Burnt offering . Choice of Pink ( under-cooked) Lamb or Crossled Well Done Lamb. On arrival it was a disappointing 3 x meagre thumb sized pieces . When asked if more was available the charmless waitress advised that 'no' that's all you are getting. Three finger sized slices , ' pathetic for £17. On the website for marketing purposes, the photos show 6 x pieces , whereas in reality customers are only served 3 x thumb sized slices of burnt Lamb. There was an argument with the confrontational Manager on Duty about a side order of Roast Potatoes , who advised that it would not be possible to serve a side order of Roast potatoes, then 5 minutes later she had a change of heart and I could have extra Roast potatoes after all . However , I wish I had not bothered as they were as hard as 'hell' and inedible. The Yorkshire Pudding was also 'burnt'. The Blackburne Arms may serve hundreds of meals a week , but its a case of quantity over quality. In all fairness when I raised my concerns with Stephen , the owner, he did offer to look after my wife and I the next time we are in Liverpool to show us how they can cook a meal without being overcooked I will take Stephen up on his offer , the next time we are in town and my wife and I look forward to being pleasantly surprised. There has to be a vast improvement on the burnt offering we were served on Sunday. That's not a lot to ask, I wouldn't have thought. The Blackburne Arms claims to offer the best Sunday Roast in Liverpool, my response to that claim would be " not based on the meal my wife and I were served which was truly disappointing. I look forward to having my mind changed on our next visit , when we will take Stephen up on his kind offer .

The Blackburne Arms in Liverpool truly is a gem when it comes to dining and drinking experiences. We had the pleasure of trying their roast lamb dinner and was blown away by the quality of the food, as well as the outstanding customer service and attention given by Danielle. The roast lamb dinner was cooked to perfection - tender, succulent and full of flavour. The portion size was more than adequate and left us feeling completely satisfied. It was clear that the chefs at Blackburne Arms take great pride in their dishes and use only the freshest, high-quality ingredients. Their customer services was exceptional, Danielle and the rest of the team, they made us feel incredibly welcome and were attentive to our needs throughout the meal. The price of the roast lamb dinner and the drinks were also very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and the level of service provided. It's no wonder that Blackburne Arms has been a go-to spot for a roast dinner. In addition to their amazing roast lamb dinner and exceptional customer service, Blackburne Arms also boasts a selection of export lagers, cocktails, wine, and local beers. Whatever your preferred drink may be, they have something to suit all tastes. And let's not forget about their delicious pudding selection! The passion fruit cheesecake was an absolute standout for me and I highly recommend giving it a try, they also have other options to choose including their famous sticky toffee pudding. Overall, Blackburne Arms is a must-visit for anyone looking for a great dining and drinking experience in Liverpool. From the delicious food to the outstanding service and impressive drink selection, this place has it all. Don't miss out on the opportunity to try their roast lamb dinner and passion fruit cheesecake - you won't be disappointed! We will come back definitely, cause finally found the place for our Sunday Roast!

I recently dined at Blackburn Arms and overall, it was a delightful experience. The food was truly great, filled with flavors that delighted the palate. However, there was one small drawback - we were seated by the door, which made the area a little chilly. Despite that, the nostalgic pub atmosphere added a touch of charm to the entire experience. Now, let's talk about the food. It was simply outstanding. The flavors were rich and satisfying, and each dish was prepared with great care. The roast dinner, in particular, left a lasting impression. The tender meat and perfectly roasted vegetables were a true treat for the taste buds. It reminded me of a traditional homemade Sunday roast, which added a sense of nostalgia to the dining experience. The only downside was the seating arrangement. Being seated by the door resulted in a slightly colder atmosphere, which can be a bit uncomfortable, especially during colder months. However, the warm and friendly service made up for it to some extent. The staff was attentive and accommodating, ensuring that we had a pleasant dining experience despite the chilly seating area. In conclusion, Blackburn Arms is a great place for delicious food and a nostalgic pub experience. If you're looking for a fantastic roast dinner, this is definitely a place to try. While the seating by the door may make it a bit colder, the overall quality of the food, friendly service, and nostalgic atmosphere make it a memorable dining experience.

I’m a local who has lived round the corner for 20 years so this is one of my local pubs (restaurants). Before Steve , the current owner took over, this was a really lovely pub with a community feel to it and it ALWAYS used to do really nice food at reasonable prices plus they had a big tv and used to show the football. I hadn’t been for quite a few years - the last time I went was about 3 years ago for drinks only. They told me they no longer showed the football and it was more like a restaurant place aimed at the theatre goers. Decided tonight to go for a Sunday roast dinner (never had food since the new owner took over). Well, hugely disappointing. £16.50 (shocking price for what you actually got) for a beef roast dinner. The beef itself wasn’t too bad, but everything else was disgusting. The one piece of carrot and one piece of broccoli were the only thing (with the beef) that was cooked properly. The roast potatoes were ROCK HARD as was the cauliflower. I don’t like yorkies so I left that. I honestly reckon they reheated the meal up from earlier on honestly half of it was inedible.also, they sat me right by the toilets which I was unhappy with so it didn’t even get to a good start. I have had so much better roast dinners (Toby carvery ones are much, much nicer and cheaper). What a shame what’s happened to this once great pub. If you want to have a decent Sunday dinner, avoid this place.

Sadly this will be my last visit. I've had several good lunches here over the past 4 years but recently something has changed, and not for the better. It is a lovely old pub (sadly ruined now by intrusive piped musak), but the food used to be very good - maybe not top notch, but cooked fresh by someone who knew how to produce flavour. The meal I had today was a very sad affair. Steak and Guinness pie with vegetables, served with minted peas and chips. When it arrived it was not a pie at all, just an insipid puff pastry lid, which I immediately folded in half and sent back to the kitchen. As I said to the waiter, if you can fold it, it's not cooked...I don't understand how anyone could have actually sent it out like that. The filling itself, while tasting suspiciously commercialized and without a hint of Guinness, was inoffensive except that the vegetables were carrots and peas, to go with the side dish of...peas. I'm giving two stars for the wine and the quality of the steak used, which were excellent. Unfortunately the food seems to be cooked now by someone who hasn't a clue about flavour or how to use quality ingredients.

We loved staying at the Blackburne Arms. The room was very cozy, clean, nicely decorated and the bed was super comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The location was perfect: a quick walk to the centre, much closer than other hotels we looked at but an even better price. The pub was real great as well: good food and cool atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

We were recommend this amazing gastro pub / hotel. We booked our wedding reception and accommodation and can say that we have had the most amazing time. Stephen, Emily, Eddie and all the other members of staff met us with such warmth and could not have done more for us. Right down to the smallest detail (even the requested knock-out gingerbread cheesecake). Could not recommend this enough! Anywhere else would not have measured up. Mr&Mrs C.

Dropped in while out on a random day trip that the other half surprised me with. Really lovely place all nice clean, contemporary feel to the place fab atmosphere and delicious food. With it being a Sunday the menu was Sunday dinner. Starters I had the ham hock terrine with chutney and toast. Very tasty, good portion size .. loved the chutney mmm Followed by the lamb Sunday dinner. You get a big portion so make sure you are hungry when you get there. The meat was lovely and tender it just melted, potatoes were nice and crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, loved the parsnips and the yorkie was just perfection. Other half had salmon to start and the beef Sunday dinner.. the beef was th same lovely and tender Fantastic Sunday lunch I had the.

Went here on A Friday afternoon. The barmaid was very welcoming and brought us menus and took drinks order. She brought drinks to our table, took our order and brought food. I had a very nice prawn linguine, others had fish and chips and sandwiches. All the food was excellent! They also do Timothy Taylor Landlord my favourite pint! Didn't get the barmaid's name but she was an absolute star, running bar and waiting on tables singlehandedly. Will definitely go back soon!

Fab Sunday Roast, service amazing, staff could not do more to accommodate us, they go out of their way to attend to everyone, which cant be easy as it gets very busy, the Manager is in the thick of it too, running around organising service. Dinner was gorgeous, fresh quality produce, like going to your Nan's for Sunday Roast, go try it, but book as it is very popular.

Beautiful meal. Came for a family meal out to celebrate a birthday. We had a warm welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Staff had good knowledge of the local ales and beers. Menu was extensive with lots to choose from. Beautifully presented with lovely flavour. And we shared two puddings to finish which even came with a candle which was a really nice touch! Overall an excellent meal, great experience, lovely staff will definitely return!

What a fabulous place…. A real hidden gem! The meal was exquisite to a level by which I’d be happy to travel time and time again to just to savour. We also stayed at the Blackburne as we basically wanted to go into the City without having to pay extortionate prices for a City centre dwelling. This was an idea we did not regret. The room was presented well, the bed exceptionally comfy and all in all relatively quiet. Have to say thanks to Emily for going out of her way for purchasing some flowers for the room prior to our arrival. My wife was absolutely made up!

We came for a pre-theatre meal which seemed like a good deal. The service was quite good even the restaurant was busy although it took a little while to get the bill. The ham hock terrine starter was a little lacking in taste but the fried cauliflower starter was superb. The vegetable curry was very nice and the minute steak very tasty but the chips accompanying were not very good. Overall, a pleasant publike restaurant with nice staff but the food - while entirely edible - is a little hit and miss.

Excellent location for us, pub is great, but the rooms were less than ideal. Absolutely tiny (one of us had to climb on the bed if the other wanted to get past to go to the bathroom), windows were rattly and the sash mechanism not working so didn't stay in the open position. Communal stairway smelled very damp/foisty. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in. Will visit for food and drink again, but definitely not stay over.

We went for a Sunday Roast. The service was amazing, we’d accidentally booked our table on the wrong date but the staff got us a table sorted. Brilliant friendly service on a very busy day. The food was AMAZING. Ginormous Yorkshire puds, lovely gravy and fresh veg. Would love to see more alcohol free options available. Would have loved a glass of alcohol free prosecco or wine. Thank you for a brilliant Sunday roast. We’ll be back. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We quite often visit here on a Thursday when the do a 'steak night' which I must say is fantastic value; Steak chips and a pint (or 1/2 bottle of wine) for £17.50! Not only is it great value it's also fantastic food. The beers are well kept and the staff welcoming and friendly. Keep up the excellent work!

Booked a large table for a family birthday. Food was delicious and served really timely considering the large number. Only reason not a full five, waitress had zero patience taking the order and was quite rude. We had a 94 year old lady who needed a small meal and she was very reluctant to do this, could definitively work on her people skills

We had a late book in at 6. They did kindly fit us in. We had over 30 mins wait. The food tasted nice but I got the fish and chips and it started repeating on me as I left. By 2am after a night of discomfort was quite sick. All I could taste was the batter. Whether the oil needed changing? I don't know. The staff did their best but were a staff member down.

Lovely place, staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. It's not a big place, so best to make a booking. If you're going on a Sunday they have a limited menu of roast dinners. They have one none meat option of nut roast, so if you have a nut allergy like me, the only option is a cauliflower cheese side dish... Great choice of drinks though

Lovely pub, very friendly and helpful staff. Large selections of draft ales which were very tasty and food is lovely. Only slight mark down was because portion size was on the small side especially for the price, the sticky braised beef being a good example there was very little meat but was very tasty.
