Our expectation was very high as we always found fully booked when we wanted to have lunch there, we thought it was extremely good and popular. The service was pretty anonymous, we had to call pretty much for everything, drink, order, dessert menu, dessert order. There was no bread available and they found out only after we ordered. We went for the sage and squash arancini, tasteless, greasy , overcooked (£8 wasted). The Sunday roast was ok, pork and beef cooked pretty well, gravy very liquid, Yorkshire pudding overcooked, overall ok but we had much better somewhere else. We ordered sausages and mash for my son (3 yo), we get 2 sausages burned on one side with some cabbage full of black pepper (it was too much for me, adult). Eton mess again not available, but we knew only after we ordered. Sticky toffee pudding recommended as exceptional by the waiter, good taste but very very dry. Why we didn't complained? Because no one looked bothered to ask how was the food, or drinks, or the lunch itself, so we felt it would have been useless to tell them about it.

A group of friends meet every quarter at The Alma our old regular watering hole, for a good lunch. We’ve been doing so for the last five or six years. I’ve previously left effusive reviews but today was disappointing. Firstly the service was shockingly bad. We were the only customers for the first hour. We had to go to the bar for drinks. When we wanted refills it was impossible to attract any attention as the two staff were too busy talking. They appeared irritated when interrupted. A glass of wine ordered didn’t appear until prompting. It took about fifteen minutes to be told the chosen starter was unavailable. The main courses took 45 minutes to arrive. We asked for our bill to be delivered promptly with our coffee. Ten minutes after there was no one to be seen so again we had to ask at the bar. We received no apology from an astonishingly dismissive waitress. Indeed everything seemed to be an inconvenience. The food standards have slipped too. My toast was only toasted on one side and very lightly. The steaks here used to be legendary but now are pretty sorry specimens. I think next time we’ll be using somewhere else.

Stayed at the Alma this weekend for my birthday celebrations and was just one of the loveliest stays I’ve had in London. From arrival the staff were all so welcoming special shout out to Phil and Tanisha. Our room was just perfect. The bed was huge and very comfy. The shower was lovely. Mini bar stocked. We had drinks in the pub on Friday night and were served by lovely lady called Morrigan who was full of enthusiasm which was so nice to see and made the best drinks. Both mornings we had breakfast in the restaurant and were served by Valentina. The food was delicious and the fry up was perfect for that hangover cure. Must also give a shout-out to one of the cutest pubs dogs Eddie. The location is great with great transports links further into central London and it’s very handy the pub is right opposite Wandsworth Town Station. Overall, I cannot recommended this pub/hotel/restaurant enough. The atmosphere is fab and the staff make it have that family feel. It has everything you could ask for. Definitely a 5 out of 5 hotel and I would rate it higher if I could. We will definitely be staying here again next time in London.

Went to pub quiz. Excellent Sunday roast-one of the best. Lively friendly fun atmosphere. Coming back next week Been back 3 weeks in a row now & the pub quiz is sooo much fun. Especially when it is full inside & many teams competing. Well recommended & cannot fault the Alma Sunday roasts . One of the best I have in London that’s for sure Another great night at pub quiz 27th august but this time music playing in background and hard to hear questions. But apart from that a great night abd roast lunches perfrct in every way as usual. No oics as food came during quiz and focus was on us coming last!!! Abd I mean ‘hang your heads in Shame’ result last

Last night I decided to go to an area that I've never been to before. I live in canning town, east London so thought I should go somewhere out of my comfort zone. I settled on Wandsworth (what a name) and I noticed there was a pub right outside the station. The atmosphere in The Alma pub is amazing, so full of life and friendly faces. I did have to wait quite a bit for my pint of Guinness but that's ok for a Saturday night. The Guinness was poured to an ok standard. The boxing was on so I stayed for an hour and had another pint of Guinness. I also took a picture with a local celebrity which was nice and topped off a wonderful evening. If you're new in Wandsworth town, The Alma is a must. It's just across the road from the station so you have no excuse

Another cracking stay at The Alma. Walking out of Wandsworth Town station is like walking onto the set of a soap opera with an idyllic high street with The Alma proudly positioned on the corner. We loved it the 1st time for my 50th in Feb 22 but following a refurb and under new management, a lovely fella called Phil who couldnt do enough to make our stay perfect, time was even better. The rooms punch at the level of a boutique hotel whilst the food and wine choice is exceptional. The pub delivers on every level with a reputation of being a lively rugby pub with a superb atmosphere. Staff were all brilliant and friendly with a special shout out to Pedro who made our stay with his charm and wit. 10/10. Why would we stay anywhere else!? Ian & Vicky.

My recent experiences at Alma have been nothing short of disappointing, to the point where my friends and I had to leave and find an alternative restaurant on both visits. The first time, we patiently waited after being seated and handed the menu, only to be informed later that the Sunday roast was no longer available. It's frustrating when a simple heads-up would have saved us the trouble of waiting. Hoping for a better experience, I called ahead on the second visit to confirm the availability of Sunday roasts. They assured me they had them, but when we arrived and tried to order, we were once again told that they had run out. This consistent lack of menu availability left us with no choice but to leave and find another place to dine.

The Alma gifted my stay through the cancer charity, something to look forward to. My mini break was fantastic, 1 night stay which included dinner and breakfast. Every member of staff was helpful and attentive, from the reception to bar and restaurant staff. The room was gorgeous, lovely bath, comfortable bed and well stocked mini bar. Dinner was lovely, I had the roast chicken (best roast potatoes ever!) My daughter had the vegan burger and thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast had the wow factor, buffet was amazing, so beautifully set out with a huge selection of breads, pastries and fruits. Pancakes were delicious. Would highly recommend a stay here. Thank you so much to all the staff and everyone who made this break possible.

We booked for two on at 7pm Saturday night for a special occasion. We were surprised that the football was being shown at full volume in the restaurant as well as the packed pub, but once things settled down we enjoyed debating our choices from the extensive and delicious sounding menu. Unfortunately the lovely waitress had to come back THREE times to tell us our choices were not available. That's about 80% of the mains off. When we did finally choose something the kitchen had it was fine, but really if you're after something different from the usual pub sausage and mash/burger, then prepare for disappointment. **Edit** we have since been back for dinner and everything was MUCH better, thank you. We and our dogs enjoyed a very friendly welcome, terrific food and drinks.

Had not been to eat at The Alma for some years. It was a sunny Sunday quiz night. The bar was busy, the restaurant quiet. We had reserved a table for 18:45. There were some service problems.. several times being told items we had ordered were not available either because they’d run out or we had been given the wrong menu. Wouldn’t have minded necessarily except had asked at the outset what was unavailable (understanding it was late in the day). A carafe of water was served immediately - nice touch. But the wine did not come until we chased after it three times. The food - was delicious. Roast beef and Pork. And the complimentary custard lemon tarts welcome and amazing. Will definitely come back and try again.

Most expensive single G&T, here. I paid £8.55 The only good thing was the barman who served me last night was great and very friendly. As I couldn’t see any reply option, I want to write you here. I usually go to these popular pubs, the Waterfront Pub, SW18 1TS and White Horse Pub, SW6 4UL as those are very close to my home. Very often order single G&T which is 35 ml and Fever Tree Indian tonic and to be honest with you, never ever paid £8.55. Sorry but definitely you’d need to review and update your prices not to lose your customers. If you don’t believe me please go to these pubs and order the same drink as mine.

Slow, really poor service in restaurant - staff couldn't cope with a larger group, which made everyone else have to wait. Waited 20 mins before we were offered drinks, an hour for food and had to chase for the bill several times. Only really one person looking after the whole restaurant. All children at several tables were really struggling with the long delays. Food was ok, but nothing special and certainly not worth the price. Lots of other tables also just waiting round. We arrived at 5:30pm so it was only the one table that managed to bring their whole service to a standstill. Used to be my favourite pub a few years back. We won't bother again though.

My elderly parents recently visited me in London. Rather than try and put them up in my flat I booked them into the Alma's boutique hotel for a 4 night stay. Short version: 5 star experience, beautiful upmarket hotel, excellent food, wonderful staff. Longer version: The team couldn't do enough for them, the breakfasts are magnificent, nothing is too much trouble, the lunch and dinner menus are recently updated and of very high quality, the hotel room and bathroom are astoundingly good value for the space, elegance and contemporary fitting. The whole experience was wonderful. Thank you Phil, Valentina and all the team. They loved it.

Very good atmosphere, vibrant and lively place. Always a pleasure to visit this pub with friends for a drink (also non-alcoholic) or great food. The menu changes regularly and cooked on the premises. Highly recommended for visit but not only for a drink but also for organising big parties which are well prepared. The private room is amazing. Thank you ALMA!

Felt sorry for the staff completely over run which resulted in extremely poor service. Ordered drinks to the table on more than one occasion, either came with completely wrong drinks or never at all. Originally wanted the pork roast told not available so went for the veg roast to be told that was not available but the pork was (apparently). I was given a child’s portion- no pork scratching, no Yorkshire pudding in a pool of gravy… obviously ran out of ingredients as it was soo busy. Unable to make comment as no staff available and had to go to the bar and complain multiple times… having already paid it was a bit of a joke.

I booked this hotel as a pre-wedding hotel for myself and entourage to chill the night before and to get ready the morning of with the arrival of my glam crew. When I say the staff were fantastic it would be an understatement, the lady at the front desk (sorry for forgetting your name!!!) was super smiley and friendly and totally shared my excitement. We felt very well looked after and this continued into the next day with my new husband. Love love LOVE this hotel and would totally recommend for special occasions or just to treat yourself. THANK YOU ALMA HOTEL

Hi Alma, The Alma is a lovely pub, but it has become expensive. A ten-pound service charge is pretty steep. We had to ask repeatedly for drinks, service and the bill. The staff are pleasant, but in terms of service, they have some work to do. We arrived at 7.30 and left at 10.45, and I couldn’t understand why it took so long!! S Giilen

Lovely place just outside Wandsworth station. The coffee is fantastic, perfect on a cold day after travelling. I am also gluten-free, and the server went out their way to find Soya milk instead of oat milk. The food was simply a ham and cheese omelette. Served singular. The ham and the cheese omelette were lovely, too! Quick service, and well accommodating to my needs.

Whilst I do quite like this pub, and have had good food when eating there on previous occasions, I have to say that the Brunch Burger is very average and uninspiring. The “sausage patty” was just a couple of sausages cut in half, the “streaky bacon” wasn’t streaky, and the “tomato” was a slice of the least tasteful tomato I’ve ever experienced. All of this was inserted into a brioche bun but with no sauce or anything else to bind the ingredients together. It tasted okay, but there are far better options available.

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights while going to the tennis. We were greeted by Phil who was an absolute delight & his four legged mate. Friendly, great vibe, experienced staff, food amazing and well priced and the accommodation was excellent. I would stay here over & over again and highly recommend it. My husband and I stayed at The Alma overnight with dinner and Sunday lunch.. What can I say… the room was immaculate and had beautiful decor, the bed, duvet and pillows were lush and I didn’t want to get out of bed in the morning ! Staff and hospitality were spot on, food was amazing, best plant burger I have ever tasted and Sunday lunch served by Eddie was a treat ! We needed our buttons reset and this hotel did just that for us. Many thanks for a lovely break Tracy & Graham

We stayed here for 3 nights. Very convenient being immediately opposite Wandsworth station. Rooms very good & cleaned daily. Staff very friendly & helpful. We only had breakfast here, but good choices. Only 4 star for food because we have not eaten at night here. Good beer selection. Very popular at night, but did not hear any noise from the bar in our 1st floor room. Good value for money. Recommended.

Nice enough pub, but the service was terrible. They did try, but massively understaffed and waited 25 minutes at the bar to be served a drink. The pub was also rammed with empty drinks glasses and food plates - evident they just didn’t have enough employees to clear up. Probably won’t return due to the bad experience.

Absolutely gorgeous place, I loved my time here. The drinks were stunning, I had one near the open fireplace. Cosy atmosphere. I got served by a girl named Morrigan who introduced me to different types of gin because I asked for a recommendation (didn't have that much knowledge myself haha) but she was kind enough to show what was available. Had such a nice time xx

Very nice local pub. Visited “The Alma Pub” on Sunday to try their Sunday roast, chicken and veg wellington were both delicious, potatoes nice and crispy with generous portion of gravy. There is a hotel here, but I've only been to the pub in the restaurant. The food is very high quality. It looks quite like a regular pub menu, but there are less common items like venison. All the meals were excellent, we had three courses and paid around £60 per head.

Cozy atmosphere. The service was very slow, however, they said they were short-staffed, and the servers were polite. Good menu and Sunday roast.

Very comfortable room and friendly staff. We had a bit of an issue with checking in but that was sorted ok. Good location. A very popular bar/hotel and the restaurant serves good food. Happy to recommend.

A great pub right next to Wandsworth town station. Plenty of dark wood and a massive island bar. Fast friendly service. The pub dog is a great help. Plenty of beer on hand both cask and keg. A great find!

Went for Sunday roast. Food was quite good but had wait close to an hour for it and the Yorkshire pudding was a bit burnt. Rest of the flavours were good and the place otherwise seemed nice.
