As a grown woman I overcame child abuse. After a relative brutally raped me I had to go to court with my family to testify about things that made me uncomfortable. At seventeen years old my aunt allowed men around me and they did inappropriate things. Eventually I became pregnant by my child dad who also was abusive to me. We decided to break up for the better and just be respectful parents for our child. In 2014 judge Ditorro granted full joint legal custody to both of us me and there father now share custody in which we do seven days in and seven days off. My issue is that I work and pay taxes and because my child's father is selfish he continues to claim the child each year without allowing me to get back the money's that federal and state ate taking from me and my child each year. He does not care about the fact that the judge told us we need to communicate who will claim and for which yeah. The judge said if he does not comply I have a right to come back to court and get an order that week state the tax years for whom which can claim the child and from what period. I feel as though because the judge trusted him to make a good decision as a dad instead of writing it on paper that the court is causing me and my child pain and suffering. Someone stole his car so he rushed claimed my son again and got a new car and did not care about how me and there child get back and forth it's not fair to me to have to keep asking for a trial. Not fair to me to have to go through all I'm going through when he's the one that did not follow the court order. Also I have arthritis from walking a lot my son was borderline diabetic and I had to take him to the doctor because his dad does not keep up with his health. When I have a issue with his dad the court feel as though it's ok to delay things like speedy trials. I have filed a motion to modify and a return of service and I called judged Beckers chambers and a very stern and cold person answered and really didn't want to listen to me as a person and that hurt my feelings. I work a Forty hours a week and it was pretty sad I had to take time off just to file, and when I do nobody feels the need to grant a hearing . Today I had two witnesses heard the clerk for judge Becker say even though I filed correctly and did everything I need to do that they just haven't made a hearing and he said he don't know when they will make a hearing then he said I need to file the same paperwork all over again but someone else said that wouldn't be necessary. So now people have me going back and forth and aren't telling me what I need to Know. I feel as though I'm being attacked by the family Courts the same people who are supposed to protect me. It's been for years since this order was written and my child's dad has claimed him each year this needs to end soon. He should follow the judges orders and allow me to claim our son on alternating years or we can split the taxes he get half and I get the other half. This is appropriate for parents like us who share custody and do ling tern visits to know that he failed to make a good decision shows how immature he is which is why I am asking for a trial and have to go back up to the courts now after being at work all day sweating I can't go home take a shower I have to go to court

Called to get info on a motion and an African American employee answering the phone for the Civil Branch by name Adrienne or so started talking smart like she was in a club and hung up on me. A court employee being rude and hanging up while offering legal services that may be critical. If she is not fired that facility will have serious work issues. As a matter of fact I had been calling due to a motion dropped-off 3 weeks earlier that was still not showing up as filed in the system. The employees are lazy, rude, and irresponsible. Waste of tax payers money. The Clerk of this Court needs to be changed. Recently, the date stamp was no longer working for drop offs and you are expected to file documents with proof. This is more broken than Courts in impoverished countries. Smh

The clerks that work here are very rude and unprofessional and never on time. I have a written notice to be here at 0830am and I arrive on time. I walk to the courtroom and the door is locked I waited until 845 when I noticed the clerk walk back inside. I then approach the door again and its still locked however this time the clerk is sitting in the chair and states she isn't ready. Its not my fault you are late but not only that but unprofessional as well. It was an appointed time for me to be here so therefore someone should be here ready and available. This is what happens when you have black unprofessionals in office and there actions of being tardy are not held accountable

Well this court system is broken you can see when they have a preference. I had a case in which one I was accused of domestic violence against someone when was not, when we present the proof The prosecutor name Tonya, was not accepting my evidences and she was making fun of me when I was asking for a translator she was one of the many in the court system that is corrupted. I had a order of protection for me and my daughter and the person violate this order many times and none of them they want to see the proof that I was presenting the prosecutor Tonya didn’t want to take it so you can see the preference on the favoritism that they have and maybe also he was being paid for...

Please take picture of the stamp court date when dropping legal documents in the drobox at 500 Indianan Ave. NW. If they can't find your documents, make a complaint with the Director's office or the mayor's office. This is the 3rd time I am having problems filing my legal documents at drobox. I STRONGLY FEEL SOME of the clerks and supervisors are intentionally losing documents when you have a large number of documents to submit. Also, I STRONGLY BELIEVE they are doing this so you can be forced to e-file; however, they forget that they have to accommodate the disabled and seniors who cannot use computers.

I have to give DC Superior some love. This is a very busy court, that handles pretty much every kind of case. Many of these cases are challenging, for a variety of reasons. My experiences before the Superior Court judges have largely been positive, and while the judges do not always agree with me, which is a small negative ;-) , the jurists are very high quality. The building is old, and it's almost always a madhouse, but this court does a good job in a high-degree-of-difficulty environment.

The escalators are often broken, forcing a large number of people into the already crammed elevators, which only makes service slower. If you're able-bodied (that includes not having a chronic pain/fatigue disability), please take the stairs. Also, pro-tip: the front door is super crowded with long lines. If you're in a rush, consider going in the back door (you still have to go through security of course, but there's usually a much shorter/nonexistent line).

Western error and toxic justice. They dont deserve and should be replaced by technology to cut costs. The buildings should be rained on with chemicals so its base materials are exposed like their honesty as sand. Then the fake capitol would be out of the picture. And technology with its bias coded that way by the engineers placed into those schools and jobs by a biased society like baseball can all be easily rolled up categorically and discarded

Watch out if you go before Judge Gerald Fisher in probate court, because he does not care. I tried to get a Personal Representative (PR) removed for spending too much time and money. The PR's attorney lied every time so he could keep the estate open and pay himself. It took the attorney 4 years to close an estate that had NO DEBT and charged approximately $100K for his services. Honorable... give me a break.

I'm in New Jersey. I'd rather hear the recorded phone messages then talk to reception. Their tone is as if they have an attitude. ALWAYS! I asked a simple question about my case...the rep says, "Well I'm home your welcome to call tomorrow." Her tone though! I just hang up and hopefully I can talk to someone who isn't ignorant. If you don't like your job quit!!! And let civilized people handle it.

It’s actually shocking how uninformed some of these workers are, especially in the civil division floor. Completely unable to answer basic procedure questions for opening a claim and couldn’t seem to be bothered to try. The information desk women were able to help me 10x more than the designated department.

This place literally wasted my day. I had a case that started at 9:30 am which took away from my current job. The judge didn't need me for the case. I was given $40 for my missing work. Huge disappointment in the DC law and court systems. I will never Police Office again in this city.

I call at 3:00 pm and your phone call center say I'm calling off business hours clearly when business hours close at 5pm 2 hours after this is crazy how the resources are not available you sell to the public to pay …

  • Jessica Wu

In the District of Columbia, citizens and legal permanent residents with white skin color are not receiving assistance from the authorities.
