My mother recently went and I had all the hopes it would go well after reading all the reviews...she went to have a standard knee replacement from Dr Tran which she really didn't want to have done and unfortunately contracted Staph in the hospital. She had to have her knee flushed twice and it turned into sepsis and had to go in intensive care and high dependency ward for weeks. She nearly died...had fluid on her lungs and liver and kidney damage and is now home in agony and doctors won't prescribe her the pain management She had in hospital, she also has severe ptsd and depression/anxiety and needs more medical intervention but is being ignored. All the nurses told me different information and it gets quite confusing...I had to push to find out she had golden staph. They kept moving her around too even within the one ward. She had to be moved when she was in a lot of pain and her urine bag spilled on her knee and the nurses didn't clean it up which I tried not to get upset about but I wondered if they could cause her infection to get worse but I wasnt sure and too scared to speak up as there was a room full of them. There are some lovely nurses and her physio is kind and informative. Anyway I am praying and hoping for a full recovery, my poor mother has been through hell and I really hope she will get some out patient care and they will look after her and help her to recover fully. She has no physio now she is home and it is so shocking to me. The receptionist Monique is lovely over the phone too. Please get better mum it's hard not to blame the hospital when she has a staph infection because she was doing everything to keep the area clean. ***Update: Mum ended up with sepsis of the blood, lung and kidney issues, nearly died, she has been transferred all around the hospital and seems to be constantly ignored when she pushes her buzzer now she's in a ward, hospital seem understaffed and it's really hard for me to leave a positive review or see this getting better any time soon *** Another update*** Dr Tran saw her almost 2 months after the op and wont give her pain management or anythimg to help her ptsd. Sent her packing with a half filled in blood test that I had to fill in and charged her 500 dollars. Positive: Nurse Adrianna has given me more info than any other nurses and seems to be kind and genuinely cares for mum and her mental health.
I went to St. John of God Berwick hospital last year to give birth to my first child and the experience that I went through was not satisfactory. My daughter was born with a tongue and a lip tie. We both struggled so much when its comes to breastfeeding and she couldn’t latch properly due to her ties and it was so painful to me. My daughter was not had a proper feed for 1 1/2 days and she was screaming so much because she was so hungry. Due to this, she lost more than 10% of her birth weight and we have to start feeding her formula. I have asked the hospital paediatrician and midwives on duties and explained the situation but non of them checked my daughter for a tongue or lip tie which is apparently very common in Australia. This was picked up by the council maternal health nurse straightaway after 6 days of her birth. She directed us to get the procedure done to snip the ties and my daughter was able to breastfeed after few hours. This clearly shows that the lack of experience of the midwives and paediatrician at St. John of God Berwick hospital. I rang the hospital to make a complaint and left a message to the manager and I am still waiting for their call back. There was really helpful midwives we came across which tried to help me with feeding (but didn’t successful due to the ties and end up having more pains to myself) as well as very unhelpful ones specially for a first time parents. At the end of our 4 days stay, we left the hospital with no clue or clear picture about what will happen. With all the new excitements and lots of things happening around, I feel so upset and helpless. I would not recommend this hospital to my family and friends base on my experience.
I had been having severe psychological illnesses for more than 30 years and had been seeing more than a dozen psychiatrists, before Dr Kavitha Shankar undertook the challenge to treat me recently. All previous psychiatrists couldn’t even control my illnesses to the degree of 25%. Before meeting Dr Shankar, a lot of other consultant psychiatrists rejected accepting to treat me me, saying that they didn’t have any strategies to control my illnesses. I was feeling suicidal right throughout :( Me, my family, my siblings, friends and relatives had given up hopes on controlling my mental illnesses completely :( Dr Shankar soon introduced a combination of medicines for my illnesses and they were 100% effective. Furthermore, she tackled all my root cause issues which were spread in social, biological and physiological areas around me, because of the severity of my condition I have been having. Basically, her approach has been a holistic approach. Dr Shankar has an amazing knowledge and experience with all medicines and their side effects unlike other doctors. I’m now feeling 100% normal, thanks to my Goddess; Dr Shankar. It’s like a normal person swallowing some pills. Simply, Dr Shankar addresses the root causes when treating patients like their parent/sister, taking enough time for consultation sessions, unlike other doctors who manage medicines to treat only symptoms. She is very kind and friendly towards patients and their families. Dr Shankar deserves “Rank 1” psychiatrist on earth, for her holistic treatment and to the degree of 100% recovery I experienced (from suicidal, hopeless, given up condition to a symptom free, and healthy and happy condition)!!
The nurses and doctors provided me with great care during my overnight stay at St John's last week. However, the internal communication seems to be quite messy and the reasons for: 1) I have noted on the admission form and double checked twice with 2 different admission nurses that I will be requiring a Vegetarian dietary. However, the nurse was only able to bring me a fish meal for dinner and advised that they are unable to bring anything else that is Vegetarian. It was my first meal in 12 hours due to the surgery =( 2) I have called the hospital a few times confirming that my husband will be able to stay overnight despite the lock down, to care for me as I have fractured both of my wrists and both are in casts so I will be requiring round the clock care. But only been told that he probably won't be allowed to just before they pushed me into surgery. It was a very stressful moment for me, and it turns out that he was only told a no after my surgery but after he has left an hour later the nurses told me he can stay until 10pm but not overnight.... by the time he comes back to the hospital it would probably be 10pm =( I just hope this review will be able to help manage expectations for future patients and that the hospital will be able to improve some of the internal communications because it does really affect the patients' mental states. Finally a big Thank you to all the doctors and nurses who have cared for me during my first hospital admission =) they have all really tried their best in caring for me.
I had an operation here at St John of God, the only good part of this hospital was my surgeon, his team and one nurse who was pregnant and I think her name starts with K. On Wednesday night I ended up in tears after asking for water more than 5 times the nurse Suby ended up asking me what’s wrong and why are you crying in a rude and unprofessional manner. Sorry but I hadn’t had anything to drink since Tuesday night as requested by the surgical team. When I finally fell asleep I woke up to something wet on my left side, due to the nature of my surgery I couldn’t move my body to see what it was. I had to press the nurse button 15 times (yes you read right) before a nurse came. The male student nurse from Chisholm kept on staring at me and making me feel uncomfortable and said I can put my own canula in. I had to ask for my bags multiple times and if my next of kin had been called post op and was told “I don’t know” they then told me that they had to call multiple times. Wasn’t told how to order food on the Thursday morning when I questioned where breakfast was. Will not be going back. P.S. coriander doesn’t belong on pancakes and fix your curtains so people don’t have the sun waking them up at the crack of down when they can barely get any sleep because all the nurses are chatting out the front of your room at the nurses station.
Went for a Procedure to St John of Gods Hospital on 4/9/23 was on 2nd Floor Room 230. Great place very clean and comfortable mostly beautiful kind caring staff except for one ogre of a nurse was told her name is Courtney. With the procedure I had to use toilet quite a few times. It was night time I was feeling unwell went to the toilet and I passed out or fainted. I pushed the button in the toilet OMG this particular nurse came with her colleague and handed out a big stick I was too sick to answer or say anything I was asked to get into bed side rail up and pressure taken told in a very rude voice do not get up again. I begged for a fan or piece of paper I said I just fainted was told what’s fainted I said passed out in Aussie Lingo I asked for cold water was told no fluids however she changed her mind and gave me a sip no wet cloth to wipe away my sweat nothing just spoke down to me and stormed out. I was sick & most upset but thank God the next time I pushed the button a beautiful kind nurse came along Jade she helped me to the toilet I was passing out or fainting again she wiped my face and took me to bed. She was an Angel. So my first experience at the hospital was not the best. So I am apprehensive of St John of God Hospital due to my first experience of this hospital.
Rdited to add reply: I understand that I was transferred as I gave birth prior to 34 weeks, but once our son reached 34 weeks Monash Clayton tried to organise for him to be transferred to SJOG so he was closer to home but they were told SJOG wouldn't accept him as they didn't want to staff the special care nursery. Thankfully Monash casey were more than happy to have him. My waters broke when I was 30+6 so I went to SJOG as that's where I was going to have my baby. I was told I couldn't stay there and had to be transferred to Monash Clayton as SJOG aren't able to care for babies born before 34 weeks. I was only at SJOG for a few hrs before transport could be arranged and today I received a bill for $500! This is after I paid the $1400 pregnancy management fee. They made alot of money from me considering I didn't even end up giving birth there. And to make matters worse, when our son was 34 weeks gestation, Monash Clayton kept trying to get SJOG to accept our son as a patient in their special care nursery so he could be closer to home and they flat out refused to accept him. To say I'm absolutely disgusted with the whole situation is an understatement.
I had my surgery on 12 November 2022 and stayed 3 nights in level 3 East ward. I wanted to thank SJOG nurses on shift; both Meagan’s, Tilly, Geraldine, Velio, and Chelsey in the pre-op area for their diligent care. Despite being in surgery for 6 hours and PACU 1.5 hours, I still recall Meagan coming in every hour to check on my stats, making sure I was comfortable, sympathizing with how I was feeling, to initiating another night’s stay to ensure I was feeling better before being discharged. I cannot thank Tilly enough for her cheerfulness and helping me with intimate things (bathroom) in my unfamiliar, helpless state. Both Velio and Chelsey exuded such motherliness and caring guidance. Thank you also to Dr. Yong for his exceptional and high-quality medical care, organising a surgical team swiftly at such short notice, to his tireless and caring concern for his patients. When one is in a time of medical need, SJOG is a lovely hospital. You can sense the ‘work-family’ close-knit culture. Thank you to all the medical professionals for your compassionate care and helping us on our healing journey.
I had the best experience at SJOG Berwick! I had myomectomy done by Dr. Peter Yong. He is very reliable, calm, experienced, and his positivity and compassionate care was truly exceptional! Special recognition to the entire team for their outstanding care from the start of the admission to recovery. Thank you Dr. Dawood, Dr. Tom, Sammy for the kindess presurgery and their assistance during surgery. The nurses are very caring and attentive, they are simply Angels! Heartfelt thanks to the very warm and lovely Nurse Sandi and Nurse Soumya, and the beautiful team, including Nurse Fida, Emily, JayR, Amen, Alice, Claire, Josie, Geraldine, and Natalie from admissison, and all staffs from the cleaners, to the food delivery people. Everyone there has made what was supposed to be uncomfortable experience much more enjoyable. The hospital's cleanliness standards are impressive, and the food quality exceeded expectations. Additionally, the wonderful pastoral and physio services provided added valuable support to my recovery. A wholehearted recommendation for those seeking exceptional medical care!
I came in for a gallbladder removal with Dr. Cyril Tsan, which was my first ever surgery, and he, Dr. Frank Hofmann (anaesthetist) and all the nurses (theatre nurses, recovery ward, the ones who checked on me during my overnight stay) all made the procedure and the time in hospital a comfortable, stress-free and positive experience. The nurses who looked after me whilst I was in my room post-surgery were exceptional. They were friendly, supportive, helpful and polite throughout the morning, evening and overnight shifts. They even carried my bag and waited with me whilst I was waiting to get picked up. Thank you so much for everything. The food I was served was terrific. Would've thought I was in a restaurant rather than a hospital. I don't think many people would enjoy spending time in hospital, but if I ever had to go to a hospital, St. John of God Berwick would be my first preference. Thank you for making my experience a positive one, I'm incredibly grateful.
Late into our pregnancy we discovered we had private health insurance covering pregnancy, as we lived in Berwick I called St John of God for assistance. From that phone call many months ago until we took our little boy home SJOG have been nothing short of incredible. The midwife team that supported us during delivery on Labour Day (special mention to Deb and Lori) were angels who made my wife feel safe and assured throughout. Our little boy needed to go to special care nursery for a fever and the team there went so far above and beyond to help us we were brought to tears. Again not wanting to single any one out but Tan, Dolores and Kristen especially helped us more than they could ever know. You won't find a better place with such superior facilities around, if you are tossing up having a baby public or private stop thinking about it - self pay or take our private health insurance and if you're in the area enjoy the amazing team at St John of God Berwick
Had prostate procedure and gave come out feeling satisfied and happy. All staff there are really friendly and go out of their way to help you. The only fault is at times a few little things were missed but being a new facility this would be more teething problems. That is the reason I didn't give them 5 stars. I later had a relapse and had to return, well they were brilliant. I think teething problems sorted. If you have a son/daughter who wants to be a nurse can them to do their placements. I was really impressed with the way encouraged and coached the student nurses. Since them both my parents have gone to St John Of God. Unfortunately Mum passed away. The staff throughout he stay were very compassionate caring. Dad also had a stay and once again the staff were just great. They were also helpful and ready to do what they could. That is why I have upgraded to 5 stars. They deserve it. Thank you St. John Of God
My Mum was recently transferred to St John Of God Hospital from Casey Hospital. After a horrendous time at Casey and multiple times that Doctors at Casey asked us to transfer my Mum to palliative which we refused and a Doctor asked my Mum if she wanted to go home and die or stay with them and die, we finally got her over to St John Of God. She was transferred at 11pm and I visited her at 10am the following morning. Just on my visit alone, the Cardiologist came in 3 times. I couldn’t believe it. Thank you to the Nurses, Doctors and Specialists we now have Mum home and better than we could’ve ever imagined. If she stayed at Casey and we went along with the Doctors wishes and recommendations my Mum would be gone. Thank you so much SJOG and a special thank you to a lovely staff member / Nurse named Aviva. A lovely person who knew how to help in a time of need. You are a lovely lady and I wish you all the best.
I am currently in my second stay at the hospital. Three weeks ago I was in for a gastrointestinal testing. The staff were very supportive and so helpful. One part I was feeling very down but the staff were there to help me through it. I am currently in the rehabilitation ward after knee operation. Nurses unreal, go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. Recovery is very important if you have support and they support you all the way. Physiotherapist are kind helpful and always there to help. Pastoral support is great, I was feeling a bit down but the pastoral support staff helped me out. Food, you cannot complain about. A great menu and cooked to perfection. Overall, I have been in a number of hospitals over my 71 years this one leaves all for dead. I cannot but highly recommend this hospital, keep up the good work, you have my recommendation.
I am back for my second stay here, having pain management treatment. This is the best hospital I have ever been to and I've been to a few over the past two years. The staff are so professional friendly, caring and go out of their way to do anything for you. The food is way above what would would expect from a hospital, they don't use caterers, they employ there own Chef and kitchen staff and knock out a beautiful meal every time with many options on the menu.. The hospital it's self is amazing, it's modern and has gorgeous seating and lush green plants in two large sun filled courtyards that you can sit in all day, I don't even feel like I am in hospital it's more like a 5 star resort lol. But I do sincerely recommend and praise all the staff here. Thanks once again to all staff at St John Of God Berwick for putting up with me. M.Spencer
I found the nursing staff here to be both lovely and competent. I do have a few gripes though. The mattress in my bed was an inch thick and under that was flat wood. Very, very uncomfortable. The recovery room was absolutely freezing and the nurse said it was always that way. For a new hospital, it lacked some of the items I've received in many other surgeries. No compression socks, which most hospitals use now. I didn't even get a hair net. And of course, my FODMAP diet was ignored. I'll go to another hospital for my upcoming major surgery, since I have a choice, as these things are important to me. One thing that really stood out, is there's no digital admission form. A junior graphic designer can produce, in 4 hours, an electronic PDF of this form that patients can fill out and sign. So there's really no excuse for that.
The best hospital I have ever been to. I have had a few procedures at St John of God Berwick, including having a baby in the maternity ward. The nurses are absolutely outstanding, they are full of compassion and support, they have no judgment and are some of the friendliest, loveliest people I have ever met (surgery nurses, theater nurses, midwives etc). Amanda and Tan are amazing nurses who always made me feel calm and relaxed in any situation. The admission staff are also amazing, specifically Rhonda and Brenda who went above and beyond for me in every possible way. I see Dr Jorg Kemper privately who also operates at this hospital and he is an absolutely amazing surgeon with great bedside manner and a world of knowledge. Could not be happier with any part of any of my experiences at this hospital. Amazing.
I had gall bladder surgery in November 2020. I had never stayed in a private hospital before only public and it was fantastic. I have to say all the staff were amazing. I’ve never really had any major surgery before so you can imagine I was very nervous but all the staff were very reassuring and caring. Couldn’t fault anything. I felt very cared for. Being a nurse or surgeon is a hard job I know I could never do it so I really appreciate all their hard work. I had Dr Brian Hodgkins perform the surgery and he was absolutely amazing from my consultation to the very end of my surgery. He came to check on me and made sure he gave me post-surgery information and he was great. The nurses always came to check on me and see if I needed anything and they were amazing. Thank you so much the team at SJOG Berwick.
Highly recommend SJOG maternity ward. Big thank you to all the midwives and nurses who assisted me. I gave birth to our beautiful baby boy via planned c-section March this year. I had a very smooth delivery. My doctor was the highly experienced Dr Kiran Atmuri. Who made me feel safe and gave me the best care possible. Special thanks to Renee the kind heart lactation consultant/nurse who also helped me post delivery with my son’s tongue tie problems and getting him to latch on. Facilities are clean. You really have peace and space to recover. A much better experience second time around giving birth after a traumatic birth and poor postnatal care given to me via public hospital with my firstborn. Couldn’t be more grateful and thankful for all the care given.
I found this hospital unprofessional and unorganised. After waiting hours in a chair, with a possible spinal cord injury after an accident. My mother was transferred to another hospital to run an MRI on her spine. Then transferred back to Berwick Casey, and told to go home at 1am in the morning. Once she disagreed because of her pain and the time, they told her there was no bed, and made her sleep in the isle of serveal hours, in which they continued to tell her to go home. After getting a bed, they only let her sleep for 2 hours before again asking her to leave. In which she eventually gave up at 6am and went home in immense pain, in a wheelchair. I am frustrated that anyone could be treated like this, and not cared for; even with such horrible injuries!
From the moment I walked in pre surgery the staff were all so welcoming & friendly putting my nerves at ease. Such professional service. I Can not thank my surgeon Dr Camdon Fary enough for his expertise with my hip surgery, Before care pre surgery & aftercare I can highly recommend him with his outstanding service & kindness. The nurses in my recovery ward were so friendly, kind and so helpful during my week long stay. Food was restaurant like, Amazing. My room had a lovely view, so nice I kept the curtains open even during the night with the view of the pretty lights. The Physio team and their admin staff where I am now doing my rehab are absolutely Amazing, so kind and so very helpful. Highly recommend SJOG hospital and all involved. THANK YOU
Dr. John Monagle is fantastic. Been seeing him for a few years now post car accident. Reet started off my stay by admitting me. You have a lovely manner Reet! The nursing staff and other staff on the 4th floor have been wonderful. Reese, Prasanna and Shawney thank you for putting me at ease when I arrived and didn’t know what to expect. The chitchats are much appreciated too. The food is tasty! I was quite surprised! Ha ! I had a beautiful chickpea and potato curry for lunch. The view is beautiful from my bed. Thank you all again. It’s been a hard 4 years since my first accident and I am ever so grateful for what Dr. Monagle has done for be. Being a clinician myself I was astounded by his care and kindness not to mention intelligence.
I had given birth here 5 weeks ago. I had the best midwife name Sophie and the best doctor Poonam arora who have assisted me with induction and the birth. I had such a smooth induction and labour and felt so comfortable and many many many thanks to the support you have given me and my husband as this is my first time giving birth privately. I cannot complain and to all the rest of the midwife who also assisted us for 2 days. Thank you also to the chef for the lovely meals and very clean serving of food. I have enjoyed all the meals. Thank you so much Dr Poonam Arora for all the care and support you have given me all throughout my pregnancy. You are all amazing. I wish you all the very best and thank you for working so hard.
Had both of my babies here and could not recommend SJOG enough. Dr Yong is my ob and he is absolutely incredible. The midwife’s/nurses care during my labour, emergency caesarean and postpartum were amazing, they make you feel like you’re the only one there and so accomodating. Would like to thank Deb and Emma for being such great support during my labour, they are amazing and checking up postpartum on bubs and I! Also special thanks to Angela, she helped me so much during my postpartum stay when I was so vunerable - she is an angel! More thank you to Kyllie, Chris, Amanda and Kate for being so supportive and thorough through everything. We are so grateful and I absolutely loved the experience both times.
I recently stayed at the St John of God hospital in Berwick, Victoria. I had microdiscectomy procedure an ended up staying at the hospital for 3 nights. I cannot over-emphasize what a wonderful experience it was. The hospital itself was beautifully functional - almost like a hotel! More importantly, ALL of the staff that helped me through my recovery were exceptional - absolute professionals who all worked cohesively together. I can’t thank them enough and they are a credit to themselves and the organisation they represent. It seems that, currently, everything we read or hear in the news is full of bad news. My stay at St John of God has restored my faith in human nature. Many thanks to all involved.
Thanks again SJOG again for your wonderful service. It was great to be back. Thanks to all your staff and nurses for taking good care of me while I had bunion surgery and checking in. Best choice going to private hospital and this hospital is great. I will see you again for next bunion surgery. Thanks SJOG! Raya Another great stay on 01/07/2023 thanks again for looking after me so well and your friendly conversations. Thanks to Stella, Kate,Chironou, Michelle, Roy and Peter for your constant care! You guys are the best and the others too. I’m sure your glad to get rid of me for the trouble I caused Hope yo see you next time for another procedure in near future I be your favourite patient.
My wife and I have both had stints in this hospital in the last year - and have to say, it is just fantastic. Staff across the board so human and supportive. The Christian values behind the organisation really seem to shine through. Good for mental health in times of stressful medical procedures.Convenience in access and parking etc, all make this such a comforting resource as we get older. .... one of the reasons we found we appreciate living out this way is the low stress for access compared when we previously lived further into the city and had to access Cabrini and Epworth etc. Seems like most of the top consultants/specialists come out to the hospital. Well serviced. Healthcare at its best.
I did an elective surgery 15th July. Throughout my 3 days as a patient, exemplary professionalism and level of care are shown to me. I have been to other hospital as well, however the nurses in SJOG they are attentive and dedicated. Even my husband felt the assurance. Food wise a large variety to choose from not that you can eat well after a surgery but good to have that option especially after starving for so long before and after the surgery. There are a few nurses who take turns to look after me and we have friendly chats and conversation. This hospital not only their facilities are new but their staff are amazing making my whole experience a smooth transition before and after my stay.
Just wanted to give a 5 star review for the wonderful hospital of St John of God Berwick,my 5 year old had surgery done there 2 days ago and we had the best experience from the time we stepped into the hospital ,from the reception staff, nurses ,doctors ,catering staff, theater staff etc every was just so easy going and friendly and very professional and my daughter felt so comfortable and she was so relaxed she told me mom this is a nice holiday.Me been a registered nurse myself thought to myself maybe I should join this kind of work environment. Thank you for the lovely staff at st John of God and highly recommend this hospital to everyone.
The maternity services here are first class. I could not imagine a more professional team of nurses, midwives and doctors. I had my baby through the Joy program and was cared for with expertise by various doctors, but the midwife Kylie was so kind and caring, she really made me look forward to my appointments. Her care extended into my birth stay at the hospital. She is truly a genuine person. Other midwives such as Tan and Brodie were also extremely attentive and helpful with my new baby. They are a testament to quality nursing and I hope St John of God recognises them as pillars of their hospital.
Been a patient for 3 years approximately, of Dr John Monagle, he is very professional and understanding. Explains procedures and medications in a very astute way, that is easily understandable. Very down to earth and understands both sides of the table. I would highly recommend for all pain related procedures. Dr Monagle doesn't do unnecessary procedures either! Is very neutral of the pros and cons of different pharmaceuticals, procedures / surgeries and in-house / outhouse care. Doesn't go back on his word and is very open and upfront. Ticks all the boxes, highly worth seeing.
What can I saying first is there isn't enough stars for what they deserve. From moment I got out of the car to minute they walked me in a wheel chair to inside car door , that have gone out of there way . From person at don't with QR code to reception to nurses to pre to surgeon to Dr to pc omg just amazing group of caring community work there butts off and don't get praised enough I love you guys God Bless you all . It was my first time there and if I ever need hospital I'll pay t o go there . God bless you all love you guys thank you for the care absolutely amazing
My first time in this hospital for a week for a Ketamine infusion. I been countless times in hospitals bcz I had many surgeries. From the first step in till I left I could not be happier and grateful. Dr Mirthza Baig, the pharmacist, every nurse, the dietitian, the food, the sweetness and care are excellent. I have to come back in a month for another week and I will go very relaxed knowing that I will be treated with care and love. The only thing that the maximun temperature from my room heater was not enough for me. THANKS GOD FOR THIS HOSPITAL STANDART.
Our experience with St Jhon of God Maternity was wonderful. Our obstetrician Dr Saj Rathnayake and the team was exceptional. The surgery was flawless and nurses, midwives care givers were very attentive and caring during my 5 days stay. They time to time checked my baby and me while giving all instructions. As first tme mum that was very helpful for me and my husbund. The rooms, hospital, washroom were very spacious and very clean. The food service was always on time, pretty good and yummy for hospital standards. Highly recommend this maternity hospital.
I had tonsillectomy done here under Dr Safdar and Dr Sharon, both are wonderful doctors and took me through the process thoroughly. Didn’t feel like I was in for a major surgery. Along with that, the nursing & support staff were absolutely remarkable and caring. I wont name one as all were 5/5. The food was also presented very well and was quite delicious. My experience from the entry desk to exit including pharmacy was beyond my expectation and imagination. Thank you for taking care of me beyond my expectations. Patient from room 332
I had surgery here for a disc replacement at the end of May 2023. I have been to many different hospitals in a handful of different countries and this place is easily the best. Staff were very active and attentive through the whole process and I don't have one bad thing to mention. All facilities were well up to date and clean and everyone I encountered made my whole stay seamless and comfortable. Food was great and had a decent variety to pick from which was helpful to get through post surgery pains! Recommend this place!
I was transferred to SJOG for 10 days in the Rehab ward & was treated with nothing but respect by my Nurses. It was my first time ever being a patient however as I study Nursing, I had an idea of what to expect and all the team were very professional & made sure I was always comfortable. Mandy was an outstanding Nurse and I always looked forward to seeing her throughout my days here, she was always happy to sit and chat if she had time & nothing was ever to big of an ask. Sandra & Jade were also lovely throughout my time.
I recently had a total hip replacement here and I can honestly say that it has been the best hospital I have stayed in. From the phone call a week before, through admissions, the surgery and recovery it was all excellent. The staff were very caring and wouldn’t hesitate to do that little extra to make you more comfortable. Food was actually very good and the servings were generous. I would definitely recommend this hospital over any of the other hospitals I have stayed in located on the city.
I have just had a right hip replacement. I have been to other hospitals before but I can honestly say that the staff at St John of God Berwick are the best. They are happy, friendly, helpful, understanding, caring and the most professional staff that I have had the pleasure of looking after me. Thankyou to all the beautiful staff at 4 East Surgical who were there for me. I really appreciated everything that you all did for me. Highly recommend this hospital 100%.
nursing staff great , the admin and coordination staff are shocking no duty of care, no follow up, and outright rude, first priority to bill the insurance then deign all follow up access . I was left high and dry needing open wound packing and re dressing daily and then told well organise it yourself less than 4 hours after discharge when the nursing staff assured me visits had been arranged ,made my recovery so stressful wont use or recommend them ever again
I was recently a patient in 4 East. I have had numerous stays at this Hospital but never have l had such wonderful excellent care from the staff. The nurses went above & beyond to care for me like l have never had at St John or many other hospital l have been a patient at. Thank you wonderful staff, 5 stars is not enough for them. Keep up the excellent work lovely people l am forever grateful for your care & sense of humours
I delivered our baby girl on 23rd of June at St John of God Berwick. All the staff was very friendly and helpful even Cleaning and kitchen staff and specially the Midwives. Sophie n Kristen were there for my labor who were fantastic. Other midwives who looked after me through out the stay were so lovely. Dr Poonam Arora is amazing too. Very happy with all the staff and special care they provide. Thanks again for making my initial days so special.
I had a major surgery last week at this excellent hospital, very clean and rooms are lovely and spacious. The food is fantastic and so many options to choose from. The beds are very comfortable also. The drs and nurses are extremely caring and lovely people, the support I have been given is amazing. Really is a fantastic hospital with fantastic staff. I am a nurse myself and feel I'd love to work here also as it is just a wonderful environment.
I was at Berwick yesterday for a minor day surgery, all staff from Margaret at reception to all the nurses and theatre staff were amazing. They explained what would happen next and l felt really cared for. I do not remember any other names of staff, but all were professional and just made me feel safe, all were kind and the best hospital experience l have ever had. The cup of tea and sandwiches after my recovery time were absolutely delicious.
What a perfect waste of healthcare insurance. Had our first child there and experienced the lack of infrastructure, even during our second it is the same. Not at all kids-friendly, tiny rooms, improper ratio of grad-nurses vs experienced staff, it's just the monopoly in the area, since no private maternity hospitals in area. I guess casey hospital would had been far better. Next time it's definitely the knox hospital regardless how far it is.
Word of advice - get a Über over here do not even bother driving. There is hardly any carparks here and the ones available are extremely hard to get to. But when you get in you'll be extremely confused getting to you doctor or specialist since almost everything in the building is either not labeled or is labeled incorrectly. It seems the architect forced too much on aesthetics and very little (to none at all) on functionality/practicality.
If you have to be in hospital this is the place to be ,the staff are amazing very caring, friendly ,and professional, from the cleaning staff, admin, nursing, theatre, and the wonderful Doctors at the specialist centre ,the meals are restruant quality,my husband and myself have been patience at the hospital and cannot speak highly enough of the treatment we have received, the surgical treatment is second to none ,great work everyone
An absolutely fantastic and 'happy' hospital with very professional and friendly staff that impressed me at every turn. The theatre staff and doctors performed their roles with better than military precision while keeping me confident, relaxed and amused. The care that the entire nursing staff showed me was equally impressive . The management of this hospital clearly knows how to motivate staff members to give their very best.
While rest of the doctors and nurses and mid wives are really nice, the reception team in consulting suits are very rude and racist, specially the old lady in the consultancy room reception.Very bossy and scream at patients. I experienced two incidents of screaming at me by this very same receptionist. Better find suitable staff for the reception. She ruins the very nice environment and the reputation of the hospital.
Well what an experience. I’ve been to a number of hospitals, public and private but have never experienced such wonderful care and such a beautiful hospital. The staff were all fantastic and caring and friendly, from entering the hospital until discharge. Couldn’t ask for a better doctor than Dr Dobson. Everything explained in detail by her and the anaesthetist. How lucky to have such a hospital in my area!
Excellent maternity hospital in my experience. I have not met nicer mid wives, nurses, doctors....everyone is very helpful and supportive especially when you are a newborn parent. The facilities are excellent and the rooms are comfortable with bonus nice views of the south east region from the hospital room. The food service was also very good with the food not too salty or sweet! I highly recommend!
I recently had to undergo a procedure at St John of God. The whole process was a really smooth transition from arrival through to admission, surgery, surgical ward and discharge. The staff make me feel really informed, genuinely cared, listened to questions and concerns and really live their hospital values Hospitality, Compassion, Respect, Justice and Excellence. Thank you for all of your care.
I had a 4 day stay for gynecologist surgery. My experience from the booking being made by my surgeon through to my surgery, was absolutely perfect. Once I was taken to the ward the entire nursing staff were very caring & compassionate, nothing was ever a problem. The food on the menu was delicious, not only was it quality, there was quantity there too. Thank you. You get my 5 star rating.
Good staff nurses and management team.Managers and staff are kind, polite in their dealings with patients and between each other.Really a very different environment I have seen comparable with other areas I worked. You won’t feel bad working an extra mile for the hospital.Cleanliness is high rated. Trichia, the NUM of Surgical Ward 3 East is very helpful and welcoming to new and all staffs.
the hospital the staff.nurse everyone fantastic lovely caring so helpful couldn't of asked for better care. Rambo in intensive care he is big asset to your team. He was a breathe of fresh air when he come in so caring always making you feeling safe amazing person l couldn't thank him and everyone at saint john of god enough for the perfect amazing care they gave me .thank you so much .
The change in this hospital is amazing. Used the old facility and the staff were terrible. Had surgery in May at the new hospital and the staff were amazing. Could not fault them. Better than any of the city private hospitals I've been in. Congratulations, well done to the theatre, surgeons and Nursing staff for your professionalism. Congratulations John Monagle.
I recently had surgery at SJOG Berwick and I could not recommend this hospital more highly. Excellent care, fantastic surgical team and nurses are amazing! I was so nervous and their lovely staff put me at ease. The rooms were so clean and tidy and the Room Service Menu and food was delicious! Made my recovery so much better. Thanks again, I highly recommend.
We were admitted for the birth of my first baby, and my wife had emergency caesarian. We stayed 4 nights in the hospital and we enjoyed the experience. Apart from one, we were really happy with the midwives that were looking after us. Very knowledgeable and passionate about their job, and very helpful and understanding at the same time. We'll go there again.
I came into St John of God Berwick for hip replacement. From the very first with over the phone questions to the time of discharge I cannot fault the professionalism and friendliness of staff from cleaning, catering, cooking, nursing staff, medical teams and of course the physiotherapy. This is my 3rd stay in hospital so I wish to pass on my thanks to all.
Could not be happier with the service and professionalism from ALL of the staff. I work in healthcare and this has to be one of the best hospital stays I could have asked for as a patient. Everyone was extreemely attentive, helpful and happy and the facilities were amazing. Keep on doing whatever it is that you are doing as it is working! Thanks again
2-3 days ago at around 4 pm I was booking a first consultation over the phone. The female receptionist was very arrogant. I was asking to get an SMS to confirm the appointment and she replies : "don't worry about the SMS ". Uneducated, rude and bad temper. I not even know if the appointment is on or not but I've asked my GP for a different specialist.
Perfect ! After hearing the horror stories about having babies in the public system we choose to go private. From entering the hospital to leaving the hospitality was amazing. A massive shout out to the midwives that take impeccable care of you bubs and partners for the duration of your stay. And to top it off a midwife visit at home the week after.
I had time in surgical and rehab wards. The staff on rehab were fabulous! This includes the food services staff and the wonderful physio team, as well as the nursing staff. I had afew problems on surgical ward with my physical health but the nurses did their best to sort things out for me. All in all, I would recommend this hospital for treatment.
Some staff were good but the rest were abysmal, and that was when we could get them. Were blatantly told they were too busy to help us with our first born, we ended up googling most information. Thought paying the ridiculous amount of money for private would give better care but friends and family who visited said they had better care from public.
My dad recently had his coronary Angiogram done at this hospital and I can say it with confidence that you are on really good hands ....I can definitely recommend this hospital, the staff and the nurses are really great ....especially a good shout out to the nurse "Laxmi" on level 2 West CCU depth ...thanks a lot for making my dad feel homely ...
I had surgery at SJOG Berwick on 25 Feb 2021 and was discharged on 26 Feb 2021. Thanks to admin staff, theater staff, anesthetist, Urologist Associate Professor Philip McCahy and Ward 4E staff. Your care, competence and professionalism was very much appreciated. You all take great pride in what you do as did I throughout my working life.
St John of God Berwick Hospital is beautiful and fantastic hospital. The nurses are so caring and can't thank enough Dr Wang and his team for amazing work done on My foot surgery. I had My baby boy at this wonderful hospital as well. Greatly appreciated and grateful Highly recommend this hospital in the area. Kind Regard Mansi SINGH
It is very hard to understand why the new St John of God Hospital does not offer dialysis! Casey & Cranbourne are both full have their full and there is a long waiting list to get into them.. I live in Berwick & go to Box Hill for dialysis, which takes 2 hours in peak traffic. We desperately need more dialysis units in Casey!
I was there just for one night but could not get munch sleep as the bed was to hard. I had put on my admin form that I had ankylosing spondylitis and was on dialysis diet but when dinner came it was two scoops of spuds and a big sausage with gravy which I can not eat on dialysis diet Does anybody look at the admin form?
Yesterday had colonoscopy performed here. From the moment I stepped thru the doors I greeted by very helpful and friendly staff. The hospital itself is spotless and modern. After four hours it was all done. Absolutely marvellous. Can’t recall all the names, but thank you and well done. We are lucky to have such places.
Avoid this In-Hospitable place. Public Rehab and or Hospitals have better staff who don't belittle or demean the patients just because they're elderly and cannot fend for themselves. Food is very average. No working AC in the rooms. And don't make a complaint or ask for the slightest change, staff will get quite aggro.
We had our beautiful little boy a few years back & our precious daughter here earlier this year. Great staff love the doctors here. Very caring and extremely good to us especially those nurses in maternity ward. Had other things we needed looking at here too. Staff are friendly and are always there to help. :-)
All the staff from the cleaners, to the food delivery people and the nurses and doctors were just fabulous! Very helpful and accommodating and the food was hot, delicious and plentiful! Not only did I have outstanding care, my family noticed the quality of care as well. Admin and reception were great as well!
Had overnight surgery at the new hospital this week. Seems to be in a state of unreadiness overall. The nurses were lovely and my room was amazing and absolutely perfect. Theatre was impressive although in recovery the nurses seemed more concerned about talking about their workloads than caring for patients.
I have had 4 procedures this year with the last one at this hospital. The facilities are amazing and the staff are so caring and truly do go above and beyond. A special shout out to Michelle and Neena on Ward 4 for taking such good care of me and my thanks to all involved in my admission and care
I came here for a day procedure for a miscarriage and received excellent care from Dr Mei Cheah, Dr Sharon Ong, as well as all the other wonderful and compassionate nurses and staff. They made a very sad and difficult situation as easy and smooth as possible for my husband and I. Thank you all!
I had day surgery at your hospital yesterday and i would have to say that the care and attention i was given was second to none. From reception, booking in, nurses, doctors, anesthetist, orderlies everyone. I can't thank you enough. Congratulations on an exceptionally well organized hospital.
This hospital has such good nursing staff my daughter was so well looked after and all the staff she met were great The ENT specialist was excellent as were all the doctors that operate there Excellent theatre staff too they were very good she said. Would definitely go there again
I've had a few appoitments here and a surgery. Majority of the staff are very nice, with the odd one or two that aren't friendly. Nice hospital, will go back if needed. The surgery team were extremely friendly and made me feel very comfortable when being put to sleep.
Cannot fault anything about my 4 day stay recently. Especially the nurses!!! Each and every one that looked after me was lovely & kept me as comfortable as I could possibly be. Thank you so much everyone, for making being in hospital that little bit better xx
Went here to see specialists who's consulting suites are here. New modern facilities, great underground car parking as well as limited above ground spots. This place is relatively new and has modern facilities, excellent toilets for able and disabled people.
My surgery couldn't have gone better. Excellent surgery! Everyone on the nursing and admin staff were kind, helpful and absolutely top shelf. Even my dinner was excellent! Sunrise the next morning was obviously arranged just for my viewing pleasure, too!
Had same day procedure/surgery few months ago. Start from receptionist, surgeon/doctors/nurses until I got discharged was so great. They work in a very professional work etchic/manner, very friendly and caring. They were really taking good care of me.
I cannot fault this hospital. Staff were so caring and amazing to deal with. Very professional and compassionate. The ladies in the cafe are amazing and their food is delicious. If you want great care this is the place. Well done to you all.
We had our first baby in this hospital on last April. It was an awesome experience. Specially "DEB" and other staff were very friendly, kind and helpful. If you are searching a better place for childbirth the SJG Berwick is the ideal.
Sincere thanks to MrPhillip Ian Harris and his Surgical team of Nurses , for treating my daughter Simone.J., with kindness and efficient professionalism..... Please accept my heartiest thank you to all at St John of God Berwick ....
I recently had surgery at St John of God in Berwick All staff were gentle and caring. The care I received during my stay was exceptional. A heartfelt thank you to all the doctors and nurses who played a part in my care and recovery
I recently had a total laproscopic hysterectomy at SJOG Berwick. Excellent rooms and the care was great. All nurses that were caring for me were amazing...compassionate, efficient and professional. Andrea, Laura, Jean, Suby and
I had surgery at Berwick St John of God back in September the nurses and admin staff were wonderful and extremely compassionate. Thank you the care was next level compared to the care I've received at other private hospitals.
I am FTM. This place is just wow. Had nu baby boy here in October. All nurses and midwives are the sweetest person in the whole world. The care and food we got during our stay is really mean to us a lot. Highly recommended.
All of the staff, including the ones that had already been there 12+ hours, were incredible to deal with. Polite, caring, patient. The hospital was great, everything happened quicker than I expected. It is worth going here.
Really helpful and nice people. The hospital is spotless and well run. Always seems to be efficient and processes are as simple as they can be in a hospital. Toilets are #accessible. There's a cafe downstairs in reception.
This hospital is great have neva had a problem here ..nursing staff and theatre staff are amazing I only ever rung my buzzer for pain killers but the nurses were always popping in I have a great neurosurgeon there as well
Friendly staff. Able to park onsite for a fee or out on the road (parking restrictions do apply) with not much trouble. My Dad received great care overnight after surgery recently Single room was clean and comfortable
Your pathology located at clinical labs is understaffed and there is an unacceptable long wait there. The lab is understaffed and this experience before a scheduled surgery does not give a positive vide on SJG…..
sure the hospital is fine. but after dealing with a rude and dismissive reception from one of the clinics I won’t be back. you work for a doctor. that doesn’t mean you are a doctor. your not that important
I spent two days here after an operation. It is all new, and very well run. The room was comfortable. Most amazing thing was that it was quiet enough at night to sleep. I’ve never had that in a hospital.
My wife and I are here in the maternity ward. The experience has been so great. All of the staff are so helpful and attentive. It's made what can be quite a stressful and exhausting time very doable.
My husband recently had an operation at this hospital. He said " it was like staying in a hotel." The staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble, from the reception to the specialist.
On thur 21/8 I had a gastroscopy at STJOG and I was treated in a professional, courteous and helpful manner by the staff and nurses who made my experience smooth and uneventful. Highly recommended.
