Seleny is pleasant and very professional, her husband on the other hand is very rude and unprofessional. Twice I've had to come and Im told they cant take my appointment. Today I booked on booksy a 730pm appointment, the only one available. I walk into shop for him to tell me he called me more than once to cancel because they dont take same day appointments. Then why do you have booksy set to do that? If you noticed I had appt why not cancel on app and explain?? Instead he chooses to got on rant about how he called to tell me and I didnt pickup.. showed him my call log that no call came in, if that didn't work send a msg on text or booksy and let me know? He lies about last appt he called me 45times?? Like really you cant even lie straight?? Who has time to call 45times?? He needs to work on his communication skills he will cost Seleny good paying customers. I've had color n cut and everytime he always exaggerating on something, wait time, cost of service. Last time he said color was expensive, he must have looked at my black self and thought I couldnt afford it. Paid that and still tipped Seleny!!!! Im never going back. Seleny get rid of that rude husband of yours and your place will be amazing! Update: You see how you see black and assume "ghetto" "uneducated". And trust me, I have had this same hair style for years and getting a stylist has and will never be an issue!! You are obnoxiously rude and yes you will get that side of me if you constantly change/cancel appointments....never keep time and also feel you are right and not the customer!!!

I have so many amazing things to say about this place! This establishment is more than a beauty salon, they definitely treat you like family and Seleny and her husband really go out of their way to make sure you get the best top notch service. I came in last minute on a Sunday afternoon. I had someone else do my hair and I desperately needed my hair to get fixed. Even though it was going to be a lot of work and time, Seleny and her husband didn’t turn me away. They worked with me patiently and impressed me on the makeover Seleny gave me. This girl really knows her stuff and her worked impressed me so much I believe she needs way more recognition. I usually don’t give reviews but I believe this place deserves a 10 star for the amazing customer service and work that they do. I left this place more than satisfied, I have received so many nice compliments on my hair and it’s all thanks to Seleny and her husband working with me. Please, don’t be afraid to try this place out, you will have NO regrets.

WOW! Great value and a very high quality haircut (and I say this as someone who is very picky about my haircuts). I actually live in another state but often travel to Indianapolis for business and on my last trip I needed a haircut. I was referred to Seleny's Hair & Beauty by another happy customer. When I entered, I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the shop because I've been to many shops and cleanliness is something usually lacking in many barbershops. The owners were extremely pleasant and welcoming and made me feel like a valued customer while I waited for my haircut. After a short wait, Seleny came and gave me the best haircut I've ever had, I only wish they had their business where I live so I could go to them regularly. By the way, I saw an earlier negative review and I can't help but assume it was nothing but a smear and an attempt to hurt the business because I saw nothing like what was described in the earlier negative review.

Seleny and her husband Renee are the best in the hair care business. I started going to Seleny last year. She has made my hair very healthy and it's growing longer than ever. Seleny takes her time with you. No rush at all. Any time I need to come in she accommodates me. And any time that I need to cancel she is very understanding. She isn't there just to do your hair. She actually genuinely cares about you as a person. Her work is the greatest. Her salon offers any type of hair or style and Seleny can master it. A little pricey but very very worth it, especially given the time taken, Seleny and her husband were amazing! They got me in the same day as a walk in for a perm and we didn’t finish until midnight, they could have turned me away but they didn’t, they welcomed me in and didn’t stop until I was satisfied. Seleny is hands down amazing at what she does, they were such fun outgoing and sweet people. I definitely recommend them! I will NEVER go anywhere else but here for now on! Perfection. Every time. I’ve not been able to say that about any other barber in my life. They specifically know men’s hair VERY well. Super pleasant people who value their trade and every customer experience. The people who left bad reviews here are people who refuse to own their own ridiculous actions and were intentionally trying to hurt this business. There are skanks like that, with bent minds everywhere. Go and see what a skilled barber and stylist Rene is. Go there - take your whole family there. You and they will walk out of there looking like a million new dollars. She’s also quite fast, which is unusual. Check out their new location in the now-revitalized Southern Plaza. Several great new stores going in, lots are being resurfaced - much easier to get in and out at this location.

I went here because I bank next to the hair salon and I thought I would give it a try. I did have to wait for my turn, even though I had made an appointment. However when it was my turn everyone was so friendly or they were talking about me in Spanish LOL I got a very cute hair cut, and I had had found a picture on the internet and it had like 4 or 5 colors to it, but it looked better than the picture on the internet. So if you want the coolest colors and stylish hair cut I suggest this place. SELENYS. I have posted a picture of my finished look. Thanks so much for all your hard work

The only good barber they had walked out during my sons hair cut. The owner is cheap and doesn’t pay his employees well. A man entered the establishment with a beer while playing dominos with the owner. And lastly the owner did the unthinkable and was talking badly of my nephews hair. This business will be gone soon with the unprofessionalism they are practicing. Although the prices are cheaper you get what you pay for. Go to 123 on Shelby Street a little more expensive but a respectful business.

Apparently Selenys offers a lot of different things. I see them doing a lot perms and hair colors. Because I have a Y chromosome, I do not do the manicure, pedicure, micro-whatevers, etc. But I do demand a top quality haircut, beard and eyebrow trim. They do an excellent job. I had the same barber for over a decade, but she moved to Kentucky. I went years trying to find a decent haircut, a consistent cut. Seleny is top notch. Highly recommend. And I like the people there.

I’ve been coming to Seleney’s since they first open their salon. From the beginning I’ve received the upmost respect and services from the hair stylist. She to talented for her own good. The energy in the store is very homey and keeps me coming back. I done received more than one service at this location and will always continue to get service at this location. I’ve gotten different hair cuts and coloring done throughout the past 2 years with them and each time I feel like Seleny does a better job. I highly recommend this place they make you feel so comfortable and the service is awesome. My daughter had an appointment to get her hair dyed for prom and the place ended up canceling on us so we came here. they treated us with so much respect got us in so that my daughter could feel comfortable on her prom day. My daughter was so happy with the results and next we're going to get her hair highlighted.

So they lied about the cost of the hair cut and dye. Then when I finally got into a chair, I said I didn't want the more expensive treatment they still charged me over 100$ and let a man do my hair and he dyed my hair the completely wrong color. I wanted deep purple and I got brown black. Nothing special about the cut, the dye was a simple color and he was rough with my head.

This business is absolutely perfect, I have no complaints what so ever. The quality is perfect, Seleny gave me exactly what I asked for and everybody in there offered great hospitality. I would definitely recommend, they offer and serve coffee at your convenience. They greet you at your entrance and you leave smiling, wanting to come back for sure.

Couldn't have been happier with the service I received! I needed color correction from years of box dying my hair. Also needed help covering my gray hair. They did an amazing job. Excellent customer service. I will definitely be coming here from now on. Highly recommend!!!

Top notch & I’m very picky. They cut my hair and both my sons. Always very kind and there is a big screen for the kids to watch tv when waiting. Wife also was able to get her nails done. Overall I couldn’t be happier with their talented team.

Went in yesterday for a haircut for my baby brother and me, the lady there definitely lined him up right. My hair was pretty rough, she took her time to untangle my severely split ends and have me a really cute cut. Definitely recommend.
