"Despite the luxurious appearance, the service is far from the visuals of the restaurant"
I was so looking forward to high tea however left disappointed for the price point and location. Food was great, something different however that's as far as the positives went. 1. We booked the terrace however at that time of day the sun is shining direct in your eyes and I spent the whole time with my back to the view to avoid being blinded by the sun even with sunnies on! There was also wind and there is no protection.. they have blankets out for people. One lady having tea in a shaded area even had to turn around and faced the window .. how ridiculous to have to do that when part of the experience should be the view. 2. I ordered the hightea with vintage veuve - it was obvious the bottle had been open a while. If you are going to charge $38 per glass on your drinks menu make sure you serve a fresh glass. I sent this back for replacement and had to follow up with the waitress to have the glass served again 10 minutes later. I'm quite sure it had just sat on the bar the whole time. 3. Ordered english breakfast tea to finish.. a teabag in a 2-3 cup pot! was served weak and even after waiting 5 minutes to steep was just as weak. You are called the teahouse , you should know how to serve tea. The one positive is my friend had coffee and enjoyed that. 4. The chair height is a lot higher than the coffee tables and so you are bending over to access your high tea/drinks, making a very uncomfortable dining experience. If you go to try the tea , don't book the terrace . I really wanted to enjoy my high tea and it's sitting at a premium price point but I won't be returning.
In terms of value for money, this place is a rip off. I don’t mind paying for good food and service, sadly the tea house failed on both fronts. The food was just “okay” not worth the $659 bill for my family of 2 adults 2 kids. The service was bad. We ordered the $118 high tea and wanted mocktails, the lady advised we should get the cocktail menu for 128 as it includes mocktails, I specifically asked “does it still include the tea and coffee” I was told yes. We waited one hour for our food, the waitress apologised saying the kitchen was busy (it was not busy in the restaurant at all) We wanted to order coffee but couldn’t find a staff member so I went to the front counter, I was told we would have to pay extra for coffee. I explained the waitress assured us it was included in our package and was told “ she must have made a mistake” mistakes happen but I wouldn’t have ordered that way had I have known, it’s a high tea and I really wanted the tea. any good restaurant would make good on their word, it’s only two coffees, it’s the restaurants mistake they should honour what they said. So we paid the extra for the coffee. finally, we paid the bill and got slogged an additional $60 Sunday charge. This wasn’t made clear to us when we booked and honestly I resent paying an additional $60 for awful service . Don’t waste your money going here, spent the money on NOBU or one of the other restaurants in crown or around the area.

Great decor and I’m sure good cocktails (hence the 3 stars). Staff were rude when we arrived. I’ve worked in customer service for a very long time and simply saying “we’re full” (and literally nothing else), rather than “sorry guys, booked at the moment, but feel free to pop your name down and let you know when space frees up” is a massive disappointment. I understand when somewhere is full, but the delivery both times made us feel very unwanted, like wanting to grab a drink was a burden. We were dressed nice (suit and dress) and were very polite and friendly. Not a good look when we were more welcoming than the staff. This happened twice: once when we first got to the property, and then again after we had just spent over $1,000 on dinner upstairs. (I’ve given Yoshii Omakase and Woodcut 5 stars on separate reviews).
Despite the luxurious appearance, the service is far from the visuals of the restaurant. The servers seated us and we were left forgotten for an hour, leaving nearly a total of two hours wait before we began eating. The reception was stoic and unfriendly, as though they couldn't wait for us to leave. The food was placed beautifully with colourful accents, but it was overpriced, mediocre and the taste did not match appearances. You really need to book prior to coming in order to secure indoor seating versus sitting outside. This is an uncomfortable experience on cold and windy days due to the location of Crown Sydney. It's worth going once for the picturesque and unique seating arrangement of bird-cage esque booths, but I would not visit again due to my unpleasant experience. Instagram: @sydneyfoodreviewer
Services are good but their communication weren't great. The restaurant said they do walk ins only when we tried to book it over the phone, but when we got there, we were told that without booking, we might have to wait a long time "depending on when people leave". There's also only a limited selections of food. For four people, you won't even be full after ordering everything from the food menu as the portion sizes are actually quite small. Interesting menu filled with fusion food and drinks, but my recommendation is to stay away from the sea urchin eggs and the desserts. Dumplings are also not that remarkable. Regardless, it's still a great place to sit and chat over cocktails and light meals as they have comfortable seatings, nice view and you can sit there for a long time.
We actually came across the Teahouse by accident having a look around the recently opened Casino. The teahouse is in the third floor yo the elevators of stairs, we decided to stop for a tea and then a few cocktails :) The service was so friendly and helpful, nothing at all was too much trouble. We decided to sit outside and the view from the sheltered balcony was stunning. It was a little noisy as the crowds picked up with people enjoying themselves on a Friday afternoon. Indoors the decor is stunning and the booths are super cool! There is an moderate cocktail, spirits and beer list with a selection of teas and coffees. We would love to come back for the high tea on a weekend!
The décor is strikingly beautiful and the staff today doted on us because we were only 2 of 4 customers. Very quiet. The food was gorgeous albeit incredibly expensive but I guess you don’t dine at Crown if you’re hunting cheap eats. $65 for the tuna (delish!), two pots of tea and a 500ml bottle of mineral water. No booze. But the service was exemplary (as you’d expect from an empty restaurant at Midday Sunday; the crowds nowhere to be seen - thanks, Covid). Overall our experience was great. Yes it’s extremely expensive but as I said, it’s an experience; it was fun. Staff were wonderful (thanks for the umbrella, folks, my belief in Humanity restored).
Not recommended at all. In case you have too much money to burn, there are many other places far better to spend with. Such low standard offered inside Crown Tower is absolutely disgraceful that Teahouse pretends to be high class but nothing is up to standard. Interior pretends to be majestic but decoration is not and furniture are old and dirty. Staffs are friendly but not trained. Food and drinks are not bad but far too pricey for the quality. Overall it's a place pretends to be classy but doesn't pay any effort to catch up the standard at all. I also can't believe Crown Tower offered such low standard compare to Crown Melbourne.
Very upset with ‘the tea room’. I went there for a pot of flower tea with my dad and some fruit and was assured by the staff that they checked with the chef that is was celiac safe so that I could eat it. I saw the allergen warning and asked about it and they told me not to worry and that they double checked. Turns out one of them indeed had a lot of gluten in it and I spent my night in agony with a borderline hospital visit. So my stay wasn’t comfortable or enjoyable in the end. I flew to Sydney from Melbourne for a medical scan as well so that experience will be painful now too. Ruined our whole trip due to dishonesty.
Be aware we made a booking 20hrs before our actual booking . when we rang to change the booking to a little later ,they told us that we would have to pay $100 per person if you dont give 24 hrs notice . when explained that we only made the booking a few hours ago they said they dont care (this is on a monday night as well ) .absolute rubbish so we came early to avoid being charged . the staff there are nice but everthing else was very ordinary and we will never come back . not sure if they understand customer service on the management side. Not recommended at all. oh The tea is nothing special just regular tea.
I reserved a table with a comment of ‘window seat please if possible thank you’. But turns out it’s a outdoor seat with no notice. Even we have asked if we can move inside due to the windy weather. And we see there were many table available indoor and was still told all fully booked and couldn’t change for us. We thought that might be due to the number of people, but we found that many table were seating with only two people. If you would like to have an indoor seat, I would strongly suggest you to comment indoor seat otherwise you may get a outdoor seat in a windy day without any notice in advance.
The service here is very very good. Our waitress basically stay with us and offered us suggestions of the menu while we decide. Throughout the night we were well looked after. The bird cage is a must when you book even though there is a minimum spend, it is worth it. The food here is very delicious as well. It might be at the price point for everyone. Food decor is top notch, looks amazing and thoughtfully designed. Ingredients seems fresh. We ordered everything in the menu and enjoyed all of the dishes. The Bird Cage is cosy and comfort. Everything is very nice and it’s highly recommended.
Pretty cool place to chill and have some dim sim and Hainan chicken bites, well presented tasting dessert and flower tea. They have set dinner menu and dessert set menus too but you need to pick the same set menu for the table so I went with à la carte. We didn’t book but were happy to sit inside closest to the window and it wasn’t loud so we could chat until closing time. Great service too. Thanks.

On their website they said no reservation, but when we arrived at 6pm last Saturday, the waiter said all the tables were full. Our party of 5 left for another restaurant but I went around n saw there were 3 tables left. After our dinner we want to have a drink there the same waiter refused to give us a seat. When I why he didn’t give us the still empty tables, he only told us we had to pay $1,000 for each table in a condescending way! This is supposedly a 6-star venue, with 2-star service. Atrocious training on how to treat prospective customers.
Given its location, have to admit I went to this place expecting all style and little substance. Can't say I was far off. 24 dollars for 3 average but beautifully presented dumplings. Drinks list was nothing to write home about. Service was also just passable. Biggest positive was the beautiful decor, although I have to say seats weren't all that comfortable and the oddly shaped table didn't help. Definitely a venue that attracts a certain kind of clientele and that in itself isn't a bad thing, but I know I will not be back in a hurry.
Would recommend booking the bird cage booth in advance which allows you to have your private dining area with friends at no extra cost. Alternatively, the dining area on the balcony seemed to have a nice view of Barangaroo. It was a fun experience and I enjoyed the cocktails. We got the seared yellowfin tuna, dimsum in 3, xialongbao and pudding for dessert. All the dishes were good but overpriced for what they are (3 xialongbao dumplings for $18) but i guess you’re paying for the experience
The horrible service here isn't because they new, it is because literally nobody in the staff cares. Food looked nice (we ordered a variety of dumplings, wagyu beef, etc) but is quite average and overpriced for what you get. You are better offer eating better, delicious food in less pretentious restaurants around Sydney. Seem this place only cares about how the space looks so they can be shared on Instagram and Tik Tok by vapid wannabe social media influencers. Highly not recommended
The one front of house staff on the Sunday 7th Feb is absolutely atrocious and rude. It’s clearly advertised as walk-in only, and when we arrived, we were spoken to in the same manner as how a child would shrug their shoulder and go “I don’t know”. You were full, and the front of house staff member assigned to this clearly didn’t spare a moment to inform us of how we can secure a spot. I hope to try again on a future visit and hope that the experience won’t be the same.
Whilst looking for a place to get a cocktail we were directed here by the staff at the lobby of the Crown. Located on the 3rd floor it’s a bar with indoor and outdoor seating. The cocktail was ok and the service was good. The ambience was so so and the verandah had nice views. Not a bad place for a drink. Didn’t eat here so cannot comment on the food.

Asian fine dining !! Absolutely love everything, food, service, view, atmosphere. It’s nice to see Asian food moving up to the next level. Hopefully there will be more variety of fine champagne on the menu. Hainan chicken needs a little improvement on the taste but overall is perfect. Wagyu beef was the best. Thanks for all staffs who took care of us in the evening of Easter Monday. We are looking forward to going back there again!
Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with tasty cocktails, nice Chinese flavours and great ambience. However nothing really stood out from the menu, it looked pretty but all tasted quite basic. The menu sounds really amazing and upscale but you don’t taste the flavours in the food. The sweet options were slightly better than the savoury! Overall, it was a lovely afternoon overlooking the waters and the staff were very attentive!
A truly unique experience. The aesthetics of the place alone is worth the visit but the drinks here are delectable. To top it off, the staff were incredibly lovely and professional. We were served by a really charming bartender named Dylan, who kindly recommended these drinks. Both he and the manager made us feel welcomed and added to our experience. If you have the chance to go to the Crown, definitely visit The Teahouse!
Beautiful bar with stunning furnishings, the bird cages are perfect for groups!! Amazing balcony overlooking the harbour, could sit out there for hours drinking cocktails! They had a great selection of house cocktails and were very happy to accommodate bespoke creations. Our biggest quarm was a very inconsistent level of service, when paying $24 for a cocktail we would expect better! Otherwise a very pleasant experience!
This place is so well designed and beautiful and the whole idea is great. It's located in a hot spot too. The staff is so helpful and kind. The only feedback from my side, I would expect more taste in those amazing cocktails. The taste needs to be stronger. For instance, I tried the cocktail with lapsang souchong and whiskey, and it felt a bit bland. Was expecting a smoky flavour. But all in all, a great place
Disappointing experience last night. Service was non existent, server recommended dessert that she stated was not available, had to check if they could make coffee or if the kitchen was closed for the night? Made to feel like we were an inconvenience to their empty bar that was no where near closing time. Maybe if the staff were more friendly and welcoming people would be interested to stay.
Unfortunately when we came, it was Jimmy’s last Saturday night at the Tea room. Jimmy is a legend of a man and a great host! It was so much fun having him serve us! He definitely served All the best with your future endeavours Jimmy!! You’re a real G… wait J!! Ps. The watermelon shots are top notch!!

Ordered the diamond tea menu for 3 on Mother’s Day. It was a mediocre experience - waitress didn’t set the table, had to ask for our plates, misled us by saying cocktails and tea was included, ordered tea then it was $45 extra, tables inside are really low so the vibe felt like you are waiting in a hotel lobby. Overall not worth $290 for three people when the serving size was very small.
Came here spontaneously on a girls night out and we weren't disappointed! Had a lovely man from Crown reception give us a tour of the different bars and we fell in love with the Tea House. Beautiful interiors and overall atmosphere. The cocktails were so smooth and aromatic and the desserts were fun to try, very different. Service was fantastic, highly recommend.
I can’t say for others but my experience was great. We were welcomed and promptly seated. The service was smiley throughout our stay. We went in a part of four, each ordered different variety of tea. The dessert was well presented and tasted great. We paid a little extra to be seated in one of the booths. The decor was adorned beautifully in Chinese paintings.
The Teahouse is a work in progress. A beautiful decor, and view over to Balmain and the mountains. Out of the 4 cocktails we ordered two were unable to be made because they didn't have the ingredients, even though the cocktails were on the menu. Service was very good, but we did go on a Monday at 10pm so there was only a small number of people.
The selections of tea were subpar. More a bar than a Teahouse... cocktails were ok but nothing special. We tried EVERYTHING on the menu and nothing was amazing. The best was probably the mini hainanese chicken roulade ... Very overpriced for the quality of food. Will not be back. Was told the bird cages have a minimum spend of $1000 ?!!!!
Too pricely for sweets that were few days old, the very facy named jasmine tea and the flower bloom tea tastes nothing like what you try at other tea shops, they smelled like seaweed, could be because the cups were not washed properly. You don't get to enjoy the views at night specially with the dirty windows. Would not go again thanks.
Teahouse Barangaroo. $88 per person for the diamond tasting set menu. $26 per cocktail. The venue is beautiful. The service flawless. The food portions are canapés servings. We’re not big eaters and walked out feeling very hungry. There are much better venues and value for money eateries to dine at in Barangaroo.
Wow, wow, wow! The staff at Tea Bar were amazing and the view was perfect. The staff couldn’t be more helpful or welcoming, we were greeted by Kanako. She made everything easy especially with such a big family. Definitely worth the visit! 10/10

Lovely experience, helpful and attentive staff (a big shout out to Dylan who gave us some excellent tea recommendations and a great service), stunning decor and spectacular views! The teas we tried were absolutely delightful and very reasonably priced. Definitely one to return to!
What a great, colourful setting for an afternoon mocktail and a quick bite to eat. Unlike many places who pour juice in a cup and call it a mocktail, this bar tender took care and skill and produced exceptional drinks!!

Great, intimate, and relaxing place to sit and catch up with friends over some tea. The tea selection is great and would highly recommend the Heart in Heart. The desserts are yummy and novel. The chrysanthemum jelly is tasty. The staff is also very friendly and attentive.
Love the desserts and drinks here! Teahouse really prides themselves on their presentation which you can clearly see in the photos. The taste is also amazing, albeit being on the pricey side. For a more in depth review with pricing, check out my instagram @asydneysider .
Good cocktails but the food is underwhelming if not disappointing. The menu describes a Pork Floss Coated Baked “ Kopi Cha” Custard Lava Bun, but what we were given was a dry scone with a tea-flavoured paste with a teeny sprinkle of pork floss. Honestly wdf. XLB is ok.
We thoroughly enjoyed the festive high tea at the Teahouse, with the stunning view. Amazing way to spend a glorious sydney afternoon. Our favourite items on the menu: lobster dumpling and the angel swan (pastry was delicious!). Service was attentive. Highly recommend
Will never go here again. Spent $118 to come home with food poisoning and vomited everything up. Never been so disappointed in my life to get food poisoning from somewhere that’s meant to be so classy and fancy. Do not recommend! Unfortunately not even worth 1 star
It's worth the prices just for the views. I had a White Rabbit White Chocolate dessert and an Apple by my Tea cocktail. They did ask me if I wanted anything else when I ordered a cafe latte at the end, twice, and I wondered if the staff talk to each other.
Cocktails were nice, great views. Overpriced but tasteful desserts (portions are way too small as well). Service was mediocre not outstanding. Service was not as bad as some of the listed reviews. However an air of condescension was definitely present.

Over priced food with underwhelming taste. However cocktails and food presentation were excellent. The view of the harbour and bird cage setting was also very nice. Good to try but won’t be back in a rush for the food.
Amazing food and fantastic cocktails, Great calm atmosphere, perfect for a sunset on the outside bit and dinner in the cosy inside. Most friendly staff. I can only recommend this place. Also great vegan options.
Service was pretty bad. We went with friends and waiter told us not to sit in that particular area as minimum spending for that area is 100 per person. We just entered how do we know how much we gona spend ?
The food is very average but the atmosphere is quite stunning. The furniture and the menus were a bit trashed considering the fact it just opened. Overall it’s a decent place for an afternoon drink or tea.
5 stars for service Nice place to go after dinner for some drinks at the crowne. The jade dessert was very disappointing and small for the price. It was very stiff mousse a d didn't taste like anything.
The interior of this space is very cool, and the food is photogenic. However, the flavors were not enjoyable and I would not return. I do recommend many of the other dining options at the Crown.
Quite extravagant at around $20 a plate for 3 small pieces of whatever dumpling/hargow which tastes unique but average. You definitely are paying for the amazing decor, views and service.
Great atmosphere, decor and attentive service. Love the vibe and a great spot to enjoy the sunset whether you're inside or outside on the terrace. Great cocktail bar with bites to match.
The Szechuan beef was tender and juicy, with a decent amount of heat. I also had the Dragon Fire cocktail, which was nice, but the spice overpowered some of the more subtle flavours.
Professional service from the team throughout the whole day that went above and beyond to cater to all our needs in the birdcage. Alvin was terrific in helping us with our booking.
What a great place to relax and enjoy the views. Excellent food and drinks, I do love the crispy dumplings. Staffs are super helpful and we will definitely return more often.

Dumplings were too expensive for the quality and quantity served and were lacking flavour. But the garnishing was amazing and the ambience in the restaurant was great.
Nice environment... good to show off to visitors and admire some good design but if luxury is not your thing, you may not appreciate it. Gotta see it to decide though!
Great place for a nice cocktail and experience. Service was great by all the staff and the decor was perfect for the setting. The food options looked great as well.

Great cocktails and lovely atmosphere. Service is hit and miss but good overall. Nice view from the terrace but can be very hot on a sunny day

Excellent food but pricey. Good service and nice for a large family in the bird cage with privacy and space with a private lounge.
Stopped in for a couple of cocktails and wasn’t disappointed, no booking and they sat us quickly and drinks came straight away.
The food is very average but the atmosphere is quite stunning. Overall it’s a decent place for an afternoon drink or tea.
Absolutely horrific. Bland food, warm oysters and uppity staff. Don’t waste your money here it’s absolute rubbish.
Beautiful place to visit after having dinner at Barangaroo or the casino. Lovely ambiance and excellent service.
Yesterday was a wonderful night and we like the atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and passionate
The wonderful staff made our visit feel very special. We had a lovely time in this beautiful venue.
The Teahouse Nothing special Dumplings were not nice At least I can say we have been never again
Absolutely stunning place to have a coffee or drinks! Wonderful service and fantastic ambiance.
Great venue, terrific service but the food was very ordinary. Certainly wouldn’t go back.
Beautiful restaurant. Fantastic ambiance and amazing staff. I would highly recommend it.
Tiny and delicious food, good for a relax time with close friend , wonderful sunset view
Beautiful place but unfortunately the high tea was very average for the price tag.
Super friendly staff, wonderful cocktails.. all in an awesome atmosphere..
Great place to spend time with friends in a luxury environment.
Good cocktails, beautiful decor, slow and inattentive service.
Best high tea ever! Loved it, will back for sure …
I like a Birdcage. It is more privacy and vintage place.
Amazing atmosphere and service. Cocktail menu was great
Beautiful decor, very nice mocktails & good service.
Delicious but overpriced. The lobster har gao …
