Saturday 10th Sep: Our first entry in to the bar. Spectacular venue and awesome implementation of fun. Turned to my good mate, his view was the same. Loved the retro music, feel and crowd. Bar staff / waitresses... top notch, responsible but also your mate. Limited alco selection, but all you need. Had the crowd going in the back, but I got kicked out by the young bouncer who couldnt articulate any clear breaches ...except that I was intoxicated and it was a "lawful request". So got the crowd going at other venues that night where I apparently wasnt intoxicated at all! (being an experienced drinker and counting my drinks as I was driving!). Fun....is apparently intoxication here - WATCHOUT FOLKS! My mate thought it was racism (Im brown, and those actually unable to stand were allowed to stay). Ruined a potentially great memory. Good staff and reputations are so important in this industry...lets hope this improves
Came here for a quiet drink on a Thursday night after dinner with a friend visiting from interstate. Ordered drinks and got about half way through before a band started inside. We decided to go outside so we could continue chatting. Place was almost empty, about 10 people max. While quietly chatting outside, one of the waiters then came over and started accusing us of somehow sneaking in another way besides the front door. He then asked us to leave because my friend was wearing thongs. I guess he wasn't at the door when we came in and was in trouble with his boss? They already happily took our money at the bar. Unbelievably rude, especially since the place was almost empty and we weren't causing any trouble. Great impression of Brisbane for my friend- definitely won't be back with visitors. What an embarrassment to this city.
We went to The Bowery after a wedding thinking it was the best option following such a lovely event. Three of us were quite merry but the fourth, our Japanese friend, is allergic to alcohol and as usual, hadn't had anything. The moment we got to the door of The Bowery, the bouncer sized our friend up and decided that he'd 'had too much'. We couldn't believe it and explained why he couldn't possibly have 'had too much'. The Bouncer was incredibly arrogant and continued to say that he 'knew he'd had too many'. It was obvious that this bouncer had just decided that he did not like the look of our friend - for what ever reason, racial or not. We were so disappointed as The Bowery had always been a place we'd thought quite highly of. We won't be back after this experience. Very disappointing Bowery :(
The venue has a kind of indie interesting look. The bands were really terrible though. They were playing covers of the sort of music they play on really bad commercial radio. The clientelle was about 30% hipster, 15% really old drunk people being embarrassing but not caring about it, 40% people in taffeta dresses that looked like they'd come from a race course and the remaining 15% just casual drunk folk. Pleasant enough. Every once in a while the bar people grab lamps attached to ropes and rock them. Not sure why, i wished they'd stop. It was annoying and cringey.

Security needs to be held accountable for their actions last night. I was dragged out of this venue aggressively with no force given by myself. I was pinned and beaten into the ground multiple times. My shirt was ripped and I was abused by a security guard for little to no reason. I understand when someone needs to be escorted out of a venue for whatever reason but this security guard took full advantage of their position and abused me in the process. I will be making a statement to police about his actions. Do not recommend this place at all

Security guard with glasses and the one with the beard called me multiple racial slurs last night as I’m indigenous. I’ve been to some pretty bad clubs before but this is by far the worst. If you’re anything other than a white male I would recommend staying away from this club as the security guards will call you multiple slurs all night and will touch you inappropriately. The security guards specified above should really go to therapy, they are quite possibly the most racist people I’ve ever encountered in my life.
"It's Suzie Wong time!!" First thing you'll see as you approach is a gigantic retro Kelvinator style fridge door that acts as the doorway to this epic lil dive bar... walk through it and you'll be transported to the coolest Hawaiian style dive bar complete with bar lamps hung from the ceiling with ship mooring ropes, Hawaiian leis, epic live bands and soloists every day of the week (bar Mon/Tue) and the nicest bar staff in the entire Valley! You won't need or want to go anywhere else! Let's get FIZZY
Was curious to check out Suzie Wong's after the super-fast turnaround from The Bowery, and it really didn't disappoint - great cocktail list, really switched-on staff, and a great crowd. Arrived there just after they opened, had a great chat with the staff as the place filled up, and by the time the band (Vix and the Slick Chix, who were incredible) started, it was a really lively, fun atmosphere. Definitely making it a regular.
Wowee, that cinnamon thang that I jammed in my mouth! Holey moley! Talk about a concoction of delicious flavours! When I first put the flavour of cinnamon in my mouth, I thought "no!"... But then! Them I thought! Wow.... Wow, what a cinnamon delight. What a great bar. What a great business. What a fantastic member of staff who served me my drink at approximately 1:35am on the date at which I post this... Wow...
A rock solid cocktail establishment that was doing it properly way before the wave of hipsters in the last 7 years got Brisbane in to decent cocktails. Though it can get a bit noisy, they will never serve you a bad cocktail, the service has always been great and the music selection has mostly (bar a few occasions) been on point.
Terrible bar staff and management, bar staff pocketing your drink money and not making you drinks while managers saying they are not allowed to review camera footage. Instead they'd rather just kick you out I suppose so they can do it to the next. Not cool

Extremely rude and unprofessional doorman / security. The Bowery attempts to impress as a high-end bar. What a joke! The only thing this place has in common with NY is the rude doorman and his sexual comments to my friends trying to gain entry. Will be contacting management to file a complaint.
Holly the glass collector was really nice to everyone. I quite like this bar but am unsure about their alcohol measures as it is done in a large silver measure rather than a clear 30ml shot thing. Other than that, a pretty good bar with a chill but good vibe for any occasion. 5 stars for holly!
I really don't want to tell people about how great this place is as I want it to stay great! But..... it's awesome, great service, great atmosphere, great choice of bands, just great. The age of the crowd varies but generally slightly older which is good. Very relaxed and fun.
Enjoyed a wonderful night with great music and great drinks. Really enjoy the vibe and the design of the ar! Fantastic experience.

Love this place, chill, not overly complex. Always has wicked bands on wed Thur. Really adds to the atmosphere. Plenty of bar staff, so not fighting for a drink. Good selection of beers and spirits Drinks are a little pricy which sucks. However the music makes up for it.
Good cocktails but incredibly intense security and bar staff. Arrived here sober and attempted to dance only to be told to "calm the f*** down" by staff.I Suggest you sip your cocktail while standing still and expressionless in order to avoid incurring their wrath.
Absolutely fantastic. Three of us went it and it felt like 'that bar around the corner that we always go to'. Great range, knowledgeable staff and atmosphere by the truck load. Do yourself a favour and go. I'll see you there because I will be back again and again.
My favourite cocktail bar in Brisbane. Asahi on Tap, and they make a great Sazerac. Though I personally avoid it after 8pm on a Saturday night as it gets just a bit too crowded for me. Head there on an afternoon or weeknight for some cool Jazz and tasty cocktails.
Step through the refrigerator door and into a grungy bar with neon lights, retro posters and some pretty eclectic decor. The cocktails are pretty good and you can easily keep yourself entertained just from looking around at all the random bits and pieces.
I haven't tried the food yet at Suzie Wong's but I have thoroughly enjoyed the bands they have playing there. It shows me what a vibrant music scene there is in Brisbane. I'm grateful to any venue that caters to live music. I'm especially
Went there last night and won’t be going back. It was absolutely packed which was fine but the horrendous smell of sewage was beyond belief. I have never ever ever smelt anything as bad as that before. New name is now Suzie Pongs
Chels had the best vibe and really made the night in an incredible atmosphere. Had a boogie to some awesome life music (COSMICA) but tbh Chels made the night complete.

Atmosphere is good, if a bit loud. The setup here is fantastic, a great little cocktail bar whipping up some very tasty drinks. The entry is brilliant- I want that door. Price point and flavours on the drinks was great.
Always a go to place if we're in the valley. Always too loud so it's always outside to sit and drink. Always drink cocktails because they're always pretty good. Always regret it because they're always pricey. Always.
My all-time favourite bar. There's a special smell to this place, which also has hundreds of drink options, live music, and lots of comfortable and varied seating options. The staff are also incredibly helpful.
Securities let their friends go in before other regular customers and let everyone else wait which is unfair. They would chat with other girls just to get their numbers and let the queue pile up with people
Now this is where it is at, live jazz and cocktails made to suit. Top notch service with booth seating to chat with friends. Whether it's one drink or a whole night out this place certainly serves.
Great cocktails!!! It used to be The bowery bar. The one with great cocktails. Now they need to improve the barman skills, since The Suzie Wongs bar has 3 or 4 cocktail options only. …
Amazzzzzing! Never disappoints. We applauded everyone that entered and neck minute it was pumping!!! Best cocktails in town, super cool staff. Do not skip this bar if you are in town.
Have not been here since the name change but they hijacked the old business and stole the good will and reviews so I have set mine to 1 start as I have never been here before
Chelsea helped us out so much on cocktail recommendations, super friendly also. Will be back 10/10 service. No joke.

Always a good time at Suzie's! No pun intended. The music is always good, there's always friends to be made, the bar staff are great! Great Place for a great night out!
Great cocktails in a relaxed environment, which is hard to find in the Valley on a Saturday night. Prompt and friendly service. A little pricey compared to other bars.
Some of the best cocktails in Brisbane and a pretty upscale, but unpretentious crowd that you usually find here. Wednesday night jazz here simply cinches it.
We went on a Friday night, great vibes, no queue and some awesome local acts playing

The actual venue smells terribly which is odd but the main thing is the overly aggressive security. Absolute thugs.

Great place. Yum cocktails and the staff are great. Anthony in particular is very attentive and takes orders in advance while he's finishing the previous
Sam was very professional, best security ive seen in all my years. Made my experience worth it. Will come back. was just as good. Thanks have a goodnight
Thursday night is jazz night. Great band and very nice atmosphere. The bar staff are friendly. Well worth a visit to escape the rowdiness of The Valley.
Great Bar with awesome staff, huge array of bevies & some of Brissie & the Goldy's best bands. It can get loud & busy in there, but a great atmosphere.
There's a lot of new cocktail places in Brisbane but the Bowery is still one of my favourites! Consistently great atmosphere, service and cocktails :).
Still the best in Brisbane! The Strong Man cocktail is my long-time favourite, followed closely by the Bowery's Classic Dirty Martini. Exceptional!
Really nice venue with reasonably priced drinks. Can get a bit noisy when there is lots of people. Comedy on a Wednesday night is a real treat!
Didn't eat there but had an awesome night there top service and good entertainment awesome night

Pretty friendly staff. With live music every night. They have a nice selection of cocktails and actually a fair selection of whisky.
Zombies for days and great music whether it's live band night or DJ sets. Great atmosphere and effective prohibition period theme.
Small bar reasonable prices the night I was here they had a cover band on and I could have been at Twin Towns. Was pretty boring.
Good music, live band

Nice looking restaurant / bar / club. Expensive drinks & food. Not much staff. Plenty of seating & live music. Hipster joint
The floor is sticky and the whole place smells like a toilet. Had a pina colada and he put dark rum in it which was hideous.
Best Dive Bar in town! Talented live music and atmosphere. A go to stop on your live music / cool bar hopping journey.
Great atmosphere and the house cocktail Suzie’s Punch was awesome. Very nice hidden getaway in the middle of the Valley.
Excellent cocktails, good for a quiet drink earlier in the night or lots of fun for a late night dance! Great music.
music was fantastic from Eighties To now great night bar staff were great for a Wednesday night I was amazed …
Bloody amazing. The staff the make it worth it. Music is what I grew up with

Ok bar, but not sure what the fuss is about. More like a rough and ready college bar than a classy cocktail place.
Great selection of cocktails and other fancy drinks. Expensive but the showmanship of the bartenders is worth it.
Cassie knew what drink to give me after I described what I wanted. An excellent place for a post-dinner drink.
Excellent atmosphere, great service and amazing drinks range with cool music. A must if you are in the valley
Simply one of the best cocktail bars in Brisbane. Friendly staff and good live music some nights of the week.
Awesome cocktails and great staff. Staff are all over responsible service of alcohol. Makes for a good night!
Huge cocktail menu, nice ambience. A little bit cheaper and I'd be there more often. (Cocktails are all $19.)
Band rocked, it was Rohan from the cardboard cutouts

The Bowery is one of Brisbane's most charming pubs. Quality live music and fantastic selection of liquor.
Aside from the wonderful cocktails I love that they have a jazz band playing on the regular. Truly a gem.
Fantastic momos! I'm Addicted, I come here all the time after work. Open til 12 every day it's fantastic.
Great place to have a chilled out drinks. Live Jazz band last time I went. Cool staff and chilled crowd.

Excellent live band, fabulous atmosphere, quick bar service despite a very busy night
Great bar, small, pumping music, live band, staff friendly. Drinks reasonably priced.
The best cocktail bar in Brisbane. Good music, quality cocktails and friendly staff.
Want to hear some good live music, with a great atmosphere - this place is for you!
The best dive bar in Brisbane hands down, is a must do for anyone looking to party!
Such a great atmosphere. They had a fantastic band playing covers last night too
Toilet smile travelled right through the place. Good venue, and great bat staff.
Great place for a drink. Excellent staff and good atmosphere. Loved it.
Fantastic atmosphere. Great for a night out. Updating. Just as good.
Great live music venue. The whole place is basically a dance floor.
Great joint in Fortitude Valley. Great service and a great vibe.
The live music and staff are amazing. I would highly recommend.
Amazing amazing, drinks list is huge. Music is epic.
