The hunt for a decent fish and chip shop in Somerville continues.. .. Should've walked out when we were left to stand there whilst the young boy and grumpy woman acted as if we were invisible, but then I wouldn't have known how bad the food actually was. Chips undercooked, soggy and with no salt (how does that even happen??). Bacon in batter the same and so full of oil the batter practically slid off. Souvlakis full of fat, flavourless meat with oil soaking the bread and 3 scraps of soggy lettuce. Plus asked for no tomato in mine, which I guess was missed as the young guy was busy talking with the grumpy woman when we were ordering. Old guy working there seemed nice. Shame, as we won't be back.

Mushy tasteless food. No lemon wedges and tar tar sauce provided. I think in these modern times these items are expected when ordering seafood. While portion sizes are great, upon receiving my food, all the battered items ( fish, seafood sticks & scallops ) were soggy and in my view inedible, in fact not even the chips were crispy. The burger was “ok” but the burger bun had that “on the way to” stale taste and feel to it, definitely not fresh. Yes I ate the food due to being hungry, if I had another choice of food at the time though I would have chosen something else. Will I order from here again, doubtful.

Ordered via Menulog and was very impressed by the freshness of the ingredients and generously sized portions. If only the souvlaki had a bit more (of that smoky/garlic) flavour, and if they put seasoning on the chips, because it did taste a little bland. Not a big deal if ordering from home as you can easily garnish your food to taste, but would have been an easy 5 star rating.

Nothing better than an old-school fish-n-chip shop. Happy to drive for better customer service & old school service, quality food and order chips by the dollar amounts. The food was yummy. Just sad they didn't have gravy tubs, but the garlic sauce was a good fit. Thanks for the cheese on the chips. Oh and they didn't stuff the order like other local F&C shops

Very dissappointed shameful at the least...a souvlaki should contain the meat that is mentioned..so if its a lamb souvlaki, then there should b lamb in it. And not 3 pieces of fat with no taste..i jus had the worst souvlaki ever, jus lettuce and maybe a whole onion with 2 thin small pieces of tomatoes..this place was good once..im fuming, if times r tuff, dont take it out on customers....

First time at this fish and chips shop, and it won't be my last. Everything from the fish, chips and potato cakes. This place is better than my local in Mornington and that's a big call for me. The lady cooking was great to talk to and she definitely new what she was doing. No photos sorry, ate it all as it was soooo good.

The worst service, customers ordered after me and received there order first. Then was told not enough fish I ordered when order was done, I waited for an alternative fish and received a sloppy half cooked piece of fish. I would advise another shop. I will never go there again.

I'm sorry to say this was the worst fish and chips I've ever had. I never write reviews but this is granted. The Lamb souvlaki was terrible, there was oil leaking through the pita. The fish was soggy and really greasy. The chips were average at best. Clean your fryers it really makes a difference. Won't be back ever again.

Crumbed fish was paper thin, dry, and burnt to a crisp Calamari rings were fake calamari and tasted like chicken nuggets Chips were oily and soggy, not cooked long enough Very disappointed and sorry to say we won't be going back there again as it was mostly thrown in the bin and a waste of money

I wrote a negative review earlier and now realise that this is the wrong fish and chip shop, I wrote the negative review on the one down the road, Somerville fish and chip shop is actually my favourite fish and chip shop and love the friendly young staff and all their food.

Food quality is okay and can't really complain, but after many visits over a year it has become apparent to me the service is clearly lacking. Generally under quoting collect times by a fair amount and not calling out when meals are complete until several minutes later.

Best fish and chips around, the flake is amazing! Especially the grilled crumbed flake.

Can't ask for much more. Ordered fish and chips, received fish and chips. Ready when I was told they would be ready and the pricing seemed very reasonable. Chips were probabaly above average, so I will go back there.

Waited over an hour for Uber eats from here. Then got a call to say shop is shut. Same has happened from door dash. Have ordered and been missing parts of our order at least 5 times. Had enough.

Called to order a family pack - told it includes 5 pieces of fish, potato cakes and dim sims. Get home, only 4 pieces of fish and won't answer calls at 7.50pm. Pretty disappointing!

Good to see this place has picked up in recent times. Good freshly battered fish grt taste. Only disappointment calamari isn't real couldn't be that hard to get that extra star.

Ordered one in of their packs for 2 and a hamburger. Everything was as it should be. Great food and great service.

Worst fish and chips in the area. Scallops, potato cakes and chips all soggy and yuck! Souvlaki also soggy and oily bread, dry horrible meat. WILL NOT GO BACK

So disappointing. The chicken in the souvlaki was so fatty & sections were still cold. The chips were under cooked and soggy. Such a waste of money.

More often than not I have found the fried flake undercooked with the batter still doughy yet the dim sims fried too well. Hope this assists.

Tried a lot of F&C shops around Somerville & Tyabb. This is now our favourite. Food is delicious and the service is great.
