I have nothing but positive things to say about Nick and his crew. I recently purchased a used 2002 BMW 530i and was looking for a reputable mechanic in my neighborhood. A quick Yelp search showed me all the glowing reviews. So I decided to give them a try. 1) First Impression - Judging a book by its cover: You can tell a lot about a shop just by how tidy it's kept. My old mechanic in Long Island City has a shop that always looks like a war zone. He could never find anything (including my car key for pickup sometimes), and always looked stressed. But the guys at Steinway run a tight ship. I believe that (in any profession) if you make the extra effort to keep your work space clean, you'll have less headaches, and you'll waste much less time looking for that elusive socket or screw. Which means you'll have more time to focus on the tasks at hand. At Steinway, you won't find piles of engine blocks, brake rotors and wiring harnesses stacked precariously in random corners. 2) The Diagnosis - I knew buying a used car would need some TLC, and I was mostly concerned with the cooling system on my 530, which is somewhat of an Achilles's heel on BMWs. The gents threw the car on a lift almost immediately and diagnosed a leaky radiator. Something I missed on my initial inspection of the car, but to the trained eye, it was instantly apparent. After some discussion, Nick suggested that I could possibly get away with just replacing the radiator and a hose or two, but we ultimately decided that the best course of action would be to replace the entire cooling system, thermostat, water pump and all related hoses and hardware. I was leaning towards this option anyway for peace of mind. At no time did I feel pressured to commit to more work that I thought was necessary. Nick simply articulated the pros and cons of either route. 3) The Service - After committing to the service, Nick assured me that he would treat the car as is own (he also owns a BMW) and would use only the best parts, either OEM or top-of-the-line 3rd party, depending on the application. They also performed an inspection, installed my new plates and registration sticker flawlessly (I'm usually very particular about the placement of the windshield sticker placement). Nick even proactively replaced the BMW hood emblem on the car because it was old and faded/peeling. This is a shop that cares about your ride. A couple of days later I was back on the road in my "new" car and she purrs like a kitten. I'll be going to Steinway for all my future BMW needs! Thanks again!

Took my car to this location for a NY state inspection as I had a scheduled appointment with Steinway Auto Repair INC, left my car out front of Steinway-Auto Repair INC, (as no one invited me to park my car inside the shop). Went to pick up my car from their shop, and had received a ticket for parking my car without a NY inspection sticker in front of their Auto Repair SHOP. I WAS THERE for a NY STATE Car inspection. The front desk personal at Steinway Auto Repair was very dismissive, and brushed the issue. Overall very disappointed that they would be very unkind and allow me to receive a ticket for a service that I was there to OBTAIN! I Always trust the mechanics I go to 100%, always looking to them for advice and knowlege as I dont have ANYONE in my family to turn too. I Never leave negative reviews ANYWHERE, but this treatment was so disappointing and a complete breach of TRUST. Now, as I prepare to get ready for my Night shift as a nurse, I have to deal with this ticket after a long 12 hour day. Very disapointed customer.

This place i been coming to for all my BMWs now, the x5 the 335i and the 535i i have. This shop most deff. Will get the job done right the first time, but do not come thinking you will get away with the same prices you get in the junkyard. You will get for what you pay for. The prices are given to you before the job is done, and you may think it is expensive, but its always safer to pay and get the job done right. If you are looking for good service, and fast service? This shop will satisfy you needs, the owner calls you as soon as he finds your issue, and always has the car done on the time he says it will be done. This shop is what you call professionalism, and its very convenient for anyone who works alot and just needs to drop it off and pick it up on their time. Nick is the main owner, u will most likely deal with him or Andy his father, and they are both nice guys who perform their job well. Im very secure with them and they are my only spot i go to until today.

I had looked at all the positive reviews prior to going to them 6 months ago. And honestly, I had a positive experience with them as well...at least I thought I did. I went there for a simple oil change. I brought my own oil and oil filter. I'm super anal about my cars so I put in Mobile 1 and K&N oil filter with each oil change. They said they had done the oil change with the parts supplied. I decided to perform my own oil change today only to find out that the oil filter I supplied to them at the last oil change, the one they said they replaced, was never changed. I'm not even sure if they put in the higher quality oil I supplied them with. Very disappointed. Tread with caution.

Went in for an oil change. They didn't screw the cap back on, which caused air to get into my system and my "service engine soon" light to come on and the system to read that the Mass Air Flow Sensor was bad, then later that the oxygen sensors were bad (among other things). Several weeks, two mechanics, and a new mass air flow sensor later, finally found a mechanic who properly diagnosed and fixed the problem --- Steinway Auto Repair didn't screw the oil cap on when they did my oil change. Cost me significant time and hundreds of dollars. Do not recommend.

This place was just terrific. Diagnosed the problem, fixed it efficiently -- very friendly, competent, and easy to deal with. While I was waiting, I saw a guy come in with a complicated problem, requiring the order of a hard-to-get part. They explained to him very patiently what was needed and how long it would take to get the part and do the repair. I could see they were being perfectly honest with him. Though my car's problem was a simple fix, it was good to see how they dealt with a complicated case. Great neighborhood shop! Highest recommendation.

Found this shop online and tried it out because of the other positive reviews, so I wanted to take the time to confirm that I had a great experience with Steinway Auto as well. Brought my car in about 2 weeks ago after the AC in my car went dead. When I brought the car in, Frank welcomed me like an old friend. Can’t say enough good things about how he kept me in the loop during diagnostic and repair, and than went above and beyond to make sure that the problem was fixed correctly. I highly recommend this shop for honest and high quality service.

I had a truly wonderful experience with Steinway Auto Repair. I stopped in without an appointment for a vehicle inspection. Steinway completed the inspection and replaced my worn-out brakes in only 2 hours. They went above and beyond to quickly get the parts needed for the job - the owner walked to the auto parts store instead of waiting for a delivery because he knew I needed to pick up my daughter! Their prices were reasonable and the employees were nice and professional. I cannot recommend them enough.

Came here to see if they could squeeze us in for a brake job (rotors/pads) on an X5 and had a fantastic experience. Nick was knowledgeable and honest about everything and gave a great price for the service. The parts were ordered instantly and the service was completed in half a day. Been here twice: First time for an inspection, and second time to replace my alternator. Both were good experiences. Prices were fair, with absolutely no sketchy pricing. Everything is discussed before any work is done so you know what to expect price-wise ahead of time! This is an honest person taking care of your car. Steinway Auto Repairs is the only mechanic I've gone to since 2014. I found them through YELP reviews after my radiator was leaking after work being done by my last mechanic. Turned out he never replaced the thermostat. Nick and Andy (and now Frank) are so trustworthy. I have an old car and they have kept it running all these years with very little work compared to all my friends and family. It's a no brainer to keep returning to them.

I spoke to Nick ! He told me he will clean A/C filter and recharge the A/C if still A/C doesn’t work then will be compressor need to be changed and cost will be between $100 to $120 plus tax. I paid $144 and he didn’t clean filter neither recharge A/C just told me need to replace compressor. I asked him to do the job I paid for he gave me attitude and telling come on you have mercedese! Lier and scam to next level Never go there

I've lived in NYC with a car my entire life. Never have I had the pleasure of finding a spot like this. Brought in my car one morning with a worrying rattle, Frank said he'd give me a call in the afternoon to let me know what's up. An hour later he tells me I'm all set. This was my second time visiting this spot and I'm so relieved that whenever I have an issue, I've got a place int he neighborhood I know will take care of me.

This auto shop takes care of you! I’m from the Midwest and I can’t believe this gem exists in my neighborhood. The first time I came here they took really good care of my car. I have a 2004 Kia that’s been cross country a few times and they keep it running. Nick and Frank have always worked with me financially and they have never tried to sell me on unnecessary services or parts. These guys are honest and trustworthy.

Came in because I thought my car was dying. The car sounded like it was going to crumple every time I went over the smallest bump. I brought the car in, expecting the worst, and Nick and his team were able to fix it by disassembling and reassembling something that got misaligned. Because of their honesty, I walked away with a really light bill and a car that feels good as new. Highly recommend.

My Mustang needed to be taken to the glue factory until the staff at Steinway Auto Repair got ahold of her. Breaks, leaks, exhaust, stuff I hadn’t even heard of; you name it, it needed serious repair just to pass inspection. A couple of days later, they gave it back to me 100% road ready and legal. I’d recommend them to anybody.

This is by far the greatest place in Astoria to take your car. These folks are honest, fair, talented, friendly, and excellent at what they do.
