"Had my worst experience never again, this place is awful especially the security which is a rasict person, i'm a white guy that goes to tesco to buy groceries and snacks however the security follows me around and shows dirty faces and he looks like a unskilled staff that has no skills or experience, i went to this tesco 3 times and was the worst tesco i ever been to, the security also talked behind my back and calling me a "white pig" then i asked him "sorry could you repeat that again" he walks away and i had to leave as i was getting a call from my office"
Given it’s relatively large size for a Tesco express, this is the worst stocked Tesco have ever been to. Tesco usually sets the bar high for the variety of options. This one fails on all counts. Regular visitor to this store for the last 2 years. In that time, consistency and availability of stock has been terrible. Most visits here result in disappointment with at least one common item on the list being unavailable. Deception tactics used by filling shelves with backup stock for other items, so it looks well stocked. For example, for the past week or 2, there has been no lamb available upon every visit to the store (of any type… large cuts, smaller cuts, mince, etc). Today, I asked about burger patties. None in stock (of any type or brand). Wine selection is terrible. Basic branded items items like basic milk and yogurt options are often out of stock. In season veg often missing. The emotion on leaving this store is one of disappointment, 90% of the time. Not sure if this store is specifically targeted by Tesco as the runt of the litter, and so gets the leftovers from deliveries, or it’s just completely mismanaged by management. Doesn’t seem to be a general or national issue, as the comparatively sized Tesco on Dean street has consistent stock and a variety of it - hopefully the rumours of it closing are untrue.
Just had the worst experience ever in this store. I, a 25 year old woman, went grocery shopping there. Among my groceries I added some prosecco and beer. I was accompanied by my 23 year old boyfriend. I had my ID, he didn’t (don’t know why he should’ve, I was the one shopping not him). The cashier refused to sell me those beers (beers that I could legally consume in that country for 7 years). Apparently, my boyfriend whom I repeat was not the one grocery shopping and paying, didn’t have an ID, therefore I was to be penalized for it. I then asked what happens when a parent accompanied by a child wants to buy alcohol, the manager said that it was “different”. So according to Tescos rule and the manager: an adult drinking with a kid is fine. God forbid though, a 25 year old student drinks a freaking beer with her 23 year old boyfriend. Even after my boyfriend LEFT THE BUILDING, I was denied to buy those alcoholic beverages. I’m from Switzerland where laws are 10x stricter than the UK, this is by far the most retarded law I have ever encountered. Tesco: what are you doing. I demand a reasonable answer. Also, your manager is rude, and demeaning and was out to embarrass me in front of everybody making me sound like a low class junky.
A good little find for getting everything for your lunch with out paying through the nose. The shop is a large Metro shop but i think it is the busiest shop i have ever seen. It offers all that a normal Metro would with a large salad counter which is good to get something healthy. Even though the shop looks like somewhere that is in the process of being looted, the staff have it under control. The shop has far more tills than is usual, which helps the very long queues move at a very good rate. The most amout of time I have spent in the queue is about 3 minutes. Which i think is better then most other shops. It is also good for getting all those essentials you need with the Tesco guarantee to keep prices low. Very good for the hart of London. I would recommend that you get there early as the salad counter dose sometimes get low at peak times. but this is the only problem with the shop. all in all very good.
Very bad service From Tesco Staff especially Mr Mustak.. i dont know he is only staff or act like spv or act like store manager.. I am as the tour guide promote UK Brand product such as Terrys chocolate orange.. and when i bring half of my group ( 8 persons instead of 20 persons) to buy that chocolate, the staff not allowing us to buy it.. they allow us only 4 pcs each person, while after i ask my other group member who want to buy it, the Tesco staff hide that Terrys Chocolate orange.. While in other Tesco / tesco express or sainsburry... when i ask the staff if there are more Terrys chocolate in their storage room.. they allow us to buy as much as we want.. First time experiencing this kind of hospitality from Mr Mustak and friends since i've been to UK many many times..
Had my worst experience never again, this place is awful especially the security which is a rasict person, i'm a white guy that goes to tesco to buy groceries and snacks however the security follows me around and shows dirty faces and he looks like a unskilled staff that has no skills or experience, i went to this tesco 3 times and was the worst tesco i ever been to, the security also talked behind my back and calling me a "white pig" then i asked him "sorry could you repeat that again" he walks away and i had to leave as i was getting a call from my office. The security last time accused a women of stealing but then he realised that he was wrong and he still didn't apologise. The worst Tesco experience ever, no customer wants to be treated this horrible .
I am a local resident and this is my local tesco, I come here everyday and previously the tall guy at the tills was amazing. However, just 5 mins ago I was in tesco and I had to pay for my usual groceries. I accidentally put bananas in the pay area and asked the till guy to void it so I can scan again. This guy which I saw for first time, laughed at me and told me why did I put 1 banana instead of 7. I asked him that it was an accident and he started to argue with me that I was trying to get away with it? I pay for 20 bucks for my order and I want to steal 50p of bananas is that what he meant? Absolutely 0 in customer service! Not coming back here. Is this the standards of mayfair tesco?
Come here frequently to get lunch. Always impressed with how well stocked it is and how much stock there is! Always a different combination of meal deals. For a tesco express it is quite big and you could probably do a weekly shop here. Downside is it’s very busy especially on the weekends and lunch time weekdays but that is to be expected. The staff at the self checkout vary in how nice or not nice they are depending on the day but they’re always straight over to help with any problems. I don’t blame them for having off days as it’s such a stressful job. Only other negative is that they don’t sell booze past 10 o’clock
Outside this store they have installed grotesque artificial flowers in boxes. Presumably this is because the locals have complained that they don't wish to see homeless (that by voting Tory) they have seen more than double since 2010 Tesco keep installing more self check out tills, we are told by the Tories that employment is the route out of poverty (despite this obviously being a lie), it seems Tesco do not wish to help by employing somebody that has fallen on the worse of times. Disgraceful. If I do need to shop here will always go to a staffed till.
Absolutely fell in love with this store so convenient and located right in Piccadilly Circus and just down the street from the hotel we stayed in. For those of us from the US it’s like a 7-Eleven, Quiktrip or WaWa without the gas station. It was a mini grocery that was stocked with items for lunch or even dinner. You could pick three (3) things like a sandwich, chips and drink or water or a salad and drink and could find the various flavors of items that are not available in the states. Pro: Convenient and great value for the items Cons: NONE
This store could definitely benefit from the layout improvement. I struggle to find things in here. I know they must have plant based cheese (including their own Tesco ones), but I yet to find it here... And I visit this store at least a few times a week. Also why the batteries recycling facilities are hidden somewhere at the back of the store where hardly any customers can find it? Surely it would make more sense to put it near the entrance? Come on Tesco, you can do better!
This store is a thriving bustling store in the centre of London - despite this they have the worst malfunctioning and very SLOW self service tills possibly in the area . Tesco you’re well able to afford NEW tills - spend some of that money you creamed off your customers by re- naming it a express store from a metro . There was one staff member vainly trying to restore these antiquated tills to working order. Avoid this store if you expect a working till.
I felt uncomfortable in this store and the cherry on top were the self scan stations. I needed around 30 seconds for each item until the machine finally recognized it. One I had to type in manually and my tesco club card was not accepted even after 2 min of trying. The store staff needed to come and help me three times with the machine. They were very quick and friendly. It's a pitty they have to work with such rubbish infrastructure.
So basically they don't sell small beers they are forcing the people to drink large beers and when I found a small bottle of Leffe they refused to sell me the beer they wanted me to buy pack of 4 bottles , and the woman on the desk was so rude and yelling and arguing with me because I just asked why I can't buy one bottle , and I have mental problems and that afected me in a very bad way I couldn't do my job after that !!!
Huge for where it's located. A lot of options, especially food options - there is a pasta bar, Krispy Kreme donuts, hot food, cold food, non-alcoholic, alcoholic, as well as usual grocery options and even some household items. The lines get very long right around lunchtime but move at a surprising clip if you're paying by card, so not too much time is spent even if the line wraps around a few aisles... Which it tends to.
Usually pop in every other day on my way to work, always a good selection of the essentials, fresh food is always great quality especially the salad bar and that wonderful purple cous-cous! The only slight let down is if you get there late on a weekday morning the bananas are often far too green but there's always plenty of other fruit instead to choose from on those days.
I would like to give them zero stars but the app does not allow it, today I went shopping and I had a bad experience with a worker who spoke rudely when I asked him his name to complain to the manager he did not want to give me his name, I declined to speak with the manager since they are all of the same nationality and I highly doubt they would do anything about it
Waste my time Came for an interview and the store manager Simon had waiting me hanging for An hour claiming he forgot , and had to wait longer to be seen, and he wasn’t picking his calls when I was trying to contact his useless self but was very irresponsive. My point why give me an interview time when you can’t even attend yourself
Large by city-centre standards. Has a fairly good range of products/selection. Fruit and vegetable selection is standard (won’t have the more exotic choices). Can always find a few goodies in the discount isle (nearing expiration), and lots of promotions on items. Checkout lines go swiftly because they have tons of machines.
Small Tesco store in central London, with a limited range of products, but covering the most important ones. You can find most products, but don’t expect anything out of the ordinary, as it is quite small. It can get quite busy at lunch time, and also in the evenings around 5-6pm. They also accept Collect Plus parcels.
Terrible!!! Spent 30 minutes in store, checking for 1 thing's availability while the store wasn't even busy. So hard to find a staff and no sight of manager except for the cashiers and the security guy. From the staffs to store's manager, all of them were looking very tired, like they have been working all night.
My recent two visits to Tesco was quite upseting as I did a large purchase in the mornings & as I went to collect 3 free wooden spoons the female staff member rudely rushed before me & grabbed them away from me on two occasions I think that staff member should use some manners & treat customers with respect
In Ullapool, this would be called a "superstore!" It's a fair sized store that caters to tourists, there all the snacks and sandwiches in the world. It's just a few meters from the centre of everything, so that's perfect. There are lots of self checkouts, so it's ideal for a high footfall.
I've been working for 4 years close to this one and I've never seen such a bad service. The older women in the service are very moody, it seems they are the owners of the store. for the love of god put other people to work. nobody deserves this kind of service. Sorry for my poor english.
Very large store. Love the hot food section. The prices are very very reasonable. We bought some pastries for our breakfast the next day. They also have cut fruits. The self check out system works really well and fast. It is a great place to check out if you want a quick/cheap meal.
Really convenient store. Great selection of food and vegetables. The hours are also very good as they open at 06:00 And close at midnight. This is right in Piccadilly so very affordable for central London. I highly recommend it. A great place to buy lunch without a huge expense.
Pretty big size for an express version. The shelves are filled with lots of similar products. The variety is just not there. Very busy - due to location. Managed to get the required items and leave. Unfortunately not many other supermarket alternatives is the nearby area.
So it's a good size and we'll equipped for middle of town. How ever I enjoy the salad bar as much as the next man. But what I don't like is that since Friday 17th to Monday 20th the large pot size is now smaller than Fridays regular size. And it's still the same money
Doesn't sell cabbage, but sells "Slaw". That sums up this kind of supermarket. It's mostly a lazy takeaway style, ready meal supermarket. Hummus is in the vegetable aisle for unknown reasons and I spent about 20 minutes looking for it in more logical areas.
For what it is, this is not a bad Tesco Metro. If you are working nearby and coming here to grab the meal deal lunch then it is really good, lots of choice, a good set up (close to the entrance and easy access to the tills), lots of self checkout tills.
Why are they the only Tesco Express I've ever been to, closed on Sundays before 12pm? I was in the area around 10am, had no water and was dying of thirst. There are no corner shops in the area that I could find, where I could grab a quick water bottle.
Good location for me, as it's right around my hotel. Easy to come in and get some fruit and drinks. Typical Tesco Express offering, which serves me well as a visitor. BTW, no plastic bags, so make sure you bring your own bag to carry what you buy.
Today we visited the store Tesco Express at Piccadilly Circus and the Colleague working there in the checkout area named SABA was really Rude when we asked something regarding the product. It was highly unacceptable. Very bad experience.
Its ok but not the best. Lots of items i usually bought there I couldnt find anymore. The croissants seemed old and not too great. The donuts in the boxes arent good either byt the fresh ones are great. Prices ok. Staff friendly
Little sad that I could not find there Tescos 2L bottle of water. It appears they don't sell it anymore. They seem to sell every other water bottle. That seems to be the cleanest water out of them all. Guttered.
It's fine if you have a card too pay on a self service till. But if you can only pay with cash(which I have to do) it can be a very long wait as people with cards seem to get priority. (Just my opinion)
Considering how many one-time shoppers they get at this branch (and we can all behave less than perfectly when think we'll never meet that person again), the staff are amazingly patient and helpful.
Visit this Tesco every morning. Never know what to expect! One day there's bread the other there isn't! No consistency! Staff are friendly but communicate in there own language!
Security got out his phone to start recording my mate please teach your staff how to behave let’s remember it isn’t primary school even though his head didn’t look that clever
Sorry to the lady s on the the till the morning I was having a very bad day didn't swear or nothing I was not in a very good mood they wear only doing there job with voucher
I wish to thank Olou Yesturdaythis member of staff went above and beyound his duty to resolve a problem i had ,He is a credit to Tesco,s .Thank you so much Rgds Colin
Sales are bad. They ask me for ID and want have a copy of it when I trying to buy Itunes card. After i refuse their requst, they thicked me out of the shop.
Really great store overall. The loacation is great, since we stayed at Leicester square. It had everything you would expect in that kind of smaller store.
Bustling supermarket just off Piccadilly Circus. Amazing value salad bar and so so many check yourself out checkouts to keep the gargantuan queue at bay.
Located st s very convenient location. Service is fast . Staff are very friendly and helpful staff. Fruits and vegetables always fresh and flowers too.
This Tesco Metro is obviously not following Social Distancing measures. Very crowded and bad! No one cared, not even the personnel. Avoid at all costs!
One of the cashiers was really rude. The guy was throwing a receipt at us as if he was someone special. Well, you are how you behave, you rude man.
Really a great store. Trust worthy staff i dropped my ipad there once and they did all they could to get in touch and i got it back. Thanks guys.
We stay near this location. It has great selection of grocery items. Very fast check out times, 20+ self checkouts plus serviced check outs.
They display wine and beer on one of the first fridges after 23, but when you try to buy it is no because of licence. Make up your mind.
it is not easy to review a place where you can clearly see that the hand of a professional manager is missing the staff do their best
The cleanest and most well organised Tesco’s I’ve ever been in. The staff are also very friendly and helpful with the self scanners.
Best Tesco in Central London! Very decent choice overall, many lunch/on-the-go options and good bakery products.
Great place to buy food on the go or a bigger shop, located just off piccadilly circus it's very convenient.
Good value and not charge more for the Central London location. Fast check out service and helpful staff.
Good for a quick lunch. Gets very busy during lunchtime but self service tills queue moves very quickly.
Staff seem unable to understand English. I’m from Vancouver BC so my accent definitely isn’t a problem.
This store is very busy but is always stocked to buy food and other items while wandering downtown.
Rudest staff members, very impolite and clearly do not know their policy! Don’t ever go in there!
A well stocked store in Central London which is very handy to grab a lunch from a good selection.
Fantastic store great people great food with great service much better than whole foods near by
Its the best tecso in central london, but tesco is not the best shop if understand what i mean.
My favourite local shop with lots of offer and good food and obviously helping staff as well
Your Evri machine never works! It's extremely disappointing. Lack of on-line communication.
Got a chicken tikka sandwich, fruit box and chocolate shake for £3.50. You do the math.
Really frustrated as I keep being ID challenged in there... even thought I am 30...
Welcoming security guard - saying good morning and starting the day with a smile!
Really fast and efficient service during pride… stacks of ice cold pimms 10/10!!
Cheating with salad bar, giving smaller boxes for same price as it was large.
Fast and efficient queuing, much cheaper than the other shops in the area
I really liked your store. high quality products. I will visit again.
Very busy Tesco, good buffet, good selection but not that much space.
Very busy but very helpful staff that keep the lines going quickly
Staff always a pleasure to meet here and normally have all I need
It is nice to see some affordable shopping in the centre of city
Thanks Anis for helping me in store today you are very helpful.
More refilling and products availability will be appreciated.
Very well stocked and convenient hours for staying at Sofitel
A decent store with okay prices. Large variety of items here
Very convenient with all what you need. The salad is not bad
fairly stocked supermarket in the city center, recommended
Poor layout of the Tesco , but everything worked for me.
Busy store. Super convenient location and a good range.
Good for tescos. It has lots of lunch and a salad bar
Great place to stop for movie snacks before the show.
Quite large and organised, decent shopping experience
Refused sell alcohol to Asian Racism discrimination
Very good pastries and salad bar at this tesco
Very cosy, deducted one star for the location
so I got £10 left until payday *enters tesco*
practical and easily accessible supermarket.
Great place for last minute booze and H2O!
Occasionally stocks white lion bar duos.
Nice organisation and range of products.
A lot of options, get very busy though!
Worst Tesco branch ever. Place to avoid
Unorganized a bit but really nice stuff
Same Tesco, same products. I recommend.
everywhere is automatic tills checkout
