Thai Thai was recommended to us by multiple friends and, after moving to the Dilworth area, we decided there was no better time to walk over and try it out. We frequent Basil and Thai Taste for casual Thai comfort food and thought that this would be a great, walkable addition to our repertoire. The menu is large with options for customization on almost all dishes and the prices are considerably less than most other local Thai restaurants, which made sense to us since it is takeout-only. We decided to start with the Shrimp Rolls which were basically shrimp wrapped in egg roll wrappers and fried (as described on the menu). They were flavorful for a basic dish and the accompanying chili sauce was delicious. We followed the shrimp rolls with Pad Thai--a classic favorite of ours that both Basil and Thai Taste make very well. The portions lived up to the hype from our friends, big enough to make 2+ meals out of--which is a great deal for around $11. Despite the large portion sizes for a low price, the flavor and spice were lacking. We ordered one chicken and one shrimp pad thai, both at a 3-level spice (on a scale of 1-5). The spice was lacking...it almost tasted as though no spice was added at all. The sauce was very runny and bland, there was little to no flavor in it and the chopped peanuts were thrown on top added zero to the dish whereas they typically add some additional flavor. The staff at the restaurant was very friendly, but disorganized--they weren't sure of what went in our order when we arrived for pickup as a result of not asking for a name when we called it in. We plan to try Thai Thai again and choose some alternate dishes in the future to see if we can have any luck since this restaurant is so close but we certainly will not be running back, especially with other Thai options within a 5 mile radius.

I just ate the most disgusting "Thai food" I've ever had. I never write reviews, but felt compelled to write one, sense this place has so many good reviews. I ordered the Pud See Ew (I thought it was Pad, but I'm not from Thailand so what do I know), which had soy sauce literally floating in the bottom of the to go bag, yet somehow required salt and pepper to have any flavor whatsoever (not sure how that's possible ). I didn't even eat the egg that was in it, as it was the most questionable looking egg I've ever seen. I also ordered the "fresh spring rolls," which were not even edible... tried to make them work with the peanut sauce that they came with, but that tasted like... hmm let me think... perfume, yep perfume. They didn't have their sanitation grade posted anywhere which made me suspicious, and lastly, their prices aren't updated online (no biggie), but I paid $3 more for the Pud/Pad See Ew and a $1 more for the rolls, than what was posted online. I wouldn't care about the money if the food wasn't so gross. Blah... just blah

I love Thai Thai! We got pad see ew and the peanut sauce stir fry chicken and the fresh roll. Delicious all around I cannot recommend it enough. We did add some spice and it was delicious!!! Great service and great price!

I was so excited when I opened my tray and found wide noodles! Finally a thai restaurant using the right noodle. Plus the vegetables looked good too. I had ordered Drunken Noodle with Chicken with medium spice. Unfortunately the dish had no flavor and no heat, none at all. But maybe their other dishes are good. So if you are in the mood for thai give it a try for yourself and support a local small business, just maybe not order the drunken noodle

My wife and I tried this place, based on the reviews, while we were visiting the area. We waited 15 minutes in an empty lobby before someone came from the back to take our order. We ordered two types of curry. The woman advised that it would be 20 minutes, so we walked around the area and came back in about 25 minutes. We waited another 20 minutes after that to get our food. When we got back to our hotel, we discovered that the containers were mostly liquid with very little substance. What little chicken I had was very rubbery, as well.

First time eating here tonight - overall, this place is wonderful and I will be coming back. I ordered the green curry, mild. The flavor was good, I’d say 4/5 for flavor but I used to work at a Thai restaurant and have a very refined palette when it comes to Thai food in general. I will probably order it medium spicy next time as the mild was not spicy enough for me. The portion size is great, the curry came with a lot of vegetables which I love! And the employees were very very nice. I would highly recommend giving it a try.

The food here is really, really good. You have so many options and the various spicy options are really good because while I like spicy food, not everyone else will. The house specials are always excellent and the best thing about this place is the amount of food you get for your money. A dollar goes really far here because since it's just myself I can order something here and eat off it or a almost half the week. Great place that I'd recommend to anyone.

  • Keely

Grabbed some late night takeout from Thai Thai and they did not disappoint. I got the 26 which is a green curry, I got it with veggies and tofu. The portion was massive and only $15. I have leftovers for at a minimum of 1 more meal. The rice, tofu, and veggies all cooked to perfection and the spice level is just right.

Great flavor. They will adjust the heat for you. Clear soups are wonderful. You feel good eating them. Anything made with coconut milk is highly recommended. Also the wide noodles with soy sauce, Pud See Ew, is smokey tasting and fantastic. The desert, sweetened rice with mango is awesome. I didn't like mangoes or sweet rice till I tried that. This used to be the King and I on Central Ave. I miss being able to sit down, but I still love their food.

I am of Asian origin, so my idea of spice is somewhat different from the general populace. These guys are superb. Amazing quality and taste at an extremely reasonable price, not to mention the super friendly hosts. They have a spice scale of 1-5 stars (5 being the spiciest) but were most amenable to my request for a 6 star spice level. Could not be more pleased. Bless You. You do us a yeoman's service especially in these unique times

  • Miguel Sajone

Every time we come here we are amazed by the amount of food and the quality of food! Absolutely Awesome!! We always try a new dish, but we also always get the lettuce wraps for an app, they are delicious, especially with a nice drizzle of the house hot sauce, have never been disappointed here, and usually get it a minimum of every 2 weeks

Family oriented business. I was passing through. I always try the Thai food when I’m in a new place. Red curry is my standard dish. It never disappoints and has a distinction from restaurant to restaurant. The tofu was not fried. My preference is fried. However it was still delicious stop.

Been going here for as long as 20 plus years. The food is very good, very hot so it is fine when you take it home. You can ask for little adjustments and she never seems put out. I like veggies and ask for more broccoli or something in the Tom Kha. It it my go to Thai place and I wish I could find a match for them as an ear in. But we live close, and always have leftovers!

  • Susanna Maske

Authentic, wonderful Thai food! Prices are very reasonable. This couple has owned and prepared the food for this restaurant for over 15 years. He is the chef and she is the smiling, cheerful lady who remembers what you typically order even if you only are abke to get there a few times a year. Whenever I'm in that area, I make it a point to stop there if I can.

  • Liz Pekarek

We just ordered take out - chicken pad thai and pineapple curry. The pad thai was not good. I've never not eaten the food, even if it is bad. Welp, I guess there is a first time for everything. The pineapple curry was not bad, but it wasn't very good either. I will not be back. Idk if this was just a fluke, but I'm not going to waste another $20+ to find out.

If you find yourself craving Thai food and you are visiting, driving by or simply lost in Charlotte, NC you must taste and try the food at this place, it is a take-out only place but the food is amazing, the service incredible and the portions oh my... Bottom line a place to visit. What we ate? #63 Pud Thai and Red Curry Gaeng Dang.

Best Thai Food in Town! Best Price in town!! Take out only. The owner Thui is very nice and personable. I highly recommend this place to everybody. Update after 4 years : still 5 stars. The quality and quantity has been consistent and now the owner even knows how I like it when I call. Still the best Thai food around!

  • Site Wizard

I always have Gang Massaman (with chicken) and Tom Kha Gai. This place has the best version of both that I've found in Charlotte. The service is friendly and the food is always made fresh (so be prepared to wait for it). Call ahead if you're in a hurry and they'll have it hot and ready for you. Thanks, Thai Thai!

  • Rebecca Edwards

I ordered Pad Thai and Pineapple Curry. I almost never write reviews but this pad thai was so bad I have to say something. The sauce was very watery and tasted almost like Texas Pete hot sauce. The pineapple curry was okay but also very watery and relatively flavorless. Will definitely not be going back here.

  • Leslie Wade

I do not know if we caught them on a off night or what but I truly don’t understand the 4 stars and some of these reviews. Ordered chicken pad Thai and it is by far the worst pad Thai I have ever had. It is some how bland, while having a horrible flavor and texture all at the same time.

  • Jim

We've been visiting Thailand every year for the last 15+ years and Thai Thai is hands down the best, most authentic Thai food in town. They get busy and orders can take a while so plan in advance and understand it's basically a one-woman operation. Definitely worth any wait!

  • Dabney Darden

Bland pad Thai.... just bean sprouts, chicken (I had ordered pork) and a little crushed peanuts. No peanut sauce ! Great spring rolls. Like everyone said, huge portions for the price. Will give this place one more chance by ordering a different menu item next time!

  • Paulie P

there is no dine-in on this place. as the name implies, take-out only. plus it is only open 5-10pm. the food though is great but on heavy-volume times the wait could be 15-20 minutes more than what was estimated. that's the reason i didn't give 5 stars.

  • Jacob Keller

Thai takeout that beats the sit down competition! My girlfriend and I have ordered over a dozen times and have always had a good experience. Bold flavors and huge portions (there's always leftovers). For heat, 4 out of 5 stars usually does the trick.

  • John Anderson

The best Thai food around! Be sure to get the Green Curry and Spring Rolls. Also, the lady that works the phone and counter is great. Really friendly and remembers what we typically order. 10/10

The food is always amazing, great price, and they are the kindest little establishment. Better than Thai taste and basil, price wise, but still packed with flavor and authenticity. Highly recommend if you want the best thai takeout in Charlotte ❤️

  • Brenda Lacayo

As a vegaterian it's always hard to find fast food I say fast food because of how quick and easy it is to order. All of there food can be vegaterian. It is one of the best Thai places I've had in charlotte and the location is great! Love it!

  • Jeremy Campbell

The food is fantastic! Atmosphere is very clean and relaxing. Give the milk tea a try; a great treat with spicy flavors. My soup was slightly on the spicy side and they took it back to tone it down for me (they noticed my eyes watering up).

  • noneya business

If you are feeling rather Thai'd up at the moment and do not want a sit down resteraunt experience you really should consider Thai Thai Takeout. This place looks nice and feels like they focus on the food. I would give this place a shot.

  • Kim Treesh

Huge portions. Cheap. Authentic. This place is the best! We used to have issues with them always quoting less time than they needed, but seems they have gotten much better at that. Note it’s takeout only - there is option to dine in.

  • Bobby Fornabaio

Their small storefront makes it hard to get an order in in high traffic times. Sometimes they get too busy to answer my phone order, but the food is always consistent and good when I get through on the phone! A weeknight staple!

  • K M

Very fast service at an exceptional value. A regular sized order can easily feed two hungry people. I’ve tried a lot of Thai places around and this is my favorite by far, quintessential take-out.

Holy hell do they serve a ton of food! One order of my Panang Chicken is like 3 meals! The service is inconsistent, mostly because a lot of people frequent here. Still, it's my favorite Thai spot in the area.

  • Katie Munichman

Probably least favorite Thai place in Charlotte. Decided to try it out on way home from a day at freedoms park and it was bland, generic and the chicken was very unclean/inedible. Very disappointed.

  • Porter Lefeber

Very poor effort all around. This is not Thai food. The fortune cookies were stale and there food tastes very plain and nasty looking. The restaurant also smells dirty. Will never go back

  • Roxanne Daugherty

Food was plain just not good. How can you mess up lettuce wraps? Not going back but can say I tried.

The best pad thai and me krob I have ever had. That's why I'm willing to drive across town (30 minutes away) to get it. Thanks for so many years of the best Thai food in the city.

  • David Nitka

Waited an hour to get some of the worst pad thai ever. Its bland and boring. If you like complex and flavorful thai food this is not it. If generic thai food is your thing enjoy.

  • Candace

Found this place after a night out with the Hubby. Absolutely amazing! We live 35-45 minutes away and make the drive out to Charlotte just to grab dinner from Thai Thai.

  • Culper Junior

Good food but service isn't up to par. If you're going to have a takeout restaurant the order has to be SPOT ON. After 3 incorrect wrong orders, I won't be going back.

  • Molly Shelton

My husband and I got the pad Thai and the portions were huge. However, there was very little sauce on the noodles so it was almost like plain noodles with no taste.

  • lion strong

The wait time is horrendous. We called in our order and was given a forty-five minute wait time. A hour and a half later our food still wasnt ready. We left.

  • Stephen Allen Jr

delicious red chicken curry! Just make sure to order ahead or else you will wait about 20 minutes for your takeout. It's worth it but save yourself some time

  • Kathleen Meanor

I just ordered from here (5.16.20) and my food smelled like a dirty diaper which is not normal because I’ve ordered from here before. Stay clear! Not good.

  • W David Harris

One of the best in Charlotte at a more moderate price. Take out only. Really nice, genuine staff. Extremely busy so call early unless you want to eat late.

  • Mark Henry

I have tried this place several times and the food is NEVER ready on time. They are exceptionally disorganized. Avoid the frustration and go elsewhere

  • Melissa Jett

Delicious food. Huge portions. Awesome prices. Run, dont walk to thai thai takeout!! I highly recommend the green curry, pad thai, and thai tea.

  • Haley Mefferd

Consistently great food. I go here frequently and have for years. Huge portions and reasonable prices and always delicious!

Two thumbs up! Great Thai food at a good value. I've gotten take out here tons of times and never been disappointed. Very quick as well.

  • Elena Wasnak

Awesome food, but the wait time can be kind of long and there's no heat in the waiting area. Still, best Thai in charlotte I think.

  • Daniel Johnson

Delicious, generous portions, great prices, but will test the extent of your patience. Order way ahead of time before picking up.

  • Emma King

Food is GOOD and portions are big! Service is lacking because they are usually busy. Just plan around the time delay!

  • Antoinette James

Good portions for the price but food leaves a lot to be desired. My least favorite place for Thai in Charlotte.

  • Marsha Goss

Please don’t order. Honestly the worst Thai I’ve ever ordered. Very bland, watery, and not worth the money.

  • Dex Bacate

Hands down best Thai place in Charlotte!!!! 5 star extra sauce extra peanuts and limes …

  • Dana Jodice, Realtor
