Every time walk in SW Reef, Rob, Mike and Co. will always greet my by my first name. The very first day walked into the store, my intent was to find some fresh water options. However, Rob brought me to the light of the beauty and commitment of having a reef tank. Hooked is an understatement! They personally came to my home and set up my tank an provided personalized care and training every step of the way. Rather if by person, or phone, their staff has always been available to answer my questions and provide tips when my parameters were not quite adding up. Currently, during the COVID-19 precautions, Rob has remained open for his customers and his staff despite personal health risks. I commend SW Reef for their offering excellent customer service and I plan to continue to give them my business. I would recommended anybody who is interested in entering into the hobby or just want to see REALLY cool coral, fish, shrimp, snails, and other awesome reef critters in the NM, TX and CO areas, Rob will take care of you an your reef tank needs!

This was my favorite reef shop in New Mexico. The entire staff is knowledgeable and really helpful. I got to the point that I knew everyone there and they knew me as well as my tank and it's inhabitants. Jen, Mike and Rob really went the extra mile every time I stopped in and I enjoyed getting to see them continue to enhance their established tanks in the store. They have a lot of sales especially on frags and you can trade frags for store credit. This isn't like going to a box store, the staff here know their coral and know their fish. They helped me problem solve on many occasions, giving me the scientific rationale for everything. I never felt pressured to bbuy something or add unnecessary chemicals to my tank. I have moved out of state but would recommend anyone to this store; especially if you are new to the hobby and want good advice and guidance to a healthy saltwater aquarium.

A reply to Randy - I would highly suggest that you go in on the weekend and speak to Rob the Owner directly. I'm sure what ever happened was nothing more than a misunderstanding. He is always willing to help and takes a lot of pride in his business. Rob has many experienced and dedicated employees that are more than willing to help but they are not him. Take my advice and I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised. I was in the business myself for fifteen years in NJ. His prices are exceptionally low for a LFS and based on the products you described the store would be lucky to have made a penny more than 20 percent. Employees at Southwest Reef Company are always supportive and offer advice when available. This store has an excellent variety of marine fish, coral, and invertebrates, and are always sold at a reasonable price. Livestock are always provided in great condition without any pests, and employees at SWRC always provide their livestock with great husbandry. I would highly recommend any newcomers to this shop, and don't be intimidated by the difficulty of getting into the hobby. Reefing is a really fun hobby to get into, and I have learned a lot as I've gone by.

Very very helpful!! I walked in with questions about why my goldfish are getting ill and the owner just knew what he was talking about. i was going to buy medication right off the bat and he told me not too, instead he gave me instructions on what to do before i make anything worse. His store was clean and had a large variety of supplies. I am very thankful for his help especially since his store specialized in saltwater aquariums and i came in looking for goldfish help. :) 5 stars just for great customer service

Rob and Mike are Amazing! Always extremely helpful and knowledgeable! We love visiting the store and always know we will be well taken care of! Tim works the Rio Rancho store and we couldn’t ask for a better staff! Rob even helped us when our tank exploded, and took care of our fish and coral at the RR store with Tim until we could get a new tank up and running! Rob even helped us with getting the warranty on our old tank! Amazing people! Wouldn’t take my money anywhere else! They always go above and beyond!

Hands-down I love this store the owner is extremely knowledgeable and very patient I am new to the hobby and to be honest with you I kind of think I’d be lost without talking to these folks hands-down the best place in town to buy your products, corals, and fish with good prices also has an amazing staff I wish I can give them more than a five star review because they would get 10 plus I am guaranteed to go back time and time again in fact I’m probably gonna take all my business to these guys.

I always wanted a saltwater fish tank since I was a little kid and seeing the amazing reefs in Hawaii. The price was always a deal breaker for me. This store has everything you will need at great prices. Robert and his staff are very knowledgeable, very helpful and will spend as much time as you need and answer any questions you have before, during the set up and upkeep of your tank. I appreciate the time they took with me, went over everything and got me set up with my first tank.

My family and I stopped in here once when we were staying at a hotel down the street and were contemplating buying tropical fish. We didn't buy anything, because we had no way of transporting any fish to where we then lived, which was about three hours away. However, I will say that Southwest Reef has an extensive selection of fish and supplies. The staff was friendly and helpful as I recall. It's worth dropping by sometime just to see what they have available.

THIS STORE IS AWFUL ! Don’t shop here I went in and I bought a couple of fish which I was very excited about and I could not wait to take them home . And I always buy here and the exact same thing happens they all die within 1-2 days of me buying them I just wasted 100$ I did not have .When I called they just pretty much told me I was outta luck and there was nothing u could do and hung up. I will never shop here again I have made this mistake to many times

Rob and his crew are fantastic at taking care of you and listen to your questions then absolutely help. They have the best customer service I have seen in years. By far better then Clark's or any other fish stores in town. The quality and condition of their tanks fish and corral shows how knowledgeable they are. Love to go there and shop. No longer spend my money where you are not first. Best place bar non.

I love this place! I went in mostly to just see the fish so I was planning on keeping to myself and try not to get in the way. However, there was a young guy who was so nice he basically was teaching me so much and showing me around. What a great experience. I will definitely be back and tell everyone how nice they were there. Also they kept their tanks sooo clean. Way better than Clark's.

Robert and his team have been really helpful and answered a TON of questions. Southwest Reef Co has a well earned reputation. The store is always clean and the animals always look great. Robert has been super honest and I believe the he and his team have the welfare of the animals as their first priority. I could not be happier. I'll be returning for as long as I am in the hobby.

Nothing against the big box retail stores but don't waste your time for saltwater fish. Southwest Reef is the place to go! The expertise, customer service, quality of products and diversity of fish cannot compare to what you'll find at Southwest Reef. Nothing but good things to say about this establishment. Been in the reefing world for 15+ years. By far the cleanest tanks I have seen. Ordered a monster of a tank 1 week ago and just got confirmation from shipping company it will be here Monday. 8 days after ordering. If you want salt water livestock/equipment don't waste your time going elsewhere

Rob and team are an amazing resource for livestock, dry goods, and anything else reef-related. If he doesn't have it on hand, Rob will order whatever you need. Excellent selection of healthy and lively animals, fish, eels, crabs, snails, corals, always something new. Been coming here for a long time, highly recommended.

Immediately I noticed clean and well-stocked tanks with well-acclimated and healthy livestock at fair or better prices. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and freely provided time and advice on technical issues regarding LED lighting choices based on my own aquarium size, my reef needs, and my budget.

Rob is great. Livestock selection is excellent and extremely well cared for. He's happy to special order anything you want. Prices are high, but I'm used to San Diego. So, I think that's reasonable considering he's got higher costs and lower volume sales to contend with vs a major coastal city.

Southwest Reef is amazing, the staff is always outgoing and helpful. Today, they informed me that they can help with custom orders for fish stands and answered questions on how to extend a refill system for 5 days. Their tanks are never over crowded and have an awesome selection for corals.

This place is excellent. They mainly only do salt water. But Robert still took the time to explain what my fresh water take needed. He even sent me home with a schedule (a treatment plan) of what I would need to do to help with the problems I'm having! Super helpful! Highly recommended!

We love coming here. The better of the 2 reef stores in ABQ. Friendly staff, almost everything is always in stock or available within days. Highly recommended for those looking to start a reef tank or take up the hobby. It's addicting and costly, but beautifly worth it if u do it right

Very helpful. They carry freshwater equipment and supplies, but they don't carry freshwater fish. Their salt water fish look amazing and healthy. We bought sponge filters, tubing, algae scrapers and foreceps. Everything is high quality and wasn't overpriced.

They have a decent selection of fish, including puffer, sea horse, and even a huge eel when I visited. Many large aquarium options ranging from I think 40 gallons up to 180 as wells as a ton of accessories and sumps.
