"One of the greatest highlights of my trip, Sebastian was a phenomenal and passionate curator and storyteller; relaying the works and political aspects of the art/books of Dr Seuss"
My sister was called today and we instructed to pickup a Dr Seuss product by one of your staff members at the QVB gallery. When my wife and sister greeted your representative at approximately 5:30pm today, after travelling for over an hour, they were told they could not pick up the product as your business had not received funds from your finance institution. My sister had travelled over an hour to pickup the item and arranged to leave work early to do so. We told your staff member this and at that point she laughed and said "at least you left work early". The overall demeanour of this staff member was smug and there was a very low level of customer service shown. The girl was of a slim build, brunette with black thick framed glasses. If there was an issue with your financial institution and had we been contacted this would not have been an issue. But your staff member made my sister and wife very upset through her condescending tone. I find this absurd and quite frankly shocking. I will be sharing this experience quite publicly and I demand a response from your staff regarding this matter.
We’re currently on a holiday from Brisbane and popped in to see the artwork as we have always been a fan of the Suess books and regularly read them to our kids at bedtime (before they could read on their own). We were greeted by an amazing guy by the name of Sebastian who proceeded to take us on a mini tour of the gallery, imparting some fantastic and interesting stories *behind* the stories of Dr Suess, and all about the life and legacy of the man he admiringly referred to as Ted. The tour ended with an animated reading of a random Dr Suess book to the delight of our kids (and us, not gonna lie). Sebastian was so knowledgeable and truly passionate about his work that it made for an unexpectedly engaging and borderline magical experience for our whole family. As we left he thanked us by name and we all left smiling and wondering if we had just encountered a man, or the Cat in the Hat himself in disguise.
Worst service and attitude ever!! I don’t know how to begin explain how disappointed / rude attitude !! I am with the customer service standard in your art gallery !! My attempt was met with a very arrogant attitude over the phone as well . I wish to refund the art piece if I could !! I suggest that if you would like to start an enjoyable and memorable journey with Dr.Seuss, it’s probably a good idea to seek a different gallery !! not in this store, Not the man sales person !!
I’m a regular at the Dr Seuss gallery, I find viewing the artworks reminiscent of my childhood. Spike who works at the QVB Seuss gallery especially is a delight and pleasure to speak with. Most of the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, a benefit of the gallery is that they allow purchases through the use of Artmoney, this makes what might be unaffordable affordable. Myself I am a regular collector now.
One of the greatest highlights of my trip, Sebastian was a phenomenal and passionate curator and storyteller; relaying the works and political aspects of the art/books of Dr Seuss. Do yourself a favour and stop in - and ask Sebastian to take you from Dr Seuss's start in advertising through to the 2nd world war, Nixon, Ford and later Regan years... it is well worth it.
Sebastian - What an entertaining story teller you are!!! We went in to your store for a look and were taken on a journey of Dr Seuss history and artwork with a classic narrated story to finish. What a treat - thank you. You made me remember, 'you're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child'. What a fabulous experience.
This gallery is in the beautiful Queen Victoria building. It was very interesting seeing a variety of Dr Suess works all beautifully presented and displayed. Just wish I could afford a purchase or two. If you want something different for your decor or just wish to see other art pieces created by Suess this is the place!
I like this place. If you like Walking through the QVB then it is worth your while to pop in and have a look. The best way to get here would be train unless your happy to pay for parking under the QVB which during the day can be expensive. There are always a lot of people about doesnt matter what time of day you visit.
OMG MOST AMAZING EXPERIENCE OF MY GOD DAMN LIFE As an avid dr Seuss art fan, I must say that getting to nerd out about art for an hour with Sebastian is probably up there with top ten experiences of my life. I’m still in awe that I got to see some of my favourite pieces in the flesh. I will definitely be back.
Who doesn’t love Dr Seuss. I’ve purchased two works from the QVB store and these pieces always generate so much nostalgia for those who visit our home. The staff are enthusiastic and the layout of the store is kaleidoscope of Seuss memories.
Being a full on Dr suess Fan it was such a pleasure to come here and see his amazing mind explode all over the the walls.. His creativity is seen clearly here and I'm excited to visit again some time
Love this shop with all the Dr Seuss characters Sone were ornaments to buy. Creative art works . It reminded me of when I was was a child . Great shop to visit and very friendly staff,
the representative was rude and entitled, constantly making snarky comments and extremely judgemental for someone with such as open mind. would not recommend going again
Orginal Dr Seuss artworks are stunning, hidden away on the top level of QVB is a must visit even if you dont intend to spend a few hundred to thousand to purchase one.
Cool gallery that changes its artwork whenever it’s available. Love the works in there. Friendly and knowledgeable owner. Interesting location for an art gallery.
I’ve never walked into a Dr. Seuss store (Melbourne or Sydney) without receiving the best customer service. Both the art and the team are always incredible
Love this gallery. Wonderful, knowledgeable staff. Beautiful and creative works of art. I already own one piece and can back to buy another.
The guy that works there is very enthusiastic and attentive, he thoroughly explained the stories and details behind the artwork and poems!
Great experience, Suit in the chair, pick a number and have an animated guy read you a Dr Seuss book. Solid entertainment and it is free.
My daughter loves Dr. Seuss so much at the moment. She loves to bring a few books from her sets to seek from The Art of Dr. Seuss!
Fantastic display and switched on, energetic staff. A wonderful experience and it brings out the child inside.
Such a fun gallery. Matthew is wonderful to speak to and so knowledgeable about the art scene in Sydney.
