Pros: a good looking but small campus you can post on snap daily Cons: everything else If you have scored more than 80%, you’re better off going anywhere than this place. I wish someone gave me this advise when I was doing my undergrad at SJC. Doing my masters elsewhere and realising that this college was so regressive in teaching. Rude staff inconsiderate of students, students are not allowed to use lifts or any similar facilities in spite of paying huge fee amounts. They are not even allowed to sit on the sofas near receptions even when empty. Some faculty are well mannered but some departments like Botany have heavily ill-mannered faculty that will insult students to their face, and cause discrepancies in marks based on their personal preference. The college makes you re-buy things that are supposed to be included in fees like lab manuals and sheets with their own staff selling it with increased prices which students are forced to buy due to a shortage of time provided. If you are considering the hostel, do not consider it any more. I don’t know how much it has changed since I stayed here for one year in 2019, but that experience was hell. The hostel authorities make you feel like a homeless person they’re giving shelter to rather than a paying student. This place will make you do manual labour for others like sweeping college halls for functions and tasks like pocha and cooking. There are “strict” rules meaning you can never go out, even for urgent things you need to take written permissions days in advance. The hygiene is questionable and this hostel feels more hospitable to rats than to paying students. Hands down, this university will make you work the hardest for your degree but it will have the same value as any random unknown college if you happen to apply anywhere outside of Bangalore for your masters. The faculty is not considerate of the fact that students are doing a triple major and give such short deadlines that you’re supposed to work for the whole day. If you need to get a job to support your family, a course here is not for you as the faculty will be sure to make it a hell for you. If you have low attendance even for legitimate reasons, be ready for torture and mental breakdowns as this college will refuse to listen, and contradict its own rules with teachers going beyond their power and giving misinformation just to taunt these students they think to be “lazy”. I cried during my graduation here, not because I was happy, but to end this torture and start a new phase of my life away from this institution.

The college is in the heart of the city, has a reputation of being one of the oldest colleges in Bangalore. The college sure has contributed a lot in the development of the city and youth of this country. My review here will be purely out of my experience as a masters student ( chemistry course) in this college. The college has one of the best equipped laboratories, especially the chemistry department has a wonderful analytical labs with all the instruments required to train a student to become a perfect chemist. The department has trained and experienced faculties, all of who are involved in one or the other research projects. good student teacher ratio. The association continuously organizes student interactive sessions which is way too helpful if one is interested in future research. These are some good things about the college. coming to some limitations, let me start with the parking lot, the college charges you 1K annually as a parking fee, for the post graduate students we are given a choice to park in the cellar of the college building where they hardly switch on any lights, there is no watchman and people mindlessly park without any order. Canteens have very less options for vegetarian food, the prices are expensive and the coffee is not worth a try. Classrooms allotted to chemistry course is small and suffocating. The course is over demanding and eventually people quit( when my course started there were 27 students in my class and in the final semester only 18 of us gave the final exam) that speaks a lot about the kind of expectations the department will have on you. The internal assessment pattern can be more creative instead of just the regular tests and assignments. One can easily feel that there is very less space and way too many people on the campus, which is too chaotic and disturbing. *Placement in the college is near to none* as they do not have a proper body to take care of the placements/invite companies for campus drives, technically no company turns up here. The college does not have easy transport access to major bus stops and the roads leading to the campus is very crowded in the mornings. lastly, I feel the college can do much better for a college that has existed more than 100 years, their strategies and thinking is still lagging behind.

Please don't get fooled by the infrastructure and 138 years of excellence, NAAC accreditation and all that. Joining in this college was the worst decision I've ever taken in my life. The staffs, faculty and the administration is playing some sort of gambling with students life, The year when I joined the faculty was really good but then lot of experienced teachers and professors resigned because of how the college works and they even told us to get out of this place as soon as possible and they joined in better institutions, I'm a Commerce student( This is not SJCC, this is SJC with and inexperienced commerce faculty) and exam timetables are kept in a way where the students won't even get enough gaps in between the exams so that more students ends up failing and had to repeat by paying more and more amount on the supplementary exam fees... In order to complete a course, we need to clear all subjects but the college is not letting us to pass, I mean subjects like accountancy and income tax should have atleast one day gap in between the exam but here it's like 2 accountancy exams on the same day and the next day 2 income tax exams without gap, I feel really miserable and helpless in this system of education. The people who really studied here will understand how miserable is this educational institution and how badly they are ruining our future... We are not machines to clear these exams if there's no gap in between the exams, since we don't pass these exams we don't have any voice against this unfair situation..... If anybody needs any proof I can post an examination time table beloww is happening in the end of this month... Please don't ruin our future like this.... Nobody can actually communicate this with the principal/COE/PRO because they treat the students like garbage and none of them never have time for the students.... Please show some justice

DO NOT JOIN M.Sc.BOTANY in this Institute. I am a M.Sc.Botany graduate from SJC. I am extremely disappointed for the two years experience. It was a horrible experience and I would not recommend anyone to join this course ever. Faculties of Botany Department, at SJU are biased, partial, racists, back biters, unprofessional, threatening, and most importantly NOT GOOD in TEACHING. The laboratories are out of date, and do not have basic requirements for experiments. Certain faculties do not move from their chairs and expect students to do entire practicals on their own. We students loose hope for any career in this Botany stream, since the faculties themselves are bad examples. Many of the teachers are ancestors of SJU since they did all their education in SJC and continuing to teach in SJC for decades. There is no improvement in facilities provided to the students, compare to what it was when they studied here. Other near by Institutes provides good lab facilities and brilliant faculties. The other departments like Microbiology have good infra structure and the students are involved in proper dissertation work. But in Botany Department, the faculties are not experienced in research and they don't guide us properly. We get the idea that, the only job opportunity is Teaching. Some faculties wastes lot of time in class in taking attendance and doing prayer for every class period. It looks very lethargic approach to kill time in class. Result is, we don't get to learn anything. Only memorizing and vomiting the syllabus which nothing but PPTs and notes that were prepar. M.Sc.Botany and PHD Botany in SJC has no scope. You won't learn anything new or you won't get any facility to use. DO NOT JOIN MSC BOTANY or PHD BOTANY. It's waste of your time.

Do NOT join any course by the Department of BOTANY by this college/university!!!! Passed out but still keeping this anonymous 'cause they can and will make sure consequences will happenn to me if this goes out!! Dept looks incredibly good and prestigious on paper with good achievements and faculty, and not gonna lie some are good and a pleasure to learn from but some are so bad it’s worth my time to write a review so future students don’t spoil their love of learning for such a beautiful subject as a MSc botany kid myself. One teacher in particular (most will know without saying name if ur a student) will make ip reasons to scold you, his error will cause experiments to ruin which other teachers admit and he looks good on paper because he got some bs innovation award from the UK. He also favours girls students and stops them after period for personal questiins, many of my friends and me as well were victims… hed stop me 16 min after lab to ask parents old school and other things to extend time only..felt uncomfortable with him. Other teachers are also rude and ask ppl to copy paste things from record wen real life reading is diff and then use derogatory language for students like brainless and useless hurting confidence. To all parents reading this- do you really want ur kids being called such bad names by teachers for teacher's own fault? Other depts are really really good but botany is the worst dept I ever encountered in my three years of sjc and starting my masters. Almost destroyed my love for subject and now i finally am catching up in MSc. Botany in other clg because sjc didnt teach properly any concept.

As a bsc graduate from st Joseph's I can only tell that majority of the lecturers are just not fit to teach. Not only will they take the most underwhelming, in energetic and the most outdated methods to teach (especially the chemistry department) but they also systematically banter you so much that you will feel absolutely broken at times. It is a personal experience which me and many of my class mates went through. The principal and management are not only rude to students but also parents as well. I still remember my dad a man I look up to cause he served the country with dedication honesty and discipline getting ignored by the principal when he came to ask a query regarding my exam. If any student have difficulty in academics do not expect any form of support from any teachers. As far as personal growth goes I have now finished my msc chemistry from another college in Bengaluru when I joined it I was doubting myself cause of the experience I had in st Joseph's but now after graduation I feel that my current college helped me grow as an individual. Something Joseph's can't give, they are just a name and honestly you need to experience how badly some of the professors teach then you come to a realization that you just want to make it out of college rather than growing as an individual. This coupled with horribly behaved management and with one of the most rude principal you are bound to not learn anything here except getting a degree.

DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS COLLEGE which is now an university for the name sake. They behave very badly with students. Principal, Dean, teachers every single person is an abuser except few. If you have already taken the admission then all the best, we are all in this together. No campus placements for most of the course. No researchers in teaching faculty. Teachers have no strong foundations of teaching. Attitude, ego, pride, etc. name it and you’ll find those in faculties of SJU. Sports and cultural events are average. Nothing unique or special or excellent about it. Campus is small approx. 3 acres land with no proper planning of infrastructure. Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Deans office is like a deathrow. I am not writing this review out of frustration or anger. This is the most honest review and i have experienced it. I am not a student of SJU I have withdrawn my admission because of the institutional pressure. There is a photo of Rohit Vemula in Department of Languages and this is what Dean of Department of Languages said to me, “I will fry you in hot oil, kick you out from this floor, jackhammer, Third class fellow you should be ashamed of yourself”

Pretty much the worst managed college when it comes to easing the process of registration for degrees with Bangalore University. Most of the staff shifts blame onto the student even though it was the management that had made mistakes in the registration. Quite sad to see that a once great and reputed college has come to this even with their advances in infrastructure. I would not be surprised if it took a few more decades or centuries for the college to be granted “University” status from the present “College with Potential for Excellence”. (The key word being “Potential”) Quick update. After much ado about nothing. The college had said the degrees had arrived but as students came in to collect said degrees. The management now says there’s been a batch payment failure. Firstly, this is something students have no control over but management seems to believe otherwise. Whatever you do, don’t ask for Anand from the “Convocation” dept. He’s easily the most unprofessional (unsure if not qualified) individual in college. This is based on the fact that he’s asked a COVID positive former student to come and check if their degree is available at college.

One of the best colleges of india. The campus is very very very big. Inside the building there is a large football field in the center. Then just beside the field there are 2 indoor basketball courts of national size. Then on the 1st floor there is gym with all the equipments. Then at the 2nd floor there is a sibgle wooden badminton court and 3 tt tables folded. On the top floor canteen is present which is a big haal with roof seating. There are many food shops for different cuisines. There is also a shop present for snacks. Near the ground a large peepal tree is planted which intensifies the beauty of the place. The college is divided into many blocks i.e. science block, commerce block, arts block etc. The college is well built. The faculties are also very friendly and understanding. But i only have probelm with the management process. The management takes a lot of time for a simple process. Also the important announcements are told a bit late. But overall the college can be considered one of the best colleges in Bangalore.

Im a biotechnology graduate (2023) To me SJC was a breath of fresh air after all the ridiculous institutions I've been a part of in Delhi for the past 6 years . I had various underlying issues, but everyone around me, including the faculty and staff were so kind, supportive and understanding. I felt really safe opening up to them. Very rarely did i ever feel that they were partial. They addressed each student's issue with the same approach. All facilities available including the library, auditorium, sports, etc are excellent. All the boards were dangerously quick in their responses. The only issue I had was their rigid attendance mandate. There were days when i couldn't get out of bed but had to somehow pull myself together and go to college and ended up sleeping in class. Apart from this, I adore this college. The experience was so beautiful that i sometimes forget the struggles I had to put up with to keep up the pace. Overall i came out of this college fully happy and satisfied and i don't regret taking admission here anyday

It's an age old college and so is the administration and mindset of the faculty. Each and every process in the college is very lengthy and tedious. The classrooms will be on the other side of the busy road, and the faculty department on the other side. The construction itself is very poor. The soccer field has been made into a construction site since more than a year. The campus is very small. Not a single proper canteen is present inside the campus where the students can have a full meal. Nearby restaurants and shops are very less as compared to other college areas. The Botany Department is the worst of all! The teachers are very very narrow minded and have much time involving in students' personal lives and gossiping. The entire process of fees or fine payment or future notices are very confusing and lengthy. This place needs an overall renovation.

  • GYANPRO Supreeth

Namaste, GyanPro had the privilege of working with Students from Department of Psychology; for an International Event which we conducted in the St.Joseph's Auditorium & Campus. The event was held on 3rd & 4th Aug 2019 - STEAM Conference. However, the preparation for the event was since Apr 2019. During this period, The students and Staff of Dept of Psychology were really warm and friendly to work with. All of them were really proactive and very responsible with their tasks. Exhibiting the leadership qualities. Excellent planning and mentoring from the Staff & HOD. Best part was Everyone(Both Students & Staff) carried a big smile with calm demeanor throughout the event , though they had worked tirelessly!! Good culture and learning environment in the Campus!! Kudos to the Management !! GyanPro

Please do not join this college if you are expecting placements from the college end. Join only if you want to timepass and participate in the colorful fests and activities. The college couldn't find our batch a opportunity itself. There is no dedicated placement team in this college. All we get to hear is "we are trying" even after passing out. Fees are high when compared to what facilities we could get. We had a tough time with the teaching and teachers also.Half the studies was done with the help of YouTube because we couldn't understand and when complained about it we were only the culprits.Rather join a decent college which offers decent placement assistance. It just fancy to join here nothing else!!!

  • Abidu Rahman (Abidur)

It has a reputation of being the best in Bangalore but the people running the college are just the worst .. If you take up science here you have already made a mistake Don't be fooled by the infrastructure and the good words there are lots of stuff happening inside Teachers are good but the students most of them are corrupt or into bad habits . On the other hand it will push you towards bad habits and also improve you. This college has its own stupid rules Onto placements .only 10 percent of them get placed My advise if you wanna join this college kindly take up arts or commerce here because the teachers are gems and people are also cool and great don't take science stream here ..

  • Sudhir Rao

I’m a student at this college (‘22 batch). This college is among the finest in Bangalore, alongside Christ University. Facilities include an expansive library, a lush green field, two cafeterias serving tasty food, an indoor basketball court, an indoor badminton court, an a fricking space observatory. They also offer a wide variety of courses and combinations. The professors are experienced, speak English fluently and are generally extremely helpful with issues and struggles a student may go through - such as mental health struggles. Most departments offer UG and a PG counterpart for the subjects. Value for money and value for your education.

  • Prakash B G

St Joseph university visit was quite memorable with good impressions. University shows it's best standards set for other universities also. This university had organized one day Job Mela with collaboration of other two foundations. Conducted so nicely and humanly with excellent cooperation of staff and students. Classrooms here are so spacious and well furnished and set congenial atmosphere for students. So many courses offered and Depts are well maintained with world class staff and amenities. Parking is good. Ventilation and surrounding of university is so nice with perfect environment and sophisticated culture imbibed.

Good clg for bachelor's degrees commerce and science excellent teaching every 1st and 3rd Saturday holidays is good thing extra activities like sports events ,fest, prathiba etc.. and also Happy to announce to you that St Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Bengaluru has been officially upgraded to St Joseph’s University Bengaluru SJUB under the RUSA scheme of MHRD. This is the only Private Aided College in the entire Country to be upgraded to this position. SJUB will start functioning as a university from the academic year 2022-23. It’s truly a proud moment for the Management, the Alumni, faculty and the students of SJC.

The St. Josephs College campus is located in the heart of the city on 8.44 acres of land. The campus consists of a PG Block, UG Block, hostels for students, Fathers’ residence, guest houses, and a playground. The UG Block is divided into sections namely the Humanities Block and the Science Block Commerce Block. The faculty of St Josephs College consists of researchers of high repute both in the sciences and the social sciences. Most of the members of the faculty in all the departments hold Ph.D.’s and continue their research actively. Articles are regularly published in high-end journals.

WENT THERE FOR ADMISSION GOT SELECTED BUT THESE GUYS REALLY PREFER CHRISTIANS VERY STRICT AND UNCOOPERATIVE FOR NON CHRISTIANS THEY WERE NOT EXTENDING DATES FOR MARK-SHEET SUBMISSION OR EITHER WHAT I REALIZED THAT IF I HAD A CERTIFICATE OF BAPTISM THEY WOULD HAVE GIVEN SOME EXTENSION. SENIOR FACULTY MEMBERS WERE PLAYING JOKES BY SAYING "NAARDIS FROM UP AND BIHAR" LACK OF SECULARISM MAY BE STUDIES AND PLACEMENTS ARE GOOD AS THIS COLLEGE IS RUNNING ON WORD OF MOUTH DECENT ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER THINGS ARE GOOD BUT MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WASN'T THAT GOOD

  • Gayathri Devi S

One of my cousins is studying in this college. He is studying in 2nd year now good library good teaching faculty But the fees has been increased by 2% this year after becoming the university for non university students also And another thing what he was feeling bad was he was failed with no reason in his previous semester in One of the course completion requirements he paid 1000 to clear that it seems So lectures and management people please see to thar carefully . Reduce the fees for next year . Other than that everything is fine in this college

  • Akanksha Y

The management is really bad here and NOTHING is well organised. They don't care about the students if you come here your on your own. The teachers don't care about students well being or your circumstances. They are very discriminative towards religion and there is no honest equality. And the the teaching is also not that great, they'll just show you YouTube videos. The St. Joseph's brand might sound fancy and fun because of the fest but it's nothing out of the world. Keep this as your last option, there are better places you could go to.

  • Anmol Dave

I have payed the application fee on 1st may 2022 and i have filled all the necessary details and i have uploaded all the necessary documents too in my application form for masters in English literature PG program, but I'm not aware of the selection criteria and I'm not aware whether I'm selected for the course or not like I'm unaware of everything. Nothing is even available on the website too. Please let me know whether I'm selected for this course or not and what is the next process positively by Tuesday on 17th may 2022.

I am extremely disappointed by the lack of transparency and communication in St. Joseph's University's admission process for the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) program. The university did not inform applicants that the seats were full, nor did it update the website accordingly. Such oversights have caused confusion and wasted time for aspiring students like myself. I urge the university to improve its admission procedures and provide timely updates to avoid similar issues in the future.

  • Tessie

1st hand experience The office staff are the worst, trust me. They will misplace your application and even some important documents . So my advice is, for every document/fees/applications /etc etc that you submit always (and I'm stressing on the word always) keep a clear cut proof that you have indeed submitted or applied for it. Or else you might get into some serious problem and you'll be blamed for it if you don't have proof and it might even mess you up even after your graduation.

  • Trinayan Chakma

St. Joseph’s College ( Autonomous ), one of the best and finest educational institution that I have been. I was there for more than three years as an undergraduate student. Undoubtedly one of the best educational institution in Bangalore. College facilities and staffs were really amazing and helpful. At St. Joseph’s I came across with some of my best teachers and friends. It was like a family. No doubt one of best educational institution I have ever attended. Miss you St. Joseph’s.

  • Kunwarpreet Singh

The college is one of the best in Bangalore. The staff is a mix of good, great, bad and awful teachers. Depends on your luck which teachers you get. The student body doesn't enjoy a lot of freedom and there's a lot of areas where the college needs improvement. The students are from across the country and you'll see a few international students as well. Office processes are slow and take time. The college strictly follow the academic calendar which is really appreciated.

  • Sanjana

Horrible. Visited the college about a month ago and when asked they said the seats were available and asked us to apply after they asked me about how much I had scored in 2nd puc. After applying there was no email/ notification from their end. Did not even care to respond after calling so many times. And today when we went there they are telling the admissions are closed. Have the basic responsibility to atleast inform us. Didn't expect if from such an institution

  • No. Filter Sarah

Its not the collage it seemed to be. The students and the staff both are in a chaos. The place may have good infrastructure but that ends there. No good teachers. Not a good student body either. You will need coaching too. And the administration is not cooperative at all. Students get bullied alot and all you see are girls pulling off a Donatella. Not a good place for your child. Also alot and alot of drama. Really like a sick place ....not good at all.

  • Rahul Saha

Visited for an entrance exam for one of my known friend. Seems to be a good college but as I do not study there but based on comments from friends came to know it’s good college. I was annoyed with the type of arrangement for parking. It’s open air parking where you will be covered with dust if any car passes by you. Needs improvement in infrastructure at least to avoid type dust created by any car while parking and while returning from parking.

  • Rishi Jalan

I got my daughter admitted to SJC. Primarily, I like to point out few thing which I read herein.,: Admin of college is very co operative . The best I have seen in any school or college in my career. The faculty is pro active in providing resolution. Till date no religious discrimination felt. Infrastructure is good. Academic lineage positive. No less than st Xavier's kolkata. Thanks SJC managing team for upholding true academic values.

  • Pankaj

This is the worst college I never seen where teacher talk nonsense in class where in this college use of phones is strictly prohibited but teacher only use there phone in class this rule is made only for students there is no playground in this college they charge for parking on the first date they will tell lot of nonsense thing like we r family bla bla .... Don't believe in that anything they only want money ...

  • smriti kapadia

I just hope the college realises that they're having an affect on so many students. there are so many students who have paid the application money but haven't been interviewed. there are so many students who have been selected in the interview but haven't been able to pay the fees because they removed the link without informing, although they gave 48 hours to pay the fees, they were not able to. thank you.

  • MONISHA AMMU

It is the worst college. There is no proper response from the management. They doesn't even respect the parents. They discourage the students alot rather than encouraging.People say it is the best college but it's not. They say Joseph family one first day but later they forget that and behave like a illmannered way. If you check the results we can find more failure that distinction holders.

  • Sharada Prajna

One of the best colleges for Undergraduate course in Bangalore. Lecturers are superb amazing, friendly and easily approachable. Well maintained labs. Good infrastructure. Many curricular and co-curricular activities are organised by both students and the staff. This gives us an opportunity to bring out the talent in us and showcase them well. Placements are good.

  • Mohammad IMRAN

I think it is the worst college I have ever seen!!!! Becoz caste system still exists there. My friend who belonged to Christian's religion who scored 76% in his SSLC exam was given seat for science and I scored 81% and was rejected. People say it is the best college but it's not!!. Why we muslims have no rights to get education in your clg??

  • Mahek .Lalith

Studying here is one the best things that has happened to me. St Joseph's is like one huge family away from home!! Apart from the excellent education it also instils in you a sense of responsibility and values which I am personally sure will take me a long way. Lastly, the memories you make here at SJC are those you will cherish forever.

  • Shreyas Yadav L G

I have secured 90% in 2nd PUC this year and had applied for b.com course in SJC and I didn't get any seat in this college securing so much percentage was for no use there is a lot of partiality in this college and another person who has got 60% and got a letter from the father has a seat in there it is a shame....... #partialitySJC

  • Shankar Kashyap

I was a student of Joseph's during 1968-72, when it was situated on Residency road. Present situation was Commerce college. The four years - one year PUC and three years BSc - were some of the best years of my life. Excellent teachers, camaraderie and atmosphere. I could not have asked for a better foundation for my life!!

  • Shri Kajan Lakhan

Sporting events, excellent sound system their speakers are about 3 metres in length, covering every possible frequency the human ear can hear. Good for dancing and performances. Short walk to a temple. And outside restaurants. Public transport is excellent...just step out, and one can get transportation just at the gate.

  • Anchal Bajaj

I'm not a student there and I can only talk about the infrastructure and general crowd that I saw. The infrastructure is no doubt awesome! Just how big a college should be! The students seemed nice too but their event management can be a lot better. They seem inexperienced in a lot of co-curricular activities

  • Saradambal Lakshmanan

Very old college no infrastructure, the students are spoiling their life by joining these institutions. In b. Com regular if u are selected please reject it because the faculty was not good and no discipline in students. If u got seat in Christ university join it put don't join in this institutions

  • Rakshith rakshu

Worst college ever seen ! Just come and see how these students be outside and they way the behave . Seats are given only for non localities in Bangalore if I wanna choose one college which would be worst is st Joseph college autonomous . Cheers learn from otr colleges about seat allotment

  • Sajeev Jose

It is a beautiful University run by the Jesuits of Karnataka. The campus is beautiful and the buildings aesthetically constructed. The library is world class. Once it extends to the second campus on Bannerghatta Road, it would be a major centre for higher learning in Bangalore.

  • Rashmi Nagaria

I have filled form for this College , they have not taken my interview and also not sent any reply on my e mail , they have worst management because all other universities at least reply on e mail . I hate the management. Thank God I am not going to such a mismanaged college.

  • ABDUL SAMAD

It's a good institution for the higher studies for ug and pg students even I'm a student from this institution great honor of award from central government from past 5years. Offers lot of future course and a new department of data science has been started in the institution

  • Sandip Mondal

Probably the best place for a student to pass out from, in Bangalore. I studied here. Perfect mix of studies with extra curricular activities. We friends meet here almost every month, that's the kind of bond this place has built for us. Right choice, just go ahead.
