food/drink).
A great venue that is actually affordable in the current NHL. Most seats are unobstructed and its a very kid friendly venue. It is definitely a dated arena and one of the oldest, but it has great character. This review is done from an NHL game watching perspective.
I know it's last minute. But nothing online was posted that they would be closed at the box office on Dec 23rd. Pretty pissed about it. I would have liked to have physical tickets for a Xmas present and during they close to early for me to make it in time.
Purchased flames tickets for a great price, with great seats. But the concourse vendors are unnecessarily expensive It was nice to see fundraising groups at the snack kiosks. Thank you to the staff who have a big cleanup after each game. …
Great place! The energy is always amazing, we visited the Dutton Lounge and it was so cool, hidden, didn't even know it was there! We've watched Hitmen and Roughneck games, plus concerts too! Parking further out from the Saddledome, bring cash!
Loved seeing the Wranglers hockey game here. The seats were very comfortable. One side was nicer with extra padding on the seats and cup holders and the other side was more plain. Good prices for the food and drinks. If your okay to pay a
This was my very first time visiting the dome and coincidentally the first time seeing a hockey game and I had a fantastic time. I stayed in the P1 level and the view was great. The tickets were inexpensive and the bars/food were great.
We had a box suite for a corporate event. The food was alright at best, not a lot of options compared to other arenas I've been and if you don't drink alcohol as the DD nothing but coffee or soda, no espresso options like lattes,
We watched ice hockey game for the first time here. Nice ice hockey field and atmosphere. Lower seats give great view. From the top seats almost couldn’t see the puck at all and the view might be blocked by railings and stairs.
this arena is old but gold! Amazing atmosphere. fun environment. We were here for the Calgary hitman, Regina Pats game. and the next day we were here for the Calgary wranglers game. amazing food options though a bit expensive.
1sy time going there; Went there for Micheal Bubble concert. Big venue with great audio set up, I would definitely come back here for another concert. Beer was really good but snacks tasted old, that's why the 4 stars.
Well layed out arena with lots of drinks and food easily accessible. We saw Shania Twain here and after talking to some locals apparently the acoustics aren't great here. Other than that very nice clean comfy arena.
Went there for Iron Maiden show. Loved the show but the venue not so much. Well it is not bad, don’t get me wrong. Only thing I didn’t like about it was how hard it was to find my seat. The show 5/5 & the venue 4/5
It's iconic, what can I say? Hope the new place puts cupholders in the seats, purse hooks in the toilets, and dirty secrets in every corner, but it'll never quite have the weird saddle-shaped charm of the old gal.
Opening in 1983 and the venue for rhe Ice Hockey and Figure Skating events in the 1988 Olympics, as I learned from the Calgary Tower tour. I just did a quick drive by to check out the outside since it was closed.
Me personally i do not like the flames and the arena does NOT EVEN HAVE UNDER GROUND PARKING. The fire things on the ceiling are very hot. Very dust food. Rogers Place Sports Net Lounge is WAY BETTER.
Great place to see a Hockey game, I'd reccomend getting to the arena an hour early to avoid the parking congestion, also don't go to the bathrooms during intermission as there's always long line ups
We gotta give a big shout out to Charm and Julie in the Box Office for their wonderful assistance. We got last minute tickets for the 50 Cent concert and they were great! Thanks for your help …
Well priced food & drinks when comparing to other live sports stadiums. Structure of building is dated, but does the job. Regardless the people of Calgary are looking forward to their new arena.
Great arena! I'm from the States and when I'm in Calgary, I always try to catch a Flames game and even though I buy nose bleed seats (Press Level) the view is fantastic. Truly great venue!
Had my very first NHL game experience in here and it was very fun and awesome, glad i got to watch the flames game and have it as my first NHL game experience. I love hockey after all!!!
Came to watch the opening game of the flames for the 2024 season. The energy in this stadium is palpable, and they put on one heck of a show. Makes the value of a ticket well worth it!
As a person who Is a decent height (6'2") I found it impossible to fit in the seats in the lower bowl. Good concert, but could work on the soundsystem a little bit. Definitely outdated
I enjoy the experience, energy, and vibes BUT this arena needs an upgrade. If you can't build new then start updating what's there... beer was good, though, especially on Happy Hour!!
I like the dome because the people are pretty nice, and Calgary has great concerts. Saw Tool there recently and it was an amazing event. Lots of security and a great atmosphere.
Amazing stadium. Old but brilliant. Soft seats. Not like football stadiums. Plenty of food and drink on offer. Pricey though right enough. Amazing night out to see the Flames
Awesome entertainment and a hockey game too Nachos are the best. Stepped up entertaining is great. Visiting the greatest outdoor show on earth the stampede this time a round
FABULOUS I had no idea the Telus Club buffet was there until tonight! I loved having dinner at the venue before the show and thoroughly enjoyed seeing #JOKOY there❣️ …
The saddledome was large and had plenty of room. It was well-maintained and sufficient to hold a large crowd. There were big screens for close ups and washroom facilities.
Watched the Calgary Flames vs Winnipeg Jets preseason game. It was a nice experience, ticket price was reasonable. Food was great as well. Overall great experience!
Watched Michael Buble concert in here and other great artist as well. You have to be early though so you can get good parking. Awesome home of Calgary stampede
I absolutely love coming here to watch the flames, hitmen, wranglers, roughnecks play! Staff is always so friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is amazing
It’s my home away from home but damn we need a new arena. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 20 years now and the concourse sucks to have to walk through.
Great facility. I was surprised to see on Google maps that the saddle dome is circular! All this time I thought it was oval shaped! Helpful staff.
Went to my first hockey game this year and I enjoyed it saddledome is a great place and it's pricey but worth it to watch games or anything.
Best place ever just stamped was over crowded this year in 2023 had to wait like 1 hour for rides could do better in organizing the fair
Incredible experience to watch my first hockey game. The food and drinks are a bit pricey but the arena and the energy feels awesome
Visited to cheer on the Kraken against the Flames. Fun experience! Fans very friendly. Stadium fun to explore. Easy to get to.
Had so many good experiences herein the past 10 yrs. Can't see how anyone can complain about attending an event here.
I like this venue for concerts. I do not like people enough to be so close to the stage again...lol. Lesson learned.
The oldest NHL stadium. Lots of good memories including the flames 2003-04 cup run. But it is time for her to go.
Very good place to watch fireworks for the stampede you'll need some chairs to sit on the grass …
Great memories of going to the Dome. Over the years from concerts to hockey games. Always have a fun time.
Canucks NHL/AHL have won both games I’ve seen this year and I thank the Saddledome for hosting!!
