From the moment that you walk into this place you feel very comfortable and warmly welcomed! Which is by far THE MOST important factor for me ALWAYS. Each and EVERY staff member are very much in touch with their own light, vibration and frequency and so you feel very at ease to be yourself & enjoy your time there. The coffee is beautiful, my favourite is the coconut latte I go to many restaurants and cafes & unlike the majority, this placs have truly nailed the balance of good food/drink & the customer service. Which is a huge accomplishment in my opinion!!! You can tell this is family run Because they genuinely give a damn about your experience there on the whole. Breath of fresh air! I love the garden area & how the bathroom is decorated it's cute & You must try their home made pastries you will thank me later :)

Shocking experience. We waited 50+ minutes for a wrap and two sides while the venue was not even that busy. As we tried to patiently wait other patrons who had arrived over half an hour later than us were getting their dishes served promptly. We eventually became increasingly agitated and no staff member made any attempt to check with us over what was nearly an hour of us sitting there with nothing on our table. Eventually we gave up and decided to leave. I explained to the POS staff what had happened. They gave no attempt to rectify the situation, made absolutely no attempt at an apology, and charged us for our coffees. I have no problem paying for the coffee as we did receive those, however considering we didn't even get an apology, explanation or an attempted solution from the staff, it would've been nice if they waved the fee on those. Staff members here are clearly lacking character, experience, and manners. Thanks for wasting our new years day!
Good cafe serving good food with friendly staff. We really enjoyed breakfast and coffee at the Shenkin in Enmore today. The Angelita was delicious. We also got eggs on toast with chorizo. The toast was well toasted and the chorizo were yummy. We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard because it’s a bit quieter. It started to sprinkle shortly after we got our food, the staff were happy to help us move to another table under shelter when we raised it. They are very busy but tables turn around quickly so it’s worth a try if you’re in the area.

UpDATED, 5 stars form my initial review is too many. Excellent service. Had shakshuka ( without beans, which is the traditional way - I prefer beans but never mind), Encore Rd is not a healthy spot to sit but traffic is light at 11 am. SO, this is Not my favourite recipe. Its mostly tomato with 2 eggs on top. I last had shakshuka in Robina, near the Gold Coast: spicy tomato base with legumes, a bit of ckorizo, some herbs/spices same as here Id say, with poached eggs sitting on top and still slightly runny and sprinkled with feta. But if just tomato, capsicum herbs/ spices is your preference then you should like this. I should repeat, I'm just stating my preference. And, again, great customer service. Price is pretty much the same. Would I return for shakshuka? Sorry, but no.

I recently visited Cafe Shenkin in Enmore and was blown away by the delicious muesli bowl I had there. The ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented, and the combination of flavors was simply divine. The service was top-notch as well, with the staff being friendly and attentive. But what really set Cafe Shenkin apart for me was the atmosphere. The cafe has a warm and welcoming vibe, and it's the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch. Whether you're in the mood for a quick caffeine fix or a more leisurely meal, Cafe Shenkin has something for everyone. Overall, I highly recommend Cafe Shenkin for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience in Enmore. The food is amazing, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu!
About halfway through the "chicken spears", my palate fell asleep. We expected great things based on other reviews but most of the meal was completely flavourless. I was curious what an "Israeli salad" was - apparently it's a couple of pieces of lettuce with a teaspoonful of diced tomato. The hummus was only slightly less appealing than the one we get at IGA, but at $20 (and charging us extra for more bread) it was certainly more expensive. The brussel sprouts and cauliflower were the least bad, but obviously reheated and therefore soggy and slightly burnt. The staff were lovely and attentive and even brought blankets for cold diners after we were seated outside in the half-full restaurant because they gave away our reservation despite us calling to let them know we were running late.
Shenkin is incredible! if you want to try something different for breakfast that is healthy and tastes amazing you can't go wrong here. the Angelita, subit, shakshuka and Malawich (i probably totally messed up the spelling but these are my favourite dishes here) are all absolutely delicious. This place really is a hidden gem, i discovered it by accident and have since been back multiple times and bought my partner and son. I want to take my mum next time as she loves this sort of food. highly recommend them, the service is awesome too the owners are family and really put in the extra effort to make you feel welcome. oh and the coffee is up there with the best!

Used to love dining here regularly but it’s gone massively downhill and won’t return again. Today it wasn’t very busy when we arrived and our orders were taken within 5-10 minutes of sitting down. 40+ minutes later the waitress came back to advise that one of our meals was now out of stock.. she avoided answering if they had even started making our meals.. another 15 minutes wait later, the substitute meal was gross. The menus has reduced, the sides sauces/dips that were the draw card are gone and the wait times are ridiculous. Overpriced also ($100 brunch for 3 people). So many other better cafes in Enmore/Newtown.

I’ve been to shenkin a few times now and normally enjoy the food. However I was there last week with my family and it was a disgusting experience I’d say. As soon as we got our table we noticed some cockroaches on the wall behind me. We let the staff know.. they got it with some tissue but it wasn’t just that one. By the time we finished dinner they were on the table too, was really gross. They offered us a desert on the house for the inconvenience but the overall experience was really bad. I was also really embarrassed because I took family there for dinner who were visiting from overseas. Just a terrible experience. Don’t think I am ever stepping in their again
I ordered the labneh bowl for $18.50 thinking it should be a pretty big meal. It wasn’t. The food was nice but 70% of the whole meal was some kind of yoghurt… the description of the labneh bowl didn’t even mention any yoghurt… why so much yoghurt?? Still very hungry after eating this meal and now I need to go order more food…. ♂️ Edit - ok thanks for that information. It still doesn’t explain why there’s so much yoghurt. What is the $18.50 for? Let’s break it down shall we? 70% of the meal is yoghurt. 4 half slices of tomato. 6 small pieces of eggplant. 1 pita bread. 2 falafel. $18.50. Still not making sense is it?
One of the most disappointing breakfasts I’ve experienced on the Enmore strip. The cafe was only moderately busy, yet after 10 minutes I had to request menus for my friend and I. Then had to queue at the takeaway area to place our order after a further 10 minutes. We both had the waffles and whilst they were presented well, they were definitely not homemade or fresh. When you are being charged $20.00 per meal, you at least expect them to be fresh! The service and the food was such a let down. In fact, the only positive was the air conditioning. Needless to say, will be not returning and will be warning my friends too.
Cozy cafe in the heart of Newtown. I love how the staff talked to me and asked if was my first time and gave me a warm welcome. I was after their famous shakshuka which was worth it! The coffee tastes great and the latte art is a work of art. From the start of their customer service to the finish-they made me feel at home. I definitely will come back to this place. Keep it up! :)

I had so great food in this area. I did not expect that much but it was awesome. i was just starving and trying to eat some breakfast. It was rainning and bit dark outside. So i just tried to find quiet and good food place. But i could not find. So i just went here Cuz there is slow music coming. I am a vegetarian so I ordered omeletta and fresh juice. I got them in 7min and eat them all in 5min.... was amazing cooked vegetables and beautiful platting. Yummy beetroot ralish too. I am willing to come here again even if i live far from here
Absolutely horrible and rude service. I walked in and kindly asked if there were any tables at the back and was advised by a short French waitress that it was all full. I patiently waited for a table and saw people walk past and sit down at the recently vacated tables. I went to speak to the guys behind the counter and was ignored! Finally being acknowledged I was told to continue waiting. So it seems the policy and your best shot to get a table is to simply be rude and barge in ahead of everyone because the staff actually don’t care!
Love the chain. First had it in Surry Hills and it was really good. This one we discovered as we are in the area and there is a lot of seats at the back through a narrow lane. It was raining but they clear the table and the seats for us under the canopy at the back and we can sit in pretty quickly. The coffee was good and pretty strong. Shakashuka is good as usual but the falafel plate is a bit bland this time however. The falafel is too soft and tasted undercooked somehow. Maybe just once off. Will check out again next time
Lovely place, great atmosphere. I keep going back to this place not only because I live close by but also because I really like this place. Firstly, the coffee is amazing. The chai is good but nothing special - I think they use a syrup. So rather go for the coffee, it’s delicious. The food ticks multiple boxes: looks great, is tasty and has something special about it. Never had pancakes like these before! Staff is incredibly friendly, the music is lovely, and furniture and interior are stylish. Can’t ask for more!
A friend who is a local took myself and my partner to Shenkin for breakfast on a Thursday morning. We sat out the back which was lovely and quiet so good for a chat/catch up. Customer service was very friendly and attentive, good coffee and nice decor but it was the food that was really impressive. The shakshuka and Angelita were both delicious and a good size. Really great to see interesting menu items and vegetarian friendly food. Would definitely return.

One of the few places open early on a Sunday for an actual breakfast. Has a rustic kitchen interior, without being tacky of cluttered. Staff were very friendly, food come out quickly. Order was essentially scrambled eggs of avocado on toast. Initially looks unassuming, but both the quantity and the quality of the meal was a great surprise. The eggs were creamy and not watery, the avocado perfectly seasoned and the big piece of bread only just held together until the last bite. The coffee, small but strong.
The food is always so good at Shenkin. The staff are very friendly but maybe a little disorganised. Their coffee is delish, and the cute server who remembered us from our last visit was also a plus haha Will always suggest shenkin as a place to catch up friends!

I used to go to Shenkin when they were located in Randwick. Unfortunately, that store closed a few years ago. I've been temporarily staying in the Newtown area hence I've been going to the Enmore Shenkin regularly. The menu's changed but the quality hasn't. The food and coffee here are fantastic! Their shakshuka is the best in Sydney period! The staff are friendly and alway greet you with a smile. Definitely worth a visit if you're in looking for a great cafe in the Newtown/Enmore area.
Didn’t have to wait too long for a table. There was a group of us. They did screw up the coffees which was a little annoying but we got there in the end. Food was great. Nothing stood out however for something which is supposed to be a “Israeli” concept. It’s was just the normal breakfast basics with a “middle eastern” flare or two.. But it was “fresh” and quick which was good to see. I would come back. It’s a good local and good spot to be local with a cute outdoor area in the back.
Absolutely shocking service. Took over half hour to get our food and coffees. The second order of coffee was lost in the ether and we had to ask 3 times until we got it. The menu has changed and no where near as tasty as what it was a year ago. The premises didn’t seem clean and the way the waitress mopped up a spill before we arrive was so sloppy. Totally a waste of money tbh. I wish we had gone with our initial instincts and left upon arrival. It actually deserves no stars.
Have been coming back to this cafe quite often because not only is this a cute spot but the food and service here is incredible. The music is a vibe and the coffee is amazing here. It’s in a nice area in Enmore and I will continue to be coming back here. Can’t miss it!

Love the pastry dish that comes with a range of dips and a boiled egg (can't remember what it's called). The coffee is usually good. I was particularly impressed by the attentive customer service I recieved yesterday. after giving some feedback on a coffee, the gentleman was quick to apologise and went above and beyond to rectify the issue and took on the feedback given. Will definitely continue to come here!
Reliable service and delicious food. Shenkin Eateries are popping up all over the place and you can see why. The Israeli cuisine is delicious and suitable for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I've visited the Erskinville cafe a few times and the service has always been friendly and efficient. It edges more on the casual side but still comfortable for a variety of dining occasions. Recommended!

I really like this place, specially the savoury option. However, this morning I had a croissant and it was burnt and dry...The worst part is that I actually chose the one that looked better...all the others were definitely burnt...I still like the place, just putting it out there for the staff to rethink maybe throwing away whatever food is not at its best for selling?
Great food, incredible service, and family owned. Not only are you treating yourself by fueling up with incredible flavors from this menu you're also supporting local. The service was timely, attentive, and warm. Food is great on its own by making one feel comforted but the hospitality was what made this place make me wish it were my home. Sooo good. Must try!
We went here for brunch this week. I had the Israeli breakfast with poached eggs. When it arrived, the eggs were rock solid, as were the eggs in my friends' meals. I asked if they could be replaced, and was given replacement eggs that were essentially raw - the rest of my breakfast was covered in uncooked egg snot. Kinda felt like a f-you from the kitchen.
The chai was terrible and when I asked for it to be rebrewed it’s came back just as terrible and the milk was at room temperature. The food was ok but the waiter had an attitude when serving since I had given feedback on the chai.. don’t appreciate that kind of attitude, don’t work in hospo if you can’t handle some feedback and I wasn’t even being nasty.

Had a great breakfast and tea. Served by friendly faces. Food came really quick. Was aroubd 25$ for the tea and eggs. Minus one star for the eggs being a little undercooked for my liking and I asked for table water and it never came. I would come back though as the food was really good. Now I've been back a few times and I really love this place.

So glad that we popped in to Shenkin for a quick bite before a show at Enmore Theatre. Staff were delightful, service was fast and the food was absolutely scrumptious and rather generous. We shared two dishes: the popcorn calamari and the lamb. So impressed. BYO with a bottle shop just across the road...too easy. Love it, we will be back.
Soy FW - milk far too hot especially for soy, coffee bitter and burnt. I thought about asking for a remake but it wouldn't be worth waiting for just to be mildly better. I am so happy to pay for good coffee, but why does bad coffee cost the same amount?

This place has an amazing cozy atmosohere. The food is delightful, vibrant, and delicious. I loved sitting outside in the courtyard with my friends. The interior was amazing as well, with a great warm cafe asethetic which makes you feel right at home. The coffee itself is probably my favorite in Sydney.

Friendly staff but felafel was really bad. Not a shade on the shenkin felafel I used to get I. Erskinville. Far be it for me to say Israelis can’t make felafel but I suspect it is not made by Israelis at this shenkin. Wry salty and over cooked
I had a latte and the shakshuka, both very nice. The bread that came with the shakshuka was warm and soft and really added to the enjoyment of the dish. The service was attentive and friendly. Will definitely return to try their other dishes.
Worst experience. Thought this place would be great based on other reviews but was very wrong. Despite making a reservation, we were given a table outside in the cold when there were many (unreserved) seats inside. We were going to get a 3
Amazing! I was recently in Sydney for a Hen's party and we had a High Tea reservation at Suhdana on the Sunday Morning; the last activity for the weekend before we all trekked home. After they told us they forgot our booking and refused to

We had a delicious breakfast, honestly the best I've had! Try the Angelina, you won't be disappointed. The staff are so helpful and friendly, especially Yaar, who really impressed us with his customer service!
Shenkin is one of the better/more popular cafes along Enmore Road. It is part of a family owned chain The food is good, with a Jewish/Israeli slant but not overstated. Non kocher items are common on the menu.
Great service, quality food and coffee. A great selection of breakfast and lunch offerings from quick and easy to a good share meal. Atmosphere with the rustic decoration and background music is very pleasing.
Good quality coffee! A must try if in the Enmore/Newtown area. They only have outdoor dining at the moment due to Covid. If you are looking to dine in, be wary that there is only 3 small tables available.
Always consistently delicous food and quality coffee. Enmore our favourite but Erskinville also top of the list for larger groups. Highly recommended if you're after a different breakfast/lunch/snack.

I have been to Shenkin Kitchen quiet a few times and have never been disappointed there. In my last visit I had the Maverick Waffles and they were great. Recommend to give a try.
Very cosy and friendly. Food was very very fresh. Got to love their homemade bread. I had the Israeli Big Breakfast. Flavour wise it could do with more middle eastern flavours.
Awesome coffee and cheese cake All Staff are great, helpful and friendly The area out back adds some thing different and is great place to talk Covid handling rating- 4 of 5

Food was amazing and unique! Loved the Sabih. I could eat it all day, every day!! The pita bread that came with the Shakshuka was so soft, floury and delicate! Amazing!
Good food, good people and the pizza burekas is the best for a snack next to your coffee

We had dinner for two. Ordered the Zucchini Sushi, Crispy Cauliflower and Veggie Burekas. Delicious and wholesome food. However there are limited space and tables.
Excellent coffee, great food, the best falafel in the world & friendly, smiley, courteous staff. Always a pleasure to be here. It’s our favourite cafe in Enmore.
Excellent Middle East dishes, beautifully presented.

A superb cafe. Great menu consistently made. Wonderful coffee and lovely staff. You must try the falafel wrap or chicken schnitzel wrap...the best in Sydney!
Fantastic spot for brunch with an Israeli twist. Everything was delicious. Of note were the filo pastry rolls with various dips. We will definitely be back!
Nice coffee, nice breakfast and great (friendly) service. The best breakfast that I've had all day!
