South Eastern Rehab Hospital has definitely gone down hill since being taken over by Aurora. The things I saw and heard, I have no words. Maddie, Rachel, Kathleen, Teagan and Daniel on Boronia Ward were fantastic and always checked in on their patients. Maddie and Kathleen would go the extra mile. Some of the other nurses however could do with a refresher course on patient care. Also, if you have elderly family members go to this hospital, I would suggest finding another one to go to, otherwise make sure you visit often and advocate heavily for them. The Allied Health Team and Doctors tend to have their own agendas. Having a conversation with someone who is off their face on pain killers about a decision that could impact their life forever if you were to get them to sign the dotted line, is disgusting behaviour and staff should know better. Meals were good apart from the fact you were lucky if they were barely luke warm. I could go on about the poor standards practices at this rehab hospital, the 2 stars are just for the few nurses that were great. Also, Word of advice, when talking about patients/ doing handover, etc..., unless in the patients room, these conversations should be held behind a closed door, not out in the hallway, and not at the nurses station thats in the hallway where it had high foot traffic passing through and directly opposite patient's rooms, where people can hear everything being said about each person. The breaches of privacy is astounding.

My father was in this amazing hospital for three months and words cannot adequately express the gratitude we feel to all the staff for the loving care they gave him. The administrators, doctors, nurses, coordinators, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and even the cleaners and caterers were of the highest standard. Everyone went above and beyond in the service of looking after my elderly and frail father and nothing was too hard. The communication and liaising with the family was always promptly facilitated and we were constantly updated with solutions to any medical issues or other matters, which at times may have arisen, concerning my father's well being. I commend South Eastern Private Hospital for having such motivated and exceptionally competent people on their staff, who viewed perhaps an unusual or irregular request as a challenge instead of a chore and went the extra mile to keep the patient and their family happy and satisfied. I was particularly impressed in how the hospital expedited and accommodated everything we asked of them. In my experience brilliant teamwork emanates from brilliant management which trickles down from the very top to the very bottom.Congratulations South Eastern Private Hospital! Our family will be eternally grateful to all of you for your professionalism, patience and the kind assistance you offered to us at such a difficult time. Thank you and well done!

I cannot speak highly enough of this hospital and all of the caring, empathetic, professional staff that I encountered here during my stay here for re-hab after a total hip replacement. All staff were brilliant. Nurses, Lauren, Steph, Meg, Emma, Lang, Tahlia, Therese, Anna & Dhenji just to name a few were always efficient, kind & friendly. I couldn’t ask for a better team. Thank you. The kitchen/hospitality staff were all so kind and accommodating. Nat in the cafe is absolutely wonderful, a very thoughtful caring person. The Physio team were fantastic, keeping things light hearted and upbeat. Physiotherapist Extraordinaire, Vivien has changed my life. After living with chronic pain over the past 30 years, I’ve had to learn how to not only walk on my new hip with confidence, but re-train my brain to learn how to walk properly. None of this would have been possible without the patience, dedication, education and care in which Viv provided me with. Viv is a very talented young lady, and I am absolutely honoured to have been her patient. Thank you all so much. Eternally grateful.

During the covid pandemic I was admitted for rehab following spinal surgery. Upon arriving and settling into my room I noticed people gathering outside of the room window from outside next to mine. Upon asking about it I was told the person in the next room did not have a covid test result yet. Bemused by the fact that he should not have been there without a clear test, I got on with it. Two days later with no adequate venting or purification and terrible PPE display I myself caught covid from the person next door who tested positive. With my heart condition and post surgical weakness I had a massive tachycardic episode. I had to beg to be firstly tested, then to be moved to a competent hospital. I was many hours later transferred to Monash where I was treated wonderfully. No follow-up or apologies from south eastern hospital, till this day I am disgusted and horrified by the multiple risks taken by the hospital with total disregard for other patients including elderly people untertaking rehab, already vulnerable enough.

For me, staff were very friendly and helpful. But that aside, the hospital is run down. I would rate it like an old 3 star hotel. Walls are dented, power points are damaged, leaking taps and toilets, keep in mind this is a private hospital not a public one. Now the food, this must be the worst food I have ever had. Again, keep in mind I am paying nearly $600 a day to stay here. The food was much worse than a public hospital. There was always something missing on my order when I got it , the quality was like food coming straight out of a box. The menu choices was pathetic . I couldn’t even get bacon and eggs for breakfast, I was told “ we don’t do bacon “ . I had to write down on the order form for scrambled eggs. What! Private hospital, and you don’t serve bacon and eggs!! I might be winging a little, but considering I’m stuck in my room all day and in pain, the meals are the only things I look forward to in the day. . Not worth the money.

I was admitted today into rehab after a shoulder replacement surgery at Cabrini. I understand that it is a Sunday however the service was disgraceful. Yes the bedroom was ready but no Doctor to sign off my medication. Subsequently no pain relief until after l had been there for six hours. I asked for it and was told that the Doctor was not at the hospital to sigh it off. I stated that was really poor management and l was given one endone. The lunch was disgusting, macaroni cheese with Brussel sprouts. So shocking. I repeatedly asked for a dinner menu, eventually after a lot of nagging l got it. Roast Turkey with disgusting mash potatoes and frozen beans. Basic care such as being provided with a jug water wasn’t proffered, name tag, basic administrative tasks not done. The hospital is very run down and towels feel thread bare. The standards have really dropped here. I don’t think l will ask to come here again for rehab

Please don't send your loved ones here!!I was a patient after a suicide attempt, I spent 6 weeks in a mental health ward. Not long after I attempted suicide again I rang the ward I had been on and spoke to the nurse in charge whom I trusted only to be told they do not admit patient a second time, that is their policy ( even though I have Gold health insurance) I felt lost abandoned and absolutely devastated, I was extremely broken and now the support I thought I had had disappeared!! I was lied to and totally mislead!! I have recently found out this might not be true, so I rang the ward to clarify their policy. After what I can only describe as a hostile conversation with a male nurse ( I assume he was a nurse) I was hung up on. I found support elsewhere but I am STILL dealing with what happened while I was in there and the LIES!!

Beautiful room. My Doctor, Dr Lee (Leigh?), was a 6 out of 5. I checked out about 6 hours after ambulance dropped me off after a new right knee replacement @ Epworth Eastern Private. The reason, incessant noise from the nurses station. And my room was about 7 or 8 rooms away. Called a cab and stayed the night in a Doncaster motel. ( home is Wedderburn.) Going home to an empty house was better than staying for 7-10 of rehab. And virtually all of the noise was laughter/gaiety/ having fun at work. I offered to stay if they could find a quieter room but the response was "hey, this is a hospital". OMG. My surgeon was mortified when his staffed told him that I had left, in the dark, in a cab. For the record 95% of my reviews are complimentary rather than negative.

Vinay Kumar...Psychiatrist for mental health, is extremely expensive. Also telehealth which is not comfortable to talk on at all. $375 for a 25 minute consultation, at 20minutes he stops suddenly asking for Mastercard details. Has been difficult, costly, and it feels like he just wants things over and done with asap when I have so much more to say-but it's all about what he has to say, then ends. First doctor of any type to charge me, the claimant, hundreds of dollars and charge Medicare,() They also noted that I had not reached my safety net when I had. Not happy whatsoever. Doesn't care about his patients unless you go straight into the Psych ward the day you meet him, within 24 hours!! They need other Psychiatrists if they want patients. Not happy.

I saw Dr Kumar for adult adhd, adha treatment is expensive everywhere so that's ok. The Doctor himself was good but his receptionist Kelly is a total stonewalling B word. I had 1 questions once for the doctor and the absolute roadblock I got from her was something I've never experienced. Only when they tried to confirm the appointment I had cancelled 3 months after Kelly's lockout and I said I would come down and talk to the doctor did she get back to me within 20 min. 3 months earlier a message back was a day away unless it was normal appointment making. Again Dr Kumar was good otherwise. Ps look at reviews for other adhd clinics. It's the receptionists that seem half the issue. Oh she also gave me medical advice. Very illegal.

I have been a patient in Cassia for 12 days and the care that I have received has been nothing short of excellent! From the time I arrived by ambulance I was greeted by the lovely Jess who said I had hoped it was you when I saw you coming and then some of the other nurses came to me and remembered me which from the start of your stay you feel very reassured! The Physio team is just so good and Amos and his team a huge thank you! The meals have been lovely too and when they get delivered the staff are all so nice. Jacky you certainly run a wonderful ward A huge thank you for looking after me and thank you Dr Daniel Lee for looking after me.

Just tried to have flowers delivered but hospital would not accept them due to COVID restrictions. That's understandable, however their website makes no mention of not accepting flowers and still lists florists and delivery directions. My daughter ordered flowers yesterday which were delivered. The receptionist was quite abrupt and rude - she hung up on me. The elderly patient I ordered the flowers for is not positive in her comments on the level of care. Possibly best to try another hospital before checking in at this one.

My father was a Cancer patient in this hospital. Some of staff was absolutely disrespectful and disgusting. They didn’t let us meet him even though they shifted him to palliative care, said he’s not dying. Allowed us to meet only after he was already on morphine. Treated a dying patient like he’s already dead.I never expected living in Australia that a hospital like this ever existed. Living with so many regrets. Why did I ever let my father stay in this hospital.

  • Carolyn Thomas

My daughter was a patient here for 4 months due to mental health. Nothing was done to help her no one listened to her concerns. She sat in her room for 24 hours a day. Never encouraged to do anything. She left has since passed away. This is just one of places that let her down. Now even doctors are leaving it’s that bad. I hope my daughter is resting in peace. Hopefully no one has to go through what I have been though

Went to the hospital for rehab after knee surgery and had a very positive experience. The nurses were caring and very friendly but professional and the physio staff got me moving again and provided excellent follow up care. The menu and food options were very good and the food was tasty and met my needs as a gluten free diet was needed. I will definately chose this facility again if i need to

  • Ingrid Conroy

Some of the nurses are wonderful and the physiotherapy staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms are old and noisy and the food is a disgrace. There were may occasions in my 1 week stay that I did not enjoy my meal or I could not eat it. Can't wait to get home and eat food that will nourish my body and help me to heal. No more slop, sugar and frozen vegs!

  • Sarah K

Reading all of these reviews has scared me immensely. My mum Trish is about to be admitted here and I am so afraid for her life. She has been severely unwell for many years and seems to be tossed around the system. I hope there is empathy, support and comfort and by the end of her stay I can leave 5 stars. …

As a patient in rehab the last 10 days . I can only thank all the staff and nurses how much they care for the patients. Also the people in Physio who were outstanding in their care and support. Food was good and always fresh and tasty. This was my second time in there for rehab and a great place.

I have had all of my pregnancy scans (and other various scans) done at SEPH and I would never choose to go elsewhere! Their service is always friendly and professional, I am never left waiting excessively and they always try their best to fit me in- prioritising bookings when necessary too!

  • April

The hospital is fantastic! With warm support and friendly staffs, SEPH offers exceptional nursing care to all patients. Patients are well cared and the environment is lovely. Patients always show their smile to health care professionals~ Physio therapy, hydro therapy are amazing!

  • Sonja Lapsanas

My daughter was admitted under the mental health care team. A plan of care was implemented and NEVER carried out. She has now been transferred to Dandening hospital in an in coherent, delusional frame of mind. The lack of care from the staff at south eastern is pathetic.

  • Victoria Morgan

SOME Front reception staff act like they're prison guards not people that work with people. Website shows a clear covid visiting guidelines that include children but reception and management above have stressed my father out, every time he

  • Ryan Jones

I called approximately 5 minutes after receiving a missed call from this number (I have a lot of medical issues and thus a lot of scheduled appointments coming up, so no way to tell why this hospital had called me) - no voicemail was left

We were in the Trauma rehab, may be we are the unlucky ones. This hospital is a disaster for us. Very unprofessional nurses and rude attitude, always want to discharge my partner, even he had got some special conditions, very bad injuries

  • David Dock

One phone call and I was made fully aware of all the details necessary for a Radiology session. Staff indicated no appointment was necessary but they were very busy if I did not mind a wait. Took the chance. The staff were friendly and

Stayed in the Magnolia ward private room. The staff from doctors, nurses, physios, cooks, food service staff and cleaners were all excellent and caring. Thank u all so much 4 all your care, support and effort.

  • Cloud Strife

Staff were very helpful and wonderful...contacted doctors on our behalf to fix a referral...most places would just turn you away and tell you to get a new one... Speedy service and staff are very friendly..

  • Brian

Some of the Nurses wouldn't or couldn't follow instructions. Shame. This Hospital gave the impression of being run down, paint was thinking or missing, cracked walls

  • David Rosewall

Top notch care in Abelia ward for my mother from the nurses. Food could be a bit more warmer, although it can be warmed again. Thanks again for all your support.

  • 이재호

Thank you for the care and the nursing staff are absolutely wonderful and best in Melbourne . If it is rating for the nurses service it will be 5 stars review.

  • L Shaw

The psychiatric wing of the hospital opened in September so I was only the second person to arrive. Janet, the NUM had already spoken with me by phone.

  • John

Most staff are rude and dont care this hospital only operates because $$$ the focus is not improving patients health they make you believe it is.

  • Kelly Wilson

Professor Viddadi and Dr Conor are great , highly recommend them . Nurses were great, occasional hiccup but mostly a very good hospital

  • Ren Ren

Visited my father after his knee surgery ,visiting hours were 1pm-3pm arrived 3:05 and they still let me visit which was good.

  • Emily Plummer
