"Great atmosphere and very friendly staff"
Located a short walk from Hiroshima Peace Park and museum, Hachidori-sha is a great asset to the Hiroshima community. Owned and run by Abiko-san who is a peace-activist with strong ties to the Hiroshima community. She hosts regular events which are inclusive and promote social equity. LGBTQ events, talk with A-bomb survivors (also in English) events, workshops, community networking, Yoga and many other events and get togethers are held here. I met Abiko-san years ago when she organized the LOOK UP event held on the T-juncture of the bridge north of the A-bomb dome which was used to target the city by the American pilots who bombed the city in 1945. The Hachidori-sha staff are also involved in preservation discussions for Hiroshima heritage buildings which survived the Atomic blast. At the cafe, you can find information about all sorts of events happening in Hiroshima, local artists sell their handmade designs, and there are locally sourced foods and drinks available. There are efforts in the cafe to also reduce waste and most items will be sold and served in reusable containers. There is a bilingual menu as well as friendly bilingual staff who are interesting to talk to.
was really excited to go to this cafe because I love cafes, books and yoga, but I must have been unlucky. When I came in, they were doing a photoshoot and I was the only customer. Which would be fine, but they acted as if I was a nuisance, and after I gave them my order they continued doing the photoshoot for 5 minutes or so without starting on my order! This was also after being very tired and hungry from walking around all day. No apologies and very standoff ish. Note that I didn't complain at all like the nice person I am, but I would have appreciated a "sorry" or "please wait while we finish our photoshoot". Pretty bad experience and service except for the friendly young girl.
We came across an advertisement to this café from the hostel we were staying at, it interested us because they advertised informal conversation opportunity with survivors of the A-bomb, we were honoured to have the opportunity to speak with Koji Toyooka, 87 years old. The staff at the café provided amazing assistance in facilitating this experience, which was complemented by a great menu and vegetarian choices. The atmosphere of the café was peaceful, calming. The distance wasn't too far away from central area, easy to walk and navigate. Thank you very much!
Great little cafe just a block away from the peace park. Good food and drinks, very cozy atmosphere. They host a chance to chat with A-bomb survivors 3 days a month. It's an incredible experience that you should really do if you have the chance. Check their website for details. They also host documentaries and discussion about all kinds of topics. A great place with a great mission. Go here to support a great effort instead of dome generic tourist trap restaurant! Second floor, they accept credit cards for purchases over 2,000 yen.
Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. A wide range of alcohol is available at the bar. There is also an area to sit away from the bar for children, which is very unique as this bar/cafe has something for people of all ages. Weekly specials are served at their book cafes. People of all different backgrounds come to the cafe and it is a very good place to meet new people. If you are looking to work on improving your English or Japanese this is also a great place as many bilingual people visit this cafe.
I truly recommend this place. This is so peaceful, everybody feels welcome and the atmosphere is warm and chill. I tried the bagel with cheese and marmelade and it was delicious. The owner is super nice. It's a great adresse for vegetarians, people who work from home or for those who are interested in social and environmental issues. It's in my top 5 of the coffee places I've been to in Japan <3

The café is very welcoming. Erika, the owner, is very helpful and there are plenty of resources on Hiroshima, especially regarding the issues surrounding the nuclear age. The café's food is delicious - I am a vegetarian and was very happy with some scrambled eggs and the bagels are good too. Erika even showed me how to make Matcha. I really enjoyed my time here and it's worth seeking out - it's a short walk from the memorial park.
A super friendly space, we came to participate in a talk with an Abomb survivor and had an amazing time. It was such a welcoming place and it was easy to make conversation and connect with others. I wish that we had come earlier because we didn't have enough time to stay for a meal, but all of the ones we saw going out looked good.

Very cozy and quiet place. With english speaking and wholesome staff. The food was abit expensive, but very tasty (i recommend the curry) All in all a nice experience

Very peaceful cafe with good food about a 5 minute walk from the peace park. I haven't checked out their events yet, but they seem to offer socially progressive activities and discussions.
THIS PLACE RULES My goodness, such an incredible spot, great coffee, amazing books, vibes, and community organizing. They host talks, artists, movies, etc. great people and atmosphere
Food is simple but surprisingly very good. Love the noodle in miso soup. Also got to talk to A-bomb survivor, listening to their experience.
artsy-craftsy/ good for relaxing and try the japanese " KOTATU "? staff was so kind-hearted .
Erika is peace. Excellent place to make friends for peace. Good food and conversation.
