This will be an interesting experiment - a high-end 'microbrewery' (for lack of a better term) in the heart of development and *the ghetto*. I live right across the street, and this place has been bustling since it opened. I have to admit - the surrounding area, while under development, houses the Tom Wadell Clinic, a City-sponsored drug treatment facility. Consequently, the social element in the neighborhood tends to be less-than-ideal after normal business hours. That being said, it seems as though they are looking to capitalize on the recent developments in the neighborhood, including the arrival of Twitter HQ, NEMA (a new high-rise mixed use preoperty), and the rising population of 'hoodie mafia' tech workers. Between the two groups, the diversity of the scene is still rather homogenous. The bar, itself, is rather sterile, but nonetheless inviting. The owner/management are very friendly, and they offer a wide variety of craft beers and lagers to suit nearly any pallette. I suspect this will be a popular place for the power lunchers in the area, but we shall see...I will update this review later, after I have had a chance to try the offerings more than once, test the service, and allow the business to mature a bit. Wish them luck, and give them a chance to win you over, too!
(5/5): Great ambiance, knowledgeable and friendly bartender and decent pricing/selection. I came here after visiting SF with my wife for Thanksgiving after visiting another bar that ended up being closed. Fortunately, The Beer Hall's intimate atmosphere and friendly bartender justified the change of plans. Despite being the only one working and serving at least 10+ people, drinks and food orders were taken and delivered without delay. In addition, the bar offered a surprising selection of beer, and the bartender was very knowledgeable about which one to recommend depending on a customer's taste. Prices were fair averaging about $7 for most beers, and the bathroom was rather clean! At the time, the food menu was limited to a few items that were much better than expected. I highly recommend the citrus olives, which both of us devoured. Overall, I'd revisit this bar if I'm ever in town again.
I used to give this place a good review but niw not so much. Tonight i walked in here for the first time in a while and the bar tender said can i helpbu find a place Sound led like he was judging my apperence. Then i said oh im gettong a beer. Reminding u i just walled in then right away say ok wat are u having. And he look at my id for like 5 min. I told him im gotta look at the menu first. Everything was kool after that but ge kept loolin at me as i drank makin me feel very uncomfortable. I work in the industry before and know when some one is lookin at me the wrong way.
First time in San Francisco and we were looking for a laid back bar to visit on a Friday night. After reading many reviews about shady bars in the area with rude bartenders (who might double charge you if you're not paying attention) and long wait times, we were a bit hesitant to go out. However, The Beer Hall was a pleasant surprise! Great beers on tap and friendly staff. The atmosphere was just what we were looking for and they even had a few sours on the menu, which was a plus. Definitely would go again if I ever end up in that part of San Francisco.
Small place with very little signage. You really have to walk right by it to find it, and even then you might miss it. Attentive staff at the bar, nice pours, good beer and wine selections. Busy most nights but, if you're in early enough to get a seat at the bar, a good place to people watch. They have a tv tuned to sports but we sat under it cuz that's not our jam. Nice for weeknight drinks.
Honestly only went in here to pee before and after Pride. After Pride they were selling drinks outside (champagne & margaritas) ; same price WAY different proportions. When I said I changed my mind after she poured the champagne, she said she still had to charge me although I hadn’t even touched it, bad unaccommodating business practice. I would never go back other than to use the restroom.
Pretty interesting placeuIt's got a very clean feel to it. And the staff is knowledgeable and I to the subject matter. They offer a very large selection of bottled beer for sale, which you can take home or drink there. Lots of beers on tap as well. Doesn't really feel inviting but they have good food and is a good place around city hall for an after work drink.
I went here during the soft opening but still really enjoyed the selection and staff. It's a bit more modern and sterile inside, but the wall of beer is quite impressive as is the list of beers on tap. Very small seating area but once you settle down there is no where else you need to go. You can drink unique beers here until you see pink elephants walking by.
First time here. Nice Beer Bar. A few good snacks. Decent Tap selection and really good bottle list. The place is nicely decorated but it feels cold and it was cold because they had the door open! On a cold and windy summer evening. Not sure how much about beer both bartenders know. Will come back in a few weeks to see how they handle their beer offering.
The draft beer selection is average. Where beer hall stands out is in the menu with an extensive bottled beers selection. Not a place if you're looking for a good fun atmosphere. I was there on a Friday at 7pm and it was dead quiet with only a couple of patrons.

Great little beer spot with a good draft list! I got a meatball sandwich and I wish the bread it came with was not as soft because the sandwich fell apart. The salad it came with was BOMB though! Pretty good deal for this sandwich + salad combo (I think it was $11?). It was a beer + meatball sandwich + salad for $20!
Always something new to try on the menu... it’s really hard to drink them all :P limited seating so not for a party of 20 or more... great service with a smile, prices are standard for downtown, you pay for the discovery and opportunity to try up to date new beers from lots of local/new breweries. Drink one for me!
Awesome opportunity to try some great Beers... Went in the early afternoon on the weekend and the bar was packed. Day time bartender flying. Still able to acknowledge you and get to you and your order in good time. Great selection of beer to sample and had good music playing. Making the day in the city even better.
Small place witth a great selection of beers on tap. Bartender was knowledgeable and helpful. Plus, the restrooms were there when we REALLY needed them after deciding to take far too long a walk from a restaurant to our hotel.

Very good bottle selection and a great (but not huge) tap list. The bartenders have always been super friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area. It's a great place to go if some in your party would prefer wine over beer since they have solid wine options too
Yet another awesome craft beer bar! This place has been around for a few years now, and shows no sign of going anywhere. It gets a bit busy and loud around happy hour, but otherwise no complaints. Don't feel like drinking at a bar? You're in luck, they're a great bottle shop too!
This is not a good place for post-concert drinks as they require all people to have IDs even if they are not drinking. They will waste your time explaining the menu to you for several minutes before informing you of their requirement that everyone in the group must have an ID.
A really nice and cozy pub. I really recommend a visit to this place. They have many unique types of beer. If you dont know which one you want, they can give you some small samples you can taste before you dicide which one you want. The staff was really friendly and helpful.
Stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon around happy hour time. Great selection of drafts with various pallettes. The bar tender Liz was very helpful with recommendations and energetic to chat with. Nice view across the street from the Twitter HQ. Will stop by again when in town.
I cool little spot. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable, they have a nice selection of beer, and the decor is cool. The main clientele seemed to be techies/hipsters, but as long as that aspect doesn't bother you, it's a great place to go sample some new beers.
This place is awesome!! The beer selection is extensive and the service is top notch! We've come here for happy hour multiple times (the only thing is, they don't open until 4- some days you just need happy hour at 3:30 ;D). Everyone always has a great time!
Great selection of beer and snacks. We rented out the full bar for a private holiday event. The staff was so nice and accommodating. Recommend coming here after work or if you want a get together for a private event like a birthday celebration!
Cozy place that’s super convenient for accessing a fairly wide selection of beers. I’m a stout drinker and am always impressed that they have at least 2 good options for me to try. Great spot for an after work drink with 1-2 colleagues.
Great selection of beers that rotate frequently. They also have a great selection of bottles you can buy and take with you, including Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig. The staff is pretty friendly and knowledgeable about their selection.
Beer Hall has a wonderful selection of beers, reasonable prices, and friendly staff. If you have a larger group and you're going on a high traffic time, you should send someone to scout out tables early because the place isn't huge.
Good selection of beer, but it felt much more divey that I expected. Just wanted to sit, enjoy a beer and chat and the music was so loud I had to yell to be heard across the table...guess I was looking for a more chill vibe
A great selection of draft beers that rotates frequently, a staff that is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, wonderful owners, high-quality bar style snack foods, and an awesome location. Best beer bar in the city!
Great place to chill, play a couple of games and taste some good beer. They have a strict ID policy so don't forget to bring your ID if you want to have a drink. The games are fun but they could use some repairs...
We really enjoyed our visit. We went during pride. We stumbled apon it again lol I really liked it!! It was really fun!!The only thing that I have to complain about is that the beertender skipped over me twice.
Cool little spot, with some interesting selections on tap. The place is small, and the bartender was nice and knowledgeable. Too many IPAs for me, so I had a smaller selection, but it was still a good spot.
Great selection of draft beer got to take my dad there and it was a chill environment definitely will be back there.. Within walking distance to other draft beer places as well which is always a plus.
Excellent little nook of a bar in a convenient location. Had a locals feel even though it is nestled near Market. Friendly bartender, good beer selection, with nice views of the colorful cast of SF.
My beer master friend says the beer selection is well balanced. The menu screen makes it very easy to find your perfect beverage. This is a well curated beer menu. And I love the pop top art wall!
Great beer selection (and a beer hall full of bottles for sale!) at an overtly trendy place on Market. Pretty sure this place wouldn't exist without that shiny twitter office across the street...
A beer lovers must. The selection here is great with a wide range of beers. The staff is attentive with great advice if you're unsure or if you're overwhelmed with the options. MUST STOP BY.
More homey than you might expect for a bar in a brand new building, they offer an excellent selection of largely domestic craft brews as well as light snacks. The pretzel was delicious!
Great selection. Bottle selection is especially impressive. Comfortable atmosphere, finally a beer bar with the noise level of a wine bar. You can have a conversation here. I'm a fan.
Best place in SF for craft beers. Especially since you can enjoy a couple from the tap and take a few home for later. Great owners and location. Can't beat this place.
I like the atmosphere, good selection of beer, friendly enough staff. Got there on a weekday at 4:30 and had no problem getting a table. It really filled up by about 5
More of a beer closet, but chill and comfortable with a nice selection of craft brews and a limited but solid wine list. Will definitely come back to this cozy spot.
Was here twice on my short stay In San Francisco. Friendly staff, good selection of beers. Had an amazing and juicy IPA and an equally good barrel aged triple.
This is my go to place to grab a beer and just relax after a long day of crushing it at work. Weight is such a great guy. Highly recommend the beer selection!
Wow. Great craft beer selection. Staff that know their stuff and a funky, eclectic crowd of beer lovers. Fair prices. A little oasis in this part of town.
One of the top beer bars in the city, not too be missed when in the neighborhood.

You can buy individual bottles and cans to take home and sample yourself, always cheaper than in house. Great when you want one more, but have to run!
Great beer bar with 20 taps and a large bottle selection. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing.
Great stop for a beer. Excellent selection and close to the civic center for a pre show drink.

Great selection, super friendly staff who knows their beer and love talking about it. The place is a small and can get crammed.
My workmates and I always came here almost every weekend to have some fun, the staff were great, cocktails was really goodd!!
Great beer selection Staff was friendly Was here before a show at Bill Graham Prices are normal for good beer around here
One of the best tap rooms in the city, awesome beertenders and an excellent selection of cans/bottles to take with you
I love this place. Great tap list, a few sandwiches an little nibbles etc. Also amazing bottles to take home.
Great place. Laid back atmosphere with great beer selection. Expensive of course since it's in mid-market.
Friendly staff and great selection. Had some delicious sours on tap and bottles for purchase which I love
Great beer selection on tap and a bunch of large format bottles too! Cheap quick bites during happy hour
Good beer selection. Clean and cozy. Perfect for an after-work drink with a small number of people.
Drew and Jen are lovely people. Great beer options. Good music. Cozy. What else can you ask for?
Awesome space with great service did get a bit noisy but I think it was during an event
This place is great! Tons of good beer, lively but not too loud to have a conversation
Very nice place and a good variety of beers to choose! Recommended to beer's lovers
Cool place with 2 of the strongest and best tasting stouts beers I have ever had.
Great staff. Chill bar. Great beers on tap that change often. Highly recommend.
Good selection of beers, but wish they had more food options
Really great beer selection and friendly vibe.
Great beer selection. Gets very crowded tho!
