I wouldn't even give a.star if I didn't have to. We came from out of town to bring the kids to see the characters. First day we tried to come they were closed because the windy weather. Called this morning to see if they were opened since weather is beautiful and got automated line. We even stopped by the welcome center to see if they knew if they are open before we drove out of the way again. She said 1000% will be opened. So we walk in at 11 and seen a sign that said they were opening at 1 because of tree removal. I asked the front desk if they were for sure opening at one they said yes. Came back at 2 and the tree removal people are gone and doesn't close until 430 but still not opening any today. The lady working the desk was so hateful and didn't want to help or answer any questions at all. My kids want to see the characters so bad but it's not worth the hassle to deal with being treated so badly. Won't be back at all. There were a handful of people that came from out of town to take senior pics and their trip was wasted also because they just decided not to open without giving a reason at all.

This is an excellent place to visit. Has an entry ticket, but they have bundle offers that discount the ticket prices. Totally worthy of visiting. Kids had the best times in this place in our entire NOLA visit. Its like a little carnival with festive twist to it. They had a lot of good rides that our kids enjoyed thoroughly. They have lots of options for little kids and adults to ride on. It is a perfect family get away to spend the evening. They have a smores section. Do not miss out on this! They have a drive through of beautiful christmas lights! We were surprised to see our names on Santas digital board of nice and naughty list. Do enter the names of your party people when you place the order. That's the magic trick to see your name pop on Santas digital list.

Fun for kids and adults with kids. I can with my friend who has a toddler under 2. For this of us without kids, at least they have a cooler fridge with beer & wine that you can take with you as you walk through the park! It was also fun for me, yes even without the beer. I definitely recommend it for anyone with smaller children and if you need your kids to get their energy out. It does cost to get in, I don’t know how much but it isn’t a lot. There is only one story book scene that was too big for our toddler that’s under 2 and that was the jack & the bean stalk. It is a jungle gym that goes about 4 stories high and then has a winding slide going down. We thought about going with her but it was a popular one for the older kiddos so it would be too much for a small toddler under 4.

It wasn't clear to me from other reviews where exactly this is located. But, it is located inside the HUGE New Orleans City Park. And while it was pretty neat, it definitely needs some work & more to do. They do have a HUGE slide that you have to climb SEVERAL stories up to be able to go down it. By far the highest slide I've ever seen in my life. So that was really cool. I just wish there was more places to actually play here. It was disappointing to my son that there wasn't. Maybe this would be better for older kids that know the nursery rhymes that are referred to throughout this park. They also have a life size Candy Land game that was really neat. I wish my little man had been old enough to play! Please note this was May 2nd, 2021, before the latest hurricane.

Only upon doing the research for the writing of this review did I realize that there is a separate entrance fee for Storyland from the entrance fee for the Botanical Garden... The entrance for Storyland is shared with the Botanical Garden (C.T. Parker Building). I really wish I was 5 again, and I can totally imagine the awe on my face seeing all these classic story book characters in real life. Well, I didn't really have to imagine, there were plenty of children running around me when I visited, and their smiling faces tells it all. I even saw a few teenagers in the park taking some less than savory pictures for their Instagram. I guess this place brings out the "children" for people of all ages.

For children and adults who love all folktales and beloved stories from childhood, this was a really beautiful, unique place to visit! Lots of nice pictures for the family to take. My sons favorite was a giant obstacle course with a huge slide at the end! We agree, another place to return to! Admission fee isn’t high, bottled water and small snacks also available for purchase prior to entering Storyland! Has a beautiful gift shop as well but it was closed when we went; only bummer! They had some amazing things I would’ve loved to by, just seeing things through the window!! Perk to this place is the free garden exhibit located just in the other side!! A gardeners peace of heaven on earth!

we went to storyland/botanical garden in the winter, the amusement rides were closed, the advertised mini-train, which runs the loop in the park was shut down, the historic train gardens inside the botanical garden, which requires an entrance fee were not running. the gardens themselves we under the weather from the frost, understandable, but attendant did not bring that to our attention before paying our admission fee. my toddler had a nice time running around the storyland playground. i wish there was more of an attempt to update via social media or website news what is running and what is not in the park.

  • James Gardner

Really quaint and cute, great for kids under 8. The kids ran from spot to spot and wanted to try everything. The dragon slide was the by far the favorite. Some of the areas could be better maintained, but any issues were minor. improved water fountains would by my main suggestion. All the fairytale experiences were fun for smaller kiddos my older ones were itching to go into the amusement park area after 20 minutes or so...I am not sure why they charge for adults to go in...but oh well.

  • Akram Kaki

Nice little fairytale land. The kids seemed to enjoy it, but since there's a cover charge for both adults and kids, I would expect there to be more things to do there other than take pictures of my kids standing behind a few statues with their face cut out. They have 3 slides. But that's about it. The rest is just outdated fairytale cartoon status. Oh an the train that circles the entire park for an extra $5. Thing's would be different if the amusement park and thrill rides were open.

  • Arelys R

Cute place specially for toddlers-4 to 5 y/o . For us a one and done experience as our high energy little one was bored less than an hour of arriving. Thankfully the city park playground is across the street. $6.00 pp for this seems much for what it has to offer. Unfortunately, carousel gardens is closed during the colder months. Otherwise, we would have gone there.

Storyland is a fantastic place for children to let their imaginations run wild. In an old-school manner of entertainment, this small theme park is based on characters from common children's stories, bringing them to life for the imagination. This unique children's attraction is interactive and colorful, sheltered from the hot sun by ancient oaks. This historic attraction is one of very few of its type left in the U.S., and well worth a visit with the children.

  • Karen Spahn Jorgenson

Storyland is magical park shaded by centuries old majestic oak trees. Children who of nursery rhyme age will enjoy age old characters such as Snow White, the three pigs, ole King Cole and any more. They can climb Jack and Jill’s hill, Puff the Magic Dragon or Jack’s beanstalk. They can enter Cinderella’s pumpkin, a space ship and Alice’s Wonderland. This hidden gem is always updated, clean and fun. Parents will enjoy it as much as their children.

  • Alicia G.

I brought my very imaginative 9 year old here during our vacation to New Orleans. He had a great time as well as my 14 year old my husband and I. It was fun to interact with fun storybook characters. We explored the whole storyland and had a great time. There was quite a bit to explore as well as fun little facts and stories to read along the way.

Between creepy & cool, but mostly cool. I was a little hesitant when my husband recommended we try this place while we were in New Orleans but I am glad I didn’t listen! My oldest is 8 & youngest is 3. They all had a blast. It definitely helps if your children are more familiar with fairytales but not necessary as it’s all fun and different. If you’re in New Orleans and looking for something kid friendly to do, this is for sure it!

  • E K

It was a cute place to visit. A lot of the things were missing such as a speaker at the 3 pigs, chimes at another so it was disappointing how much was not functioning, especially since you pay $6 to get in. We made the most of it though. No matter how narrow I went up each stair and down each slide :)

Standing water everywhere we turned. So glad our kiddos wore their rain boots today even though it did not rain. Pinocchio and the whale, little red riding hood, and the three little pigs were not working at all. Jack and the beanstalk exhibit was not even open yet had a sign saying opening fall 2019. Has great potential if everything was taken care of and had better drainage for all of the standing water.

  • Mandie Trahan

I love Storyland at City Park. This was our 2nd visit an it did not disappoint. They have added things since the last time we went. We spent a few hours playing and taking pictures. Both my children enjoyed it. My girls are 6 and 2. Also, a word of wisdom, the dragon slide is fast. Don't let it fool you. I wish my hometown had something remotely as beautiful or awesome for the children to enjoy.

  • Kristen Ford

Very cute, it does cost $4.00 to get in which isn't bad if you're there on the weekend during Spring or anytime during Summer because then the admission includes Carousel Park with rides. But it is a nice with picnic tables and Storybook Characters and slides to play on . Great picture opportunity and Putt Putt just across the parking lot as well as bike and paddle boat rentals across the park.

  • Walid Wannous

Our 6 years old really enjoyed the experience it's really well thought of and is well recommended if you are visiting Nola with kids! We were still disappointed by the many closed attractions due to the pandemic! And think they could have opened more parts while still taking Covid measures. The figures could have been maintained better but kids do not care they will have great time!

  • Beki Marshall

Super cute place for younger kiddos maybe 7 and younger. But we went on a chilly day so not many kids were there at all, which wass nice. The hand sanitizers were all empty. And the video stuff didn't work. Could use a good clean up. The price has gone up since COVID. They should change that on the website or at least honor the price when you come to the door.

  • Teresa Benton

Always love this place. Mask are required. All of the things that kids would normally touch have been taken out or covered up to reduce contact. Hand wash stations have been added with soap and sanitizer. Admission is $5 or $5.50. The new Jack and the bean stalk slide is a nice addition. Everything has a fresh coat of paint on it. My child loves this place.

  • melody rae

The carousel and roller-coaster is not available except on weekends--very difficult for my autistic son to understand when they allowed it open for a school outing. Also the cashier for the tickets wasn't aware that the city park train also wasn't running and for some odd reason there was no water in the park around the attractions.

  • David Ashton Reed

Had no idea this place existed. Spent some of my childhood in NOLA, and my parents never brought me to Storyland. Very magical place that we will definitely visit again. The fair rides are currently not running, but strongly recommend the train ride (which is operational). Totally worth a half (or full) day of quality family time!

  • Huab Lauj

My kids wanted to attend so we took a trip down. It's very worth the price, which is very low, and the children had a lot of fun. I did too. It does need a little makeover as some of the statues are older, but still a very fun place to explore.

Storyland was cute and my 5-year-old loved it, but they could definitely use some upgrades. Several of the interactive features weren't working and some of it seemed to be falling apart. That didn't bother my kids at all, but it wasn't as much of an all-day experience as I was hoping for, more like for an hour or maaaaybe two.

  • Shatilah Perry

Storyline was an absolute joy. My daughter had fun riding the train and also climbing the slides. The large storybook statues were pretty cool. I think this was the highlight of our day. Looking forward to visiting again in the future.

They're closed on Mondays, the one day I had off during my work trip to New Orleans. I so badly wanted to go inside. But the place looks magnificent. I am a child at heart and was delighted to find a place like this, IF ONLY THEY HAD BEEN OPERATIONAL THAT DAY. I do hope to make it back to New Orleans one day and visit.

  • Jordan Grimes

Took my 9 yr old here on our trip to New Orleans. For only $6 we got access to a very unique storytelling experience but the best part was the amusement park right in the middle. My kid rode every ride at least twice. Definitely a gem in this city and a great inexpensive to bring your child or just the young at heart.

  • Lacey Moses

Some of the displays are in disrepair and honestly I was disappointed it was not just a free playground because it's mostly just that a playground. The displays are cute but clearly not very well maintained. Could see it used in the walking dead as part of a wasteland. $6 a person 3 and up

  • JC3

Love story land. Kids have so much fun there. Dragon slide is a big hit. Nice place to attend a birthday party too. Worth the price of admission. While you're there take the train around the park. The canopy of live oaks over story land is beautiful and brings welcome shade in the summer.

  • Amanda Hubbard

This was a fun, kid friendly place in New Orleans. It was just re-done so everything was beautiful. The kids loved running off steam and there was so much to use there imagination with, including a real life Candyland board! They even had hand sanitizing stations set up along the way!

  • tosha smith

The name is more exciting than the actual park itself. There's really nothing for kids under 5 to do or unless you want to pay $25 for the overpriced rides and even then your child is only able to ride one ride. City Park as a whole is beautiful.....story land was a disappointment.

  • Cecily Caudle

You must bring your kid here if you go to new Orleans! It's $6 to get in, or free with entry to amusement park. 10 or under is going to LOVE ot

This was a cute little play area for kids. It's a shame that they haven't kept it in good repair. The books tell the kiddos to do things that don't work, which was frustrating for my kiddo but otherwise it was good. Peaceful. A couple benches for parents. Well shaded.

  • Z

The best place to take kids for a wonderful time in Nola. Took my 2 boys and my 7 year old said it was the best day of his life lol but it really is a very cool place that tries to recreate fairytales so that kids can actually live the stories. …

  • Lauren Martino Henry

This was the best thing we did on our New Orleans vacation! Perfect way for a 2yo to run and play and pretend she was in a book. Beautiful setting among the mature oak trees of the park. Easy access with stroller and plenty of parking nearby.

  • Jack Buisson

Overall it was nice going down memory lane, as some of these displays are older than me 60+ years, and in great shape others need cosmetic repairs, nothing kids under 7 would notice or care about, the place was clean and overall showed well.

  • JP D

The incorporation of nature here is amazing. It really is a fantasy land. It was a little rainy, so it cooled the summer heat for the day. Kids loved it. There is a giant climbing tower with a tall spiral slide and lots of story book scenes.

  • Brooke Rainwater Bate

My son had a blast. Just wish the train had been running the day we were there. Didn't realize it only ran on weekends. The nursery rhymes, Alice and wonderland, Disney characters and more were brought to life and we had a blast going.

  • Gx B

A fun time for family. Cost is $5 per person. The dragon is a large slide which my 2 year old loved. They also have a massive play area that she enjoyed climbing as well. If you're in New Orleans with young kids, check this place out!

  • Kristen Morgan

Classic and updated! I remember this from my childhood as does my mom from hers. It’s now updated and better than ever. Beautifully landscaped to take you on an adventure through childhood tales with slides and activities to enjoy.

  • hannah stansbury

Nursery rhyme themed play area. Mother goose, humpty dumpty.... I've brought my kids for years as my parents brought me. Great for little tykes. The walk around City Park after to admire the gardens make for a perfect outside day.

  • Jalicia Slack

The best place to have a kids party! My daughter loves StoryLand and they gave the best birthday experience ever. Her friends’ experienced fun times and made some great memories. Thanks so much City Park, staff, and all!

  • Alex Giacalone

I liked the layout or the park. My daughter had a blast, especially on all the slides. There are some spots on all the nursery rhymes that need some repair(paint, one of the pigs noses, ect.) Had a great time regardless

  • Seth Blackwell

For $6 a person it's easily the best bang for your buck in New Orleans. Way better and cheaper than the children's museum. Rides weren't running but I figure that's why it's only $6. Still worth it if your with kids.

Colorful storyland a small place built for kids. They have sculptures of the famous rhymes & stories where kids explore and play around. Picture perfect location!! It has 2 slides and a train ride.

  • Miggy Rosario

Storyland was such a fun little attraction. We were on vacation and figured this would be a funny place to get some selfies. Obviously this is meant for kids but as adult women we had a blast!

  • Christina Nichols

Super cute concept! My 8 year old enjoyed. A lot (MOST) of the stuff was broken, chipped, missing, and old looking. The place has potential but lacked any repairs or updates. Staff was nice!!!

  • Denyse Sawyer

Great place to go with the family. Nice facilities. Kids love it. Not badly priced. City Park is right next to storyland, so you can take a break and come back. Tickets last all day.

This is a whimsical little spot for all to enjoy. As an adult, I enjoyed walking around to check out each little story area. Very creative and unique attraction.

Had a great time. The park has been cleaned and restored since the last time I went. My little one had a blast. To bad the amusement park next door was closed.

So cute! My 2 yr old daughter loved it. Recognizing the characters and taking pictures was awesome. Perhaps on some of the statues they could give a little TLC

  • Ryan Reames

We happened to get there right as they opened so it was still relatively quiet. It's a cute interactive park for kids. lots of stuff for them to do!

  • Vietlao

Amazing place to go you can easily spend hours here and enjoy yourself price is pretty cheap to get in its about 30 bucks for me my wife and 3 kids

  • A Bernhard

Great new orleans original that I've been going to since childhood and it still has the magic. Bring lots of water if you're going in the summer!

  • Julia Howells

Cute spot inside city park. It was pretty warm but shaded well. The 4 stars is because it wasn’t as clean as I would have liked but still great!

  • Yolanda Crawford

Beautiful place. I had a great time taking pics and reliving the stories of my youth. I highly recommend for kids and for the young at heart.

  • Mandy Nguyen

Love visiting here to see the Christmas lights. I'm glad we chose to see the lights during the week, because there weren't many people.

The area could use a bit of upkeep but regardless it's pretty neat for the kiddos to play just make sure to take some bug repellent
