Spencer Smith Park is a fantastic park near Burlington downtown, located on the shore of Lake Ontario. The children playground, splash pads of the Dofasco Water jet Plaza, grasslands, gazebo, benches along the boardwalks, separate lanes for walking, cycling or rollerblading are all features a fantastic promenade. Limited paid parking spaces (CAD1.75/hr) in the park are available even on weekends and holidays, or you can try for the free street parking in the downtown area during weekends or holidays and walk back to the park. The Naval Ships' Memorial Monument, Lady of the Lake Statue and fountain, Brant Street Pier are all good attractions in the park. It also offers a magnificent view of the lake, beach, and Skyway Bridge while sitting on the breakway. It's famous for taking pictures for stunning sunsets, but I would love to say that it's gorgeous for all day. It's definitely worth checking out while going to Burlington. It's a great place to relax and enjoy some fresh air with the people you love or just a quiet me time.
Playground
The kids will absolutely love to have fun there.
Restrooms
There're well maintained washrooms in the Spencer's At The Waterfront restaurant, but there are porta-potties only along the park and the area around the Brant Street Pier.
Dog-friendliness
I've seen people walking their dogs and but all with a dog leash.
Picnic area
There are picnic tables on the grasslands, gazebo, and the children playground.

Great for walks whether alone, or with family and friends. There is a lot of nice photo opportunities, plenty of area to sit down and even have a picnic at. There are musicians who come play here, and some of them are incredibly talented that they do deserve some donations. Festivals and other events are also quite common here. There are benches along the path, but for some of the nicer areas you'd want to sit near, there usually is already someone there. Sunsets and sunrises are beautiful around here, and present many photo opportunities. It's also super safe to walk along the park area due to it being so public, you won't really have to worry about dangerous people or things too much, even at 12 AM. However, I have seen older men creepily looking or staring at me late in the night.. (after 12 AM) but I still feel relatively safe being around so many other people in plain view. A lot of people have dogs off leashes here (even though it's not safe, because anything can happen and provoke a dog) which isn't the best, since someone like me is allergic and also had a bad childhood experience with dogs. So please keep them on a leash, even if it's a long leash. If you see someone is becoming cautious around your dog, please pull them back. You don't know if they're just scared, or if they're allergic, even if you know your dog is good. I believe you, but some people like me still can't be near them without getting an allergic reaction unfortunately.

This is an amazing spot to spend some quality time with family, friends , colleagues or even just yourself. Take the time to soak yourself in the lovely views of the lake and the amazing sounds of birds. Take a stroll or just sit and relax, either way you’re are guaranteed to be satisfied after spending time. So much to do! We parked at Burlington Beach Parking Lot. Put our toes in the sand and clean ripples water before taking the trek through the waterfront trail towards Stanley Park and the Brant Pier. After soaking up the views from the Pier we went to get Ice Cream at La Creme de La Creme and walked through the charming Village Square. Almost forgot we were so close to home! Felt like a little escape.
Playground
Large greenery playground is available through out the waterfront trail.
Restrooms
Restrooms are not available on the park side.
Dog-friendliness
Dog friendly park.
Picnic area
this trail are paths that are right next to beach, parks for the kids to play and in winter an ice skating rink.

A beautiful park with a beautiful water front view. A walking path that leads to the beaches, and various areas for picnics (picnic bench and blanket picnics). There is a splash park for kids and various events that take place for everyone to enjoy. It’s close to Brant street for anyone who wants to get something to eat. There is limited parking at the water front but various parking lots and side roads not too far. There is a look out area . An icecream bike that comes around during the summer. Open washrooms and occasionally a canteen. It’s a good place for everyone of all ages.
Playground
They have a playground for kids to enjoy.
Restrooms
They have clean, public restrooms. They for sure have a men’s and woman’s. I don’t remember if they have an all gendered or family Washroom but I think so.
Dog-friendliness
I see many dog owners bringing their pets. There’s also often Canadian goose to chase!
Picnic area
Picnic tables and a lot of space to put own blankets

  • Adam Schaus

Such an amazing park to go and visit. There's a wonderful splash pad and a very new clean park for the kids. Lots of space for picnics, also plenty of benches and places to sit. There's plenty of trees and of course, the beautiful lake view. My kids just love the ability of going to the park (with a zip line! ) and then taking their scooters along with them and going as fast as they can up and down the walkway, beside the park. It's very pet friendly. The water fountain even has a bowl down at the bottom for dogs! "How cool is that!". The only downfall is there's no restrooms that I could see. That being said Tim hortons and other places aren't too far. Just remember to give your kids and yourself some time to find a restrooms. There's lots of parking around, it's just mostly paid parking. Fairly reasonable pricing. I would definitely recommend this place as the Brant Street Pier is very close by with a beach as well. It's a perfect one stop shop for a great afternoon!

  • ICourier

A nice park to enjoy the waterfront of Lake Ontario and is a host place to many events such as the sound of music, rib fest, and so on. Beautiful scenery for walks, jogs, biking and so on. Even has free parking in the evening so it’s nice to enjoy the breeze when it’s warm. Also, it is full of lights during the winter holidays such as the ones in the photos attached. Always a fun place to hang out with friends after enjoying the different restaurants by the park!
Playground
Nice playground that has many options for kids to enjoy and additionally during the winter they open up an outdoor seating rink that opens up the options for the park
Dog-friendliness
A nice trail that is also designated for bikes and pedestrians at the waterfront and can be used for walking and jogging with your furry friend especially in the wormer months!

  • Namitha Nandakumar

It is a beautiful park. Here are my good points, not so good points review: Good points ------------- 1. Parking is easy to access 2. Washrooms are right at the enterance 3. Huge and vast park right at the side of a river 4. A lot of activities for children 5. Lush green park for picnic and other activities 6. Instagrammable spot 7. Near by to a street full of restaurants 8. Near to transit 9. Cherry blossom trees (though on 13th of May, 2023, only one tree was blooming) 10. Scenic spot Bad points ----------- 1. Crowded 2. Finding a parking spot can be tricky 3. People do smoke there 4. Cherry blossoms (for which the park is famous), blooms at certain times, so have to keep that in mind in case you are travelling from a long distance. Overall, I would give it 6/10.

I Have Being Visiting Spencer Smith Park For So Many Years and It Has Only Gotten More Beautiful And Popular. There Is Something For Everyone of All Ages. The Park Is So Very Well Kept and You If Ever Find Garbage Laying About. There Are Many That Help To Keep This Beautiful Part of Burlington So Exceptional and Many, as including myself, Pick Up and Dispose Of Garbage ️ That Can Even Be Thrown From So Many Passing Cars Out Just For a Drive etc. It’s a Community Effort By All and Everyone Is Made To Feel Welcome No Matter Your Heritage. I Know First Hand, Not Only Do I Fly Over The Lake But I Reside Close. OH, The Best GELATO Is Just Across The Street and Other Terrific Places and Restaurants!!!!❤️

  • A.T.

This park is amazing for all ages. Kids can swing slide and do a zip line or play on a splash pad. Parents can sit around at a lot of places. There's so many good benches placed around the playground and splash pad. Friends can go for a walk along the water. They're always some kind of music festivals or some kind of events going around on in the park. Public restrooms are available under the restaurant with a family restroom as well. The spencers at waterfront is a good option but it always has a weight line and has to be booked well in advance.
Playground
Lots of swings and slides
Restrooms
There are public restrooms below the restaurant.

  • Jahyun Kim

I went to Spencer Smith Park in Burlington on a chilly Saturday afternoon. It seemed that countless flocks of geese were grazing hard on the grass. While ducks were swimming on Lake Ontario, there were not many people because the weather was cold. The park was tidied up and the decorative lights started to come on one by one. A pair of squirrels came close, probably familiar with people. By the way, you have to pay a parking fee for the parking lot attached to the park regardless of weekends, but there are parking lots that do not pay on weekends, so please check before visiting. It is recommended to visit on a warm day.

  • Snigdha Bera

Spencer Smith Park in Burlington is a tranquil and picturesque location that’s well worth a visit. Whether you’re a local looking for a peaceful retreat or a visitor exploring the area, you’ll find this park to be a delightful oasis along the shores of Lake Ontario. It’s a place where nature, art, and community converge to create a memorable experience. The park also features a playground for kids, making it a great destination for families. There’s something for everyone here, whether you’re looking for a peaceful place to read a book, a place to walk your dog, or a scenic spot to enjoy a picnic lunch.

  • Cleofe Estaras

It was a very peaceful, calm, and beautiful morning. We arrived there very early so it wasn't busy at all. It was a lovely scenery even though it's cloudy. I love listening to birds. Ducks are peacefully swimming in the beautiful and calm lake. I did not get a chance to witness the sunrise, but my husband did, and he said it was amazing.
Playground
The playground is so beautiful. No kids yet when we're there.
Restrooms
The restroom is still close .. but for sure, you will be able to find somewhere.
Picnic area
There is a picnic table and lots of benches also.

  • Alaleh - FoodyTO

The park is great for a walk, run, skating, biking or a picnic. They have great stuff to offer every season: festivals during the summer and light festivals during the winter time. The park is well-maintained and you can easily follow physical distancing protocols. The playground and splash pad are conveniently located side by side and would be great for kids to spend time there and enjoy summer. There are many restaurants and cafes in the area; especially the waterfront restaurants are a great place to enjoy both your meal and Skyway Bridge and Lake Ontario view.

  • Sridhar Kapila

It's a very nice waterfront park with promenade and pier. It's usually busy in the afternoon and evenings all thru summer. Well maintained. The pier is very nice ,with fantastic view of the lake and you can see the color of the water. Lots of play area for kids, small park, small beach with young kids can enjoy, clear water. There is miss in the water but it's ok. One can take a stroll or use a bicycle on the promenade and the pier. It's a paid parking, evenings is taken over by Spencer's for parking, you got to park in the municipal park across the road.

  • Sanghamitra Bhattacharjee

It’s a good place to visit with friends and family! A few Cherry Blossoms trees are there (trees are full with flowers), we visited on 16th April’2023. Very minimal parking cost (1 hr : 1:75$ ). Beautiful place to enjoy the Lake Ontario, you can see the Burlington bridge from here. There is a small beach, water is very clean. If you have kids then they will be very happy as there is a park and play ground as well. Stroller and wheelchair accessible. Only problem is no washrooms, however, nearby restaurants coffee shops are there!

  • Pradip Jain

I absolutely love Spencer Smith Park! It’s a hidden gem in Burlington, Ontario. The waterfront views are breathtaking, and it’s the perfect place for a peaceful stroll or a fun family picnic. The well-maintained trails, lush greenery, and the serene lake make it an ideal spot to unwind and connect with nature. The events and festivals they host here are fantastic too. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, don’t miss out on this beautiful park. Highly recommend! Plus free parking evening after 6 PM

  • Roma Rana

Spencer Smith park is so beautiful, gorgeous park especially near spring season, home to many cheery blossom trees, wonderful pathways built right at the water! Always lots to see and do here, great playground, always clean park, good for large picnics. This park has very limited parking, but when it is full one could find city parking in near by streets Along the walking path, across from the water, there is a Navy Memorial which recognizes the Canadian seamen that served in the Second World War.

  • Tavleena Marwah Kataria

I recently visited Spencer Smith Park to see the sunrise and cherry blossoms, and I must say, it was a breathtaking experience. I went early in the morning, so there were hardly any people around, and the blossoms were in full bloom. The park is well-maintained, and the lake adds to the beauty of the surroundings. I would highly recommend this park to anyone looking for a serene and picturesque spot to enjoy nature's beauty. It was an amazing experience that I won't forget anytime soon!

  • Kevin Dunphy

Spencer Smith is a beautiful lakeside park that often hosts entertaining events. Because of its close proximity to many good restaurants and cafes, you can follow up a stroll through the park with a delicious treat. Also, it is an okay spot for dog waking, however make sure your dog doesn't try to eat the goose droppings (of which there are many, depending on the season). Not a perfect score because the park is often uncomfortably crowded during the spring and summer.

  • Rubaid Khan

This is a nice oasis in the heart of Burlington. It is very clean and the playground area is great with a nice working splash pad. Parking can be tight, but can be found on the side streets if the on site spots are full. The grass and bike path are all well maintained and it is a nice view from the top of the observation deck out at the pier. There are also some nice coffee shops and restaurants nearby, so you can grab food and enjoy the beauty of the park too.

  • nivi luck

I went there to see the sakura blossom a great place to be. Parking space was full when i go there. I wanted to avoid the busy high park so it was the best option less crowded also had children’s park which was so good. Nice walk way great water front.
Playground
Amazing play area for kids
Restrooms
I did not find any
Dog-friendliness
There were lot of people walking dogs
Picnic area
Lot of picnic tables were seen

  • Evangeline Daniel

There was a huge expectation for this place to be a large area to have a picnic with high head counts.. but it is a long stretch of area to walk along the lake and a thin land area to have a place to gather and have fun activities. On a weekend, it is highly crowded and finding a good spot to sit and relax is hard.. as advised, need to go in early to find a place. But the view is good from all the sides .. a walk on the bridge etc..

  • sachin Jassal

this is a amazing place to experience Cherry blossoms , i really recommend this place if you live nearby gta or Cambridge Hamilton, its relaxing and enjoyable, you can access it as a picnic area there are swings for children and a long trail to walk while experience waterfront and at the night you have lights which is good to walk at the midnight usually this place is not much busy mus recommend..

  • Hiten Rathod

Though this park is distinguishable by its long span of waterfront park and many activities, our visit was made spectacular by the Christmas fairy lights and decorations. Presently these illuminations steal the show for both kids and newcomers. It’s very likely these can be seen at other destinations too but the waterfront backdrop and skyline makes this point a wonderful spot to visit at this time. Enjoy.

  • Ahmed

I recently this park and it was amazing! The park has a lot of green space, a pond, a playground, and a nice walking path. Best of all a nice river ealk. The park is well-maintained and clean. I enjoyed sitting on the benches and watching the ducks swim in the pond. There's also a nice picnic area if you want to bring your own food. Overall, it's a great place to relax and enjoy some fresh air.

  • Christine Payton

This was the 1st time we visited the Rib fest at this park. We loved it!!! Prices were a bit high, but everything was worth it. Vendors were very friendly food was great and the drinks were cold! The park itself is absolutely beautiful and we plan on visiting there again, and definitely will be going to next year's Rib fest. Hats off to the Rotary club and all the rib vendors for a great day!!

  • Andrew Bryntwick

We took a stroll down for the sound of music festival. It was packed as you'd expect with the lovely weekend weather. There were a lot of vendors with some neat stuff. Good food/snacks and music. The park itself is nice by the waterfront in Burlington. It's nice there even just to go see without the festival, but they do hold various events there throughout the seasons. Overall good times.

  • Anderson Kaiser

Nice and calm park to enjoy the lake. During the season you can also see some cherry blossoms but this part tends to be packed with people taking pictures. The pier and the view are great. There are plenty of parking spots around for an affordable price.
Playground
The playground has a number of different toys for kids up to 12 years. Not crowded during the week days.

  • Justin A.Y

Absolutely stunning park! During Spring time (March - May) there are cherry blossom trees located on the park that are beautiful. The park is massive and next to the water giving you a nice breeze. There is a little bridge that goes over the water to let you walk and enjoy the view. Overall, great place for a picnic date, day trip with friends, or even a romantic stroll.

  • Erdinç Peköz

We love this park very much, we always take walks and take our dogs for a walk. Dog owners haven't been carrying around many bags lately, and that doesn't look good at all. However, even in the very early hours of the morning, I see that the park is cleaned and the garbage is collected. The people of Burlington also keep the park very clean. I am happy about this.

  • Y Lim

My husband and I love to come to this park on weekends, but it gets too crowded.. You can enjoy a nice long walk along the shore, it's a barrier free park:strollers and wheelchairs friendly. There's playground as well, which is pretty cool:)
Restrooms
Only has portable washroom? It's pretty gross.. i don't know what this park doesn't build one washroom..

  • Anil Sinha

Wonderful waterfront park. Visited on 11th September. Very soothing experience. The onset of Fall was seen with very pleasant experience. Walking there was lot relaxing.
Playground
Lots of open area for leisure.
Dog-friendliness

  • Prads RK

Overall its lovely waterfront park, not too crowded. It has a paid parking, Stroller wheelchair accessible, has a nice walk way. Just a few cherry blossom trees, but they are facing the waterfront so gives a good view. Good place to sit back relax with the sound of waves in the background. . It's located in downtown so lots of options to eat nearby.

  • Solly B

Its hard to rate the park in isolation as we came for the Ribfest and that was fantastic. Great atmosphere, great food. On any ordinary day, i cant say for sure (speaking as an overseas tourist only here once) but the location is nice, right next to the lake and close to a great assortment of dining establishments. So it must be worth a visit.

  • Salvador Delgado Khassale

On the weekend I went, the weather was absolutely awesome its a great park to go with your young kids. It has 2 main areas. With water and a playground. It has lots of enjoyable things to do for your kiddos. Amazing and very good located for going to a restaurant, walking by the lake. The view amazing and good for pictures with a lake view.

  • Agha Faraz Khan

Went there on Canada Day and it was a great experience. Very family friendly place with great view of the lake. The fireworks was awesome ! The parking however is a challenge at such occassions & and something to be done about public washrooms. Nevertheless, still highly recommended.
Restrooms
Very crowded. Had long queues.

  • korey kleinwachter

Spencer Smith Park is a lovely, we'll maintained park. The view of Lake Ontario and the Burlington Skyway is Breathtaking! Great for a long walk along the waterfront, kids can enjoy the playground with slides, splashpad or even zipline. Great spot for a picnic too. Parking can be tough when it's crowded and it's paid.

  • teresa giordano

Awesome location for kids park, while kids are playing parents can also enjoy their coffee overlooking the water. Kill 2 birds with one stone!

The waterfront park is huge and well maintained. It's a nice promenade for a walk or rollerblading. Also it's breezy and surrounded by scenery of green grass and nice flowers. Little beach, pier with look out point, playground, canopy with picnic tables, garden and war memorial dedicated to the Royal Canadian Navy.

  • Aman Lakha

I always go there in Night Time, Gorgeous View beautiful lighting and mind blowing shadows of hotels and buildings in Lake Water which make scenery exceptionally awesome. In Summer wind breezes give u chills while flowing water underneath the tower area/corner offers peace and calm to the soul and body.

  • Marcelo Da Graça

And there are a vouple of shops nearby worth visiting if you get hungry or want a treat while walking.

  • Patrick Xu

Parking on site was at a rate of $1.75/h, however, just cross road, it was free in weekends. The view at the Brant Street Pier was phenomenal. The clouds added beauty to the scenery. Walked first to the Brant Street Pier, then to the Burlington Beach. It was hot, but the walk was enjoyable.

  • Annoja Selva

The park was beautiful. The parking was $1.75 per hour. The view was beautiful and the lake was so blue. The cherry blossom was nice as well, there was around 12 trees. Good park for kids to play and path for bicycle, joggers and to walk. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would recommend.

  • Abbas Plumber

We had gone to see the cherry blossom here and we were not disappointed. We didn’t want to go to high park on a Sunday as we knew it would be very busy and we can go any day on a weekday post office hours since we stay in downtown! Decided to see a new place and voila it was good!

  • Saima N

Spencer Smith Park is what downtown parks should be! Waterfront that goes on for ages, beautiful green space, splash pad, kid playground, and a beautiful pier… what a blessing to have this right downtown Burlington! Oh ya, it also has amazing festivals!

  • Amit Sibal

Great park for kids and events specially in the summer time. Nice cherry bloom flower trees in the park for the time of fall. Nice walk on the shore of Lake Ontario around park with lots of eating joint, restaurant and event Offers in the park too.

  • Diego Martinez de Hoz

Great park on Burlington lakeshore where many events are held. This particular time it was a Food Truck Fest. While there are always long lines in these kind of things, the food was great as well as the music and the place is kept extremely clean.

  • Hamed J

You won't be able to walk for long before the park ends, but the pathway is wide and it has plenty of green spaces for picnics and family gatherings or any other activities. There is kids playground. There are many restaurants around the area.

  • Stefanie Lucas

Very nice waterfront park. Beautiful view of the Burlington Skyway and lots for the kids to do. Canada Geese love it too, but parking is pricey. Small splash pad for the hot summer days as well and a place to test out the little remote boats.

  • Allen Reed

The lake park is truly stunning, well-maintained, visually striking, and exudes an enchanting, romantic atmosphere Add to this, there was kids play ground very nice, best place to walk your dog, did not see public restroom around

  • David Frizzell

The widest boardwalk I have ever been on. I like the extended walkway out to the lake. "Wow", what a 360 view of Burlington, Hamilton and Lake Ontario. Lots of grass to chill on, and can't forget the big beach.

  • Betony Morrison

Loved this park with our 3 yr old. So much great playground equipment to explore. Very different from most parks. Beautiful views. Food closeby. A perfect place for a walk with a stroller and a toddler bike.

Great park and waterfront view. Good for waking running and biking and also perfect for families and kids. The playground for kids there is very good and safe. Also there is a small beach suitable for kids.

The place is so beautiful with green spaces and kid'splaystructure. However, there are a lot of animal feces everywhere (most probably bird's dropping), which attract flies and spread bad smell.

Nice one for folks around..Went to see the Cherry Blossoms canopy.. But some folks leave the dogs unleashed in areas that seemed not specific for dogs, that felt concerning.
