The food was one of the best Thai dishes (Pad Se Ew, ordered hot) I've ever had. I didn't feel like they skipped out on the spice at all which I've had problems with at several other Thai restaurants. This was by far the most amazing experience I've had getting Thai in my life. The atmosphere makes it easy and judgement-free to communicate and I felt very welcome and heard. Thank you so much to the younger guy (who I missed the name of) for your exceptional service. Between the amazing food, great service and lovely quiet atmosphere I can say with certainty that this is my new favorite Thai restaurant to date.

They have a note at the bottom of the menu that states if you communicate what some of your restrictions are and they'll do their best to help. There is a statement about how there is potential for cross-contamination as well. The ingredients are also listed under each dish and you can always ask the server about the oils, sauces, etc. for anything that isn't clearly listed on the menu. The atmosphere makes it easy and judgement-free to communicate and I felt very welcome and heard.

I visited Thai Cafe the evening of April 7th. The food is delicious and I tend to visit this restaurant once a week. Usually my experience is always a awesome one except for last night. I placed my normal order as usual and my normal spice level (you can choose between 1-5) and I ALWAYS get a number 3 spice level. Unfortunately, my meal yesterday was very, very spicy to the point I could not complete my meal. The restaurant was closed when I began to eat my food so I waited until today when they opened at 11 a.m. to advise. The lady they I spoke with had every excuse as to why they were right and I was wrong, as if I cannot tell if my meal is spicer than normal. After going back and forth (which was very unprofessional) the lady advised they will not correct because they did not make a mistake. Guess I’ll have to look for a different Thai restaurant because I refuse to give my money to a company that cannot admit mistakes can happen. I never once asked for a free meal, I just wanted to bring it to their attention but she assumed I wanted my 2 not 1 meal replaced and was unwilling to correct. This is very disappointing to a once loyal customer.

I had the Basil Soup (came with it), the Red Curry Chicken with "red rice" and the Yum Tofu Salad. So the red curry was really good but the Yum Tofu Salad appetizer which was REALLY enough for a meal itself and was even better. Oddly my favorite part was the soup...it was SO freaking good! I don't even like soup very much! What I think made the difference is the ingredients (the veggies especially) are fresh. I went there for dinner and while I have a big appetite, I totally have another meal or so for tomorrow. The service was not bad but they weren't exceptionally busy and everyone was very nice. I've no understanding on how anyone could say this wasn't really good. I travel a lot for business and I will make a point of returning. As for the ambiance, well I kinda like the more casual dining experience rather than the snooty experience and I found the prices reasonable given the quantity and quality.

If you want good Thai food in Indianapolis, then by all means avoid this place like the plague. Ownership has changed hands at least once over the past few years and the new ownership is interested in one thing: your money. They couldn't care less about the food or the experience. The dishes are bland, overpriced and most importantly feel like they cut corners in creating the dish. I wouldn't be surprised if every dish was made the day before and frozen. For example, the potato curry has...potatoes...and...*nothing else*. This dish is $10.95. Really? If *anyone* would open an Thai restaurant in Broad Ripple and make genuine Thai dishes, Thai Cafe would be out of business in six months. As it stands, I believe it will be out of business soon anyway. Save your money.

Do not eat at this establishment.... I was there eating for lunch on August 1, 2017 and ordered a pad thai dish that was extremely spicy and so I told the only server working that I did not like the dish and I thought he said okay, well you don't have to pay for it but, he still brought a check and said yes you do have to pay. So, then I asked well, can I have a pad thai dish without spice Togo instead and he brought it with a check with TWO meals on there. Respectfully, I said "why would I pay for two when I did not eat two meals".... He picks up the bag and throws it on the floor, yells at me to give him the money out of my hand and after I snatched my hand back he storms across the restaurant to yell at me to get out and that he is not giving me free food...

I have ordered from this place frequently for delivery. Today I order and after waiting for 90 mins no food. I called the joint and spoke with the owner...what a mistake. She is loud and rude. Hollered at me I told her it was for pickup and then she hung up on me telling me no food for you! Food is not bad but nothing to go out of your way to purchase. They will never see another penny of my money. Always a problem when non English speaking people come to the country, do not understand how words are used and unable to discuss situations without becoming angry over limited English. Thing is they asked for my phone number and after a reasonable amount of time, my question is why did they not call to ask why I had not come in to pick up my order. Unreasonable.

I go to Thai cafe twice a week for lunch around 1 pm and the same guy (need to learn his name) always serves my food--- he is a consistent delight. My food is always delicious (usually pad Thai+ spring rolls or red curry and steamed dumplings). Good quality food and great servings I always need to-go boxes! They have never misaccomodated me and always make a point to provide personal, above-and-beyond customer service. This place is great, I have every intention of being a long-term customer. [Not sure if some of the other customers have had bad experiences and given low ratings because of the time of day], maybe afternoon time is where it's at! Anyhow, love ya Thai Cafe!

Always excellent, since day one at opening. The folks who run this place our absolute wonderful I believe it's their 2 daughters who are the 2 main servers and they are always so kind. Since covid 19, we've only been there a couple times for carry out in they addressed us by our 1st names because they remember our names. they always ask how we been and that for staying healthy. Tonight we had dinner from there again ,I walked in the door they addressed me by name and said that they have missed us and what would we like to order. they knew we hadn't ordered yet because of who we are. The very hospitable and I would recommend this place to anybody

This is the worst management ever. I was unsatisfied with my food, the rice was old and mushy. My husband no longer wanted the order but I was willing to take a remake of the food but the manager told me that I was trouble and she did not care if I came back or not, She was not going to refund of my money and if I did not take the food she remade she did not care. She robbed me of $20 and I walked away with no food. She should not be in business. This is the worst place to spend your money. Beware, she only cares about the dollar not the food or service. UPDATE: I disputed the charge with my bank and my bank reversed the charge!

We went in to dine and was so surprised to find out that there was new ownership. I can’t lie, I was a little nervous because I loved the food before but hadn’t been back for a couple years. It turned out fantastic. The dishes were plated really nicely. We ordered pad Thai and duck curry. Both had tons of flavor. The restaurant was very clean. I do wish it was a little cozier but it was still a nice chill atmosphere. The server informed us that his family took over recently. Service couldn’t have been better. Cool guy.

I would not recommend the "LAAD NAR" dish it's horrible! When I told the waiter I didn't like it and couldn't eat it because it smelled. His response was, "ahhh noo, if I take it back I have to pay for it." He didn't even ask if I wanted to order something different even if it meant I had to pay for it. It would've been better then sitting there waiting for the company I was with to finish eating. I left there still hungry and having to pay for a horrible dish that smelled as though it was made in a toilet bowl. HIGHLY disappointed!

0 stars . I wish I could give it zero stars but I couldn’t. I’ve been going to this restaurant for years me and my family have. We’ve always loved it and nerved had issues but I order it today the portions was half the size and more money and I didn’t even get what I ordered. I ordered fried rice and had helly raisins and cashews and I was very unhappy. They said they are under new ownership. I wish I knew before spending $31.

The food is really tasty. One day decided I was ready for Thai Hot after mastering Hot-level. Couldn't have been more wrong about anything in my life! When they say "thai hot" here, they mean it! My goodness. Gave it a 4-star because the food is great and takeout is really smooth, but dining in the past few times have been very impersonal and cold. No refills, brought the check out of nowhere and no follow up about the overall experience. Suggestion: Pork Drunken Noodles (to-go). NOT THAI HOT! Lol

  • Brittany Rasmus

Never had Thai before but it was great! Amazing service very attentive. Food came out quick and hot! Really good ragoons and I loved the fried spring rolls Peanut sauce was amazing as well Can't wait to try more!!!

Ordered pad thai and a cream cheese tuna roll. The pad thai was decent, but the sushi was THE WORST sushi roll I have ever had in my entire life. It had those fake fried onions that you get in a container at the grocery store sprinkled on top. I put the first piece in my mouth and almost vomited. The only thing saving this from a zero star review is their pad thai. STAY AWAY FROM THEIR SUSHI.

Normally pretty good. A recently ordered pineapple fried rice and definitely got severe food poisoning that lasted 36 hours from This meal. I couldn’t eat for another day afterwards. Almost went to the hospital. I called to warn Thai Cafe as a courtesy and just give them a heads up and their response was “nope wasn’t from our food”. I know stuff can happen but not even acknowledging my warning was rude. I expected at least just an apology or a refund.

  • CJB Akin (CJ Akin-Indy)

I will stick with my favorite Thai restaurant on 82nd st near I-465. The food was okay. They were very slow and I felt ignored for a while. I understand differences in culture with a Thai and Filipino aunt, but I thought it put a bad taste in my mouth. I may give a second chance because everyone has off days, but if I get the same treatment again....my money goes elsewhere along with my recommendation for friends, colleagues and business associates.

  • Brittany Jones

So apparently some pretentious white boy decided to buy this company from authentic Asians and turn it into his watered down, Americanized version of Thai food. The noodles are NO LONGER hand made but store bought, the sauce is watered down, little to NO veggies in the vegetable pad Thai (which I always loved when they had authentic people cooking authentic food), and of course, little to NO seasoning at all- the staple of white people cooking!!!!!

  • Deepak Goradia

This used to be one of the best Thai restaurants before. Ever since the new Management have taken over, many of the food recipes have totally changed. The Green curry was so bad. Totally tasteless and the green beans in the curry were raw and not cooked. Disgusting food. Drunken noodles were horrible too. The noodles were not cooked. I had ordered spicy hot but was very mild. The dish was very cold. We used to go there all the time. Not anymore!

  • Eli Rankins

I ordered carry out to eat at the hotel. It was very good and I’d definitely eat here again. I got an order of the spring rolls and the Spicy Bamboo (Pad Ped). I ordered the spicy bamboo Thai hot. I was expecting a good kick, but man this heat was beyond what I expected! However, even as hot as it was it still had great flavor!

The customer service was the best thing about this restaurant. Food quality and ingredients were mediocre. I had a tofu dish and while it did the job it wasn't anything special. The veggie sushi rolls were as good as Publix rolls. The sitting is very cramped and the bathroom is decent but not very welcoming. The restaurant had very few vegan options and their menu leaves a lot to be desired.

  • L Bailey

Disappointed! Drunken noodle tasted like cheap lasagna noodles. A bowl full -lacking vegetables and chicken. Spice came correct but you could choke on the only vegetable I found-carrots. Crab ragoon was over fried but had good amount inside of the 5 pieces in an order. #SpoiledbyBaanbistro

Generally disappointing for the price. The crab rangoon had virtually NO cream cheese or crab and is a joke at $8. Don't get it delivered or to go because the styrofoam containers melt from the heat of the food. There's a lingering melted plastic taste. DO NOT ADD SHRIMP!!! For $2 extra they will add a whopping 4 shrimp. Weak!!! Try harder Thai Café!! I expected better.

  • R Bond

Love the food here, especially the soup that comes with the food. Thai hot is very hot (heat options of 1-5 & Thai hot is 10). Never had a bad experience here; by far my favorite place for pad Thai. Only downside is that for some reason I always crave this on Tuesdays (when they are closed).

Ordered two things via doordash. One item came in wrong. They offered to have doordash delivered the right item, but at this point we were hungry enough that we'd rather drive there to exchange for the right item. So we paid for delivery and tipped the driver but then at the end we still had to drive there in person, and Thai Cafe didn't even offer any compensation.

  • Sara Friede

My personal favorite Thai place of all time. The flavors are unreal. They know exactly how to mix the ingredients to make the dish peak quality and taste. Seriously good soup. Best spring rolls in town. Friendly service. Lunch prices are inexpensive but the food is always priced very fairly. I just love their dishes more than many other thai places. Quality pork.

  • Benjamin Prout

They stopped being vegan friendly and now add fish sauce to all dishes. They didn't let me know when they changed recipes and ruined a whole meal for my vegan wife who has been ordering from them since 2010. I did not appreciate this change and did not enjoy my meal. We will not be ordering from them again.

My husband and I come here a couple times a week. They are extremely delicious, a good price, and actually super spicy. As I recently learned I can't have gluten, Thai food is great and this place is my favorite. I always get the chicken drunken noodles and my husband always gets the beef pad Thai. Plus, the soup that comes with is a miracle worker for colds.

  • VanceEllis

Walked in to this empty restaurant tonight and was told immediately that it'd be at least a 45 minute wait on getting food for dine-in customers. There were only TWO small tables seated when we arrived. Something better be broken in the back, because if not, the management is garbage and doesn't know how to handle dine-in and takeout orders at the same time.

  • Marian Fox

Major plus: delivery food is well packaged and arrives hot! I have eaten at Thai Cafe twice, once in person, once delivered. Noodle dishes are good but leave a little to be desired. I find the veggies and noodles just a bit overcooked. The meat tastes like the oil it was cooked in without much seasoning. But they do give you just the spice level you ask for.

  • Brendan Haile

New ownership has ruined this place. Food used to be tasty and well priced. Now it is over priced and completely bland. The fried rice dishes taste more like Indian food, and the noodle dishes are bland with overcooked proteins. Sad to see a great restaurant go down like this.

Great food at great prices, would be five stars if the menu didn't vary so much from what you actually receive. Every time that I've ordered a dish with rice noodles it has came with the their regular noodles instead. There are also often things that aren't listed on the menu, such as spicy mayo on some of their appetizers.

Great food. Nice staff. Spice levels are different daily. Sometimes hot is mild and sometimes it's almost Thai hot. But I like it every way. Very flexible for food allergies and dietary restrictions. Haven't had a dish I don't like. Recommend the Thai Tea!! I also think they have the freshest mango sticky rice!

  • Jerica Mitchell

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! Their communication skills are horrible. I asked them to replace a meal that I took one bit out of because I didn't like it and they charged me for two meals. After he said I didn't have to pay for the first one. I told him I wasn't paying for two meals and he through the food on the floor.

  • Ally Bright

We enjoyed our food and the variety. We got a lot rice and soup with our entrees. The dumplings came loaded! I loved the oysters/ mussels. No complaints about the food or price, just wasn’t as astonishing as other Thai places we have had. We will probably continue ordering since location and service is great!

  • nikolearfarf

07/2021 This is my favorite Thai place the food is always cooked perfectly and has great flavors. edit: 10/2022 the owners have changed and so has the menu the food was still really good (slightly smaller portions and mo soup/salad included w every meal) but i could have done without the fried spring rolls.

  • Reinhard Pollach

Ordered the grilled shrimp for lunch. Came with broccoli and carrots and a hot sauce. Shrimp were tasteless and bland as were the vegetables, sauce overpowering hot. I tried to provide feedback but owner did not seem to care. Had eaten here before many times. Heard about new onwer. Not sure I will be back.

What happened to the Thai Cafe, it was horrible tonight? The people next to me were complaining about the same things I was thinking. I know they can turn it around but they have a long walk back to what they were. Good Luck to them! But for now _Do not_ eat here until they get there act together.

  • Healing Black Queens

The food is good but the customer service is horrible! They messed my order up and told me that I had to come in and swap it out and they would NOT be giving me any kind of discount for the inconvenience. You would think that during a pandemic restaurants would have better customer service.

This is my go to Thai Restaurant in the area. The employees are great, the food is good, but the spicy level is inconsistent at best. Sometimes the Thai Hot is very delicious and flavorful... Other times it's molten hot lava. Probably my fault, but sometimes you just need the good burn!

  • Adam Kuhn

I always get the same thing and never regret it. My girlfriend and I sometimes argue quietly there and the server never cares. One time my ex came there while I was there with my girlfriend and said hi to her and not me. Same ex told people I was talentless. She drinks too much.

  • J Pratt

Chicken in chicken pad Thai-very dry. Wondering if it was microwaved. Peanut sauce served cold and not conducive to dipping. I asked the waiter about and he said that is how is is serve on the side. I’ll stick with sawasdee on 86th street. Great food and great attitudes.

Great pick up service, in and out in minutes. Staff was helpful and friendly. Blue crab sushi had a little too much rice but otherwise balanced taste. The padd see ewe was spicy as desired, just lacking an amount of chicken with the dish. Would recommend this place.

Food is hit or miss here. The drunken noodles were fantastic on my first visit. My second visit I got the Thai fresh roll and Vegetable delight. They were both extremely underwhelming. Also, the Thai fresh roll somehow tasted like air freshener so that was gross.

Ordered the Pad Thai medium and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very generous portion sizes! I would suggest skipping the crab rangoons, though. They're a little pricey and not very full of stuffing.
