We live in Mt Eliza and simply want to try some different Thai food. My husband took me here because the reviews so it seems really good. I was really disappointed as I am Thai and this is the worse Thai food I ever have. It full of sugar syrup and no taste other than sugary food. Feel like having a desserts. My husband ordered padthai the come out with super sugary source almost feel like tomato sauce. No veggies no other taste apart from sweet and way way to sugary. My meal was even worse. Nam Sod and nothing is about this menu is cooked properly. We wont come back here again. The service was average. But I feel sorry for people who overpaid this the food that rubbish . Quite intimate how could you call Thai food. I am Thai so my comment was honest and truth.

If I could rate this a 0 I would. So dissatisfied with our experience and the food. We ordered a banquet and to our disappointment there was a long, black hair wrapped around a vegetable and the beef in both of the two dishes was so tough and over cooked, to the point it was not edible. When staff were informed they were not too perturbed and shrugged their shoulders. We told them that they should look over their WHS procedures/ policies, especially in the kitchen as it was not up to standard. Some of the chefs/ kitchen staff had hair noticeably sticking out the sides of their hairnets. The service was disappointing and the staff were quiet rude. Never going back and I would not recommend!

Great food, good size tables, made to feel very welcome upon entry and exiting. However the table service could be improved - so many staff behind the bar or front counter, but not one watching the tables to see if people needed assistance. When out Roti sauce was forgotten, it took 5 minutes to get their attention, that we had to get up to go and see 1 of the 6 staff there.

Time and time again we call and it's an hour plus wait for takeaway. So we adjust at our end and order at 5pm Saturday night. Pick up in half hour they say. We arrive at 5.40pm as we know they are NEVER on time! As usual were left sitting there waiting until 6.05pm!! Frustrating is an understatement! Somerville Thai your service is an absolute JOKE!! We could ring at 7am, order for pick up at 6pm and you'd still find a way to stuff things up and have us waiting another half hour extra. If you want quality without the wait head to Chilli N Lime in bittern where you won't get stuffed around like you do at Somerville Thai

Was not impressed. Have had a lot of thai in my time and Tom yum was too sweet and had the flavour of sweet chilli sauce. The prawns were nice but yet again had to dunk my prawns in the water glass to take the sauce off them which had again too much sugar in it. I would not go back again. The staff were all Aussies one Thai waiter who was lovely. The decor was like a shopping centre food court environment. They had no Thai decor photos or anything to make you feel as you were in a thai restaurant. Overall it was very bland tasteless and non inviting.

Went for take away, watched several people order after me and leave with their food before me in the 55 minutes I was there waiting for my order. Several tables were served in that time too. After enquiring about the time taken I was told the coconut rice was the hold up. Food was nice but service was appalling, no interaction from staff re hold up until questioned. On hour for take away unacceptable. I will be going to the other Thai place Mai Sai near Woolworths next time. Much better service, food just as good.

We went there on the Melbourne cup day a long weekend for lunch, about 8 people in the group so we ordered plenty of dishes. Thank God it wasn't so busy , food was good the Tom yum was pretty authentic. I like the curry the best. Pad Thai was just alright. Menu is as of Oct 2022

So I ordered takeaway and went to pick it up from the counter, and ended up waiting for 4mins with no acknowledgement from a staff member who was doing something on the computer right in front of me (I was the only one there). She then left and I stood there waiting for another 2 mins before a different staff member came over and asked if Ineeded any help, all the while my takeaway was sitting right ready for me to pick up. Summary: Great food, appalling customer service. It's a shame really!

We thought we would travel away from the usual CBD restaurants to Summerville and a cheeky Thai. We really enjoyed the food which was varied, full of flavour and just enough punch. Service was warm, welcoming and made sure we were likely after. Would come back here again.

Very disappointing. We order regularly from this restaurant. Spent $160 on a takeaway order. Quoted 40 minutes on the phone after ordering. Food was ready 90 minutes later! I’m not sure why there was a delay as the food was cold when we finally got it home. I don’t have an issue waiting for food but don’t quote 40 minutes when the wait time is over double the time quoted. We won’t be back.

If you want fine food, great service and that feel good feeling, do try Somerville Thai! The manager is always on hand to ensure customers are looked after and he has a dedicated team, including my group's favourite rep Emily, who really do enjoy looking after people. The food is flavoursome and they go the extra mile to cater to clients with special dietary needs. If you like Thai and you want to experience the real thing - Somerville Thai is worth the visit!

Service was poor. They barely said a word to us the whole time. We had the red duck curry and the chicken green curry. The duck meat was very dry and tough. The green curry was very oily. Both of us had a bad case of the runs all night after our meals. If we weren't so sick after, we would have given 3 stars. These guys used to be awesome. They have gone downhill since they moved. Give them a miss for now. Try again in a few months.

One of our families regular takeaway joints in Somerville. Great food and timely service. Never stayed to eat in but it looks cozy and has a nice atmosphere when I walk in.

I was told 35 minutes I waited 1 hour! The beef was chewy and over cooked! One of the employees apologised for the wait! The other employee couldn’t care less! I felt your employee’s were RUDE! MOST were playing a game in front of customers of tic tac toe (who answered the phone next!) I think you need new employees! If I could leave 0 stars for tonight’s food I would have. First of all they told us it was going to be a 40 minute wait. At 40 minutes they told my partner another 5 to 10 minutes. 1.5 hours we waited for our food! When we finally got our food home which is only 7 minutes away some of it was warm most of it was cold and to top off the bad experience we found a hair in our food!!! Very disappointed

As seen from other views I believe it can be a little hit or miss. Had the massaman beef, less meat and more fat than I was expecting. Quite a long wait for dine in too, given it sounds usually as busy as it was when we went. The complimentary entree of prawn crackers with the sauce of my ordered curry was quite a nice touch.

People must be extremely easily pleased, I’ve just eaten well I didn’t eat much as it was dreadful, tasteless cold and mainly a plate of uncooked cold vegetables and a minimal amount of chewy chicken. The coconut rice was a bowl of cold glug, when asked how my meal was I told them and they smiled and said OK basically, tell someone that gives a S..T!

Always our go to Thai! #36 Special Chicken is a must. As is Green Curry Chicken & Musaman Beef

Somerville Thai is one of our favourites. The food is great. However we usually prefer to get take away because if you eat in during busy periods, it can be really loud making it difficult to hear the person/people you're there with.

Went with my darling Wife for dinner last night and great service and great food. Good serving sizes and flavours were really great Thai spices. Restaurant got a bit noisy as it filled up with all hard surfaces and could do with some acoustic ceiling tiles. Will definitely be going back, this could be a new favourite.

Easy to park, no queue, seated and even though it was full we were served quickly. Menu was set out well. Food was fantastically delicious. Will go again soon. Excellent experience.

We've been to the Somerville Thai restaurant a few times now and the food is always excellent. The service is great - quick and friendly. If you get sat under the aircon unit just ask to be moved and the staff will happily relocate you. It's just the best restaurant around for miles. Well worth a visit.

Last 2 times at least 2 people out of dining party were crook all night. I'm very intolerant to MSG & it seems they are adding more every time. Have dropped standards from 4-5 years ago, no more chances

Pad satay good as ever, green Thai curry hot but not to hot, disappointed to not see Chang beer on the menu but settled for singha instead. Staff friendly and served on time without hassle. Big size meals sure to fill you up and offer of take home container if required.

Disappointed! This place has gone way down hill from what it used to be... Phone order of 6 chicken satay sticks- received 6 serves!!! That's 18 more satay sticks than needed!

Great spot for some great Thai food. Really friendly staff. Very poor acoustics though and when its busy it's almost impossible to hear the conversation you're trying to have.
