I visited A&E on the evening of 17/06/22 between approximately 10.00pm and 3.00am. I had a severe cornea abrasion and a laceration to my right eye, which caused temporary complete vision loss and excruciating pain. I am also pregnant with twins (high risk pregnancy). The experience at the hospital from start to finish was nothing short of traumatising. The staff (particularly the nurses) treated me with utter contempt and were aggressive. I was screaming in pain, hyperventilating and had no vision. Despite my clear distress, the nurse grabbed me, shoved me onto a chair and forcibly put a mask on my face with no warning. I was gasping for air, telling her that I couldn't breathe as I was in a state of panic over my vision loss and pain. The nurse belligerently told me that I was breathing perfectly fine. From here on in, the Doctor followed this similar behaviour. It was clear that he did not believe the severity of my injury (which he later discovered was very serious). Instead of focussing on my treatment, he asked if I had a history of anxiety (which I don't have). This had zero bearing on my care and implied that I had made it up. After 5 hours, his tune changed when he realised that I had an excruciating and serious injury to which I was transferred to an Ophthalmologist at St George's Hospital. The staff did not at any point check in on my pregnancy. On informing me that I needed to be transferred to St George's, they simply told me to get 'public transport' at 3.00am, despite the fact I had no vision, in severe pain and heavily pregnant. The care in this hospital shocked me to my very core and I am still in trauma from the whole experience. The aggressive and bad language from the staff was beyond anything I have ever seen in the NHS and it was clear that all patients were in distress over this.

I really want to personally express my gratitude to the paediatric team from children A&E team. Dr Rebecca, nurse Heidi, Marianna ,Ellen and all the nurses on the night shift 20/09/22 into the morning / evening 21/09/22 that were on that shift were exceptional. For about 3 months I have been going on and off to the doctors saying they is something wrong with my daughter and for months I received the same explanation from a few doctors apart from one doctor. "It's a virus kids are bound to get them at this age" which is true but my concern was the length and the sound of breathing. The day before I went to St George A&E who said the same advice less than 24 hours my daughter had multiple wheezing episodes resulting in her oxygen levels to drop considerably and fluctuate. Right away our daughter was seen attended too all the nurses and doctors that interacted with our daughter were passionate about their level of care, friendly, helpful and kind. They were so professional and on the ball with treatments monitoring and next steps. To be heard as a parent when you know something is fundamentally wrong with your child and to have staff actually do more than a standard check up, but investigate the root issue is vital. So a massive thank you from our family to the children's department at St Heliers. This isn't just a one off experience anytime my children have been seen at the hospital it always exceptional service and care. In addition I would like to shoutout the maternity department at St Heliers an absolutely great department. I had my second daughter in late 2021 our delivery midwife Jo was amazing and sonographers and Amber midwifery team were absolutely brilliant. I would definitely recommend these departments.

I went to A&E because of ongoing pelvic pain. After waiting for more than five hours and half of the other patients who arrived after me being seen before me (am not a doctor but at least some did not look sicker than me), I asked the receptionist whether it was a case of discrimination, given that I have a Russian surname. I was at all times polite and certainly did not raise my voice. I received a bullying response and was yelled at, while the other receptionist seemed to condone the behaviour of her colleague. I was also threatened that she would complain about me after I said I would make a complaint and I was intimidated. Complain about what? Such intimidating and arrogant attitude is unacceptable towards vulnerable patients who also happen to fund the NHS and staff salaries with their taxes. It is my right to complain about discrimination in a polite way. The hospital can disagree, but certainly it’s not an open door to bullying patients. Someone like this should be kept very much away from vulnerable patients. She caused me anxiety and I cannot imagine if it was someone even weaker in my place. My grandma died last week, I was feeling sick and had waited alone for more than five hours in E&A, so clearly rude behaviour was the last thing I needed. I am even afraid to make a complaint because who knows what she and her colleague would make up. I hope other patients will complain about them though and some measures will be taken. There were lots of warnings played in the waiting room asking patients not to abuse staff, but surely the rule applies the other way around too. It wouldn’t harm checking in on NHS staff too, from time to time and reminding them that these rules also apply to them.

Male nurses don’t care even called them a few times absolutely ignored, but the female nurses are more helpful. overall can’t give more than 3 star rating with the service I’ve received not very organized been here for 8 hours now with a bad asthma attack & chest infection, still haven’t talk to a doctor to ask what is the exact issue. When they changing the bed position for the oxygen which will take few minutes and then after when they need to make it to the back position(as no control available for bed!) they don’t care and leave the patient on seat position for long time and have to be lucky to get someone to change the bed position. Also when the ambulance wanted to hand over me to the hospital we wait some times for them to clean the room which it shouldn’t as the ambulance confirm with the hospital that we are coming with a emergency needed patient, and also told the hospital the ETA. And when the A&E nurse bring the bed and said that the bed is clean and ready we could see clear marks on the bed and the ambulance team did also release that and got a blanket to cover the hospital bed which the hospital should do this not the ambulance team. Also doctors are don’t have much answer after done all checks and scans they just go with what I telling them and that means if at any point I do not describe correctly they can also give incorrect information. Anyway I do really appreciate NHS and god blessed them for all their help but as a patient if you get better care it dose actually help more and makes the patient feel more comfortable and relaxed as getting the good care.

This place is absolutely hectic, but the quality of care has always been top. I was advised to go to their A&E back in February by 111. It was so busy, but how rushed they were was not reflected in the way that everyone I spoke to made me feel they had time for me and listened to what I was saying. Following that visit I was admitted to the surgical assessment unit. Again, incredibly hectic but they still had time for everyone. Time to listen to us all, to comfort people, to make sure we were all okay and to keep us all informed. The nurses here work such long hours and some people are incredibly rude to them but they still carry on being wonderful despite all that. I felt that they went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and were incredibly kind and respectful. At every stage, I felt I was well informed and knew what to expect from both nurses and the surgical team. Not only that, but they did the same when providing very high quality after care over a few weeks, this unit is full of wonderful, amazing people who genuinely deserve a raise and a holiday. I had some great advice that really helped. Even visiting the consultant for the post surgery check up was smooth- he’s a really nice guy, made sure I knew and understood all the possible outcomes and what to expect and the appointment was absolutely bang on time. All around incredible care from everyone I’ve interacted with here, what I was there for was not pleasant and was the most painful thing I have ever experienced but everyone who helped me made it so much more bearable. Thank you so much!

On Sunday, my Partner went to A&E cause of having lower abdomen pain since Saturday. They did tests, complete blood count, pregnancy test, etc. They didn’t believe her much in the beginning as abdominal pain is never taken seriously anyway. After spending 4/5 hrs in A&E she was sent to a Ward where she waited for about 3 hours before a nurse came around and asking what she was waiting for. She told the entire story again. The nurse came back 10 minutes later saying they lost the paperwork. Apparently they found it later. The hospital took her in giving her painkillers and doing more checks. The following Monday in the morning we started asking for all the results, blood count, smear test, and ultrasound to be given a copy (which is in her rights to do so and by law to receive them immediately) to hand those copies to someone else and ask for a second opinion as the doctors, apparently, found nothing so far. The entire day we were told they are working on it. By 7pm the doctor went home and the nightshift doctor basically refused to hand out the copies. Later they verbally forced blood thinner on her even though she refused due to her anxiety. She was already not feeling well. On top of that NONE of the doctors believes her pain. Only after she startet crying during test, as they were truly hurting her, they started to believe that she is in pain. The hospital has a big lawsuit coming. I don’t know who they think they are but they’ve violated several laws until now that will have consequences.

ENDOSCOPY. I had an Endoscopy procedure today. The waiting time was a bit long and miscommunication between reception and doctors/nurses resulted in delays for the patient. The receptionist needs to adjust his attitude towards patient when they are enquiring about something, he seemed bothered or very impatient when answering. The nurses were AMAZING. The ones that i can remember are Liz and Joanna. Liz is very patient and took time to reassure me and explain everything in details, i asked a lot of questions due to me being extremely nervous and anxious about the procedure. Joanna and her team again were super reassuring towards me and talked me through every bit of it, this made me feel so comfortable and also made me feel like i was genuinely being well looked after and cared for. I felt i was in really safe hands. The after care with Liz was again very pleasant. I want to say a big thank you to everyone in the Endoscopy department at St Helier. It definitely makes a huge difference for the patient to feel better. The Endoscopy department was very clean and hygienic. Thank you thank you and thank you.

Thought that going to St Helier A&E might be a better experience than Croydon University Hospital however it ended up being the worst anyone can ever imagine. Not only They haven't got the competent staff but lying straight to your face that you will be seen shortly. 5 hours after my blood was taken i did not hear anything. At one point everyone that was sat in the lobby was just sitting and waiting. For over 2.5h hours NOBODY was called. After 7 hours of waiting i decided to leave to which the nurse warned me that i was going against a medical advice - which was what again Absolute joke the NHS has turned into. Sadly we will be paying the overpriced private hospitals in order to get our matter looked into. On top of everything all of the junkies were gathered inside sleeping in all corners police officers came in roughly 5 times bringing in people and did not even tbink of getting them out. Stinky, dirty and not even close to good hygiene place. Avoid and go to the next nearest. Might be lucky but i doubt - NHS must be retired and peoples taxes refunded to the last penny.

I sadly had a miscarriage and had to get a procedure done, obviously my heart was broken. From the early pregnancy unit I got so much kindness, Alison the sonographer and Cathy the midwife spoke to me with such gentleness and kindness. The day of the op the nurses, consultants and everyone I was in contact with also were so kind. The porter was a man in his 50s with white hair (maybe a Scottish accent), I didn't get his name but he cudnt have been kinder and said just the right things at just the right time to me. Sese the nurse post op also said the right kind words to me. Sadly after my op I seen another women with Cathy and it looked like she had also found out about a miscarriage and I could see her receiving the same care and compassion. Receiving that support in my most vulnerable time can't be measured but I know it's made my horrible experience so much more easy to cope with. Thank you to everyone I seen.Claire.x

AS a PS. I have just been discharged from the eye unit following cataract surgery. Also, earlier from Epsom Orthopaedic Centre. To be out of pain and to be able to see clearly is such a huge relief. In this difficult time within the NHS as a carer I had begun to lose hope....but thankfully I have my life back. Brilliant. For the government not to recognise the huge contribution NHS staff give to the health of the nation, is just WRONG. Words are not enough....staff shouldn't have to resort to food banks. Shame on you. Anne Whitburn 17th August, 2023. For a very long time I have been struggling with chronic pain following a bad fall. How so relieved and thankful, then, that I met with a clinician in the Pain Clinic, he was gave me hope. He listened attentively and treated me with respect. Thank you so much. The relief of which was so profound, I felt immediate cared for. Thank you so much.

  • Elliot-Isaac Turner

wish i could rate this a zero star place. had my mum, who may i add would NEVER go to a hospital unless absolutely necessary because of the past experiences here, crawl up a half an hour walk there in pain for them to turn her away without offering more than a few painkillers and telling her to travel an extra half an hour to get her own supplies and then just let a crying unable to walk bleeding woman to manage herself getting back home. saying well if you still experience the bleeding and pain for the next two weeks come back? TWO MORE WEEKS? ARE YOU SERIOUS? she has been in pain and bleeding and caring for herself spending money she cant afford to on supplies to help her situation and seeked help from people who study for YEARS to HELP PEOPLE WHO NEED IT. AND THEY TURNED AWAY SOMEONE WHO NEEDED HELP. WHAT IS THAT. DO BETTER. BE BETTER.

Went for 2pm app for endoscopy. I was sent no information letters. I had to ring and enquire for myself as to when I should eat ect . Anyway I am on continuous pain relief which I take in water and I was not allowed this for two hours before my appointment , at 3.45 I am still waiting to be seen, I am in severe pain and I am really stressed as I’m not having sedation. This is not my first bad experience in this unit, it’s a joke, no organisation or care whatsoever. I asked a nurse when I would be seen and I was told that it could be up to 4 hours. . It’s so distressful knowing what you’re going to have done, the reason you are having it done and then the treatment I had to endure . I just want to get up and walk out as my nerves are shot and my pain excruciating. Nothing has improved in this unit over the years and it’s a disgrace .

The worst hospital by far. The reception staff have no empathy and they basically treat you as they don’t want you there. I was told by one of the receptionist that I am lucky that I am still in the waiting area after 6 hours of waiting at 5am when I am in agony. I had to leave without being seen after 6 hours of wait because they keep changing the waiting time. I was told the waiting time was 4.5 hours then it went to 5.5 then 6.5 then 7.5… it’s ridiculous. I have full respect for NHS staff but these staff made me more sick. They need to understand people don’t go to hospital a&e to chill or just hangout, they do because they are unwell and in so much pain. The reception staff need a proper training on patient care. Treat others the way you want to be treated! Would not recommend it at all.

Having been referred here by dr for x rays and blood tests i was not expecting the superb service i received. I had a bone scan booked at 10.15 was seen 15 min early, i had also been put in the xray queue so that as soon as bone acan was done i would be next. Again straight through and xrayed within 10 mins. I then had blood test booked for 1215, arrived at 11 not expecting to be seen early but seen at 1120, unfortunately the person doing blood was quite rude and could not get needle in so was moved to another lady and did it straight away, gave me email address to complain. I then a week later had a ct scan booked for 845, arrived at 8.10 and was in and out by 8.20 not even having to be fleeced at car park. So a big shout out to xray and scanning and the blood lady.

  • chris andrew

This was my first and hopefully last time. Arrived at 12.30 to be told there was a 5 hour wait to see the doctor. This turned into 9 hours with no update or information that there were further delays. You are made to sit on hard plastic seats with no refreshments as the machine is broken and not one person has the ability to offer another human a hot drink. Where is the duty of care? To make matters worse, a young lad was brought in by the police in handcuffs for stealing a car, which left him with a bruised elbow. Don't need to tell you who was in and out and seen by the doctor in just a few hours...staff on reception could learn empathy as your made to feel a burden if you ask them a question, this just adds to my views on the NHS crumbling. What a shame.

My mother who had terminal cancer was stationed in the B1 Whitfield Unit. Doctors were very rude and showed no sympathy as well as nurses. We told them that we didn’t feel comfortable with my mothers partner as he fiddled up with her syringe driver and she was subject of domestic violence while she lived with him. My siblings and I tried to protect her from this person but the nurses just ignored our cry for help. They let the abuser in and out because he was next of kin on papers. Something like this would never happen in Germany. I’m so disgusted on how British people treat their patients. Hence the nightmares about her stay until she passed away in this hospital are still haunting me. I can’t sleep or eat and struggle with mental health.

I gave birth in St Helier Hospital in 2019 and I was really worried after reading some really bad reviews on how the midwives are really rude and how you will be sent home as they don’t really wonna do their job. Well, I must tell you this is totally NOT the case! This was my first baby and I must say that midwives and doctors are the best. I cannot thank them enough. They were all really nice and very supportive. Believe me i was giving birth for about 16 hours and there were 3 shifts of midwives helping me while I was in labour. If I need to choose a place to give birth for my next child- I will definitely go there again! Thank you, to all of you in the Women’s ward, who helped me have my son, you were great and truly amazing!!!!

No stars is what this hospital deserves. My elderly father went to A&E and was there all night given antibiotics but no tests or investigations. Consultant Amir Hussain in majors asked us if the nurse knew anything, we explained that the nurse asked us if the doctors had come by and knew nothing, he then threw his head back and laughed. A consultant! He Clearly knows what a dump this place is. What tops it off is he was diagnosed with appendicitis even though he had his appendix taken out about 40years ago! Absolutely appauling! how this place functions is beyond me. We self discharged and went to St George's, a proper hospital, where staff there were in agreement with how pathetic St helier is. Save yourself and don't bother

  • marialess1

Terrible. We had the bad luck of being in children's emergency department 3 times and it has been terrible. Our LG is 14 months old and ALWAYS has to wait at least 6h to be examined. Last time we came following the NHS website advice and it was such a mistake. There is always one doctor and 100000 nurses, not helpful as they don't see the patients and dont have many information. The waiting area is pathetic, so small that parents and children have to sit on the floor. When you are finally seen, it is only for 10min and it is always "fine", even if your baby can't breathe. I don't understand why we pay so much taxes. I would rather not to pay for it and get private doctors. It is unacceptable that babies do not have priority.

  • namyelus do

We had to go to A&E by ambulance; car crashed me ; would do X-Ray and will see result . only for that we waited 8 hours !! I could not believe.. Look like telling do not come hospital! If you come you can die ? We saw one patient was crying can not walk with pain at least 2 hours, she still was waiting.. some staff were not friendly as well. they were busy; maybe not enough staff; but no, no.. hospital should not be like that ! make you scare; look like do not care people urgent or not; waiting 8-10 or not!!! they do not care patient, people.. very bad service...Disappointed...unfortunately Government or who incharge for that they interested in; look after hospitals.... .

  • liam firlej

my baby was born here , staff watched her slowly die whilst i said on repeat i do not think she can breathe. i was ignored over and over again whilst they literally watched my baby die infront of me . my daughter actually died after birth due to staff negligence whilst they joked and played music on the radio. if it was not for a nurse named chi chi . my daughter would have never have survived . she came on shift instantly saw something was wrong and revived my daughter . That nurse who saw my daughter for 2 seconds knew something was wrong . the other five people in that delivery room literally watched my child die and did nothing said nothing . it was horrible .

  • Carmen Borg

Honestly if I could give this place 0 stars I would. Do not even consider a&e here. I arrived to a&e just about conscious struggling to breathe with severe abdominal pain. I waited 3.5 hours to be seen by the nurse who was extremely rude and swore in front of me, she spoke at me for 2 minutes before telling me to wait 7/8 hours for the doctor .. reception wasn’t rude and made sure everyone heard your business. A crazy man kept following me around, asked reception to be moved into another area, said I just had to ignore him as ‘he’s always here’…. So much more happened including giving me the wrong pain relief for my symptoms… shocking honestly

  • Julie Raper

I fell ill and went to A and E as it was a Sunday and doctors closed. It was crowded and I didnt know how I was going to be able to wait as I felt so bad. I saw nurse within minutes who checked me over and sent me straight through. It turned out I had sepsis and pneumonia. A doctor saw me straight away I was given blood test fluid and sent for xray. Everything happened so quick. The care I got couldn't have been better and after a week in hospital followed by daily visits for intravenous anti biotics. The staff were great and work really hard so please dont criticise them when its people who go for minor problems that clog up the system.

  • Mrs AL

The place where no one can be bothered. Nurses do blood pressure and that’s it. They’re not interested in helping patients who need assistance with getting to the loo, they are not even interested in patients who have mobility issues. They just don’t give a toss. The place is a mess, my mother was placed in a bed where someone else’s sick bucket was left on the side, containing sick, along with their dirty tissues etc. The bays are supposed to be cleaned in between patients but you have to do it yourself! My sister had to change my mums bed sheets for her! Dirty, disgusting, ward nurses with bad attitudes, unhelpful, disgraceful.

  • karen mcneil

Worst place ever, rude lying staff. A and e , orthopaedic and endoscopy are quite the nastiest healthcare staff I 've had to deal with. I wish I could leave a no star review. Also, further to this, orthopedic department is is the most toxic place ever.rude lying staff, who actually smirk at you, because you ask how long is the wait, bullied by hca staff and gibbed off with unqualified registrar doctor, not to see the consultant that I actually need to see, nastiest people ever, rude lying disgusting attitude, mind you if I offerd to pay private money,it would be all smiles etc, and no problem for anything.

  • nancy daniels

What I experience in St helier hospital after I was referred from epsom hospital for emergency surgery, made me scared of nhs, nurses and care assistants don't give a damn, doctors are rude and will disclose your medical information to all the workers there, no information is kept private, you are treated as if you are rejected, after a surgey which nearly end my life on this earth due to their carelessness I went through hell in their hands, they cover up things, mess up with medication and lie, when you are discharged you will be discharged like a criminal. all they care about is their salary.

  • Geeyana Sukun-Samjowan

My comments do not include comments relating to the triage nurse (who was kind enough to not ignore me and request one of the doctors ignoring me to please see to us). We waited here for 2 hours whilst I watched 2 doctors sit at computers and choose not to see kids when there were 3 more kids left to be seen. I stood infront of them with my 5 month in my hand and was completely ignored! I get you may have paperwork, I get you're tired, I get you may feel underpaid, but my 5 month old baby is not responsible for your circumstances, she is an innocent child needing your help. You are ridiculous.

  • Xiyi _strawberry

not the best hospital both of my parents went there. first my parents went there cause of the eye i dont wanna go into details about what happened we waited for 2hours and still didnt get check and told us to come back to wait for another 1hour. 2nd my parent went there for some problem again dont want to go into details they mad the problem more worse sending us to different places for check ups and more waiting so we couldnt wait longer so my parent went back to her country to do the surgery there, a year after we can they still sent letters of making us wait longer.

  • Benjamin Oliver

The worst A&E I’ve ever been to. First time I took my girl friend and they mixed up her blood tests… in the end it was a critical mistake as it was realised she had dangerously low Haemoglobin levels and was eventually put into urgent care. Last time I checked myself in there were 5 people in the waiting room and the waiting time was over 6 hours and there was only 2 doctors on shift, I was also told I couldn’t leave the waiting room or I’d be immediately taken off the list, an necessary threat that was clearly on a whim and felt like a violation of human rights

  • Ian W

Clearly understaffed. Took my 13 month old baby who's had a high temperature throughout the last couple of days after being advised by 111. Been waiting for HOURS, it's 00:40am and instead of getting the much needed rest she needs, my daughter is stuck waiting for results of a test. To add insult to injury, I am not even allowed to sit with my partner and daughter in the waiting area. Nice staff, but will not be coming back to this hospital again due to this experience. Will definitely go to St. George's next time where the staff levels are higher.

  • annie still

Waiting 4 months for results on a echocardiagram. Whenever I ring and tell them to get the doctor that's dealing with it to ring me Bck they don't. He called me 3 months ago now to speak to me about my results I missed the call and he hasn't rang back since . Absolutely disgusting hospital most of the staff don't have a clue what there talking about . Told me I could of had a blood clot in my lung and gave me an injection incase i did when I didn't! Will go up St Georges from now on. And the receptionists in a&e are rude stuck up ppl!

  • Natasha Bella

I would not recommend. I had an awful experience with the A&E staff. I felt that she took advantage of me as a vulnerable patient as she was rude and dismissive and took no responsibility when I later made a complaint and lied. Which is an abuse of power. There was no apology for her behaviour or actions taken to improve her skills working with patients. I will not be accessing at Heliers facilities again. It is concerning that they would employ staff like this and disappointing as I left in distress.

  • Sarah Culyer

I booked an OOH GP appointment on the NHS website and was overwhelmed with how quick and efficient the service was. I completed the online form at 8am and got a call 15-20 mins later asking me to come in to St Helier at 11:20am! A striking difference to what I’m used to at the moment. Once there, I was seen really quickly and didn’t wait too long. Receptionist was really lovely and the doctor was very helpful! I’m not sure whether the OOH GP is just better?? But I had a good experience overall.

Amazing care and support from the labor and maternity ward at St. Heliers hospital . We felt 100% confident at all times in the level of care, monitoring and advice they gave us over a 4 day window of the start of contractions to leaving with our baby. It was a long birth with a couple of small complications resolved very quickly and efficiently. The staff are a good mix of seasoned & competent medical professionals/midwifes supported by very bright, able and motivated students. Thank you team!

  • George Young

I dislocated and fractured my shoulder and socket and got processed , seen by the nurse and X-ray within 90 minutes. Further to that, they organised an appointment at the fracture clinic within 2 weeks and my appointment was at 9 am and I was seen at 9am. I was told that the MRI team would contact me within 2 weeks to organise a scan, they contacted me as I was driving out of the car park and booked me in within 3 days. Awesome service and god bless the NHS

Have been seen here on a number of occasions never had a bad experience and yesterday I had a gastroscopy where I must say from start to finish was very quick and every single member of staff was fantastic from Maria a theatre nurse who assessed me and put my cannula in to the lady who did my procedure Joanna everyone was so kind and thoughtful and I would definitely give them all 5 stars they helped me face my worst fear and I'm ever so grateful thankyou st helier

  • Katie V

Just walked back from the St Helier hospital for my x-ray appointment. I was greeted by the staff at the main entrance leading to Block A. Very friendly and helpful. She pointed the surgical face mask that all visitors must wear to enter. In fact, all staff that I interacted with today are friendly, polite and nice. Hospital is very clean including the toilet. The procedure was painless, quick and straightforward. Thank you for your help today with my health issue.

  • Siddhi Joshi

Absolutely brilliant NHS hospital and genuinely caring doctors and nurses and staff members who deserve a British Empire Medal for their services to healthcare, especially Mary Moore Ward and ICU, renal, maternity department, Queen Marys, psychiatry and chaplaincy for mental health support. The Medical team of St Helier Hospital really deserve a British Empire Medal. Keep St Helier Accident and Emergency Open and keep up the good work!

  • Karina Cardinalli

We got an appointment at the OOH office, the doctor was laughing while my husband was complaining of the pain he has been having despite taking antibiotics and very strong painkillers. He asked: what do you thing I should do? To what we responded, we are not the doctor, you are! Honestly so frustrating. He said that the best think is to wait the pain to go away. He could at least pretend he cared instead of having a stupid smirk. 0/10

  • Sue Lilley

After an accident to face and hand , needing stitches, whilst a very long wait due to a full A and E department the staff from reception, nursing and doctors were excellent, thorough, kind and very professional. I had a face/head scan, hand xray, stitches to both hand and face. Just a few days later a call to have orbital fracture checked..the NHS is under severe shortages of staff and stress but tgere was no lack of excellent care.

Had to visit A&E yesterday as I sliced my finger which was still pouring with blood an hour later, anytime I let go of it. Was seen really quickly. Nurses were all very friendly and caring. Special thanks to the nurse who glued the poor finger back again... she tried extra hard and didn't have to do any stitches (it was close)! I really really appreciated the help and left feeling supported and finally safe to let go of the injury!

Busy Casualty dept. Monday morning, arrived with a shoulder fracture. processed by the front desk and then called by Janika who was fantastic, checked me over and sent me for X-roy. She interpreted x-ray and spotted fracture , confirmed by CT. Back thurs to see consultant , operation next week. A very slick operation! In the US, I'd be looking @ around 20k. i'll take the 4 hour wait any day. Thanks to all the wonderful staff James

Was admitted by ambulance and paramedics due to chest pain and dizziness. A&E efficient and was then taken to a bed in the Hub where I stayed overnight. Fairly quiet atmosphere but busy. Appreciated the staff speaking to patients respectfully. Personally saw several doctors and medication altered before I went home. Compared to other hospitals this stands out as my personal best. Caring attitude from staff and supportive.

My husband received hip replacement last week, and he is currently staying in hip fracture unit at St Helier hospital. All the doctors, nurses, physio therapists and occupational therapists, cleaners and chefs are so hard-working, polite and so kind to him. They always cheer him up while they are so busy with their work. They are so amazing. Every food they provide him looks yummy too. I can't thank them enough.

  • Aziz Nimuchwala

If you want a hospital that will give you the service you require them please stay away from this hospital. The staff is horrible in terms of punctuality, discipline and biased to different customers. I waited for 12 hours to get symptoms of pneumonia checked in an urgent setting and couldn't receive help. Disgrace of a hospital. Please safe yourselves and find a different hospital.

  • John Connor

The hospital not bad but the pharmacy is a disaster. I’m not sure is the unprofessional management or just the overloaded workers. I had to wait 3hour for an eye drop. And you have no chance to get from a different place only from this pharmacy. Ridiculous. And of course I have to pay the fee for a factory made eye drop. Is there any department supervising this tragic store?

  • Suzanne Van Zyl

From reception to x ray department to A+ E department. Everyone in these departments including porters I asked for directions were helpful, friendly, warm and professional. A+ E department had continuous updates about waiting times. Staff were professional and seemed happy to be there. My waiting time was not as long as I'd thought it would be. Thank you all.

  • Heather JC

After going into labour 10 weeks early with my twins, the staff on the labour ward and the neonatal ward are absolutely amazing. The neonatal ward in particular makes me feel so reassured that my babies are getting the best care. All the staff in there cannot do enough for you and take a genuine interest in my babies and me. Lovely staff and amazing care.

  • Lizzie Glynn

Never,Never will i set foot in this part of the hospital again.I had a very, very rude eye consultant, who if went to a charm school should ask for its money back.Left hospital in tears after her having a go at me for cancelling on appointment as i eas sick through yhe antibiotics they gave me for the eye infection. Thats how good she was.Yep folk's

We had to go to A&E to have my daughters ankle X-Rayed after a fall at school. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful even though they were incredibly busy. We were there in the evening around 7pm. We were only there for a maximum of 2.5 hours, I was very impressed with this time and the level of care provided. Thank you.

  • Geri

Arrived early at 7.50am for blood test at 8.35am. Even though phlebotomists were free, the receptionist did not send me through... though she did fit in people who turned up without appointments. Even when my appointment time came, I still didn't get called in, that is, not until she saw me leaving a 1 star Google review!

  • Severina Ruseva

They gaves appoitments but always are late. İ am waiting more than 1 hour and still nobody doesn't know when I am goin to be see from a doctor.İf I not was pregnat and not was emporten for me I was thinking to leave. I attended today for procedure at the dental unit.. absolutely wonderfully kind dental nurse, Samantha, to acompassionate efficient dental surgeon.(sorry I didn't catch his name) Everything went swiftly and professionally. All my nervousness was cared for and I went away feeling very well looked after. Thankyou staff

  • Fit with Vero

Every time I visit the hospital I get very nice treatment from the staff members. I have visited for many different reasons to this day and no matter the department everyone is very nice. It’s a clean hospital, the restaurant is good with different catering options. Plenty of parking space! No complaints at all.

  • Hubert Rozynski

Congratulations to this NHS clinic for loosing my tests data which are processed digitally in XXI century. You should be ashamed even for saying such a thing. This is a mediocre! Now I need to wait more than 2 weeks in my GP for new appointment, then I can come for a new tests. Are you even serious?!

  • Mary Camilleri

Came through Emergency to Haematology and was treated with great sensitivity and professionalism throughout. From consultants downwards each member of staff took a personal interest in my personal needs and medical history, consulting my doctor's regularly and following up on their advice immediately

  • Thiri Nyunt

Just went to UTC GP at St.Helier. Waiting time was only an hour and the staff were nice and helpful. Moreover, Dr Richard was really kind and very professional. My GP couldn’t see me face to face and only telephone appointment for my terrible coughing for long. Thank you Dr and staffs at St.Helier.

  • Yunis Mohammad

Even one star is too much for this hospital. I attended A&E around 22:30. And there was about 7 patients before me, I stayed all night and I was called at 6:30. I waited 8 hours. On the information screen it was showing 2.5 hours waiting time. Very bad service and very rude staff. So disappointed.

  • Fiona G

Disgusting treatment of elderly patient on discharge. Left in excrement for 3 hours. Came out with a chest infection she never had on arrival. Left catheter in, and provided no bags for carers to change. Treatment on ward good - but no care at discharge stage Left patient scared of hospitals!!

  • Tristan Hawkins

Went to children's A&E with a poorly 4-year-old after calling 111. We were taken through within a couple of minutes and checked over and monitored by nurses and doctors immediately. Communication was excellent throughout explaining what they were doing and why. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

  • ruby sandhu

What an incredible team right from the ambulance to the Intensive care unit - - two weeks care and can’t thank you enough for the care, love, professionalism, kindness and going beyond the call of duty. I now understand why the caring profession at all levels is “a calling”. Thank you …

  • Leanne Jacklin-Grey

The lady at reception was so friendly and helpful. My nurse was amazing, she managed to get my bloods first time and pain free…which has never happened for me before, she’s new to the team but clearly a natural. Always such a great service here, today especially. Thanks everyone!

  • Sid Rodrigues

If there was a zero score for this hospital I’d mark it as that. It’s a shame that all their systems are shambolic. I feel sorry for the staff. I’m on day three of trying to leave feedback via their text bot. But I have no faith that it’ll be resolved within the next five years.

  • Adeel Mazhar

Most efficient blood sampling experience I've ever had, pre booked a slot arrived on time, and from arrival to leaving I'd say it was maybe 3 minutes total. Staff all nice and respectful, did all the security checks before sticking the needle in me as well. Thoroughly impressed.

  • Zara wali

The service at the blood test unit is absolutely terrible. We waited for 30 minutes and our names finally came up 45 minutes later. The staff are absolutely useless when we asked them what is taking so long they said there’s a long queue. NHS is rubbish now, please sort this.

  • Brenda Andrews

Had a procedure today on B4 day surgery ward. Nurses and all doctors were very good at communicating all aspects of the procedure. I had a few questions which they answered fully and without rushing me. Great NHS service. Special thanks to Louise who really looked after me.

  • Samantha Holdstock

OUR NHS SHOULD STILL BE APPLAUDED AND APPRECIATED BY THE UK EVERY WEEK THURSDAYS AT 8PM ALSO OUR POLICE FORCE AND OUR FIRE SERVICES! SHOULD OF KEPT GOING AFTER THE FIRST PANDEMIC IN 2020. I WOULD STILL PARTICIPATE IN THE CLAP!

  • D B

Mr P Thomas from the Vascular Surgery Clinic seemed more interested in personal information rather than caring for the patient. Felt like I was being interrogated about my personal circumstances which made my feel awful and upset. Left the appointment upset crying.

  • Ramesh Hariharan

Systematic planning, proper advice and direction. Using available resources effectively, kaizen. Patiently attending to gynecology matters. Thank you doctors, nurses and staff. Irrespective of being an expat, my family received equal medical attention in 2004.

  • Sue Treversh

Had gynaecology issues. Excellent service on a Saturday. Seen on time, procedure fully explained, carried out with local anaesthetic. Consultant really helpful and gave me good advice. Other staff friendly, considerate and helpful. Thank you to all involved.

  • Bernessa Meuleman

Worst hospital I ever attended receptionist is rude. They make the elderly wait for hours and then the increased the waiting times. Nurses do not come out to check on the patients after they given painkillers. Been sitting in hospital more than 9 hours.

  • Mat Wild

A huge sprawling mess of a hospital, almost no parking facilities and surrounded on all sides by a council estate that is residents parking only. They’ve had 100 years to plant the odd tree in this area. But haven’t. Would benefit from demolition.

  • shamim kamillah

hospital needs improving in terms of the a&e system, communication (I had to ask almost 50 times and wait 4 days to see a doctor at a ward in which they had no clue to what my problem was) hygiene in wards ( no one had mopped the floors the

Absolutely no duty of care, my fiance is ready to give birth and needing rest and is put in a ward with other patients playing loud tvs well after 9.pm, across the room another patient is having a phone conversation and the bed next to hers

  • Mark Ram

Very pleased with my experience of this hospital. I arrived in the morning, everything was clean and I was guided to where I needed to go by a nurse who was passing by. In the department where I was for my procedure, I met the receptionist

Had an apt booked for months and moved heaven and earth to ensure I could get to it. Only to have a letter telling me it was changed. I wouldn’t mind this on its own. These things happen. But I couldn’t make that date, so I rang to try and

08-30 appointment in the Cardio unit for an ECG and ultrasound. Seen on time. Ultrasound carried out and monitor fitted. Back in my car by 09-03 Expert Staff. Fantastic facility! Thank you for all you do.

  • Sarah Goodwin

Very efficient, paediatric A&E had my son seen, x-rayed and heading home within 2 hours. Might have been longer had bones actually been broken and if they were busier. Thankful none the less.

  • durim shimaj

Not have professional doctors. after 3 hours of waiting, a "doctor" came out and without performing any examination, he only gave me an antibiotic and said to leave, in the most arrogant way.

  • Cross Housing Management

Nightmare / ordeal. Disgusting / slippery entrance to the Pathology ward. Crowded reception room and even had some criminals mixing with ordinary folks carefree. I felt a little intimidated.

  • Sarah Omer

My daughter gave birth at St Helier’s hospital. The staff was amazing very friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The whole team of labour ward and maternity ward was very professional.

  • Elis Hyusein

Horrible reception, made me wait for 3 hours without even asking me if i have seen the nurse so if im Booked in, she jus told me to sit and wait. It was a lady in the right corner,

  • Bushra Tariq

This review is for Dr Rosheen in X-ray department. She and 2 nurses with her( laura and I dont remember name of other), they were extremely helpful and nice to me. 5 stars for them.

  • Farhan Ghalib

Been a few times in the last few months. Used to be a wonderful hospital but as with rest of the NHS going downhill. A&E is the worst with long waiting queues and rude staff.

  • K Mistry

Most of my experiences of being in this hospital have been good. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lots of parking however it can be full at peak times. 30mins free parking.

  • Rebecca Shoe

You don't want to have to get a prescription in the hospital; the pharmacy seems understaffed with a team working under pressure with very long waits for every patient.

  • Sally Treadaway

I would just like to thank all the A&E staff for their care for my grandson yesterday. Everyone of them were amazing from the doctor who saw him and pushed for all his

  • Sharif Md Parvez

I used to visit this hospital earlier but service is not very good. No receptionist sometimes at the main entrance. Extremely long waiting time to be seen by a doctor.

  • Barbara Valentini

Waiting time of 6 hours which is unaccettable. Receptionists rude, not even speaking a correct English! They were totally unable to address patients' concerns!

  • Jenifer Stammers

I went with an open fracture a nd whilst it was busy, I had amazing care and kindness. My arm was an absolute mess but they put it back together skilfully

  • Kazza M12345

Been to a number of hospitals given my father's battle with cancer. This is the worst of the lot. Nurses don't seem to care much or check patients at all.

  • Sakinah Thomas

The worst hospital ever! The last two times I have come here under A&E and urgent care has left me traumatised. If you value your life don’t come here

  • Bobbi

Heard doctor’s talking rudely and sarcastically about patients and even to patients. However the nurses that dealt with me were lovely.

  • Felix C (Island_yute)
