DEFECTIVE ENGINEERED FLOORBOARDS supplied and installed by their "recommended" installer This has been a NIGHTMARE experience dealing with TAITS MITRE10 as their DEFECTIVE ENGINEERED FLOORBOARDS, approx 80sqm of it, that they supplied and had their "recommended" installer install it in our home (approx 80sqm) on 29 Jan 2021. Taits Mite10 have made NO attempt to date - 12 April 2021 to remove it (under the guidance of a structural engineer to avoid any further damage to our home) and replace it with a suitable floorboard product as guided by a structural engineer. Their GM requested from us the name of 3 Independent structural engineers and we provided in total 7 to him 3 weeks ago. But again no action. He still has not nominated a structural engineer. To date every DEADLINE they have set they have NOT met; every DEADLINE we have set including our 'Emails of Demand' to them to rectify their mess - they have ignored. TAITS MITRE10 Management - we are your innocent customers who put our faith into you to supply, install a quality product but instead received nothing but DEFECTIVE ENGINEERED FLOORBOARDS that are now glued to our substrate by yr "recommended" supplier. You left us with an UNBELIEVABLE MESS and you to date have FAILED to rectify. Talk is cheap! We have been patient, polite, myself (yes a woman) was yelled at in our home by being told to remove a review we have posted (about our experience), including continue being told by your management false information - as to date we hv seen NO ACTION AT ALL (12 April 2021). We ask that your CEO please call us immediately as we have sent her at least 2 emails weeks ago requesting her help in this matter. We have avoided media action to date but see no other option for us if your CEO fails to call us immediately. We were inflicted with your defective product and mess from 29 Jan 2021 and today is 12 April 2021 and all we have received is false promises and all talk and absolutely no action. YOU ARE IN BREACH OF AT LEAST 5 AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAWS, we hv given you since the first week of Feb 2021 to rectify YOUR MESS and you have not acted. Pls ask your CEO to call me today - as our last option. We fully understand now why innocent consumers end up with media action. We hope it doesn't end up with this due to your failings to act to get this mess out of our home and rectified under the supervision of a structural engineer. You know who we are. (Important to mention: they did provide us with a report from their independent from a Flooring assoc that states the product is faulty. Taits agreed the product is defective; the product from day one started to ripple and now has completely rippled and lifted and everyone visiting cannot believe how such a company would not act to at least hide the evidence).
Went to the timber yard to have a look at some Baltic Pine floorboards. Walked around looking lost for a while before I eventually found someone to help me. He told me he'd be with me shortly...........I waited another 10mins before I was approached by someone else. I asked for a price and he couldn't help me. Told me I'd have to speak to sales. Fair enough. Approached sales desk. All of them looked like they would rather be at a funeral. Me, 'How much per lineal meter of Baltic Pine'. Him, 'I'll look that up for you'. (I think that's what he said. It was mostly mumbles). Him, '$7.15 per meter'. Me, 'do you price match or can you do better'. Him, 'I'll have a look at the trade price..........Nah, that's the best we can do and you won't find it cheaper anywhere'. Me, 'No worries'. I then walked out and went to Tile Importer and purchased the same grade Baltic Pine timber floors for $4.80 per meter. Thanks Tait. I now know where not to go. Also, Bunnings may not have as much range in timber, but at least they look happy, are welcoming, and are more than happy to help.
I feel this is a timber yard with a hardware store tacked onto it. The building itself is wonderful using wood to create an amazing structure illustrating the potential of this renewable resource when used by skilled tradespeople. Given the capacity of the competition to know exactly where anything is there store I've a suspicion Taits puts less resources into staff training, customer experience journeys and employee grooming however this dose give the place a genuine character and in the event people connect with you they do so from a more authentic place. Overall I find Taits lumber stock to be in better order and of a higher quality than elsewhere. There timely ability for specific special orders to be filled is impressive. A commercial or trade card could help get transactions happening a little faster.
I’ve been a faithful Bunnings customer since the early 1990s in Perth when it was just a small group of Bunnings-family owned stores and before it was owned by Wesfarmers. However, their service levels have gone downhill and most upsetting is the fact that on almost a daily basis (yep, I’m in their every day for material for my customers) and there is always something out of stock, often for more than a week at a time. I’ve noticed gaps on shelves now where they don’t restock items. TODAY, though, I went to Tait Timber in Glen Iris and not only did they have all the items that Bunnings no longer carry but their shelves look full. Equally important is that the six or so staff members I met, all were superb. Of particular note are Aiden, Fiona and Geoff. Thank you, I’m a convert to Tait/Home Hardware/Mitre10.
The difference between a good business and a great business is customer service. On 28th October I had the good fortune of meeting "Ray", where he assisted me for a new padlock and another item. Ray was so friendly and helpful that we ended up chatting for several minutes about other things. Ray is an absolute credit to this business and so helpful to customers to the point that I will be a repeat customer because of his personable and helpful approach. Thanks Ray, I look forward to seeking your assistance again on my next visit.
Really poor experience with these guys, I spent $350 on timber for decking. Within a week the wood had inexplicably turned black. I called them to be told someone would call me back. No response. I emailed through their website. No response. I phoned again to be told "someone would call me back", at which point I told them I was getting a bit tired of being fobbed off. "No, no, someone will call". Weeks later still no call. Sorry guys, but in my book, that's called appalling customer service.
Tried looking for few products in "search our range" on the Tait website but only got reams of products vaguely similar and not even the original item requested! Aired my concerns via "contact us" but got no reply. Never had problems with Bunnings, Chemist Warehouse, JB HiFi, etc etc so don't think it's me! Not making the effort going to Tait outlet if I'm not sure they hsve what I'm after. No wonder Bunnings is doing so well if if this is the quality of the opposition!
Just installed a Principal Kitchen & Laundry with Hamptons Doors to replace old 1950's cabintery, the quality of door finish, fittings and cabinetry was first class, cost was about 50% of what we were quoted from a cabinet maker, and we had no missing parts! John at Taits did a superb job completing design for us and following up with any questions we had during install. If you are a home handyman, you should be able to save about 50% on a bespoke kitchen cost.
Best timber yard in town with competitive pricing and a large selection. The hardware section inside is a bit disappointing, there is a very very limited selection for the size of the store. The lightning in the space is terrible, so maybe bring a flashlight along if you plan on looking around. Verdict Timber yard 5/5 Hardware 2/5
My experience was wonderful I am a tradesman myself and it's great to find old fashioned service when I asked a staff member they show me where the item was and stood with me to help me outside in the actual timber yard again excellent service I couldn't do enough for you well done Tait Mitre 10 regards Mark Wilden
The staff of Tait Mitre 10 Glen Iris deserve more than 5 stars for Customer Service!! I arrived from Sydney today with my Dad and the service they provided us was above and beyond and with a smile. Thank you so much to service and support you gave us with our predicament with our bag this morning. THANK YOU!!!!
The flooring team at Tait's is the best there is! Stacy, Catherine & the team are leaders in the market for there expertise on engineered flooring. There showroom is far superior to anything you will see in Melbourne & only supply the finest products on the market. Great friendly people cant recommend enough !
Great range of hardware, timber, garden supplies. But you need to fix your POS system at Tooronga store. Last Thu it took about 3 minutes to scan my goods. Back here today, it took over 10 minutes and two attempts. Not good enough service. I'm trying to support you rather than the big B. chain!
Just picked up my new hedge trimmer... HSA45 STIHL .. Lucky to be greeted by the kindest loveliest lady Fiona, she is so pleasant and helpful... I will continue to drive past other hardware store to come here for the excellent customer service and smiling faces... Thank you.
Really responsive service from Mitre 10 in Glen Iris. Bought several Dulux paints for some lockdown renovations. Staff were helpful on the phone when I was confirming availability and the click and collect process was really simple with highly courteous staff. Many thanks.
I visited Mitre 10 Glen Ires to find the floor timber which was old style and difficult to find in other stores. Amelia in the timber sector was so helpful and perfect for the customer. I was fully satisfied with her service. Thank you Amelia and all staffs.
Great service. Had no issues and staff are super friendly and know what they’re talking about! Emmellie who served me at the retail side check out was just a delight. Good work guys. Will be back when I need more supplies. Regards, Adam J.
I ordered timber over the phone and picked up today but it would not fit into mr car. Taits offered to deliver free straight away. Excellent service and no more bunnings for me. Thank you and congratulations to all your staff on service.
Alastair Carr in the Flooring & Architectural Timber Sales department went above and beyond to help me source the correct floor boards, mitre 10 are lucky to have a quality staff member like him. Glenn.
They have good steel H posts and C ends, 1.5m I was after, hard to find in inner city!! Seems like they have alot of wood arriving!!! Great hardware store without the chaos of busy Bunnings …
Whole shop has been re organised and as always is very professional. I only get there a couple of times a year from Sydney but very impressed. No wonder the tradies love it!
During the six times look-down, I need something urgently, Sanj in the hardwear sector was so helpful and perfect for the customer. I was fully satisfied with her service.
Very good selection of wood at good prices. The range was really impressive and I highly recommend- this isn't the same stuff you see at mitre10 or bunnings.
The staff at Mitre 10 in Glen Iris were so helpful tracking down an item and delivering It to my house. Great service!! I’ll definitely be going back there.
The arrogance and attitude of sone of the staff here is just baffling.... Timber range is good, so there's our positive!
Large hardware store with good selection of goods, including tools, ladders, paint. Trade section. Good service.
The guys and girls in the timber yard were fantastic help . Plenty of parking and enough staff . Great service
Super helpful service! Good range. Easy to find a staff member to help unlike Bunnings. Pleasantly surprised.
Good service and plenty of help in the timberyard. Good selection of timber, no charge to cut to length.
