I love this memorial, as an aviator. This is a piece of history however, since they upgraded the airport, they have made it very very difficult to access this site. They need to make a second parking lot around the corner so people can access this place. hardly anyone knows that it’s here it’s a travesty. More

Well worth a visit to see the plane "Smithy" and his crew made history in many years ago. The place is usually pretty quiet, and you can park here without limits if you are waiting for a flight to land. It can trickier to get to these days,

It is a memorial so do not expect there is much to see. It is convenient for people who need to wait and pick up somebody from the airport, but do not want to spend on the expensive airport parking. There are around 10 free parking lots in

Great little memorial worth visiting for free. Interesting things about "Smithys" first flight which happened to be the first Trans-Pacific Flight all those years ago. Also home to the 2020 time capsule from Brisbane Airports New Runway,

Good place to cool down while waiting for international pick up. Few historical items and airplane, good for a quick family visit. There's space for picnic if that's you're after too. 2 Hours parking limit, wheelchair friendly. More

Amazing to see this plane and realise all that Smithy and his crew did in the early pioneering days of world flight and all that they went through. More

A lot quieter than the last time I went since the main road has shifted but still a great monument to a brilliant achievement by an amazing Aussie.
