I don’t normally write reviews but this business really frustrated me. I first visited the salon after a terrible chop at great-clips. I had an absolutely amazing appointment and set up another a few months down the line. In those few months I started college, and had recently gotten a new cat. The Monday before my Thursday appointment I received a text reminder about my appointment and I wholeheartedly thought I went online and canceled it. I know I at least tried because the cat I just got has had some emergency medical issues and I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford the appointment considering I paid $102 for me to get my hair fixed the last time. I told the woman all of this on the phone and she said she had to charge me 100% for the appointment since I didn’t show up, I asked her to please don’t charge me I attempted to cancel and I don’t have the money and that my account would go negative if she charged me as I had just paid $315 to help my sick cat at the Vet. She would not back down and had no sympathy at all. I’m all for small owned businesses and even tipped generously on my first appointment because I know how hard it is right now. But if your company can’t have the same compassion for your customers I want nothing to do with it anymore. I told them women I would be disputing the charge and I got a sassy “Thanks for letting us know” and as soon as we hung up the phone I checked my account and sure enough I was already charged. Very very inconsiderate.

Instagram & Tiktok: themysticmuse_ Facials: It’s been 2months since I have been visiting this place for my facials. The first month I got signature facial & this month- microdermabrasion. Both of these were done by Kameron. From the moment I walk in, she makes me feel comfortable and relaxed. She thoroughly explains the process and answers all of my questions. During the treatment, she was gentle and attentive, making sure I was comfortable at all times. My skin felt absolutely amazing afterwards and I could see a noticeable difference in its texture and appearance. Not only is Kameron highly skilled in her craft, but she is also incredibly friendly and personable. I felt like I was chatting with an old friend throughout the whole process. Overall, I highly recommend Kameron for anyone looking for a professional and effective facial treatment. She is truly the best! Sugaring: This month was my first time having sugaring at this place with Kameron. I had an amazing experience especially with Brazilian sugaring. She was so professional and made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. I was nervous at first, but she walked me through each step and made sure I was okay throughout. The sugaring process was quick and virtually painless. I was amazed at how smooth and soft my skin felt afterwards! Kameron has a true talent for sugaring, and I will definitely be coming back for future Brazilian appointments.

Ashley is an amazing hair stylist and it's about time she had her own business! I'd equate her experience, expertise and customer service skills similar to that of purchasing a car from a luxury dealership...the knowledge, the attention to detail and the level of service you get is unparalleled. It's just so much better than the average dealership or hair stylist. If you're looking for a stylist who's work is truly her art, Ashley is your girl. I've had a number of crappy haircuts in the last few months because I keep trying to avoid a commute from Bothell to Seattle to see Ashley and guess what?...Every time I learn a very hard lesson and Ashley has to fix my hair. If cost or commute are a concern of yours, trust me she's worth every cent and minute...you'll pay more to see someone else in the long run...either in embarrassment or repeated attempts to get a decent haircut. The best news, her salon has free parking in the garage and if that's full very easy access to street parking or other lots! Do yourself a favor and become a client, you'll be entertained and come out looking like a million bucks!

I am a loyal long time sugaring client and cannot say enough positive things about Sugar & Shears! I've been seeing Karina for around 6 years and am a proud supporter of her growing business. My sugaring experience is a testament to how much it works! I have incredibly coarse, naturally curly, dark hair. Shaving was always horrific, resulting in painful razor burn and ingrown hairs all over. I really wish I had documented my sugaring journey over the last 6 years because it has been a life changer! Sugaring is so perfect for my sensitive skin and has dramatically reduced the coarseness. I wish I could go back in time and tell my middle school self that struggled with Nair and razor burn at pool parties that a future existed with a cute bikini line, thanks to Karina and other providers at Sugar & Shears. For coarse, curly hair folks that struggle like me - GO TO SUGAR & SHEARS and get on the sugaring journey. I always feel lifted after my appointments and it's a reliably great experience. I trust all the providers at the shop! Cannot recommend this place enough.

I cannot express how wonderful Sugar and Shears is. The Venue is chic, modern, and inviting. The staff make you feel welcomed and appreciated. Any service I have gotten here by any provider has been exceptional. Every one is always punctual, professional and friendly. I have had services by both Ashely and Kalalni, and was very pleased with the results. They both take the time to listen to what you want, discuss what is maintainable while respecting what you want. I think that is very important. Karina and Bella: I have had sugaring and facials from , and again, I was very pleased, and never left with the feeling of disappointment or regret. This Salon and spa offers quality and satisfaction. Ashely and Karina have created a salon and spa that not only meets standards and expectations, they and their team work to go above and beyond that. Whether is surgaring, brow shaping, eye lash tinting and perm, facial, hair cut and various ways to color your hair, you will leave refreshed and satisfied.

Words cannot express how happy I am that these two hardworking ladies have a place of their own! Sugar & Shears is a fun and fresh environment, the perfect space for Ashley and Karina Cecilia to showcase their talents and creativity. I've been seeing Ashley for years...and it's always a treat to get my hair did. She sees just about the whole fam now. From making me a fun blonde and everything in between (naturally brunette) to turning my little girl into a magical unicorn mermaid, she does it all! I recently had the pleasure to experience Karina's esthetician skills...and cannot wait to come back! I learned so much about what skin regimens can help with my breakouts and dehydrated skin. Best facial... ever! So proud of these boss babes! Highly recommend all day errday. If you don't know, now you know. *mic drop*

ashley has been cutting and coloring and styling my hair for ten years. there’s a reason why i come from kitsap county to see her: she’s the best. with an impeccable sense of style and superb customer service, you will always get what you want and look modern. the space itself is gorgeous, clean and sleek. the service is the best in the industry. the final results are incredible; she can take my pitch black hair and lift and tone and deposit color in ways that other hair dressers wouldn’t dare do, letting me be unbelievably creative with what i want. from tiffany blue to peach to green and pink, red to platinum blond, she’s done it all for me. all while keeping my hair at maximum health. and i’m so glad she finally has her own space to express her creativity and artistry!

Updated my ratings. The owner reached out to me and was able to fix my hair exactly the way I wanted it. Thanks! Great facials, look elsewhere for haircut. I told her exactly what I wanted with a photo, I did the same thing with my previous haircuts but none of them had any trouble following. But all this "hairstylist" had were a million excuses as to why she couldn't cut my hair properly. All the excuses in the world cannot cover up the lack of ability. This is the worst haircut I've ever gotten. Now I've to go around town looking like Willy Wonka until I can find another salon to fix my hair. I specified about 800 asking for layers and she proceeds to "blend" them away. For what joy? Just a terrible terrible experience. And it's not cheap either.

Jamie is the best! I see her for all of my skincare and sugaring needs. My skin has NEVER looked better, the products she recommends are effective and less expensive than what I was using before. Her facials are relaxing, feel amazing, and give great results as well. In regard to sugaring, I’ve gone to many places in the greater Seattle area and Jamie hands down gives the most painless experience possible when it comes to sugaring. She’s also very detail oriented and ensures every hair is removed when doing sugaring services. I just tried brow tinting for the first time today with my sugaring brow maintenance and I love it!

This salon is stunning! I’m always worried about going anywhere new. And even more worried when I trust anyone with my hair. My hair stylist Kalani, was AMAZING! She truly listened to exactly what I wanted and went above and beyond my expectations! I will fallow Kalani, and I can truly say I won’t trust anyone else but her with my hair again. Her Technic, knowledge and personality made for the best salon experience I’ve ever had. Thank you Kalani, for making me feel beautiful and making my hair something I’m proud of. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair! I called sugar and shears in a panic years ago after another salon fried my hair and they immediately got me in to fix it! Ashley is such an amazing owner and stylist! I book out with her 6-12 months in advance to make sure I can get on her calendar. I also have gone to them for sugaring and facial services. I did multiple hydrofacials before my wedding and never had so many compliments on my skin! I’ll continue to come here for hair and facials as long as I live in Seattle they are the best!

Vanessa is an AMAZING stylist that I have been seeing for a couple years now!!! I don’t trust anyone else with my hair. I have super thick, wavy hair, and I have never gotten a better hair cut from anyone else! She knows how to cut it so that it doesn’t end up frizzy or a weird shape. I can style it straight, curled, or air dry and it looks great. She does a really great job with balayage as well. It always looks so natural and beautiful! The salon itself is super cute and nice and clean. Great atmosphere overall.

I started coming here for sugaring services and now myself and my family come here for our hair cuts as well. Shelby did my partner's hair. Olivia styles my 3 year old and myself. She does great with my little one and I love the color she did on my hair recently. I see Avalon for sugaring services and she is great! Super gentle and thorough. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Inside there are lots of skin and hair products to choose from and I have never been disappointed in any product I've purchased.

I had a wonderful experience at Sugar & Shears. It was my first time there. I was treated in a very friendly, yet professional way. Karina the owner was very welcoming, and I felt very comfortable and relaxed during my appointment. I saw Avalon for a Brow Lamination / Brow tint / brow shaping with sugaring, & lip and chin sugaring. Avalon was very professional and did a wonderful job. I love my brows & have received lots of compliments since. I have rebooked with Avalon & look forward to my next visit . :)

Friendly and talented staff!! The one place in Seattle that has me coming back for all my hair needs - cuts, color and general maintenance. I even got my boyfriend to check it out and he loves them too! He has curly hair - think ringlets - and was very particular about finding a stylist that could work with his hair. However, Kalani came to save the day. She has also done a BEAUTIFUL job with my hair color (a dark brown to blonde hair) too! Highly recommend checking this salon out!

I was given Sugar & Shears and Ashley’s name by a girl whose hair I saw and loved. I was looking for a new stylist so I was nervous going into it (as we all are). Ashley was easy to talk to, professional, and I adore my cut and balayage color. It was literally perfect! Pricing was competitive and I was so pleased with the service and atmosphere. I scheduled my follow-up in 3 months before I left. I’ll definitely be a customer of Ashley’s for life! Highly recommend!

Kalani is an amazing colorist! I came to her after a bad color job, and I needed it fixed before my vacation. She knew what to do to fix my color, but asked for a second opinion so I would feel more confident. She blended the dark and blonde beautifully, and her hand-painted balayage was flawless. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, and she asked questions to clarify and make sure she understood completely. She nailed it! She has a client for life now

Could not hype this salon up enough! All the folks working there are just wonderful and I’ve been going for over 2 years now. I get sugaring services and also hair services done here and have not been disappointed yet!! They all care about you as the customer and you get great customer service! They have a range of products to pick out if you’d like. They carry Olaplex and Davines lines, and I’ve been loving using those products. I do love this salon!!

I have been going here since they opened and I can’t recommend the business more. From hair, to sugar to facials, they really are the best. They take the time to really get to know you and the outcome you want with the service and are just genuinely nice to talk to during the appointment. Additionally, they are a zero waste business. I mean, you can’t get better than that!! Splurge on yourself, because they are worth it.

I came to this salon based on a recommendation from my company - and I am so glad that I did! The salon is really warm and welcoming. I got a hair treatment and haircut with Viet P - she was super helpful in giving advice and she did a wonderful job with my hair. Plus, she was a delight to chat with! Vanessa is Amazing! I’ve been getting my hair cut from her for about a year and half now. Growing my hair has always been difficult. Now, my hair has never grown so much! She cuts just the right amount, and doesn’t go overboard like stylists have in the past! She always goes the extra mile to ensure good service and I’ve loved all the products she’s recommended for my hair type. Highly recommend!

I had such an amazing experience here! Olivia was my stylist and she did a spectacular job. I came in with a hot mess of home dyed hair with 3 different bands of color from over the years and she turned me into a beautiful purple mermaid! Bella has been doing my brows and facials for years! Her facials leave my skin glowing and I feel like I don’t even need makeup for weeks after, I get compliments on my brows all the time and I she’s the only person I go to to make sure they’re perfect. She’s kind, funny and highly experienced and will take amazing care of your skin!

I had a facial, brow shaping, and tinting with Bella today. It was an amazing experience! The staff there is so nice and friendly and the treatments themself were amazing. My brows have never looked better and my face feels amazingly soft and dewy. I highly recommend this salon and will be coming back next week for some lash TLC. ❤️

Olivia W. is an amazing stylist who knows just how to work with my hair (fine but lots of it!). I’m graying quite a bit and she helps me cover but keep it blended for great grow out. I love the environment at sugar & shears. Always feels calm, clean and inclusive. Make sure you book ahead, because this place is a gold mine!

For a birthday gift to myself I treated myself to a HydraFacial with Bella. The Facial she gave me was hands down the best that I have ever had! She takes her time caring for your skin while educating you in the process. Bella definitely takes the upmost pride in what she does. Thanks Bella for making my skin amazing.

She is always thoughtful about what I am looking for, patient with my thick hair, and creative when I'm not sure what I want. I am looking forward to the next time Vanessa colors and cuts my hair.

I see Jamie religiously every 4 weeks - we do sugaring instead of waxing. It has changed my life. She is gentle but thorough. The salon is well situated on capitol hill. Everyone who works there is friendly and they have an amazing assortment of products. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
