The food was okay. This isn't about the food, though. The place was empty at the time, so we figured we'd be in and out fairly quickly. The lady was very slow to take our order and seemed a bit "off," with little to no knowledge on the menu. We order our food and sit down. As we wait (a long while), I decided to grab my daughters leotard for gymnastics out of my car to change her in the restroom as we were running short on time. We walk back inside and head to the restroom to get her changed. The chef (I think) watched us walk by and said to me, "you think you're special?" I WAS STUNNED. I said, "I'm sorry?" I was hoping it was his heavy accent and I was mistaken with what I heard. And he said again, "you think you're special?!" I said, "excuse me?" I'm in DISBELIEF. He said a THIRD time, "you think you're special?" Mind you, the tone was extremely rude, too. A lady working there whispered something in his ear and pointed to my table. I imagine she reminded him I was a customer... He apologized very shortly and mentioned people from next door (Crumbl Cookie) often come in and try to use their restrooms. There's a sign on the restaurant door that states "restrooms for customers only." Whether I'm a customer or not, you don't talk to me, a mom, and my 4 year old daughter that way. And how are you not paying attention to the ONLY customers you have in the restaurant? Let me also add that when we received our food, we were missing items. The lady that took our order that I mentioned seemed "off," was very confused, apologetic, and says, "I'm sorry... I'm sick." Blames her being SICK for the reason she forgot some of our order... as she sets down our food. Needless to say, It was hard to enjoy our meal after all of this. I don't recommend it here. We will never go back. I'm 33 years old and this is the only bad review I've written in my life, thus far. Lol, I just had to. It was a very strange experience.

Atmosphere: A delightful little restaurant that brings a taste of the Japanese dining experience to the heart of Texas. A small but welcoming bar with plenty of tables and all the decorations to bring the aesthetics of Japan to Texas. Service: The service was excellent and extremely friendly and if you are ever unsure what to eat all you have to do is ask. on the bar the Cheifs are happy to have small talk while working or answer food questions and the wait staff are quick and responsive. One thing to note non alcoholic drinks are self service via bottled drinks at the front of the bar so grab one before sitting down to enjoy your meal. Food: I was completely take by supprise when I found a delightful seasonal Chirashizushi served full of fresh high grade seafood and arranged beautifuly for my enjoyment. In addition while not on the menu the restaurant does serve sushi in the traditional makizushi and nigirizushi styles all you have to do is ask. Conclusion: Sushiholic is a great way to experience a Japanese sushi bar with a simple menu and great food. The staff were absolutely delightful and had plenty of suggestions on what Sake(Rice wine) to try and how it pairs with the sushi. As well as, being friendly and extremely attentive to the customers through the restaurant creating a great friendly environment. (Family friendly - Yes) (Take out friendly -Yes) (Vegan friendly - not sure but there were a few items just ask) (Don't like seafood - No problem they have a wide selection of non seafood Japanese favorites)

The staff was nice and really welcoming. Staff gets a 4. Food was ok (3). When ordering, you are sat at a table and then you look over the menu. Then you get in line to order. If you just want water it will be in water bottle form. I always venture for a new sushi restaurant and I've reviewed inexpensive to majorly expensive so as this one was near our area I figured we would try it. Whenever I have sushi, I always get a chirashi if it's offered. It's a large bowl of fish and things depending on where you go with rice under it. This one was good. Quick call outs, the fish cuts where all over the place. Some really thin some generous. The cucumbers had an odd color to them but they were pickled and tasted better than they looked. The octopus in the chirashi was underwhelming. It was 2 pieces but one piece was tiny and the other piece was like a sliver. I had to wonder what they were thinking when serving it but I did eat the one tiny piece (You can see the portion on the upper right hand side of the picture in-between the imitation crab and ginger). My husband ordered the soft shell crab for an appetizer and I ordered us some miso soups. My husband didn't care for the crab, I liked it. He thought the soup was not hot, it was warm and I ate mine and the rest of his. His roll, the voodoo roll had a good spice to it. I ordered a side of spicy mayo and it was pretty spicy. Haven't had a spicy mayo in all the sushi places that I have gone to that actually had a kick to it. I liked it.
Lots of flavor, high quality fish. It's not really a womder thay they have 2 News 4 WOAI blue plate awards. The spider roll (far left) was well balanced in both textrue and flavor. The Rainbow Roll (middle) had a vibrant array of fresh flavors. The shrimp tempura roll (far right) was by far my favorite. The eel sauce was a phenomenal addition to the crisp texture and flavor of the shrimp. I think what really sells the sushi here for me is that the base mixture doesn't include cream cheese by default, which at other establishments is often overpowering and detracts from the flavor of the fish. 11/10 on quality, and flavor. The staff was also very friendly and engaging. (Side note) It's a nice and home-ish establishment with a quaint bar and a few tables. I wouldn't call it quite a hole in the wall, but it definitely isn't a ls large as other establishments either. I think this really lends to the atmosphere while eating and conversing with the chef at the bar. Definitely a personable experience.

5 stars all around. This is my favorite place in San Antonio. Chefrey (Jeffrey), holds some of the BEST customer service I have ever ran into. These amazing people have remembered my fiancé and i since we became “sushiholics”.♥️ Small, quaint, and relaxing atmosphere is also the reason i keep coming back. Many choices to choose from as well.

You are better off getting HEB sushi.. They have not opened up completely yet. You can not use the restrooms or sit ot the counter. I guess the Rona will get you at the counter and the restrooms, but not at the table a ft away. The rolls were tiny and I left spending a lot of cash and getting very little for the money.. The people working there were nice, but the quality of the rolls were sub par.. They scimp on the Ginger and the wasabi as well. The whole experience left me wanting so much more. If people think this place is good then they are a amateur sushi connoisseurs.. HEB all the way.. If you want Texas sized rolls and an actual selection go to Sapporo.. You will not be disappointed! We chose to try this place and were very disappointed. We will not be coming back..
Best sushi ever and really great sushi I may be pricey but it is truly worth it and the atmosphere is very clean 10/10 recommend and I will continue going there

The food was great. I am not giving a review about the food. I am giving a review for how my interaction was with the sushi chef. I had to go the bathroom when I entered the restaurant. I noticed the sign on the door which says restaurant is for guest. So of course I was dining in. As i was just about to reach the bathroom and chef looked at me and said "you have aTogo order" I said No he said " Are you placing an order" I said no I am dining in. It was the way he said it to me I did not like. As I am eating my dinner a couple walks in they head straight to the restroom. The chef didnt say anything to them. I felt like the chef was singling me out because I am black. It was how he spoke to me that I did not like.
Great place to have the fresh and delicious sashimi and sushi rolls. The chef is Japanese and good was great. The atmosphere is okay as they been around for awhile. The service was good and fast. The price is little high but the sushi were good quality as expected. Check out any sashimi plate you won't be disappointed. They always people in and order on door dash or Uber eats. Highly recommend for any sushi lovers. ♥️

I've been here twice spread out over a long period. Both times were rather awkward. The AC wasn't on very high so it was stuffy feeling compounded by the fact that it's a very tiny space. When my friend and I paid they saw she had cash and asked for that rather than a card which I feel is unprofessional & weird. The food was all decent but nothing special & the prices average. You must pay for any drink, not even water is free They only have bottled water so at least they're not making you pay for tap water. I decided I won't be going back & I'm not sure where all the rave reviews are coming from.
If Valero sold sushi, this would be what youd expect. Very little raw fish in any of their dishes. Ordered 7 rolls all listed with a fish with it (i.e. salmon, tuna) and the just pack in cooked salmon/tuna along with artificial crab sticks. Spend $100 and only one roll had actual sushi grade fish in it: rainboll roll. All else used a cheap, artificial filler everywhere. Even the seaweed salad is filled with fillers like cucumber salad underneath. Dont bother.. go somewhere else if you want anything similar to sushi.

I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and thought it was okay. My spouse ordered the house roll (pink) and really liked it. The jalapeño wasn't too much. I was really put off by the cashier/cook (he's possibly also the owner) calling female customers "babe" though. Myself included. When another woman asked him a question, he said "I already told you" then answered her question. He seemed nice enough but needs some work on his customer service skills.

This place is ridiculous. After waiting 40 minutes for my sushi and witnessing the workers run outside to find my misplaced sushi roll I was quite annoyed. Then, even after I repeated my order to them I got home to my order incorrect. Frustrated I called the establishment for the lady on the phone to tell me to just push the cucumber out... after driving back to get my replacement sushi the same lady rudely told me I should’ve brought back the sushi they messed up originally. I tried to stay calm about the situation but I’ll for sure stick to Sapporo next time... smh
Food is always fresh, and the owners have always been really nice and welcoming. They recognize me and my boyfriend and even ask us where we’ve been when we haven’t visited in awhile. The dumplings are fried to a golden crisp, and their spider roll is my favorite. Anytime I’ve called our order in ahead and we’ve taken longer than expected to get there, the owner would keep the dumplings hot and fresh for me, knowing they’re my favorite! This place is always my favorite place to eat at for sushi

Really bad customer service! The establishment closes at 9 today. We walked in to place a to-go order at 815. We didn't know what we wanted and took a few minutes to review the menu. They told us to call when we are ready, which is weird. We walked outside to our car, then 3-5 minutes later walked back to the store. The door was locked. I called and they said they were closed and no longer taking orders. What?! After explaining that we were just there 5 minutes ago thier only response was "sorry". How convenient!

Dine in experience was interesting. My gf ordered the Cucumber salad and las vegas roll. Both were delicious. I, myself ordered the bento box special with the Tonkatsu pork cutlet, it was delicious, weird thing was with the addition of cantaloupe chunks as a side dish. My main gripe was hearing a microwave going, which makes me wonder if some of the food wasn't freshly prepared or made to order. Hence the 4 stars only and not five. To the owners, if you do read this. Please don't use a microwave. Especially in a sushi restaurant.
This place was AWFUL. Walked in and not even so much as a hello, and out of the 8 or so tables in there 4 of them were covered in dirty dishes. Gross. They don’t take your order at your table you have to go up to the counter, and they don’t even have glasses of water, they make you buy bottles of water. Thought we’d at least give the food a chance and it was bad, rice was stale. I regret coming here. Can’t believe it has such good reviews.

I have been coming here for sometime and only just realized that I had not reviewed it. Sorry. This is my goto sushi place in San Antonio. Admittedly, I am not a connoisseur of all things sushi, but I've had sushi in places all over the US. The sushi is really good here. Prices are very reasonable, the service is excellent. I usually have a simple lunch with spicy salmon and miso soup (added cost). But I've had several other rolls and they have all been of very high quality.
Food was subpar. Miso soup is miso soup nothing special. I got the Cali roll and sunshine roll. Both were average. Sushi pricing was on the higher end for what it's worth. The Sushi chef and server were super nice and service was great.

The lady and gentlemen who work here are the sweetest people, they gave me really great recommendations, I ended up going with the spider roll. I am definitely coming back for the delicious food and wonderful conversation

The Absolute best Sushi in San Antonio. The staff is always very friendly and fun. They know that my youngest daughter has her favorite roll and miso soup a special way and they make it just how she loves it. Thank you so much Lindsey and the rest of the staff for treating my family as if we were your family. I DO NOT like going anywhere else. The freshness of the food is for better than other places we have been here in San Antonio. Thanks again.

Celebrating the evening with an expensive dinner, a friend and I spent $40 (plus a nice little tip) here to be severely disappointed and left hungry. Some of the sashimi we ordered didn’t even have fish on it, they were just rice. Over all we felt we could have got a better deal from another sushi place down the road. Sadly I can’t recommend because that friend lost a lot of trust in my eating preferences because of this place (lol).
Visited tonight with my husband and it was such an smooth and calm experience, rolls were fresh and the place was clean and comfortable. You can tell that this place takes tradition seriously 3 rolls and 2 soft drinks (they only have whats shown in the photo and alcohol) came out to be $41 Very filling and delicious!

Friendly and patient staff, not very busy, decent number of seats, plenty of parking nearby, prices are ok but a bit higher than I had expected. Flavor and quality of the food was good (we tried the California roll, Philadelphia roll, spicy tuna roll, and the Rainbow roll) but I'd prefer to pay a little more for better quality. I'll likely return again to try some of the sashimi options.
Order as you enter takes away from an eventful evening however, the woman working the register was very polite and the food was outstanding. Prices are average or a little below average. I would recommend it for fast food sushi, its prepared as its ordered and the establishment is clean. If you want an experience for sushi there are other places but you will pay more for that experience.
Decent rolls and the price is fair. You have to order at the counter and we were not aware and the lady kinda shouted if we were ready to order from the back side of restaurant rather than greeting us etc. They only have bottled drinks so no fresh brewed Ice tea and bottled water is the only water option. This place could really use a hostess/waiter to make guests more comfortable.
Avoid this place! The sushi was mediocre, the bento box was alright, and the Sashimi was alright, but they don’t have filtered water, or a soda fountain. So no refills on drinks, and the food was very expensive...$60 for what wouldn’t have reached mid $40s anywhere else... avoid unless you don’t know what sushi is supposed to taste like and have deep pockets.
Love this place! We always look for new small businesses to support, and this is definitely one we will. Wonderful service , great food and friendly staff. Master chef was a joy to watch as well as itamae. I highly recommend going here.

Sub-par, overpriced sushi. Not planning to return. Don't waste your time and money. First time I couldn't finish my sushi, ever. It was so fishy (not fresh tasting) and the seaweed was so tough I couldn't swallow it. To top it off.. slow service, and not very friendly staff.

It is a lovely, quite place to have a good roll of sushi and a cup of green tea. I went in the afternoon, and it was pleasent and peaceful. The tempura roll that I had was fresh and warm. The texture and the temperature were perfect. There are a ton of options, and they are located next to Crumbl, so you don't have to go far if you want dessert.
It was recommended by my son who frequently visits here. I'm very critical when it comes to Japanese cuisine as I am from Japan and authenticity is important to me. I had Chirashi and it was perfectly portioned. Tried their Takoyaki and fried oyster. Loved them both as they cooked them perfectly. Loved their koinobori (flying carp) decorations.
Awesome! I can't believe I've waited so long to visit! I called and they were so helpful with my order. We were able to get a good variety to share. I told them I might hit traffic, they called to check on me- awesome customer service! So friendly and everything was DELICIOUS! I read the reviews and ordered more cucumber salad! YUMMY!
Excellent sushi and very friendly service. Ate here with a large party of 10-12 people and the sushi quality was excellent and the food was served at a good pace. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Highly recommend this restaurant!

The girl tried to ripp us off. The amount was 30 with the three meals combined that we bought. My aunt went to tell her and she didnt even listen to what she had to say she just went "ok" as if she already new she did something wrong so basically she knew she got caught. She didnt even give us are receipt. ""DO NOT GO!!!!!!!!!""
This place is amazing!! Is sad that to see they don’t have way more business I guess that’s what happens when a Panda Express is next door! By far best sushi I’ve had in a really long time!!! Quick service great staff and phenomenal food!! You should definitely stop by and try these guys out you won’t be disappointed!
The Chinese man that owns this place racially profiled me while picking up a DoorDash order he was very rude with an attitude and told me I could not pick the order up because he thought I would “steal it” so if your black or a minority I would not give this sushi place business there’s other great places in the area.
This is a ROCK SOLID establishment! Sushi is good and a fair price. Fresh and enjoyable. This is a MOM & POP spot with a clean and simple restaurant front. I support it because they are here and trying to make it in a world full of corporate franchises. I think you should try it too! BTW the Sake is strong! :)
A lady asked for 1 napkin in a panic from outside. The owner say’s no unless you’re going to buy something. You need to wear a mask inside but they talk over your food when making it. Stingy with there condiments and bathrooms closed. Obviously because they are so afraid of germ’s but will talk over your food.
We were rushed to order not once but twice by the white worker. We were told they close in 40 minutes so if we wanted teriyaki chicken we have to order now. We decided not to eat in. Never again. Other workers were friendly.

Date night for 30 dollars. It was pretty empty when we came in but that means it's quiet, which is nice. Sushi was good, crab was real crab (not imitation, which I hate), and neither of us got sick. Good, clean restaurant, good customer service, and I would go there again with my significant other.
The sushi was good. The bill was not. They also would not give us a reciept. We did the math and we got charged an extra $11. We told them and they were extremely rude. We got really angry, and we did not want to cause a scene so we just told them we will never return. It was a horrible experience.
The sushi was fine... we were here for a little snack at 220pm too early for dinner but we missed lunch. Wouldn't bring us just tap water wanted us to buy bottled water. Gave us dirty looks the whole time we were here. So we left thirsty because I'm not spending $2 a bottle for water x 7 people!
Simple place for sushi and other Japanese food, but the simplicity is not a negative. The food is delicious, tastes fresh, the lady at the register is kind and the sushi chef is a pro. I wish I would see more people here, if you have a hunger for sushi, edamame, or takoyaki, hit this place up!
This place has some of the best sushi for some of the best prices. You buy a drink and order, you sit down, the food will be brought to you, and you enjoy. It's simple, its fast, and the people are super nice here. This is the only place where I go for really good sushi. I love this place!
I got the shrimp tempura roll and San Antonio roll, idk if these are pre-made but it looks and tastes like grocery store sushi. Absolutely nothing special about either of them. Based on the reviews I had high expectations so I was really disappointed. Could have went to H‑E‑B for these.
I'm a huge fan of sushi but this place was disappointing. Cook doesn't wear a mask and the display glass where they have the raw food is completely dirty. The place isn't Japanese and it's noticeable in the taste. Won't come again. If you like real sushi, you'll be disappointed too.
Definitely not the experience we were looking for. The food took a long time for only having 4 other tables in the restaurant. The sushi had a fishy taste which generally suggests it is not fresh. It was compounded by a grey/yellow fish color. Hopefully it was just a bad day for us.
This is a cozy little hole on the wall. The selection of sushi isn't as vast as other placed but each of the 17 rolls are solid. Their dinner for two combo is perfect for date night which is what we had. Again the simple atmosphere and simple well done rolls makes this place shine.
Ordered through DoorDash and my order was all combined and Missing order. Apparently if you order different types of sushi’s you gotta ask for separate container for each or else they put them all together. Also they only sent one set of utensils. Not enough soy sauce.
We ordered the variety plate. The shrimp tampura was favorite! Loved the sesame seeds outside. The eel sauce so yummy. Seaweed salad was crunchy and deliciously sweet and sour. I had the authentic unsweetened Japanese tea. Small and cozy atmosphere. I will go again!
My best friend and I would come here often after work to get sushi, and eventually the chef remembered our orders because of how often we were there. He’s so sweet and the food always tastes great. Can’t wait to eat here again once I move back to the area!!
A quick and affordable sushi joint. Nothing sordid that sets them apart but nothing negative either. Decent prices, expect to pay 15 a person for a meal and drink. They are pretty generous with their Togo portions of Wasabi, ginger, and rice vinegar salad.
So delicious! I feel like this is hidden gem! We really enjoyed our lunch!

Been here several times and the food is good and reasonably priced. But was disappointed tonight when we got there 22 minutes before closing and their doors were locked and they were closed. We could've at least gotten it to go. Bad business practice.
Great place. Chef's are awesome. Rolls are great. Clean ,fresh and always the same. I get exactly what I want every time. Only suggestions I have would be a fresh brewed natural ice tea available and a big screen at the bar. But still a great place.
Server was rude upon approaching us for our order, food was fairly good, atmosphere there leaves a lot to be desired, probably best to seek a better spot, in my opinion.

Friendly staff. Have come here a few times and have not been disappointed. Food is fresh and prices are good. They have happy hour from 3 to 7 for dine in only. Close to work for me so i usually pick up for lunch when i want sushi!
Amazing! The most authentic suchi bar/restaurant I've ever been too. The duo of husband and wife who work there are the sweetest people I've ever encountered. The food was spectacular. I've never had fresher sushi. Made with love!
We went there for lunch was the sushi maker was extremely rude, says what do I want as if I didn't belong there. He charged me extra, didn't ask me if I wanted a drink, and the sushi was low grade. They were empty, now I know why.
Restrooms were closed, prices on menu did not match what we were charged, bar seating was closed and food wasn’t that good at all. Staff was friendly but we were confused as to why this place received such good reviews otherwise.
Great sushi and great price! The dinner for two has more than enough and everything was great! The salad and the temp. Roll were my faves. the staff was very friendly and offered great recommendations. We will be visiting again!
Small, intimate sushi restaurant. I leave happy Everytime. I like to set at the sushi bar and watch the chef make my sushi. There are tables, but I haven't seen anyone wait on the tables, like I said, I like to set at the bar.
This is our go to for Sushi. Found it a couple of years back. The sushi always taste fresh and the lady who takes our orders is pleasant and friendly to talk to. Drink choices are bottled and at the front when you order.

Do not miss Sushiholic! The Sashimi is spectacular, fresh and so good! The atmosphere is so peaceful and the staff welcoming! Chef Alex is a Master at his trade and like all things Japanese, peaceful and delightful!
Best sushi in San Antonio!!! Their friendly and knowledgeable staff makes for such a great experience. I live 35 mins away but it's worth the drive everytime!

Not the best sushi...I was the only one there and had to ask for everything with 3 people in the building. No service. Sushi wasnt the best to say the least. First time there and last. Rather have HEB Sushi.
Absolutely love this place, the staff is amazing! The food delicious! My favorites are the rainbow and the catpilliar rolls. Highly recommend this place!

This place has great reviews!? The rolls we ordered were so small and mainly just rice. The prices were higher than other places with better sushi rolls. Taste was blah. Not going back at all.
Absolutely my favorite rolls...the owner always welcoming and friendly. He always listens to what I like. Fish is always fresh at this restaurant! I highly recommend if you a fan of sushi!
Excellent atmosphere and dining experience. I ordered 2 rolls and got them very quickly. Definitely going back!

I love sushiholic. I've been coming here for a couple years. Never have been disappointed. Everything is always fresh. Great, consistent quality. I love the sunshine and the spider roll.
This place is really great! My wife and I have had nothing but great food and service here. The dinner for 2 special is a great deal with the perfect amount of food. Highly recommend!
Good prices, OK sushi, and skip the miso soup. It came out after the sushi and wasn't even hot. The free cucumber salad was pretty good and made up for the disappointing miso soup.
Unable to have a glass of water, required to buy a drink. Over priced. Las Vegas to was good, not enough food. Chicken Bento box, chicken was a bit dry, miso soup was average.
The dinner for two for $30 was enough for three adults. Everything was very good and the service was great. The dining room atmosphere made for a pleasant dining experience.
I go here at least once a week! Very fresh ingredients and great service always greet you with a smile and are very gracious to have you as a customer. Highly recommend it!!
Great service!!!!!! Small but the food is totally better than any sushi place in SA. I will definitely spread the word this is the place to get great service and food!!! <3
Not many sushi places in San Antonio advertise vegan/vegetarian options. The vegetable roll here is delicious, maybe the best I have had in town. Will definitely be back.
Good sushi. Cheap owners. The portions have become smaller since I started going. Tempura shrimp are good for an appetizer, and the crunch roll/sunshine roll are my fav!
The Asian lady working there was so friendly, and the food was prepared fresh. It may cost a little more, but I’m telling you it’s worth the try. Authentic style food.
10 out of 10 would recommend. Food was great, service was awesome, and the establishment was clean.

The Best Sushi!! Very generous portions of Nigiri. Stopped by after shopping HEB Plus on the Northside, wish it was closer to our home south of SA.
always amazing every time I go. The food is always delicious and the retro tunes always makes it a fun experience. This is the shrimp tempura roll
BEST sushi ever! They literally never disappoint. Everything's delicious from start to finish. High quality food and staff. 10/10 perfection!
