Not impressed. I booked a relaxing "mini" spa package for my mother and myself and we had been waiting several weeks for this appointment. I've worked in customer service so I understand how at the end of the day it can be taxing/exhausting, but you still have a commitment to your client when your in the service industry. First off, the express manicure/pedicure took 2 hours (1 hour for each), I would understand that length of time if it were truly worth it, but I've gone to walmart and received a better manicure/pedicure for half the cost and half the time. First off the nail technician appeared very flustered and we felt rushed the entire time like we were inconveniencing them. Second, as she was performing the pedicure she cut my toe (small cut), making me bleed and didn't even address that until later during the manicure. The same nail technician very unprofessionally made me feel embarrassed like I had some type of "diseased" toe, and bluntly asked me "what was wrong with my big toe?" lack of professionalism. The nail technician that was performing my mother's manicure proceeded to remove her mask and blow on her nails in order to dry them, not exactly the safest idea especially during COVID. Instead of allowing us to return to the lounge after our mani/pedis to relax while everything dried, we were ordered by the nail techs to remain in the nail/pedi area and they proceeded to frantically clean their space and talk very loudly about how excited they were to hurry up and leave, VERY unprofessional and NOT relaxing at all. My mother and I felt very uncomfortable waiting there, in a small space, while they cleaned up their workstations, and their demeanor during that would've been something that I would expect around my co-workers in private, not around paying clients. There would've been no issue with allowing the clients to return to the lounge so they can relax in between their services. The massages were great! At the beginning of our day I asked the receptionist what time they close the hot tubs and I was told 6:30 (spa actually advertised as closing at 7pm), which I do understand that in order to close on time that you start closing procedures early, but if you tell the client that the hot tubs close at 6:30, you should probably stick to that. We finished our massages at 6:10 and changed very quickly so we could enjoy the hot tub for about 15 minutes before leaving the spa, but not shocking the hot tubs had already been closed/received chemicals at 6:10 so we weren't able to enjoy them at all.... I understand that as an employee you may want to be done working for the day, but you should probably keep with your word. If they would've told us the hot tubs close at 6pm that would've been understandable, but again we were told they close at 6:30. There was nothing relaxing about our time at this spa which is very disappointing, definitely not worth the money you pay, felt rushed and as if we were inconveniencing the staff the entire time. Will never be returning!

I recently booked a massage and facial at the Spa at Briarcliff. I made reservations 4 weeks in advance for my girlfriend and I to have a kid free Saturday afternoon. I called the day before to answer the COVID screening questions I assumed they would have and also to confirm the time of the reservation. She asked me what I did for a living and I told her I was a nurse. She then asked if I had had any contact with any COVID + patients and I told her not that I knew of. She then told me because I had a "high risk occupation" she would have to check with her manager to see if we would be allowed in. Now don't get me wrong, I am completely for appropriate screening, masking, social distancing, etc. I also understand this is a difficult time for businesses and it's hard to know how to navigate appropriately. However, I don't understand how me being a nurse and working in a hospital environment is cause to literally keep me out of a building. I thought during this time we were supposed to be especially nice to our front line workers instead of denying them entry into what is supposed to be a relaxing atmosphere. In the end we were told we would not be allowed in the building. I have never experienced this kind of treatment and I know I do not want to support a business that has this kind of mindset. Maybe others will feel the same.

First time going to the spa and i absolutely loved it! Definitely couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The service i got done was called a mini facial which was entirely worth every penny. I was a little bummed i didn’t get any extractions but i will next time! There was fresh fruit water throughout the entire building. The European tubs were amazing! And the water falls were beautiful. The staff was welcoming and kind to me. Especially the women that did my facial. She was very helpful and informative about my skin and what products would work well (as i told her i don’t use products on my skin but wanted too) She also was very caring knowing i have anxiety and she took every step to make sure i felt comfortable. I was definitely impressed. Although i feel like they need to robes, I’m sure they will buy new ones soon. I will be back for sure. I loved it so much i told my significant other i needed to go monthly for “mom time.” So i do 10/10 recommend this place. Very satisfied.

Fantastic service, beautiful place! I had my second facial with Lala yesterday afternoon and decided to add a body scrub as well. Both services were excellent. First, Lala is superb at her job. She is knowledgeable and professional, and she does it such a way that it puts you at ease. I did not feel overwhelmed by the skin care routine she recommended for me. She took the time to explain it and write it down. For the first time ever, I followed the suggest routine and have noticed a vast improvement in my skin. I am beyond thrilled. I have already booked my next several monthly facial appointments, which I am really looking forward to, as they are both relaxing and rewarding. The Spa at Briarcliff is a lovely, serene place and I have enjoyed going there over the years. I am now an even bigger fan of this spa, because of the excellent service I have received from Lala. I highly recommend.

A girlfriend and I went to the spa at briar cliff today to celebrate my birthday. We are newer to the area and have been wanting to try out a day spa. Talk about disappointing - on the phone during the confirmation call we were told masks were only required in the common areas and lobby, specifically not during our services. We were surprised when masks were then REQUIRED during services and the communication to do so was VERY rude. If they’re so worried about covid maybe a temp check and questionnaire would be helpful for them. Also, the locker room was not very clean - the soap was out in the shower, the water failed to get hot in the shower, and toilet paper was out. We were never offered water or anything to drink during our stay at briar cliff. Overall, we rate this a 2 out of 5. Definitely will NOT be returning.

Places to avoid deep tissue is anterior and posterior neck muscles. Additionally, axilla can be taken under considerable but not heavy pressure. However the deltoid and teres minor should not be exerted where it's near excruciating on one side and clearly adjusted to appropriate pressure on the other. I do understand pressure points can be a place to work on, but knowing it's a pressure point that is known to provide pain and work on the most through overextended period of time left me in tears. I came here through referral and birthday gift and was told they are the best. I was only assuming that they were doing what they are trained. However, after researching what not to do, it gives me an impression there was underlying conditions that had nothing to do with me which she had to use me as their decompression.

So today, 2/12/2021, the wife and I had a couples massage that I had set up over a month ago. This was for the wife's birthday and valentines day. A special treat for us with the romance package. This is the second time in 5 months we have done this. Both times there has been no hot water, when I say no hot water I mean it is coming out like ice it's so cold. So unable to go and do something else afterwords that we had planned because when it's below 10 degrees outside you don't want to take an ice cold shower. No mention that they would not have any hot water. Also, my massage therapist was really just rubbing one me and would not call it a massage. At no time did she ask if the pressure was good or bad. Which the person I see on a monthly basis she ask every time with no exceptions.

Even though this place is beautiful..... I cannot recommend this business. I wish I could! I went for a Chemical Peel ( which cost $300) and I didn't even peel ,or seen any difference.... They were kind enough to do it again ( without charging me ) with another kind of Peel and still, no change...I told them, and did not get anything for my money. I didn't even peel or burn! I went to another place, few months later and I felt the burn and peeled. Was happy with the results! I'm upset that I wasted $300! I do not like bashing a business, but I emailed them, and got no response. I would have been happy if they would have offered something else on their services for my money down the drain. But I absolutely liked the girl who did my Peel. I would say, it was the product. Terrible!

My previous visits were 5 stars, but today was only so so. It's definitely time to get new robes. Every one I looked at had rips. There also weren't enough sizes. I just had a baby and couldn't find a robe that really covered me well. The staff at the front desk were bickering with each other while I filled out my paperwork which was odd and disruptedisrupter the experience. My massage was also just ok. Previously when I've visited the service had been tailored to what I needed. Today she didn't focus on the areas I really needed work done on and discussed before we began. It was just a standard all over massage so I left a little disappointed. I'll give them another chance since I've had great experiences in the past though.

The Spa at Briarcliff is true class. My colleagues and I came to town for an annual conference and after several days of long hours, we sought deep rejuvenation, which we found in the time spent here. We enjoyed the Euro baths, facials and massages (which should all be enjoyed together!). My esthetician was Lala, who I highly recommend. She has incredible product knowledge and a healing touch. The spa is clean, spacious and relaxing, with a well-stocked shower room so you can walk away refreshed and dolled back up. We had one issue while there, but Amanda, the Spa Manager, graciously and immediately took care of it. We look forward to returning next year as this spa day is the best way to end our annual trip to KC!

As a disabled combat veteran, my wife has been sending me for massages almost every single month for years and years now, even under the previous ownership. Myself and my wife have always made it clear that I do not want a male masseuse, it’s nothing personal I just makes me extremely uncomfortable. I arrived today to find a male masseuse waiting for me for my monthly massage. Not wanting to be rude, I excused myself, and headed directly to the front desk. I let them know what happened, & that it made me extremely uncomfortable. I thought we were clear in the computer notes, as well when we book over the phone, but apparently not. I am debating canceling my massages for the remainder of the year.

The staff was very friendly. I scheduled my appointment in advance and filled out the paperwork upon arrival. Only waited about 5 minutes. I had a mini facial done and the experience was very relaxing and rejuvenating. I had no idea what to expect. The only thing that could have made it better foe me personally was to know what she was using each time she applied and wiped off a product, (or to have been given a list of what she used or something) AND what to xpect after. I got out to my car and was surprised to see my face so blotchy red. A quick Google search proved it to be normal and nothing to worry about and it went away within 1 or 2 hours. Overall, great experience. Will be back again!

Visited the Spa at Briarcliff on a Sunday afternoon and couldn’t be happier with the experience. I was there for a mini massage and manicure. Front desk staff was friendly and after filling out a short form with questions about massage preference I was taken back to the locker room. Slippers and a robe were waiting for me. I was able to lock my things in a locker which made me be able to relax from the get go. Sat in a waiting room for my massage therapist where there was water, hot tea, and fruit. Very relaxing space. Lily was my massage therapist and she was amazing! Manicure after that was quick and it looks great. The manicurist was easy to talk to and did an amazing job. Will be back!!

I was discriminated against for working in a hospital. I filled out appropriate paperwork concerning covid. Took my temp. If I was a risk I would not have been there. The girl daisy found out I worked in medical field 20 min into my facial. She is inexperienced and not educated. She was not comfortable performing my facial which I knew upon meeting her it was going to be les s than adequate. The cigarette smell on her fingers was nauseating. This is who is representing you briarcliff! You will never get my business again. Very disappointed in your staff. So non-essential! I will be sure to let all of my medical friends and first responders know to not waste time or money.

I wanted to love this place but it just fell short in every way. My sister and I booked massages for my birthday and when we got there, they didn’t have robes and asked us to change in and out of our clothes in the massage room because apparently they were out of robes. My massage table wasn’t heated. My sister asked multiple times during her massage for the technician to be less firm with pressure and he wouldn’t lighten up. Neither of them asked what kind of pressure we like or asked how it was. Very disappointed. One whirlpool was out of order, one shower was as well and there was tile falling off the walls. This place has all the potential but is not what it appears.

The masseuses were extremely nice. However, there are no robes or sandals. Just an FYI if you attempt to use the whirlpool. The lounge area used to have water and an assortment of snacks but not anymore. When you are lying on your stomach for the massage, they have a towel covering the area to breathe for the head attachment. It was extremely hot and I was not able to breathe. I asked to just lay my head on the side, flat against the table. By the time I got up from the massage, my neck was in much more pain than when I started. I now need to make a chiropractic appointment ASAP.

My boyfriend bought a package for me to enjoy. He didn't tell me exactly what to expect beside that it was a massage. I got the basic massage and the girl massaging me talked about herself and her musician boyfriend to the point that I wanted to puke. She also bragged about being super great at her job that she was stealing old men costumers from the others... Blah, blah.. I went home and found out what he had paid and informed him on what I had received and we were both pretty disappointed. He called the next day and they were no help in compensating for their mistake.Terrible.

I have been to many spas and was looking forward to a relaxing day here. The entire facility is filthy. The showers, bathrooms, and hot tubs need deep cleaning. My husband did have a good massage but mine was one of the worst I have ever had. I asked for more pressure and the therapist did not provide more pressure or ask for feedback. Then he was playing rock music in his earbuds that I could hear during the massage! When checking out, none of the staff asked how the experience was. Avoid this place as it was a major waste of money.

This was not a good experience. I wouldn't even call it a spa. My friend and I had a manicure and pedicure that took over 2 hours and the one nail tech talked the whole time very loudly so the whole room could hear about her family issues. There was nothing relaxing about it. Also, within two days the polish that was used started peeling on nails and toes. I called twice and asked the receptionist to have someone call me so we could figure out what happened. It's been a week and no call back. I would not recommend this place at all.

Skin care, massage and an empathetic conversation made my appointment with Kimberley the most rejuvenating selfcare moment of my life. My expectations of mildly addressing crows feet and stress brow furrowing was meet with life changing practices of selfcare and selflove. She fits in perfectly with this establishment that allows for relaxed transitions between treatment with promotion of extraordinary accommodations that included hot spas and stocked shower rooms, included with the facial and massage services!

I have been seeing Lala for facials once a month for almost a year now. She is absolutely amazing. Explains to you the products she is using and how it will benefit your skin. She even makes recommendations for products not sold at The Spa which shows me she really cares about making my skin the best it can be and not just making extra commission by selling their product line. Overall I had a great experience, but I was extremely disappointed once I left the spa and noticed that my niece still had her eye make-up on. Who receives a facial without having their make-up removed? It's a shame because my services were almost perfect because of my masseuse Tiffany. However, I was able to hear noise from the hall as people walked by, but it did not take away from my overall experience. I will not be returning in the future.

The staff was very welcoming and the accomodations were great! The space had everything we needed and then some. It was very peaceful and relaxing. My facial was done by Kimberley and let me just say, my skin has never looked or felt better. Kimberely is an absolute gem and I'm happy I got to spend some time with her. Walked in and immediately everyone greeted us with kindness and smiles. Beautiful clean spa. Got a couples massage which both my husband and I enjoyed it. The rooms are clean and relaxing. Next we went into the hot tub which has three tubs ranging from coolest to hottest. Shower rooms have lockers which you can choose your own lock combo and the showers are amazing with full size shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

I really can't say enough good things about this spa. It is absolutely the best you will find in KC. The staff is kind and responsive and the atmosphere immediately sets you at ease. They have three separate waterfall pools that are three separate temperatures, from hot to warm to cool. The lounge is always stocked with fresh water, hot teas and snacks. Treat yourself and book an experience here. THE BEST!

Administrative organization needs improving. They kept asking us for the times and services we had asked for repeatedly, on the phone 3 times and when we arrived. Also the relaxation room had a group of women there who were extremely loud and no one from the staff ever came in to ask them to lower their voices. Chris the masseuse was fantastic! But unfortunately, the overall experience was lacking.

i used a gift card from my boyfriend on 9/23/16. The two of the three hot tub were broken. The locker rooms were small and crowded so don't plan to take a shower after. Massage therapist was worst I have ever had, she must not have experience, didn't touch spot I asked for and used very little pressure. The facial was just ok, save your money and use a massage envy who are trained for same price.

The massage I got was fantastic; however, the people they have working the front counter were not particularly cordial, friendly or helpful. I felt dismissed and unwanted as soon as I walked in and again at checkout. I've gone twice, because I thought maybe the first time was a fluke. It was not. I don't normally write negative reviews, but the service was just that bad. I won't go back.

I have had three wonderful massages provided by Jasmine. I appreciate how she really listens to her clients and takes care to make sure it is a great experience. I like her massage techniques and how she keeps the sheets tucked in to your body as needed. She also really utilizes the time well to cover all aspects of your massage. I highly recommend Jasmine.

A friend booked us pedicures for my birthday and we came a bit early to use the hot tubs. The girls that greeted us were the sweetest, the hot tubs were AMAZING and so relaxing, and the pedicures were wonderful. The nail techs (Bernadette and Richelle) did such a great job and were so friendly. It was such a perfect way to spend my birthday morning!

I have been to this spa many times, however, it was my first visit under new ownership. The facial from Sydney and massage from Lily were amazing. The amenities were lacking. They ran out of clean towels, there were less water stations and there were no gloves for the staff. I will return but might consider visiting the new spa in OP.

She is so knowledgeable and explains everything, always checking in on what questions I have about skin care and offering up suggestions to help me meet my skincare goals. Facial services were great. My massage was by far the worst I ever had. Lindsey attitude was terrible, I am typically not one to complain but this was not what I expected. I have been to this spa in the past many years ago and it was fantastic but not what I experienced this time. I will not be returning. Very disappointed

Lala was my esthetician today! My facial was very relaxing and every step was explained beforehand. The facial included cleansing, exfoliation, spot treatment, mask, moisturizing and a much appreciated upper back, shoulder, upper arm, face, neck, décolletage and scalp massage! I would highly recommend Lala!

Five stars all the way! The spa at briarcliff was the perfect way to unwind from the stresses of recent motherhood and covid craziness. The protocols they have in place made it easy to relax and feel safe doing so. The European baths were so relaxing and our services were wonderful! Highly recommend

A very relaxing and luxurious experience. The facility is very clean and comfortable. I went for a massage and enjoyed the hot tub bath before. The locker room was well stocked and clean. All staff I interacted with were very nice and helpful. I very much recommend and can't wait to go back.

Very expensive nail treatment. My nails did not look any better than a place that charges half the price plus my gel nails starting chipping within a week. I will say that it looked like instruments were clean, , but room was not very clean.

Don’t go here for a prenatal massage. They don’t have specialized tables. Didn’t ask any questions about my pregnancy. I was on my side the whole time, which was not conducive to good technique. Plus it cost way more than a normal massage.
