The Someshwara Swamy Temple in Halasuru stands as a remarkable testament to the rich heritage of South Indian architecture and religious history. This sacred site is believed to have been initially built by the Hoysalas or Cholas, showcasing the intricacies of Dravidian architecture. However, in 1570 AD, it underwent a significant renovation under the patronage of Kempe Gowda, the founder of modern Bangalore. The temple's uniqueness is immediately evident in its sculptural marvel, with each pillar and wall adorned with distinct reliefs and intricate carvings. What sets it apart is the diversity of its pillars – no two are alike, some even feature high-reliefs resembling free-standing sculptures. The walls narrate stories through a series of reliefs, scene by scene, which is a rare and captivating feature. The legend associated with this temple claims that Kempe Gowda was inspired to build it when Lord Shiva, in the form of Someshwara, appeared to him in a dream after a hunting expedition. While this temple dates back to the 16th century, it may not be considered very old in a country like India with ancient treasures like the Ajanta Caves dating from the 2nd century BC.
The Sri Someshwara Swami Temple in Bengaluru is a sacred gem, resonating with historical charm. The temple is located in a calm and soothing place but the only problem here are the beggars at the enterance gate. Inside the temple it’s very calm and soothing and you may also e joy the beautiful and rich stone architecture of the temple. Its ancient architecture, reflecting the Vijayanagara style, is a captivating sight. The temple is Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple exudes spiritual energy, drawing devotees seeking blessings and solace. The intricate carvings and sculpted pillars tell tales of bygone eras. As a cultural and religious landmark, Sri Someshwara Swami Temple stands as a testament to Bengaluru's rich heritage and continues to be a revered pilgrimage site.

Sri Someswaraswamy temple is an ageold Siva temple situated in Halasuru (Ulsoor) Bengaluru. Gives you a very nice divine experience with good vibration. It has three four other sivan sannidhis, Navagraha, before the main deity there is siva's vaahanaa Nandhi shining with gold-like cover on, a nice scene. Overall the temple gives you a fulfilling, rich experience of Sanathana dharma being practiced in Hindu temple which is pride of our Bharatha desa.

A very beautiful ancient Shiva temple dated back to 10th century. The temple ambience instantly made me very calm and I felt very strong vibes of devotion . The main lord Shiva idol is in the inner sanctum and one can then walk around the corridor built surrounding the inner sanctum. The temple has a large area surrounding to sit down and meditate or just listen to the hymns . There’s not enough parking near the temple so please be prepared to park at a distance and walk into the temple

Very old temple - over the centuries various addition and modification done to the temple by successive South Indian kings/chieftains'. Mantapa (Hall) with strong carved pillars with various sculptures are eye catching, King Ravana lifting Mount Kailash carving can be seen near to entrance. Apart from various deities, 64 Nayanmars (Tamil Shaivaite saints) statues are worshipped here - It's rare to see Nayanmars in temples outside Tamil Nadu.

Very ancient temple. But very surprised to see an ancient temple in between houses and apartments around.i thought there are rules that say that houses and shops cannot be built around ancient protected structures. Maybe I was wrong or I might have been misguided. I guess more needs to be done towards upkeep and hygiene in and around the temple.

Divine place for all devotees. This is Lord Mahadeva Temple & also other so many small temples around it. This is structured 1000yrs back and still holds firmly. Parking is the biggest concern if you are coming by car. Roads are very narrow and parking is very very limited. Two wheeler parking can be adjusted somewhere else.

An amazing temple which contains many small temples inside, a very peaceful and calm place to relax and sit down for some peaceful time. Very close to the metro station and there's no specific parking space or area at the temple. It's hard for a four wheeler but two wheelers can park at neighbouring roads nearby.
