We made a detour from going to a Starbucks. Actually, the Starbucks nearby had a crazy parking so we decided to search for a new place and thankfully we stumbled upon this cafe. There was street parking and luckily we found a great spot a few doors down. Walking towards the café, we were told that there were doing screenings for high blood pressure and I don’t recall the other screening. It was the cafe’s way of helping the community. There was a station set up for information about free services for mental health. I declined the screening because I already have a primary doctor but the fact that they do this for free for the community is so heartwarming. The inside of the café it was really cool. They paid tribute to Nipsey Hussle and the community. I ordered a iced chai and it was delicious. I’m glad that they have milk alternatives here. There was a variety of pastries. I got a croissant that was delicious. Prices were very reasonable in comparison to Starbucks and the like. If I’m ever in the area, I will definitely come back. The service was excellent and the bathrooms were clean. There was even a backdrop to take photos on the couch, they sold the merchandise like sweaters, T-shirts and other knickknacks. Next time I come I will definitely be buying a sweater.
The South LA Café is a beautiful oasis in south Los Angeles. It is an eclectic place where multi-ethnic, multi-gender, multi-generational clientele gather to meet, greet, and study one another. The café is not too far from the USC campus. The coffee cake and coffee were 10 out of 10 excellent. The music was cool and relaxing. The atmosphere was fresh like a good coffee shop should be. I noticed they had all the plants that create the biosphere for health and wellness. They have free Wi-Fi and merch that one can buy to support the mission and remember their visit. The South LA café has another adjacent meeting room if you want to do larger group meetings. The outdoor seating area is perfect for that cool breeze feeling. I highly recommend that you visit. The South LA Café is the beautiful dream of a couple who wanted to bring something nice to South Los Angeles that supports community and encourages kindness. The service was excellent, and the food and service were good. I’ll give it a 10 out of 10 for the overall experience 10 out of 10. The prices are good value.

I decided to go here to support a small business that is supportive of the community. The decor was nice and it was clean. The cashier was nice but she forgot to give me my change from my order. I ordered a lemonade, iced vanilla latte and avocado toast with tomatoes. It was 17 bucks. Wow! Gave her a 20 and got no change. I think she forgot. My friend was purchasing earrings and bracelets . No problem but I think it was a human error. I didn't notice until I got in car. It was a long line so I just let it be. Purchased a 35 food box to support a family in need. Gave her 40, she gave the change, told her to keep it. I'm sad to say the drinks were horrible. My iced vanilla latte tasted like McDonald's coffee .My friend said her lemonade tasted like minute aid out of the fountain. The avocado toast with tomatoes was lit . I will try one more time because every one deserves a second chance. This is my honest experience. The 2 stars are based on the coffee and lemonade. The service was good and the fact that they help the community get 4 stars.
It's such a nice cafe. You have to try the avocado toast! They have different lattes and mocha flavors . My husband loves "berry white" . There's a outside eating area. They have hand sanitizer on every table with the option to sit in shade and sun. When you walk into the shop you get a friendly greeting and a smile . The staff is nice and the owners are a cute couple who are super nice too. One time we came thru the owner passed out merchandise to all the customers. Oh and the baked goods, coffee cake, so good. If you follow them, there are days when baked goods are free with a purchase of a drink. We go once a week ☺️ Totally recommend this spot!

Tldr; Worth checking out, more for the vibes and a good local spot than their drink quality or flavours. Seems like they're trying to invest in the neighborhood. Come here a few times a month. One of the only coffee shops within walking distance. Have tried their matcha, lattes, and LA Freeze. They're all just okay taste wise, but convenient morning treats before running to the bus. -Haven't yet tried their food, but it looks decent. -Good community gathering place and lots of outdoor seating. - Seems like they're training a bunch of new staff, so sometimes not enough attention, but getting there! - Toilets aren't the cleanest but good enough to use

This spot is a gem in the neighborhood! The vibe is peaceful and the energy is good. I don't know where they got their staff from, every staff member I have encountered has been polite and they speak you like they really enjoy being there; they are knowledgeable about the products and do make suggestions and recommendations to help you make an informed selection. I haven't been able to get past the coffee cake, just like what you remember from nutrition at LAUSD schools; I've been told that the avocado toast is wonderful too. And on top of all of this, the owners are on site! They are friendly and personable which adds to the overall comfortable feel.
Love this place, closest favorite SoLA coffee shop, fresh baked goods, Art, clothing and accessories. Joe & Celia are the BEST, they're all about community, feeding families & folks weekly! Indoor and outdoor seating was my office during COVID.

Vegan cheese on avocado toast. Oatmilk in my Lavender latte! Yum!
Love this place! I drink coffee everyday, but don't really love the taste of it (it's mostly to function) I went here to take my covid test awhile back and picked up a coffee and it quickly became one of my favorite spots. I actually really like the taste of their coffee, plus it's reasonably priced. I don't live close by, but try to make it on the weekends. I usually get caramel latte oatmilk, Chai latte oatmilk, or vanilla latte oatmilk. I recently tried the press juice, it was pretty good, but not my favorite.

The pastries are delicious here! I had the zucchini bread and ham and cheese croissant and they were both very yummy and filling. The prices are great too especially knowing that by supporting this business you are supporting all the great work they do. I recommend you come eat a tasty treat and coffee in their relaxed outside seating (its well shaded) and contribute to the community!

Great coffee. I had an iced latte with oat milk, and it hit the spot. Espresso was good as well. They have some pastries and bottled drinks as well. Inside has AC, but barely any indoor seating, but they have covered outdoor seating. Staff was quick and nice. They have a lot of South Central apparel like sweatshirts, shirts, hats, beanies and more. They also have Red Bay whole bean coffee, cups, and candles. ADA Accessible restroom with no steps required. All gender restroom.

They have roaches here!!! And the managers know about it too but don’t do anything about it! They can at least call pest control but no! The roaches crawl everywhere, obviously so they get in the cups too and they still allow us to serve you in them! Me personally I would never eat here again, it makes me second guess Starbucks now too lol STAY WOKE PEOPLE!

Great experience. Fantastic staff friendly staff. Interior spotlessly clean. Outside seating on the street very comfortable. Very enjoyable atmosphere. Background music perfect, loud enough to be heard but low enough to have an easy conversation. Fantastic experience. I visited at 10 AM and no problem finding a seat and there was plenty of seating outside. Great place to relax and plan the next couple hours of your day!

This place is fantastic, everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable and truly cared about the cause they were supporting. The day I went I had the pleasure of meeting on of the owner's Celia and it was also the day that they do their grocery drive and provide free groceries to the community. It was wonderful to see them in action. Plus the coffee and treats were also delicious! I will absolutely be back and love supporting small businesses that care.
My first time visiting South LA Café. I ordered a carrot cake muffin and to my surprise it had real carrots. Their coffee is very good too, it’s a medium roast to dark roast. During my quick visit I witnessed the assembling of food baskets and a line folks waiting to receive them. I am absolutely happy to have found a coffee shop within my own community and that’s also giving back to the community.
I love South LA Cafe. The coffee and pastries are both amazing as well as the people that work there. Love the Horchatta Latte, croissants, and also a jalapeno cheese croissant. Super cute cafe with Nipsey Hussle on the wall, and South LA hoodies (which I have purchased a few of.) I also like the outdoor dining area!

I absolutely loved this cafe! They really fulfill their mission of coffee with a cause. They’re dedicated to fighting racial, economic, and other inequalities through their community building. Additionally, the customer service is wonderful. Everyone who works there is so sweet. I highly recommend this cafe.

One of my favorite coffee places that I'm weekly - sometimes daily - loyal to. BEST team, ever. Every time. I never leave there without feeling extra positive or uplifted thanks to someone on the South LA Cafe team. I confidently recommend to anyone who wants good coffee AND great community!
Thanks for providing free covid testing. It's been nice to catch three stones with one hand* by getting tested, supporting a Black-owned business, and getting some delicious chai. The staff and everyone were great. ✌ * The remix.

I love anything black owned, and I’m even more excited when our greatness is reflected in the establishment! I ordered a Mocha with Almond milk and it was rich, and smooth. The Baristas were friendly and welcoming.. and incredibly patient as it was my first visit. Can’t wait to come back!
I am extremely grateful for this awesome coffee shop with an awesome ginormous space in my neighborhood. The space is clean, inviting, and decorated pretty spare but tastefully. I will definitely keep it in mind and will keep coming back to either meet friends, have meetings and/or work.
I really like this place. I wholeheartedly support the mission. the hoodies , goodies and the vibe are all real cute. And the coffee is worth a wait. The beans taste fresh and never burnt, and for a latte the ratios are just right. I just wish they would stay open longer …
I have only been to the one at the Hollywood Bowl and can’t wait to visit the other ones in LA! Best iced mocha with coconut milk I ever had! I met the owners at the Bowl and they were super friendly too.

Amazing place to come to!! Came for coffee but ended up coming out with a bunch of freebies. The owners are so nice and the coffee is spot on, it made my morning. If you’re ever around the area, check this place out you won’t be disappointed!
For someone that has no patience to review locations, this place is well worth the time and efforts to review and receive my five stars. It is well worth the 15 miles drive from home and support every bit of their running work. These people
This is an amazing spot! They have partnered up with local vendors, Black-owned, to sell a variety cool merchandise. You can also grab a quick cup of coffee and some food. The decor is thoughtful and informed. Definitely worth checking out!
So excited to have a great coffee shop in the neighborhood! Drinks are delish, the staff is delightful, and space is great for gathering with friends or getting some work done. They have cabinet of board games and great little conference

Great spot for coffee. They are really good people working their as they offer donations and are conscientious about feeding and clothing those without. Donation box for jackets is really awesome. Great coffee and croissants too. More
Love to see a Black-owned coffee shop in this neighborhood! To all my vegans/plant-based people: they have multiple non-dairy milk options! They use good quality beans, too, because my latte was on point. Will definitely be back!
Best place to get your coffee in South LA. Black-owned and they have the best coffee cake. The atmosphere is dope and a great place to meet up, create and of course have a cup of Joe. Forget starbucks, come to the South LA Cafe!
