My sister's birthday celebration at Thai Pathong restaurant was an absolute delight! The moment we stepped in, the ambiance was inviting and cozy, setting the perfect tone for a special evening. Very impressive food, service, and ambience. The food is so yummy that I’ll definitely come back if I ever come to Sydney again. Food portion is also very satisfying. My partner and me enjoyed very very much. The staff members were so sweet and lovely. 5 stars non-negotiable. Ambience is very unique, the combination of Thai theme and transformer made it very special. Couple of people had their birthday celebration here. All staff members were wishing them which made me want to change my birthday to today so much! Plus, the flexibility that they have is also a plus point. They are kind enough to accept my request changing one of my banquet dish to papaya salad. Divine is the word. Funny story here, we ordered the papaya salad extra spicy even though the staff member kindly reminded us the spicy level might be too high. But what to do? Stubborn customer! It turns out to be so spicy that I almost burst into tears. - that’s on me. Even that, the taste was still really good! Kind advice from me, listen to their staff members. In summary, 5 stars is the limit of Google review not this restaurant.

First time I went to Thai Pothong was back to 2002. Beautiful restaurant with gift shop impressed me by authenticity of the food, nice decorations, unique gifts and friendly staff. When I came to live in Sydney in 2018, I wanted to go back to see that nice restaurant again. I found it more beautiful then 2002. We’ve became regular customers here since 2018. Many staff know us and they are very nice with us. Recently we had my birthday dinner here. They gave me a gift with a lovely tea cup wrapped in special handmade paper and took photo of us, put in frame and sent digital pictures to us with birthday wishes. Such thoughtful gifts really made my day. Highly recommend this restaurant to all who love Thai food. I’m sure you will like it.

Had an amazing and authentic experience at this Thai restaurant as a visitor to Sydney and celebrating a birthday. They made sure we were looked after well and the service staff surprised us with a complimentary dessert and a rendition of happy birthday! The flavours were authentic and well balanced. The spice levels are as indicated and so a 3 chilli rating was definitely hot even to those used to eating hot food. Plenty of options to choose from and the vegetarian options were exhaustive. Great selection of cocktails as well! Had a great night and will definitely visit again, the next time we are in the area.

Came in on a busy Thursday night, with no booking. Was willing to wait as I have heard good reviews from friends. While waiting you can see it is very busy and a lot of people come for their birthdays. They've got balloons on tables for the birthday person. The decor is really amazing and they have a bunch of artworks on the walls that you can purchase. The food was great and they have really delicious drinks. I had the tom yum soup and some sides. Everything was cooked really well. Staff was also really nice. I would come back again, but I would make sure to have a booking so I don't need to wait on busy nights.

We had a wonderful lunch in this beautiful Thai restaurant recently. The Thai food tasted delicious and looked so beautiful. It’s so great to sit in surrounded by beautiful decoration. The celebration of one of us’ birthday was unforgettable. The restaurant provided the celebrant with a complimentary ice cream desert, and a gift of tea cup. Some staff sang a birthday song with us together, one of the staff took some wonderful birthday celebration photos for us. It really made our day. I’ve been visiting Thai Pothong for many years and I can’t recommend this place enough; the food is always amazing, fresh, tastes exquisitely good and the serves are very generous. Thai Pothong provided a fantastic experience for our celebration of my dad's birthday. The food was excellent and the team went above and beyond by helping us with the fish and even surprising us with free ice-cream and a birthday song. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was great. We received a small gift to commemorate the occasion and I especially enjoyed the sticky rice with mango dessert. From the greeting at the door to the farewell after our meal, this wonderful restaurant is an absolute jewel. The decor will assault your senses with gold and spiritual significance whilst you struggle to decide which few of the extensive and delicious menu items you might try. A bottle of their house labelled Sauvignon Blanc proved the perfect accompaniment to our soft shell crab papaya salad, betel leaf prawn wraps and chicken Pad Thai. I cannot recommend this place enough and will gladly travel from south of Sydney to Newtown just to enjoy the food and hospitality again. Thank you!!!

Every time I visit them, I always get an absolutely amazing experience... the food is sooo yummy... the place is so nicely decorated.. Best Thai place in town! I went here for my birthday with my friends and were showered with love and excellent services. The food was good and fast. The reputation of this place is very well deserved. Simply put, this is THE best Thai restaurant in Sydney. If you want good Thai food, then come here. Always want to go. Made it at last. Great place and I can see was it has been part of the Newtown landscape for so long. The food was good, the type that makes you want to come back for. I can't believe we spent a dollar in this place. I came here after reading the reviews thinking this must be an amazing thai restaurant, the worst thai food i have ever eaten. No flavour at all!

I'm Thai and I can confirm this is VERY GOOD THAI FOOD. Best service I ever had in Sydney. The waiters are very friendly and very polite. Good value worth the price.
