I will give this place 5 stars for uniqueness, good cold brew, free almond milk creamer and honey, and great seating. I came here for the first time at opening on a Tuesday and plenty of seats were available. The front is a bookstore and in the back-ish is where you order coffee. There's wonderful patio seating and looks like you can enter the cafe from both sides. I parked on a residential street for free a block away. They give you a glass glass when you dine in or a to go cup to dine out. Very cozy. Definitely will be back!

Stories is a small bookstore and cafe in Echo Park. They have a wooden folding chess board available for patrons to play while they're in the cafe area. The board is very old and classic looking, and some of the wood squares are beginning to warp. The black pieces are missing a rook and have a “Sorry” piece in its place. Check the back counter of the cafe area (see photo for exact location) to find where the board is stored when not in use.

Stories is a cafe/book store that is the ultimate spot to hang out in. The cafe serves coffee, kombucha, beer, and wine and has pastries by Clark Street. There’s a back patio and some indoor seating. Wifi is available for customers! There are also a lot of books to look through at decent prices. Love coming here to support small businesses and hang out!

Awesome space and selection of books. Though the rudest customer service I have ever experienced. I went up to the register and the person behind the register didn’t even look at me said she was busy and couldn’t help. Not even a sorry for the inconvenience it will be 5 minutes so I just set the books back down and won’t be coming back.

A place for those who savor community and the life of the mind. Books, coffee, high ceilings, north facing light in a cozy little bookstore typically full of characters in front of and behind the Cafe counter. Also a nice courtyard out in the back alley. This is a quintessential city bookstore/cafe for quintessential urban people.

Place wants at least $10-15 more on books than what you could get at Amazon or even a Target. I know it's a good thing to keep small businesses alive and running but that's also up to the individual. Sometimes there are free events at night in patio that may interest some. But it can get cold back there. Cafe's menu is small.

This is the worst punk folk alternative cafe shop EVER. I've been here 4 times and 3/4 times they have got my coffee order wrong or have made my coffee with absolutely no care in the word. Worst customer service in a cafe i've experienced, which is very hard to do in a cafe. Their coffee is very mediocre. This place suuucks.

Their ditty Chai latte is the best I've ever had by a margin. It's been a week and I can't stop thinking about it. It's perfect for those that want to be caffeinated but don't want something too sweet. It's really unique, I can't recommend it enough. The vine if this place is super cute too. It's really a hidden gem.

Absolutely love this place! It is small, but the book selection is phenomenal. Also, the cafe space, including a pretty large outdoor area, is wonderful. I had a sandwich on Sunday that I am still daydreaming about on Wednesday! I think it was called the hippie sandwich and I had it made vegan.

Coffee is more potent than Starbucks. There is Wi-Fi here. There’s a large selection of books, but not very diverse with genres. The plus side is that they do carry indie authors. Some of the staff here lack customer service skills, so do your business and don’t take anything personal.

I don't usually see kids here, but I bring my 6 year old daughter all the time. They have a nice Children's book selection and the coffee bar in the back also carries a delicious (not to mention cheap!) hot chocolate that can be made with oat milk. I love this little cozy bookshop.

Good people here at Stories. Claudia is invincible, generous, dedicated, and caring. This space has functioned as my refill station, my sanctuary, my portal to many next phases in my life. Food, mood, and books fuel healing. Thank you Stories.

Quirky, artsy, but front and center is the awesome ceiling high shelves of books. Has a neat little cafe, patio seating, yummy breakfast stuffs. The only reason I’m not always here is that it’s popular and I miss out on seating half the time

I’ve lived a few blocks from this bookstore for over 5 years. It’s great to have a small independent bookstore within walking distance, and the coffee shop in the back is a major plus. Unfortunately, most times I’ve visited the store, I’ve

I was in search of a few books and wanted to support a local independent bookstore (even though I could get it for 50% less at the company-who-shall-not-be-named) so I was excited to visit Stories Books & Cafe because I live down the road!

This is a great bookstore/Cafe. The atmosphere is great, you can skim through their books and order a coffee. They have seating inside and also an outside area which is nice and calm as it is not facing the street but a parking lot. The

Stories used to be one of my favorite places to go to in Echo Park to relax, get coffee and journal until my partner and I experienced the rudest customers at the cafe. It felt like we were intruding by simply being a customer. Both

Can we please be nicer to each other? There’s no reason to be rude to customers. Yes, people can be difficult every so often (I was a waiter for 15 years, so I get it), but starting off a transaction with dark energy is toxic.

Super-duper bookstore and coffeeshop. Lots of different books you wouldn't find other places. Large sitting area next to the coffee area. Discussion encouraged. Overhead jazz was the perfect accompaniment for the ambience.

Great dirty chai. Not a huge selection but an interesting well-curated bookstore with cafe seating inside, back patio, as well as out front on Sunset. They also sell Incienso De Santa Fe and some cutesy cards.

  • Elly Vanasco

Best curated small bookstore... maybe ever? Staff has excellent taste and there's a great selection of small press books, zines, etc. But more than that, Stories is an LA lit world community hub.

  • Laurel Clark

Finally visited this place! Awesome. Great chai latte. A nice selection of other drinks and food. Loved the selection of unique postcards - I'm already on the lookout for unusual

  • Julia Griffin

Good service despite Square being down! Very interesting variety of books and I enjoyed hanging out in the outdoor space, chatting and having an iced chai. Would return.

Stories is a must stop in Echo Park! Roam the book store while sipping a cold coffee or possibly a mimosa in the eve. Their new kombucha is fresh and vibrant …

  • justus l

Really cool vibe, probably overpriced books, and coffee is whatever. I like it in theory, would be cooler with more used books and a better coffee program

  • Surbhi Kedia

Lovely place! I loved the vibe in here and they had very good collection of all kind of stuff. Bonus points for magazines from Fluke publishing house!

  • Miriam Minick

ROGIE AND ROBERT bring their amazing new authentic food every Sunday At Stories! Always delicious! Always different surprise menu!!!! A Sunday MUST!

  • Kevin Burnette

My favorite cafe in LA, great bookstore with a robust art book collection, and some other rare finds

  • Breanna Sanchez

The cafe is very aethetic. Staff was a bit passive aggressive. Doesn’t feel very welcoming to POC.

  • Misty Wang

Good vibe and categories for books.
