We've been to the 1812 Theatre a few times in recent years, and it's always good. An old fashioned theatre with old time seats like they had in cinemas many years ago... lots of nostalgia and charm. But we go for the very good performances (and the sherries before, and party pies and supper after).
Went to see ‘Art’ last night and loved it! The actors were marvelous and the exploration of their character’s friendships was insightful. The intimate atmosphere at this theatre, the glass of champagne at the end of the show and the opportunity to chat to the actors, is always appreciated. …
Can't say much about the production as I was working FOH but I do know it was a full house and is getting great reviews. Have been to other productions and they are always first class. As good or better than anything the city theatres offer. And more reasonably priced.
Old work charm with a modern welcome. Holds six production per year. You're are welcome prior to the show with a welcome drink and at the end of the show they cordially provide you with a light supper. Tonight show " You Silly Old Moo" was silly but very funny.
Intimate theatre with limited seating so it's wise to book for the performances. It has been staging productions since 1945 and won many awards in the process. The reception area incorporates a bar offering a variety of alcoholic and other drinks.
The 1812 Theatre company is based at the foot of the Dandenongs and produces a range of plays every year. They have a traditional theatre and a blackbox space which does provide good options as to how they can present things. The company of
This weekend I had the luck to be invited to the 1812 Theatre to watch a performance of "The Vicar of Dibley", in three parts, one focusing on getting the church window fixed after a storm, the second on a romance and wedding and the third
A really good local community theatre. Seats about 250-300 snd the interior is well decorated in deep glowing blue with very comfortable well raked seating. Saw The MouseTrap here and it was a very decent local theatre group production.
Great place to see a play, professionally presented. Nice range of afternoon tea provided during intermission, also free drink before the show, although some munchies would be welcoming to help with subduing the alcohol provided.
Loved this theatre. We watch The Woman in Black and it was fantastic in fact the acting the set and even the costumes were better than some professional plays we have been to. Well done. Thanks for a lovely evening.
Very good small theatre. Lovely atmosphere, and the bar prices were reasonable as well for drinks. Will go again, actively watching for plays that they may host. Good restaurants nearby for dinner and a show night.
I have enjoyed many plays at the 1812 in both the smaller Bakery and main theatres. I am sure to see local friends there. I recommend pre booking as it is very popular. The varied plays are on for about one month.
Great theatre space and community are really nice. With a visit for the theatre and shows. Licensed so you can enjoy a drink before the show. Nearby restaurants are worth a visit or a cheeky ice cream post show.
1812 is a great theatre company with talented directors and players, and very welcoming members. Always refreshments before and after the show and a friendly group of people. One of the best in Melbourne.
WENT TO THE 1812 THEATRE ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT THE 10TH OF MARCH TO SEE THE PRODUCTION OF WAR OF THE WORLDS (ORSON WELLS). IT WAS THE MOST WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AFTER OUR 12 MONTHS LOCKDOWN BY THE VIC
Can't complain at all! Very cheap entry which included some very tasty nibbles and drinks post show! The show itself was very entertaining and the auditorium was well climate
Quaint and transports you back in time. Been for some plays at the 1812 and always enjoyed the experience. The theatre is small, the drama up close and the memories lasting.
Lovely service and atmosphere. Very convenient for wheelchair access and accommodation. Complimentary 'bubbly' at conclusion of performance a really nice touch.
A great local theatre with a great atmosphere. Comfortable seating, frequent productions and friendly staff. Shows are very affordable.
I love going here. We saw The Full Monty on Friday night. It was brilliant, hadn't laughed so much for ages. You must go to see it!
I did not expect to have such a lovely time. Well worth supporting your local community and enjoying a great night out!
Local theater at its best. A variety of shows over the year in two theaters. Comfortable and welcoming.
